Can get quite busy. Excellent restaurant. Great selection. Good prices. Good service. Good portions. Took a lot of food home with me. I go there frequently.

My wife prefers this restaurant over my own preference. Very straight forward basic chinese food. Food looks very simple but flavorful. Gave 4 star for the price of dinner family option and lunch specials. Service was also very prompt.

I was taking my daughter somewhere new for lunch & wanted to try Yen Du because the reviews are fantastic. Upon entry, I was shocked by the beautiful decor. Atmosphere A+! We arrived just as they were opening & were quickly seated. This place filled up fast. People coming & going for dine in & take-out. What struck me most was the familiarity the staff/owners had with the guests. They knew each other. When I described us as “Guest”, you are treated like one. We chose a dinner for 2, which was more than we could eat. Food was delicious & service beyond A+. Will definitely go back.

Google
The restaurant is quite big, the lunch is cheap, the service is fast, and the people are nice. The food's ok. Parking area is small. 11/15/23 I ordered for 3 peoples menu which served 6 items. All of them are good. The restaurant is quite full and busy and many order for to-go. There are only 2 servers and 1 cashier, but they're all work very fast.

I have been eating here for several years. They offer a lunch menu, a dinner menu and plenty of appetizers. We decided on fried beef, spring rolls and eggs rolls. Everything was delicious. With the fried beef I was given three types of sauces, sweet and sour, soy sauce and another sayce that tasted like a katsu sauce. You order your meal by plates and that is how you are charged. We had the house chicken and the chicken chow mein. Each plate comes with two wontons, rice and soup with tofu and mushrooms. One plate can serve two people. The house chicken is battered and fried and comes in a spicy sauce. It also is served with peas and carrots. The chicken chow mein tastes fresh and there are pieces of chicken throughout. The waiter we had was quick and was checking on us. He made sure our food taste great and if we needed anything. Overall, we only thought the negatice part was the missing napkins. They used to be more "upscale" but with inflation, things must change. The atmosphere is beautuful. Be sure to check out the elobrate celing and the fixtures. They are beautuful. The resturant stats fairly quiet except for conversations. They offer tables and chaurs and also bigger rooms for larger parties.

This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Service was attentive, food was excellent. Our server provided great explanations when we had questions. Our drinks were always refilled before they reached empty

Google
I placed an over the phone "to go" order for their house chicken (similar to orange chicken) and their salt and pepper fish. Maybe their prices are higher for the to go orders? Not sure, but I paid more than I expected because I was going off the menu pictures I seen online. The house chicken was good. The Salt and Pepper fish was a pass. The menu states there is only salt, pepper and jalepenos on it however, mines was drowning in burnt minced garlic. It appeared that at least 30 garlic cloves were used and as much as I tried to scrape it off and eat the fish, I tasted a strong aftertaste from the burnt garlic. I had to throw it out. If I would have known it was going to have garlic in it, I would not have ordered it. I will post an updated to go menu prices so everyone can be better prepared.

Google
Best kung pao chicken I’ve had in decades: good sting yet also real flavors. Fast, pleasant service, great lunch special prices, in a beautiful environment. Learn the secret of how to find its parking lot: it’s worth it!

Yelp
Hands down, Yen Du is our favorite Chinese restaurant north of San Francisco. From the moment you step in, you're welcomed like family--the owner/host at the front greets you with genuine warmth that sets the tone for the entire experience. The interior design is absolutely grand--a nostalgic throwback to the fabulous Chinese restaurants of the '80s and '90s, where dining in was an event, not an afterthought. Service? Impeccable. Andy is a total standout--friendly, attentive, and always on point with recommendations and timing. You feel looked after without ever being rushed. Now the food--chef's kiss. I'm not a big veggie fan, but their string beans and beef made me a believer. Perfectly cooked, savory, and bursting with flavor--this dish alone is reason enough to come back. Their hot and sour pork is bold, balanced, and hits all the right notes. And don't even get me started on the chicken wings--they're that good. Think San Tung in SF, but without the wait and with friendlier vibes. If you're looking for a place that serves outstanding Chinese food with heart, soul, and style--Yen Du is it.

Yelp
Yen Du is hands down one of the best Chinese food spots I've been to--second only to my longtime favorite in Chinatown, San Francisco. The flavors are bold, the portions are generous, and everything tastes fresh and made with care. Every dish we ordered hit the mark, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back and try everything on the menu. If you're craving Chinese food that actually delivers on flavor and quality, Yen Du is the move. Total hidden gem!

Yelp
Ambiance is outdated but good makes up for it. The flavors and quality of the food are exactly what I expect when I'm craving Chinese. Service is extremely fast and food is fresh. Wish they were on DoorDash tho since I'm sometimes too lazy to pick up my own food lol.

Yelp
Hands down best Chinese in Stockton. The workers are so friendly and the service is just as good as the food the owner is the sweetest and she is an absolute joy to be around! My favorite Chinese in the area !

Yelp
Came to try this place for dinner. Dined inside. Started with the wonton soup which was delicious. Got the house fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, honey walnut prawns, and broccoli and beef. All were delicious. The service was excellent as well. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday evening. Lots of families dining in. Definitely will be back again.

Yelp
Since I didn't do a birthday dinner on my actual birthday, I decided to have my birthday lunch here today. We arrived right when they opened and missed the lunch rush by 10 mins. This places get pretty packed during lunch. It was our first time trying out this restaurant in the area and we enjoyed our experience here. We opted for the Mandarin Dinner option Y which is good for 4 people and cost $70. The following dishes are: Won ton soup Eggs rolls Sweet and sour pork Almond chicken Mongolian beef Assorted vegetables Steamed rice Food came out quick. They actually gave us a dish by mistake which was not part of what we ordered. Overall, we enjoyed all the dishes we got. Service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
Came here on the middle of the day. Parking was very limited in front of the restaurant but fortunately we got a spot right away. As soon as we entered, we noticed all the decor. Chinese art, colors, designs and furniture, definitely gave the feel of an authentic Chinese restaurant. We were sat immediately. Our server was absolutely amazing. He was pretty much the only one taking orders and serving each table. As busy as he was he always had a smile and was friendly. When ordering we had previously seen a picture of a soup but we didn't notice it on the menu. When we asked our server about it, he advised us of what it was (it was a custom order by previous customers), and he offered to make it again. Needless to say it was delicious. Serving size for the soup was big and we were able to split it amongst three people each with a generous serving size. The rest of the food was just as awesome. Tasty, fresh and they were quick to prepare it. The salt and pepper fried chicken had such a crunchy outside and a juicy inside, it was delicious. This spot is a must if you're in the area.

Yelp
I called and picked up a couple of items to bring to my aunt and uncle's home on one of my occasional visits. I don't know the food scene out in this town, so I just went with what was close to their neighborhood that had good ratings. Enter Yen Du. First off it is in a very weird strip, almost like a storage/warehouse type of strip. The parking lot is narrow and one way and you have to go completely around the building in order to get out. But inside looks like a Chinese restaurant would like back in the 80's out in the Bay Area, where they would actually try and create an ambiance to match the menu. When I was growing up going out for a Chinese meal was kind of a special occasion thing, like someone had a bday, a graduation or a promotion. There was often tablecloths, a large table with a lazy susan, nice laterns or lighting and nice and heavy plates and bowls. Now a lot of that charm is gone but this place gave me glimpses from those days. Another thing that was glaring to me was that I was probably the only customer that had an Asian background. I thought Stockton was a bit more diverse, as I haven't seen that in a Chinese restaurant out in the Bay Area since the 80's. It was a trip. Lol. House Chow Mein ($14/3.5*) Good amount of thicker lo mein noodles which I like as it is chewier and has meatier bites. Not a whole lot of wok hei but they definitely use a bit of soy to darken and flavor the noodles. Good amount of meat chunks a combo of shrimp, pork and chicken I believe. But those proteins didn't have that vibrant sear from a hot wok, just seemed all steamed in that sauce to me. Nothing horrible, just not very skillful. Beef with Chinese Greens ($15/3*) I think I asked to see if they had the Beef with Asparagus available in early summer but they didn't. Asparagus is actually grown and quite local to this valley so I thought that it would be quite easy to find it, but not really. So I got this instead. Again, not a lot of searing and just seems they like to make a wet sauce with garlic and soy or oyster sauce and just steam and toss everything. Kinda like a home cook's stir fry versus a legit Chinese chef who can man-handle that wok. Again nothing horrible, just was wishing for more, since their rating was so high. At least now I know how this town rates ethnic food. But still rounding up as the employee who rang me up amongst the line of people waiting to get a table during lunch was efficient and friendly. And my aunt and uncle who aren't foodies by any means was happy with what I brought. I suppose they fit in Stockton just fine. Lol

Yelp
Best Chinese restaurant this side of San Francisco! My daughter lives in Tracy and we live in Placerville, so we past by/through Stockton on comings & goings. On one trip we had a hankering for Chinese food, and found this place on Google. Yen Du sauces are excellent. Everything is made from fresh ingredients. I prefer the potstickers, while my wife likes the egg rolls. The start of the two dish meal was sizzling rice soup, which is flavorful, but light broth. The moo shu pork has a wonderful fresh ginger sauce, and the Yen Du chicken has a great orange, garlic flavor. This is our second time, and we'll be back for more.

Yelp
This is a family owned restaurant. Servers are very welcoming. The restaurant is your typical Chinese food restaurant, it's roomy and clean. We come here often or tend to order take-out on a regular basis. The food and service never disappoint. From the soups to the appetizers to the main dishes, everything is always delicious as expected. We will continue being loyal patrons.

Yelp
Service is super quick but parking is a pain in the butt. We had to park on the street because their entire lot was full. We unfortunately missed their first seating so we got stuck on one of the tables in the middle of the restaurant. Their lunch special was a good value but taste was lacking. I got the king pao chicken and let's just say I wouldn't get that again. The flavor was bland and even with chili sauce it was still lacking flavor. We also got the fried green beans which was a huuuuge portion but delicious! Their king pao chicken misses the mark but I would be willing to try other dishes.

Yelp
THE BEST CHINESE IN STOCKTON! This place is a must l absolutely love the food & the service of course. Andy is my favorite server I request him every time we go there. The chili vegetables are a must as well as the fried green beans and the house chicken! Try everything on the menu eventually because there is not one bad thing l've had here. The ceiling art is beautiful as well. Makes you feel very traditional & homey vibes

Yelp
Yen Du is an elegant Chinese restaurant. There are separate alcoves for large parties and high backed booths that feel very private and cozy. The food is excellent and the service impeccable. It can be hard to find the first time, but totally worth it.
google avatar

Tim T.

Yelp
Yen Du is a Stockton must for chinese food. Fresh, delicious chinese food made to order. The service is always excellent. This is a small family run business and they take pride in their restaurant. The place has intricate chinese style decor. They have booths and tables and even private rooms for bigger parties. But the star is the food. From house chicken to their chow mein and fried rice. They salt & pepper wings, chow fun, mongolian beef, mmm getting hungry as I write this. Some of the best fried asparagus when in season. Their soups, seafood and tofu dishes are equally good. They have lunch plates, all at a reasonable price. If you haven't tried it, hurry up and go and uou will llve it!

Yelp
It was our first time there the food was so good service was excellent. Definitely coming back. The price was good. Felt nice and relaxing not noisy.

Yelp
The food is fantastic. Fresh, hot and delicious. Some of our favorite dishes are chicken fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp and chicken, tofu and chow mein.

Yelp
Although I would normally give them a 4 because we missed part of our takeout order I am giving them a five because when I called and we reviewed the order they told me I could come in and receive a dish for free and took my name and number down so on that fact alone, I am moving my rating back up to five because the food was amazing. I took pictures of everything before my family dug into it. This was a takeout order, but I did try and get better pictures of the menu and some part of the ambience, which was really quite lovely. Although my family disagreed with me, I thought this was way better than another local large Chinese food place in Stockton and it was far better tasting and price wise plus the staff was extremely helpful and nice unlike the other place which I will not name, but I'm pretty sure if you eat Chinese food in Stockton, you know who it is.
google avatar

Yelp
I really liked the food from this place I got the House chow mein and fried prawns off the lunch menu and both were really good. The lady at the front was vary nice, only meet her since I ordered to go. Place was very full definitely a local favorite.

Yelp
Very good place for Chinese food, always hot and fresh. Tried a few spots and this place is unmatched.
google avatar

Connie Q.

Yelp
Excellent food, hot and fresh. The restaurant is clean. They also have private booths that can sit I believe 10 or 12 people for a private party birthday party anniversary etc party. I am so glad I found this place. I was having a hard time finding good Chinese food in Stockton and I'm definitely going back.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the vibes are golden. More than that, the service is impeccable. The staff is so friendly! When we wanted a lunch spot after my father-in-law's memorial service, they reserved their party room, helped us decide on a menu, and were just on top of everything.

Lina B.

Yelp
This is the best Chinese restaurant in Stockton! I've been going here for over 20 years now and they've never disappointed. The food is tasty with big portions to share. The staff has been there for years and they're very friendly and family-orientated. The owner is great as well! I highly recommend. I wish they were open 7 days a week!

Yelp
Stopped in before a concert at the Bob Hope Theater and it was a good meal for a spontaneous restaurant find. Classic Chinese restaurant menu with lots of choices at very reasonable prices. The service was extremely nice from our gentleman server. We ordered veggie fried rice, salt and pepper wings and prawns with lobster sauce. That's the best dish I've had of prawns in lobster sauce ever. We enjoyed it all. The restaurant has a local neighborhood feel, a little dated on the decor. Families, friend groups and couples filled the place. Lots of take out being picked up too. I'd go back for the prawn dish!

David B.

Yelp
BOIII!!! It all tasted good and the service was great. I got two lunch specials , Mongolian beef and the prawns. The veggies were cooked perfectly ( to my taste, which is very soft but not mushy ) and seasoned to perfection. I'll be back and I'm bringing the fam next time 10/10

Ray T.

Yelp
Great service and tasty food! The restaurant has a beautiful interior with a authentic Chinese look.
google avatar

Dominique D.

Yelp
I've eaten inside plenty of time and the food and service is always a 4/5 however I ordered Togo for the first time and just spent $65 for bland food. Nothing had any flavor or color. Fried rice tasted like steamed rice, Mongolian beef taste like plain cooked beef, chow mein tasted like steamed noodles. I can not believe the food in house vs Togo differs in such a way. The food even looks different Togo than if you were to sit down in the restaurant. If you need to order to go I wouldn't bother ordering here. $65 down the drain.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything I've ever ordered here over 20+ yearsvis delicious. One if my favorite Chinese spots

Jade L.

Yelp
First time here and I ordered to go! I ordered around 7:30 and picked the food up around 8 but the entrance gate was closed. The person who took my order told me to come through the exit (which says do not enter, because it's a one way) which in hindsight is very dangerous if there's cars coming out because it's so narrow and you really can't see since it's the exit. The food was $75, I ordered shrimp fried rice, pork chow mein, the house chicken, salt & pepper fish, and honey walnut prawns. Everything was good! The salt & pepper fish was a little too salty on some pieces, but was still good. I wish the fried rice & the chow mein were the same portions as if you were to dine in because the pictures on yelp look like a lot more than the to go box. Overall the ambiance of the restaurant looked nice and the service was fast, I will definitely come here again whenever I crave Chinese food.

Kayla P.

Yelp
this place is great! customer service is amazing. my family & I walked in 30 min before closing n they were so sweet ab it. food was good too :)

Yelp
I've always liked the food here, and still do. But today when I picked up my order, I was denied a cup of water. I had to wait for my food. I'm a senior and If they want my business, I should be treated humanely

Yelp
Very very good food, great service, and nicely designed interior. Was kinda loud but not that bad.

Yelp
Hadn't had a meal here in forever.. My lunch mate suggested to come here and we had the weekday lunch specials, the sautéed eggplant looked delicious & my lunch mate said it was delicious. I had sweet & sour chicken, not all sweet & sour are good, but this was really good. The soup served with lunch was excellent as was the service! So good I returned with another friend a week later. We ordered garlic string beans, chicken in foil, roast pork chowmein & white rice on the side. Again, did not disappoint!

Yelp
Yen Du is my family's favorite Chinese food r! Their entire menu is so delicious. We had a favorite restaurant in San Francisco near Ocean Beach that we used to go to when we lived there. My sisters took me to Yen Du and I was so grateful and delighted to dine here. Their menu and taste is identical that we enjoyed. It's family oriented, portions are great plus their customer service is amazing. The ambiance was relaxing and soft atmosphere. I have introduced a few friends and family to Yen Du and they were delighted, we will continue to frequent Yen Du.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times. Food is delicious. Service is fast. Employees very nice and accommodating

Yelp
This is hands down the best sit down Chinese restaurant in Stockton! We ordered the Yen Du Dinner Option A for 2 people which comes with: Sizzling rice soup, pot stickers, house chicken, Mongolian beef, and steamed rice all for $34 which is absolutely shocking. We also decided to order the salt and pepper fish. Our favorites would have to be the sizzling rice soup, Mongolian beef, and the salt and pepper fish. The fish was so soft and covered in a crispy layer of seasoned batter. The sauces for the meats, and just all the dishes in general were not too salty which is usually a problem for Chinese restaurants and we really appreciated that. Lastly, the soup provided a nice intro to our meal as it was packed with flavor, warm, filled with veggies, and balanced with some crispy rice. Our waiter worked so hard and provided exceptional service. We saw him take orders, bring out food, clean tables, refill drinks, and answer any requests for all tables all by himself. AMAZING! Everything came out piping hot, perfectly seasoned, and was served in huge portion sizes. We usually leave no crumbs when we eat out, but we had to pack up some to go boxes because we simply couldn't eat anymore. I've been here twice and both times, the restaurant was busy, but you'll always be seated without having to wait. There's also a designated parking lot that has lots of available spots as well. I can't wait to be back to try some of their other dishes!

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem! This place is absolutely delicious - hands down the best house chow mein I have ever tasted!!!! Do not walk - run to this spot. Its worth it, portions are good for what you pay - you'll have left overs for lunch and it tastes even better the next day is that weird? Lol

Yelp
Chinese food is my least favorite, but this place right here can take my money anytime. Always fresh, tasty and the restaurant is always clean!!

Yelp
I really was hoping that this restaurant was as good as everybody on Facebook had said because I am a lover of Chinese food, unfortunately, my family and I were very disappointed. My family, and I ordered sizzling rice soup, which was decent. Had to add a little soy sauce because the broth didn't really have flavor. We ordered for our main entrées, chicken fried rice, sweet-and-sour chicken, vegetable chow main, and Mongolian beef. I am a lover of fried rice, barbecue pork fried rice is my favorite, which they do not offer. The fried rice that they served us was probably one of the worst I've ever had. It was mushy and had no flavor at all. The chow mein was kind of the same, really no flavor, really thin noodles and greasy. Mongolian beef was just OK nothing to rant and rave about and the sweet-and-sour chicken, I would say was mediocre at most, but was the tastiest plate that we ordered from this restaurant out of everything. My family and I have come to the conclusion that we will not be back to this restaurant.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in my hometown, whenever I come back or drive through the area, I want to stop by for their lunch special. Their Mongolian beef is my absolute favorite, but pretty much everything is amazing, including service and ambience.
