Yardbird in Vegas serves up elevated Southern classics like crispy fried chicken and cheddar waffles in a lively, beautifully decorated setting.
"This Southern classic is open as early as 8 a.m. — a boon to the Venetian’s convention crowd. Make a reservation as crowds are surprisingly common and a breakfast plate of fried chicken with waffles and spiced watermelon is worth getting up early for. The Hangover Helper bowl is aptly named, loaded with pulled pork, cheesy grits, braised onions, crispy potatoes, and eggs. And four different spiked coffees will keep you going." - Janna Karel
"Serving Southern food classics, this restaurant inside the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian makes exceptional craggy, crunchy fried chicken. Order it with skillet cornbread and honey butter, crispy Cajun-fried okra, and grits with seared shrimp. The chicken and waffles is perhaps the best on the Strip — a sharp cheddar waffle with fried chicken, hot honey sauce, bourbon maple syrup, and bites of chilled spiced watermelon." - Janna Karel
"Located on the ground floor of the forever-being-renovated mall, this upscale Southern restaurant has a nice enough space, but unfortunately, the food itself isn’t very good. Yardbird has locations in Vegas and Singapore, and is best known for its chicken and waffles. Here, it’s not a terrible dish, but it’s also one you aren’t going to remember in a half hour. And the same goes for everything else on the menu. If you work at Cedars or a nearby agency and need a corporate environment for after-work drinks with coworkers, Yardbird will do the trick. Otherwise, you can skip it." - Brant Cox
"Diners can order Yardbird’s fine fried chicken that comes with a honey hot sauce, or can up the ante and ask for the Chicken ‘N’ Watermelon ‘N’ Waffles. This dish comes with the honey hot sauce and bourbon maple syrup to pour over your Vermont sharp cheddar waffles. Customers also get a side of spicy, cold watermelon pieces to cool things off. Takeout available." - Janna Karel
"Yardbird Southern Table & Bar at the Venetian brings brunch for takeout on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Diners can pick up a cinnamon roll, chicken and egg biscuit sandwich, and chicken ‘n’ watermelon ‘n’ waffles. To order, go online or call 702-297-6541." - Susan Stapleton
