"This 125th Street newcomer is a full-menu Yemeni restaurant, with dishes like salta, and lamb or chicken zurbian, both served in giant quantities fit for two diners. But most customers select the simple shawarma, shish kebab, or grilled fish, in platters or sandwiches. Baba ganoush and hummus served with a huge round bread hot from the oven is one of the best deals in Harlem. A separate breakfast menu is available after 10 a.m." - Robert Sietsema

This is my second time to visit this nice restaurant. First time I was greeted by Mohamed, a sweet Moroccan guy. I want to thank him for his wonderful customer engagement and friendly welcome. This time I was lucky to meet the chef himself, Mazen, who was a lovely guy as well. The whole staff is really friendly and nice. It’s my favorite place here in Harlem. Highly recommend it if you’d like to try really good and tasty Yemeni & Middle Eastern food with a friendly and clean atmosphere.

This was the first time my husband and I have tried Yemeni food. We ordered the combo for 2. Absolutely delicious ! 10/10 . Food is worth more than they currently charge. Will be back again and again. Highly recommend. Shout out to Mohammad for our excellent waiter service.

Please do yourself a favor and stop by this amazing restaurant. I never had Yemeni food prior to my visit, but I’m glad I gave it a try. I had the Fahsa fish which was hot and delicious. I was also offered fresh naan, hummus, and tea by the owner, who sat and broke bread with me 😄 All of the staff here are welcoming and kind, as well. Honestly, one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life 😩

Solid fresh chicken shawarma wrapped in a crisp seared pita. It’s a neighborhood deli-vibe establishment on the smaller side so no “aesthetics” but definitely good affordable food. I highly recommend the green chili sauce if your spice tolerance is average or above, because it really elevated the whole dish! It was 7:30ish when I stepped in and the kitchen was super busy, with two thirds of the tables full. More people came in as I was eating though so the stream of orders seemed to never end. Definitely want to come back to try other dishes :)

I’ve had this Yemeni restaurant on my list for a while and I’ve been dying to try for so long now, and finally had the opportunity to visit this absolute exquisite restaurant on a very nice chilly Thursday night after I and some friends went out shopping and what better way to enjoy our evening other than some of the finest authentic Yemeni food in the city. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere with soothing , warm and welcoming interior  that instantly connected with my heart and brought me back to the heart of arabian night; displayed throughout the restaurant were beautiful paintings and antique arabian peninsula items that showcased the great era and history of Arabs; very friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. I wanted my friends to get the full on experience and hospitality of Arabs so we went with the more traditional homemade style rices dishes of peninsula and also mixing it a bit with some fine stews. After glazing around the menu for a couple of minutes, we finally we able to decide on ordering: Margh Fahsa Haneeth Agda Kabsa Areeka The Margh, a comforting soup, was the perfect start on a cold evening—rich, smooth, and full of flavor. The Fahsa was a standout—soft, tender, perfectly spiced, and one of the best I’ve had in New York. I can still taste it! To emphasize on how outstanding it was we ended up getting a second one! I will have to say though that their Fahsa was as fine as it got in terms of arabian stews, very soft, sweet, tender, yet with the perfect amount of spice that balances everything together as arabians stews always should be be when made finely, so it really settled well on our tongues; honestly one of the best finely crafted Fahsas I’ve had in New york: the taste is still there I remember it to this day. The Haneeth and Kabsa were equally exceptional. The Haneeth was mouthwatering, with tender meat that melted in my mouth. The Kabsa, a dish close to my heart as it’s my country’s national dish, was masterfully prepared. It struck the perfect balance of spices, sweetness, and textures, with golden raisins and almonds adding a delightful twist. I’ve always been picking when it comes to these two dishes as Kabsa is my country’s National dish as not all restaurants are able to create the nice balance of spicy and flavorful yet having a balanced sweetness to it; but I can assure you when it came to this restaurant the Haneeth was one of my favorite dishes that day that we ordered. I’ve heard many rave about this restaurant, and it truly lives up to its reputation. The flavors are authentic and reminiscent of home, raising my expectations for Yemeni cuisine in NYC. Lastly I’d like to highlight our friendly waiters that made us feel more at home, I sadly cannot remember their names but they were truly the kindest: very positive and polite, helped with recommendations, meals he enjoyed, and everything! Very talkative and welcoming to the restaurant , I really enjoyed having him as our waitress; would definitely ask for them when I come back again! I’ve been to this restaurant once so far, and I really can’t emphasize this enough when I say i really dish not get enough of their mouthwatering Arabian dishes. Overall, I cannot recommend Yemeni Restaurant NYC enough - the atmosphere, the food, and the service were all top-notch. If you're looking for a taste of perisa in Harlem ave, look no further than here! It’s a must try. I’m coming back again and again for sure! ^ I usually do a much better job with pictures, I really did not do them justice with this one

Randomly happened upon this restaurant on a Monday evening. My friends and I don't know much about Yemeni cuisine, and asked for recommendations. The server was super friendly and suggested that we order the fahsa (comes with bread) and roasted lamb with rice. We also got babaganoush and chicken shawarma. The fahsa and roasted lamb entrees were phenomenal in terms of taste and texture. The roasted lamb falls right off the bone. The server asked if we wanted their special hot sauce, which was an olive green color and had a nice citrus-y tartness to it. It paired wonderfully with the lamb dishes. The large bread was fresh and had a nice chewiness that was addictive. I enjoyed the taste of tahini in the babaganoush, but as my friend pointed out, it wasn't quite salty enough. For dessert we got the areeka at the server's suggestion as well. It took a bit of time to make it fresh, but worth the wait! It had a cake - like bottom with delicious bubbling cream and nuts on top. Fragrant and rich! Highly recommend this place for the food and service. I don't mind the single-use utensils, and the restaurant decor is on the casual side, and might be worth noting.

This place is different than other where you feel comfortable ordering different types of food. They also donate whatever leftover they have of the day to charity so there’s no waste. I would support this place for this reason as well the good taste of meat and rice.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS RIP OFF! Can’t believe this is a 4.9 star-reviewed place and that I spent 45 usd for 2 rice dishes (Biryani and Mendi) plus the Baklava. It was not worth it at all, overpriced and very bland flavorless rice, and dry, old chicken. I’m East Asian and I make better Biryani than this— it’s so disappointing, and for a way less budget. The reviews they have were probably paid ones, because 4.9 for this does not make sense at all.
