Yayo Daporta

"For those keen to experience the flavours of the Atlantic to the full, it’s hard to find a better place than this. Here, chef Yayo Daporta describes his cuisine as “based on common sense and the best possible taste”. What is certain is that there’s much more than this to his cuisine, which reinterprets Galician cooking, bringing it up to date in a way that takes it to another level. The sea takes pride of place with mussels, cockles, barnacles, seaweed and simply cooked razor clams all featuring in this attractive restaurant occupying a stone building that was once a royal hospital dating back to the 18C. The chef’s menus (Degustación and Gran Menú Yayo Daporta) demonstrate his unwavering loyalty to his local surroundings, with a focus on ingredients from the coast around Cambados and his own kitchen gardens (one in his own restaurant, the other in his Pazo A Capitana property). Make sure you visit the wine cellar managed by his wife, Esther Daporta, which guests can explore to choose their own wines!" - Michelin Inspector

Its a nice restaurant, but if you go with such a huge expectation of being a michelin restaurant, you wont be satisfied. It would have been nice if every dish had more texture, flavour and temperature variety. Again, if you dont have expectation, its a nice restaurant.

Hands down the best food and wine I had in Cambados! The food was so good I forgot to take any pictures until I was half way through dessert 😁 The grilled asparagus salad is excellent as is the Galician style cannelloni. 2 star dishes stood out though - the gorgeous little pot of egg, chorizo and potato cream was outstanding and the apple empañada for dessert was one of the best desserts I've had for a long time..

Lovely dining experience. We ate from the"August" degustation menu. Food was artistically prepared and tasted amazing.

Update- I had a food poisoning right after eating in this place - I could not leave the hotel for two days and my vacation was ruined

3.5 Somewhat disappointing, given the tremendous reputation of the place. Premises are beautiful. Tasting menu was largely good, but some dishes more pleasing than others. The genuine disappointment came from the service, which could best be described as inattentive. I had better experiences in the other local gastronomic restaurants

Good but there were a lot of inconsistencies which I would not expect from a restaurant rated in the Michelin guide. We had the same menu as the table beside us. They had a mussel dish which came on a bed of seaweed which had dry ice poured over it for a stunning effect. So when ours arrived I was ready with my camera but there was no ice for us, leaving us feeling a bit second rate. The pork fillet looked beautiful but my husbands piece was nice tender meat where as mine was just a square of fat. The food and service were good but the consistency of the end result just let it down.

Overall bad experience. Too expensive for Galicia. Offering same dishes you can eat in a regular tapas bar but gourmet prices. Service very very slow. They make us wait an eternity for the food and it wasn’t busy at all

PLEASE DO NOT GO YO THIS RESTAURANT- FOOD POISONING . I went with my partner for her birthday, although the food in general was good, one of the plates was merluza with clams al natural, the clams tasted a bit off, we are only one each and left the rest, nevertheless, we both had food poisoning that lasted for days, ruining the whole trip,. I would expect nothing but the best and highest quality ingredients in this type of restaurant, how hard is it to select good quality fresh clams when you only put two pieces in a plate
