Google
Excellent food and a comforting atmosphere. I'll be a returning customer!

I am a regular customer, visiting every Tuesday at 7:00 AM. My order is always the same, and the staff's anticipatory service has been consistently excellent for the past seven years.

Google
Good food, only problem I ordered enchiladas, and it had pieces of chicken in it, that looked like chewed up pieces of chicken, really lost my appetite after that, but the other plates were ok

This restaurant is my #1 go-to. It's been my #1 since before they moved locations. I 5 the food 😋. They have some some of the best cooks ever. So if ur wanting to eat to get full & enjoy every bit u put in ur mouth, there's not a better place than here. Trust me & I'm a very picking eater, but I'll never say no to this restaurant.

This place has quick service and delicious food, the prices are good as well.

Monday at 1pm & this place is busy!!! The parking lot is small, lots of cars coming in and out. I was anticipating having to wait but thankfully we say down quickly. We seated ourselves. Our waitress was friendly, attentive & sweet. They serve breakfast until 2pm, which I was very excited about. I got the huevos con carne and chose the barbacoa. It was good. The huevos are ranchero style. My bf ordered the menudo! I can say hands down it’s one of the best menudo’s I’ve tried. My bf rated it a 9/10. The tortillas are fresh and homemade. The lemonade was fresh as well and very delicious.

Google
We eat here almost every Sunday, and the family members keep adding up. Yet we always have great service. The food is delicious, the price is very decent. Whether I want tacos, a plate, or even a cheeseburger. So far, I have not been let down. I look forward to every Sunday not only for service but for the eating afterward.

Google
The food is always delicious. I pay the same price as other places, but the portions are larger. The flour tortillas are made fresh, not the pre made dough. The weekend’s are very busy. The only drawback is parking, there is limited parking. I am there every week end hoping for parking and enjoying delicious food and great tea! Great in heart of the west!

Yelp
Had the Texan plate was very good and friendly service. Ordered Togo. Restaurant was clean and had plenty of space to dine in.

Yelp
My tacos good. The enchiladas plates very nicely presented. The chilaquiles verdes nicely presented. Pancakes sausage for the kids and pancakes eggs sausage everything looks really good. The waitress had the ability to memorize every order of 10 adults and 3 children's and served without a mistake. The place is clean good food and excellent service! I recommend this place.

Yelp
Out of masa for puffy tacos? Yep. That is what I wanted for dinner. Haven't ever ordered anything on the menu that was not available Don't know that I'll be bacķ.

Cheyenne C.

Yelp
The best Mexican restaurant I've been to in San Antonio hands down! My bb put me on and I've started a chain reaction. The service is great and the food is AMAZING! I tho k they were the mini tacos flameados those are our favvvvvvvv! Anything you get though you won't be disappointed. Open seating and open space ! Will continue to tell EVERYONE that goes to SA or lives there to check it out ! It WILL be your fav ñ.. heads up

Sandra M.

Yelp
This is definitely a hole in the wall restaurant!! The chip and salsa is complimentary and the salsa is very tasty not so spicy, the food is nice I wouldn't say is authentic Mexican food personally taste more like TexMex even tho is very tasty, the ladies over there are very friendly and bring your food as soon is possible, service is very good to be honest, homemade tortillas so it's a bonus. The only downside for me is the small parking space and the restroom is very small and only one stall for the females but other than that everything is good

Yelp
We were looking for a Mexican restaurant in San Antonio that didn't have long wait times, and this is the one we stumbled on. The customer service upon walking in wasn't the best because it was busy and it's a seat yourself service, but our waitress once seated was great. I had the green chilaquiles which were very good. I didn't care for the lemonade or the potatoes that came with the dish, but I feel these unseasoned potatoes are the standard for restaurants lately. Our bill was only $20 with a plate, two drinks, and 2 tacos which I feel is very cheap for San Antonio so I would come back!

David C.

Yelp
Ask for a Bacon and egg taco, this is what you get. No explanation or nothing. This is so uncalled for. If you don't have Bacon, say something.

Heather H.

Yelp
Great authentic Mexican food. Great service. Enchiladas were really good. Eating there was like visiting my Tia. Very welcoming.

Gabriela D.

Yelp
Best taquitos dorados de pollo y papas! Chilaquiles breakfast plate was delicious! The caldos are very good here too! And the tortas, I crave them!

Tony C.

Yelp
Nice little diner tucked away on Zarzamora. Clean and decorative with friendly service. I was out with a friend and we were looking for hamburgers. Decided to stop here on a whim. It was a great find! She had a cheeseburger and I had a Hambergesa, and it was great. Both burgers were served with crisp fries of course. We opted not to get drinks since they only had canned soda available. Two hamburgers for under $20? Where else can you find that these days! I'm already wanting to go back and try some actual TexMex. Large portions at a great price.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic! I was in the area and stopped by for lunch. This is a hidden spot with delicious affordable food. You've gotta make a stop here. I ah e the enchiladas and the food was delicious.

Lydia P.

Yelp
This place is always consistent with their food so every time we come, I know its going to be good. Its always busy but they always have somewhere to sit. We have always had great service and the inside is always clean. Great spot in the west side.

Teofila R.

Yelp
Table service is outstanding. The menudo was delicious. Meat nice and tender. Hominy good and flavorful. Barbacoa taco with guacamole was delicious. Barbacoa flavorful, tender, juicy, with onions and cilantro. Coffee and coffee refills comforting.

Sal G.

Yelp
Had a craving for chili relleno so we headed to Yatzil. Been going to this restaurant for about seven years and it's always been good and delicious. This was the first time trying the chili relleno and we were very satisfied. The chili relleno wasn't heavy, but was extremely flavorful with the cheese and ground beef. Great beans and rice, as always. The staff was very friendly and the food came out pretty quickly.

Daniel Dat N.

Yelp
Great local place! The food was reasonably price with big potions. Their tacos are on point. Maybe one of the best in SA. The server were so sweet and friendly. The vibes were giving chilled mexican home cooking.

Lea B.

Yelp
Really good! I had the asada mini tacos and they were flavorful with CARAMELIZED onions! only $8 for 5! And the waiter was nice and the place was air conditione! if I lived here this place would totally be a staple!

Jackie S.

Yelp
The customer service is great and so is the food. It felt like I was in my mom's kitchen in the most endearing way. 10/10 will recommend and the portion sizes are huge so keep that in mind!

Alli V.

Yelp
My favorite Mexican restaurant and favorite lunch specials hands down. Food is yummy and fast. Service is always with a smile

Txcped T.

Yelp
On the right day, and when the best cook does not call in. I would say some of the best Mexican Tex Mex food. The Texas plate on point, and the green enchiladas are the best. 2 can eat for under 20 bucks.

Getup W.

Yelp
Amazing enchiladas is the best thing on the menu to me I recommend to go there Comes out on time never have to wait that long Feels like my momma kitchen

Siboney B.

Yelp
Quality! Quality! Quality! Affordable quality! Service is always super fast when I eat there. Try the carne a la mexicana plate if you're a carnivore!! The salsa verde is AMAZING super hot but delicious . The walls are decorated with beautiful indigenous art pieces . So for my family and myself the ambiance is perfect They have lunch specials galore ! Everything is sooooo yummy

Javion C.

Yelp
Very professional and great customer service and the food was honestly the best food that I had on the west side. It's the best in the west for a reason!!

Laurie S.

Yelp
Sadly mislead by Yelp reviews. Was looking forward to good, authentic, delicious Tex-Mex. Thought it was a place we went to on a previous vIsit--which was all those things. It wasn't, but Yelp reviews were good so we stayed. The food was bland. The cheese enchiladas consisted of a small amount of unmelted grated cheese on a red(?) tortilla. It was very dry and tasteless. The taco shell was crispy but greasy. The chalupa was very, very soggy. The waitress was polite but they brought 2 meals out and then we had to wait 3 minutes for meal #3 and another 4 or 5 minutes for meal #4. None of the meals were complicated--all straight from the menu.

Trina R.

Yelp
Great tortilla soup! The quality was second to none. This will definitely be my Tex-mex go to place.

Moises O.

Yelp
Yatzil consistently provides affordable quality TEX-Mex food deep in the heart of the Westside. The staff is super friendly and service is prompt and attentive. It is always busy, especially on weekends and during weekday lunch hours, so calculate that into your time equation. The only concern is the parking situation. I park in the parking lot catty corner from the restaurant on Zarzamora St and then hope drivers follow pedestrian safeguards as I cross the busy street.

Christina T.

Yelp
I had the enchiladas with carne gusada plate and it was very good! I'm very picky on both of those items and I'm pleased that they were so good. Their elcharro beans had good flavor with a tiny kick to them. I'm not a fan of hot dogs in my beans, but they were good. Service was great too! The only 2 things I didn't like was how loud it was and the smell of sewer. If I am on this side of town again, I'll definitely come back.

Diana L.

Yelp
Favorite place to eat breakfast. Friendly service and family-owned. Very good prices.

Erica M.

Yelp
This homely place moved to a bigger location off of Zarzamora in between Guadalupe and Commerce. The food is on point...all the tastes of my grandpa's kitchen. Service is getting there. I think with a bigger restaurant and more tables to serve comes some growing pains, but I'm patient and enjoy the food so this will be a weekly lunch spot for my family. Also, the sell tortillas by the dozen and they are everything you want in a homemade tortilla...no package stuff here. Also available is small and large to go cups of rice and beans. No matter how hard I try, my beans will never compare to these. They have that perfect refried bean flavor. So I have no shame in paying $4 for a large cup of refried beans and serving them with dinner. One more important note...the previous location was right across the street from a methadone clinic so there were always people hanging around asking you for money...the new place doesn't have the traffic and panhandlers of the meth clinic...big plus.

Marissa P.

Yelp
This is my new favorite breakfast spot. I don't live in the area, but when I'm in the mood for a delicious meal, I will make the drive to come back. Don't pass up this gem, the outside area isn't much to look at, but this place is worth the chance. Prices are great. My family of 4 ate for $23.00. Can't beat that!! My tacos were flavorful and to say the least, I didn't want my food to end! Great job, Yatzil!!

M G.

Yelp
They make the tastiest Tortilla Soup the cheese the avocado chunks the broth all come together for a good soup on a cold day

Desi S.

Yelp
I had a to go order. I've heard mixed reviews about this place. One coworker really liked it and one had a very bad experience. Overall I enjoyed it. The food was pretty good. I had a cheese enchilada plate. The tortillas were great. Looked clean inside.

Sara G.

Yelp
Amazing how breakfast!!! All fresh homemade tortillas, great menudo!! Fast & friendly service, & great prices!! Must try!!!

Christine K.

Yelp
Where to begin??? The food! I've never had a bad meal at Yatzil and I eat here quite frequently! Some of my favorite tacos are: potato and egg with extra crispy bacon on a flour tortilla tostadita. Bean and cheese with crispy bacon on a homemade corn tortilla tostadita, and picadillo on flour tortilla tostadita. What can I say? Apparently I like my tortillas tostaditas! Lunch specials are quite impressive at Yatzil. Monday through Friday you'll find at least two specials of the day. My favorite is on Friday: 3 enchiladas, rice, beans, tortillas, chips and salsa, and tea for $5.25!!! Wow! Some of my favorites on the lunch menu: beef puffy tacos, beef crispy tacos, cheese enchiladas, carne guisada, anything with queso fresco, their Mexican burger, and french fries. The restaurant is very clean and it is well taken care of. It's located in the West side of San Antonio. Don't be afraid to venture to this side of town. I've lived here my whole life and I love it! You'll see people from all walks of life here. Enjoy the show! The service is impeccable! Claudia is my absolute favorite server in the whole world. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive and there is a whole slew of regulars. It kinda feels like the "Cheers" of restaurants. I also appreciate that you frequently see the owner of Yatzil in the kitchen or running plates of food. He's a really nice and friendly guy! Bottom line: If you want great Mexican food reminiscent of your mama's, abuela's, tia's, or suegra's home cooking, Yatzil is where it's at!

Gabe C.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to come. Been eating here for two years. Great service great "authentic" TexMex food. Fresh homemade tortillas make it one of the best.

Francisco A.

Yelp
While this place wasn't terrible, it wasn't that great either. However, our server brought us the wrong food and we were so hungry we both took a bite and then realized "hey this isn't what we ordered" So we called the waitress over and told her, and she grabbed the plates from in front of us and took them away. Then made us wait another 10+ minutes to bring out our actual food, she did apologize which was nice and she was friendly but the thing I really didn't like was that the other waitress on shift was very visibly eating behind the counter, then going and checking on tables and grabbing plates and grabbing limes from the jar and then going back to eating and then back to handling customer's food and not once washing or sanitizing her hands. That's just gross no matter where you're from. The food was just okay, not anything to write home about, the salsa was literally tomato sauce with cilantro and onion thrown in. Tables sat dirty for a long time before anyone came to clean them up. Ayy Dios mío, another Mexican Restaurant with less than mediocre service. *sigh* Won't be coming back here again.

Juan B.

Yelp
I have rental property in the area and have to come and check on things. I used to go to Los Angeles Restaurant which is about 6 blocks away on the same street. I'm glad a friends told me about this...it is much cleaner....the staff is friendlier. It's a great place! Unlimited coffee which is better than Los Angeles because there you are limited to 2 cups.

Chris D.

Yelp
I placed an order over the phone. The whole time I was placing an order the gentleman was distracted and kept making me repeat things. When I got there to pick up the tacos he gave me my order and as I got home I realized they gave me the wrong order. I called and the person over the phone gave me attitude saying that the order was correct and kept talking over me. Very unprofessional.

Vlastana B.

Yelp
They need more parking spaces, but other than that! The food is really good... I haven't had anything I haven't liked, and those tortillas.... nice, thick and homemade. I wish they sold alcohol, but can't have everything, and I mostly eat there at lunch during the work week.

Alexis A.

Yelp
Nice cute place. I was getting my car fixed nearby and stopped in for a bite. Very affordable as well.

Catherine C.

Yelp
For those of you fellow yelpers who have yet to try this place you are missing out! This is my 4th visit here and I can honestly say I love this place. I have never had a bad meal or service here. The chori-quiles are amazing . The beans are delicious. I have also had their breakfast special tacos for 99 cents and they are huge and prepared fresh. Those things will hold you until dinner. Today I ordered the small menudo with extra hominy and a taco on the side. I can't wait to taste the menudo. Please venture to the west side and give this local business a try it's worth the trip.

Felicia Y.

Yelp
From the sweet tea to the plates this place is great. The bean and cheese with potato and the bacon and egg tacos are the best a must try. Their tortillas always taste fresh. Prices are great also!

Adrienne S.

Yelp
The food was good buuuut.......I ordered Huevos Rancheros with barbacoa. The Barbacoa had a lot of fat. I had to pick at it. The salsa on the eggs had so much onions I had to pick them away as well. Other than that the food was delicious and tortillas were to die for. Homemade corn and flour tortillas. Very yummy. Service was really fast but our server wasn't friendly. She wasn't rude by any means but even when I handed the tip to her, she just looked at me and took it. Not a smile or thank you but whatever. She still deserved her tip. Yes I would go ahead and recommend but I won't be back. There are to many other just as good restaurants in the area.

Will S.

Yelp
My friend Mike takes me to another fine Mom and Pop place. Excellent food, nice atmosphere and wonderful staff. We just went for breakfast so I had both a Carne Asada and Carne Guisada taco. A good guisada has an excellent sauce that complements the tender beef tips. I needed nothing extra on mine after the initial taste. Although their verde salsa was tasty when I added for contrast. The Asada I took to go for my lunch, also excellent. The meat was tender and savory. My friend Mike knows many fine places, so he says, if the others are anything like Yatzil then I'm in for a culinary gold mine. Thanks Mike!

Michelle E.

Yelp
Got there and parking is iffy at best in the am... having a Suburban made it harder but I snagged the one spot they had open. Busy! Went in expecting a huge wait but was able to walk up and place my to go order right away. And $.99 tacos? Yes please! Tried a little of a lot. I really liked the barbacoa taco, not too greasy but not dry. Picadillo is my test taco and it didn't disappoint. They make a great picadillo - not greasy, great texture - just enough potato and seasoned well. Picadillo and egg was phenomenal.. Husband had chorizo con huevos and said it was great. All in all great prices, great tacos, we found our new taco spot! The interior is really nice, not overdone but comfortable. Can't wait to go back and dine in!

Alex G.

Yelp
Local eatery with great food and crazy cheap prices. My favorite are the breakfast tacos, but their life nch plates are delicious as well. The neighborhood may be a bit sketchy so be sure you lock your cars, but the food is great.

Criselda G.

Yelp
This place was not how they explained to me, I was told the food was good. The menudo was greasy and had no taste very bland. My boyfriend's torta had a fly in the wrapper of it, the gordita was a tortilla that was coming up apart. The barbacoa was full of fat and flavor of lard. My daughter ordered huevo con papas blah no flavor or taste to the egg at all she ordered 2 and only took 2 bites we threw it away. All my daughter were the chips and salsa. You can tell they favor their usuals and forget about others when be waited on. Still in search of a GOOD Mexican restaurant. $40.00 down the drain I went home with a stomach ache and boyfriend with the runs that smell like he ate a dead animal.

Margee G.

Yelp
I've only tried bacon with egg and ham with egg tacos. The tortillas were good and so were the eggs nice and fluffy. The only thing I didn't like was that the ham was diced so tiny that it felt more like I was just eating plain egg taco. But other than that the coffee was great and most importantly the service was wonderful. Waitress was very nice and kept our coffee cup full. I like places that have great service so I will definitely be back.

Julie G.

Yelp
Really good food for such a good price, I always order the special and am always satisfied. Good customer service too! Recommend over other Mexican restaurants such as Mi Guadalajara. This restaurant has English speaking servers as well which is very convenient!!
