It’s a chill casual place. The music wasn’t too loud, the decor is interesting, the staff was nice. Now the food…. I ordered the vegan burger, and it was delicious. It’s really difficult for me to find good veggie or vegan burgers, and this one didn’t let me down. My husband isn’t into burgers that much anymore, and he was amazed with his burger, the yellow city burger. The garlic Parmesan fries were amazing too, the right amount of crispy with great flavor.

Google
Holy cow! Delicious! We stopped here on our way across the country and the fish tacos and Korean BBQ Chicken sandwich were unreal. We like to think we know good food and this was GOOD FOOD! Definitely check 'em out if you're ever passing through Amarillo.

Google
“Most intentional Smashburger I’ve ever had!” 🫶🏾 I love when a good Google search leads me to a hidden gem, and that’s exactly what Yellow City in Amarillo, TX is. Small town, BIG chef flavors! Every bite felt intentional, from the balance of flavors to the care in presentation. Even the house salad and homemade peach preserves were fresh, vibrant, and thoughtfully crafted. You can tell the chef pours heart and creativity into each dish, making this place stand out in a way that’s rare for small-town dining. The selection of local beers on tap was also a fantastic touch, really adding to the experience and giving me a taste of Amarillo’s craft scene. It’s clear that Yellow City focuses on celebrating the local community, which adds another layer to the dining experience. Now, about the famous fish taco – while it didn’t fully meet my expectations (I was hoping for a super crispy batter), the fish itself was flaky and cooked to perfection, which showed the chef’s technique. I would have preferred a thinner tortilla to let the fish and the fantastic sauces take center stage. The sauce, by the way, was abundant – as a sauce lover, I enjoyed every bit of it, but I can see how someone less into sauces might find it a bit much. It’s a small adjustment in an otherwise excellent dish. Would I come back? ABSOLUTELY! Yellow City offers more than just great food – it’s an intentional dining experience that shows respect for local ingredients and culinary creativity. Can’t wait to try more from the menu next time!

Google
Best burger I've ever had and it was vegan! The food here is absolutely delicious. The kola soda was amazing and the atmosphere was really good. Service was kind, friendly and helpful. Felt like a very inclusive space. We will be returning customers from now on <3

Google
Great food. Great atmosphere. Lots of delicious, thoughtful vegan options. Pictured are the imposter taco (left) and dragon tofu taco (right). Both fantastic. No substitutions allowed, just FYI. Fine by me. [EDIT: See the restaurant's response below, I wasn't exactly right. This no-modifications rule only applies to some menu items.] One caveat: the prices for everything (vegan or not) are more like Dallas prices than Amarillo prices. I live in Dallas currently, so I don't mind. But I know some lifetime locals might not like that. Overall, I definitely recommend it! I'd say that, for anyone, it's worth going at least once. New favorite for me.

Google
Everything yes! The food was insane: fresh ingredients, bold flavors, so many vegan options that are actually delicious! I tried four different vegan tacos and all were seriously good. My favorite was actually just the vegan classic soft taco, but I also inhaled the vegan hulk. (Also four was 2+ meals) The staff was super extra fun and friendly, and the atmosphere was happy and hippie dippie. I was only passing through but I’m going to attempt to make this on my way again.

Google
So excited to find such tasty and interesting vegetarian/vegan options! Especially with both meat alternatives (impossible, chicken soy curls) and mushroom/tofu. We picked up for take out. We had the vegan hulk salad, dragon tofu salad, and kids tofu nuggets. We’d never had tofu nuggets before but loved these, the seasoned corn chips were also very good. Loved both salads, they were both very good. Maybe a bit small/light on greens but very filling with the toppings. The one of us who doesn’t handle spice found the sunny sauce on the dragon tofu salad too spicy to have much of, but the house remoulade was very good.

Google
Delicious food, laid back atmosphere, and kind staff. I had the Cubano sandwich and an iced tea. The jalapeño ranch fries were the highlight, but all the food and drink I had was filling and tasty!!! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. Drove through Amarillo with a friend and am low key sad I can't come back and eat here regularly!

Yelp
First timers Great setting and wonderful staff. Enjoyed the Chips and Queso for starters. My wife and I had Smash Burgers and they were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Their Craft Sodas were on point as well (Cherry Cream Soda and the Coconut). Definitely will be returning.

Yelp
Good food with a great vibe. My wife and I split their Santa Muerte Smash Burger, Famous Fish Taco, and Fried Mortadella Sandwich. I enjoyed the Fried Mortadella Sandwich the most. The fish tacos was seasoned and fried to perfection but personally I thought the cut of fish was way too big for the taco so the ratio of flavors was off. It's a casual restaurant with metal counter tops covered with stickers. I also appreciated their decoration. First thing I noticed upon walking is was a prominent black flag reminding you to BE A GOOD PERSON. I can dig it. Service was fast but we were there just before they closed between lunch and dinner so your experience may vary.

Yelp
Went here one time a couple years ago. I keep trying to go again when I go through Amarillo but it's not open when I'm in town. Every taco we had was top notch.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
A year later and it's still the best eclectic vegan tacos I've had! I said I would try something new but I folded and got the Diablo Shrimp and Dragon Tofu again and I'm so glad I did. Incredible!

Yelp
As a solo traveler I try and avoid big box restaurants and this little place fit the bill! Great atmosphere and the wait staff is genuinely NICE! Lots of vegan options and big shiny 5 STAR review because they sell Pup Patties (quite literally listed that way in their system) so my dog got grub too!! Dragon Tofu taco was so dang flavorful & paired well with cider! Thanks YCSF-- I will sing you praises all the way down Route 66!

Yelp
This is hands down best place in Amarillo for new exciting dishes you can't get anywhere else. The food is always good, fresh. The people are wonderful and service is always excellent. Best Brussels sprouts ever! Innovative, creative and delicious. This is a locally owned family business. Super happy we have YSSF in Amarillo.

Michael O.

Yelp
Food was really good and the staff was nice. Food variety was really cool too. We ordered a greasy burger and a lighter watermelon salad and they were both really solid. I will say the bathroom was pretty dirty.

Kevin T.

Yelp
Why are they closed at 6 pm on a Thursday? Awful operating hours. Hesitant to come back now
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
So so good! Always on the lookout for vegan food as we travel and they didn't disappoint. Friendly staff too.
google avatar

Ebony T.

Yelp
Wow!! The food was so amazing here I literally had to double back. This place does plant based options right with their diverse and delicious food options. The environment is laid back and the staff was kind and welcoming.
google avatar

Liberty W.

Yelp
Really great food and, though it is a "counter service" establishment, the presentation of the food was well done. We had a few different kinds of vegan tacos and my husband had an impossible burger - all were delicious. And the French fries are to die for! Service was quick and friendly. Overall, a terrific experience.

Annabelle H.

Yelp
Food was awesome! I especially loved the Jalapeño Ranch fries. Ambience is very progressive and welcoming.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and great vibe. Service was super friendly. I would rate it it a five of five.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Great flavors, inventive creative menu. Always delicious...............................................................................

Yelp
The most exotic, flavorful tacos I've come across. The place definitely earned all their stars and was worth the hassle of getting to them in a 40 ft RV . The tacos I wanted to try were unfortunately sold out...so make sure you get there early if it's something you're dying to try. It was also great having other options for my kiddos who aren't big taco fans! Make sure you try the fries, but make sure to ask for them crispy!
google avatar

Alexander O.

Yelp
Tacos and beer were good in a friendly and professional manner. It is a little bit over priced for my tasted but the experience was good overall and would go back.
google avatar

Elle L.

Yelp
We stopped by on our way home to Dallas and we loved it! I had the Dragon Tofu Taco and the Fish Taco Delicious! Husband had a Basic Burger with Ranch fries - also amazing! Fries made us think of cool ranch Doritos . Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Britney R.

Yelp
The fish taco and animal fries were delicious! Everything else on the menu looked awesome so it was hard to pick. The girl at the counter made a great recommendation! Loved the relaxed atmosphere and music. Highly recommend this local joint if you're in Amarillo!
google avatar

Tina M.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and the staff is top notch. Everything is cooked after you order so it can take a bit for food to get to you. They have a great selection of beers and tractor sodas rock.
google avatar

Janice J.

Yelp
I was searching for a place to grab lunch during my cross country road trip and saw the great reviews on Yelp. There was some outdoor seating, so great if you have a dog. The menu had lots of vegan options to choose from. I got the Diablo shrimp taco (vegan) and the impossible taco (deep fried mushrooms). They were really flavorful and full of flavor. The mushrooms had a great texture, perfectly fried and did not feel greasy. The vegan mushrooms were made of some kind of soy protein and had a similar texture to real shrimp, not exactly of course. I wish the tortillas were a little thinner, but it's just preference. Two tacos are enough, but if you're starving you can order a third or get some fries.
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
Stopped here while passing through Amarillo on a road trip and I'm glad we did because these were the best vegan Tacos I've ever eaten. So so so so delicious. I'd drive across Texas to eat here again.

Stefani D.

Yelp
Food is amazing, service is awesome. Amazing vegan options and lgbtq friendly! We stop through on road trips and wish we lived closer. We always stop on the way out and the way back home!
google avatar

Yelp
Great food right in the heart of Amarillo! Located on Route 66 this is a must see if you're riding through Amarillo, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun place to enjoy a nice Sunday lunch. The shrimp tacos were very good...spicy! Alcoholic Drink choices are limited to craft beers.
google avatar

Amber L.

Yelp
A not so hidden gem in Amarillo, this place was a nice break from our long road trip. It's easily located off the interstate too. Don't be fooled by the building or parking lot either. Order at the counter and check out their daily specials on the board. They have vegan mac and cheese that's worth trying too. I got a shrimp taco - gluten free and no dairy, and the creamy sauce was so good with a yummy Diablo kick at the end. Also finish everything off with a fancy soda, I went with coconut which I really enjoyed. I will definitely try this place again when I'm back in Amarillo.

William B.

Yelp
I am convinced this is Amarillo's best restaurant. I've enjoyed every meal I've had here, and I've never had the same thing twice. A little expensive, but worth the price for what it is.

Lauren L.

Yelp
So glad I found this place! My husband and I were driving through from Michigan to California and stopped here thanks to a reco on Reddit. As a vegetarian, I was very excited to see that every taco and burger had a vegan version. The banana blossom taco was incredible, and my husband loved the signature burger. And service could not have been better! If only this place wasn't a thousand miles away. But, we'll be back!
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
I'm not Vegan or Vegetarian but these tacos were on fire! If my travels take me back to this area I'll be a return customer for sure!
google avatar

Peter N.

Yelp
An awesome find! Driving out west and Amarillo is our halfway point today for lunch. This place definitely has a cool vibe inside, good music playing and a very large choice of foods - options both for carnivores, vegans, and those who like a bit of both. Wife and I got a large spread of the tacos and every bite was amazing. Excellent chips and salsa, and free refills on the sodas/iced tea.
google avatar

Debbi P.

Yelp
Fantastic food! I had the Hulk as a salad; simple, fresh & excellent flavor. My husband had the YCSF burger, which he also thought was very good. The staff were all professional & nice; they actually seemed happy to be there. The atmosphere is very Austin-esque, which I genuinely appreciate. After a week in the Dallas-Ft Worth area, where great restaurant choices are prolific, we thought this was the best food we'd had in quite a while. We will definitely return as we travel between CO and DFW & Austin many times a year.
google avatar

Beth W.

Yelp
Stopped here on our way to Sante Fe. Got the smash burger and tacos. Both were very good, service was great, beer selection was great, and an overall great vibe.
google avatar

Carla T.

Yelp
This place is so delicious. I ordered two tacos, the hulk and fish. The hulk had jerk chicken. Mmmmmm yummy and filling. My husband opted for the salad version of the hulk. Perfect. I knew this was the right place because I heard The Buzzcocks "Ever Fallen In Love" playing in the background.
google avatar

Alejandra U.

Yelp
I stopped here on a roadtrip from CA to PA & it was so good, I specifically requested to stop again on the trip back. The atmosphere is great. It's one of those places that you just feel safe to stop and enjoy a meal. Maybe it was the Wu-Tang sign on the front. Chill vibes. I can't remember what vegan tacos I had the first time around (Dec 2021), but the highlight taco of the second stop in June 2022 was the blackened "shrimp" taco. I have dreams of this taco. The "blackened" flavors came through in a way I've never had on vegan dishes. And it was perfectly spicy. The first couple bites didn't have much affect, but by the third the spice hits in just the perfect way. I'll be forever stopping here if I need to make a stop in Amarillo. I may even come out just to eat and enjoy the place.

Yelp
This little place has always made the best food, with great service, from employees who love what they do!! They have a few craft beers available, and all the items on the menu are original, refreshing, and made with an attention to detail that shines through!! Highly recommend!!...... and you absolutely have to try the animal fries!!!!! Life changer!!

Kathy W.

Yelp
This has been in town quite a while. There is also bar service. They have an unusual selection of wines and beers. The food is great, with vegan options. I need dairy-free , so the breakfast hamburger ( the closest I can describe) was filling and amazing. My son enjoyed the vegan chicken fry steak. The facility is pretty basic and very informal. But the food is exceptional.
google avatar

Kelli G.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the vibe of this spot. Great local beers on draft. The staff were friendly and attentive, and liked how they effectively run their counter order / open kitchen. The fish tacos 'as a salad' was amazing. Also appreciated their unique homemade tortillas with the Al pastor, they brought some nice heat! Definitely want to eat here again when in Amarillo.
google avatar

Krista B.

Yelp
The food was good. Service was very slow. Cooks need to learn to prepare more than one ticket at a time. I waited over 45 minutes for one Taco. It was good but not worth the 45 minute wait.
google avatar

TJ H.

Yelp
Awesome stop in Amarillo! Great tacos and fun vibe! Quick service. Good for the family.
google avatar

Edward A.

Yelp
So happy that they offer so many options for dairy-free (i.e. poison-free) diets. Most of the things we tried here were really good, but the jack fruit taco was a little disappointing for me. It had so many flavors it was almost too much. I was hoping for a simpler taste with more of the jack fruit flavor coming out. I think they are trying too hard to make it taste like something it's not. YCSF burger was simple and good. Naturally flavored on tap sodas were great. Super sweet for us, but still good.

Yelp
This place was a gem of a find. We were passing through Amarillo on a drive from OKC to Santa Fe. We hit Amarillo around lunchtime. We didn't want to take too much time and we were for sure we wanted something locally famous. We loved our quick in-and-out take out experience here. The food is fantastically upscale pub. Fish tacos were a home run. I loved the Reuben, but fair warning...it's a LOT of heavy sandwich. I really wanted to try their version of loaded fries. I was glad I did, but in the end the fries were too much paired with the Reuben. That Reuben/loaded fries combo definitely swung for the fences, though. I didn't eat for a while after that...lol. I think next time a lighter sandwich or tacos might be a better pairing with those gloriously loaded fries. Their fresh tea is great, too. I'd for sure recommend this spot without hesitation. It felt like a safe space in terms of pandemic precautions and the food was delicious. It's not too far from the highway and we were able to get gas at this exit and stop for food and it set us back about 40 mins or so. (We didn't call in our order ahead of time). I'll be on the lookout for this spot next time we're passing through. October 2020

Yelp
Food wasn't good and the service was terrible just my experience. The ambiance was very off putting as well.

Yelp
if you want something that is made with so much love and taste so amazing I mean AMAZING you gotta try this place. everything on the menu is phenomenal. they have amazing customer service every one is jus awesome there. I highly recommend this place to try

The D.

Yelp
Awesome food with menu changes all the time. It's a small facility so get in early. Can't wait to go again

General M.

Yelp
I had a terrible Cuban sandwich here. Sourdough just isn't the right bread. I complained about it and some guy named Gentry came out and told me I didn't know what I was talking about and that I should cook at home next time. Thought that was pretty unprofessional.
google avatar

Eddy M.

Yelp
I would give this place 5 stars if I didn't have to wait 45 minutes for a COLD breakfast sandwich. Egg yolk was dry and cold as well. Despite the sandwich being cold, it tasted pretty good. Bread was soft. Fries were warm and crispy. A simple apology would of been nice for the long wait and cold food.
google avatar

Denise B.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way back to California. We are vegan and we love this place! The vegan parm fries are terrific, the mushroom taco is delicious and the veggie burger rocks. We are so glad that we stopped to have dinner here! The staff is friendly and it was easy to get here from the Highway.

Yelp
Good food! Went about a week ago and loved it! I would totally recommend to all my friends

Yelp
Yellow City Street Food has an awesome thing going. The food was all fantastic! The tacos, brunch, and animal fries were all so good. Everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked equally as delicious. They place a sign right next to where you order displaying the expected wait time. Pay attention to it! It was pretty accurate when we were there. Yellow city does not rush the food out of the kitchen. It is all made to order. So, it may take a bit longer than other places. This may catch people off guard if they aren't expecting it but it is well worth the wait! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Great food and cozy ambience! We dropped by during a family road trip ( Thanks to Yelp!) and enjoyed our break. We had the specials I think and I regret not taking a pic. The teen boy had some kind of very juicy burger and I had a bowl of loaded fries topped with meats, veggies and delicious sauces. Husband had a Crunchwrap. They were all delicious but my fries were the ones stolen the most!
