Yeon Sushi

During my trip to the U.S., the best food I had was sushi. The quality of the fish was exceptional, and everything from the appetizers to the dessert was perfect. You could really feel the care and high-quality ingredients in every dish. The service was also incredibly friendly. I enjoyed a delicious omakase with friends in a private room. If I ever travel to the U.S. again, I’ll definitely visit this place again. Highly recommended!

Just had the most intimate and lovely Sunday lunch here. We went when they opened (11:30 AM) so we were only ones there. First time here so wanted to get various sashimi and nigiri before coming back for the omakase. We got the Sea Bream, Albacore, and Tuna Toro sashimi and it was an absolute delight. Normally, I do like my sashimi unaccompanied with any garnish or sauce but I did not mind it here. The chef knows the fish he is working with and added light sauce and garnishes that worked with each different order. Then, we got the scallop nigiri that was fresh and so buttery it just melted in your mouth. The unagi nigiri was "aburi"ed properly, so it was a bit smokey but did not take away from the taste of the eel. We also enjoyed the salmon avocado rolls, which were huge; usually, sushi places give you 6 pieces of regular maki rolls, but they gave us 8 pieces. The service was great. Granted we were the only one but liked that the server was efficient and polite and not too in your face. She kept her distance to not rush us but was available when we needed to order, refill our water glasses and get the check.

I am almost passed up this lil hidden gem. Decided to turn in and give it a try. The sushi was the best sushi I have had in years. The service was even better! Free parking and not crowded! I could not ask for more.

Decided to stop by and try this new sushi place after grabbing a coffee upstairs. The fish was some of the freshest I have had in a really long time. I grabbed a seat at the bar and the sushi chef Peter was really funny and nice. Will stop by again. Parking can be hard to find but thankfully there was valet.

There were so many people lined up outside that it took a while to receive our food. The servers were busy but they seemed to be doing their best. The food was delicious so all was forgiven. I have to come again on a weekday. Overall a successful Valentine's date.

DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION ONLINE. This business is no longer in business. I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day for myself & my girlfriend. When we arrived we were told that Yeon was no longer in business & reservations made through open table would not be honored.

Chef Peter and Alex were great. Very attentive, friendly ,helpful. And the food was excellent. Will definitely be coming back. And recommending to family and friends.

It's an amazing restaurant, I went last night with my boyfriend from Valentine's Day 🥰 the tuna cheek from the chef was incredible.

The restaurant never disappoints me! Once again, their service and food quality is amazing. Compared to other sushi restaurants, they prepare their sashimi in a unique way. For each piece, they provide a tailored spice with it that compliments its taste. If you want a great sushi place in Ktown, look no further and come to Yeon Omakase!

I visited for dinner with a girlfriend on a weekday evening, and it was surprisingly quiet. It was a bit disappointing because the food was excellent, and we had a great time. We loved the YELLOWTAIL CARPACCIO, SPICY TUNA CRISPY RICE, VEGETABLE TEMPURA, and the KAKE UDON. Will definitely be back to try the rolls! ENJOY! PS: Parking is $4. Not terrible to be honest.

Food 5/5: so fresh, melts in your mouth. Full of flavor. Rice isn't overly sweet either, the quality is definitely there. Service 5/5, very friendly Ambiance is good for dates, highly rec!

This is an overdue review! Came here a few months ago for dinner on a Sunday. This place is located towards the inner part of the strip mall so it can be hard to miss. Surprisingly it wasn't packed but there was another party or two in the restaurant. I was asked if I wanted a table or bar.. I chose the bar in order to interact with the chef. It was Chef Peter at that time, but I heard he's no longer here. However, I did hear good reviews about the new chef too. I ordered the assorted nigiri and a roll. The chef was awesome. He took his time to make each piece and place it in front of me, all the while explaining what it is. The ingredients were super fresh and each piece tasted so delicious. Service definitely exceeded expectations. Pricing was reasonable. Definitely a hidden gem in Ktown!

This place has been on my list for a minute so I finally checked it out. It's in a plaza that has parking(!!). The ambiance was relaxing and I must say the chef was oh so kind! I ordered the 10-piece nigiri and he ended up giving me 12 pieces plus miso soup and a yummy sashimi salad. I absolutely loved the service here and the quality of the fish was spectacular. On top of that, you can really tell the chef is keen on flavors. Thank you! Will definitely be back! Everyone, please check this place out!

My friend and I were in the area and were craving sushi and this place happened to be the closest. It was happy hour which was a pleasant surprise with buy 1 get 1 roll 50% off. The salmon/avocado hand rolls were so good and fresh, but the baked crawfish and rainbow rolls were okay. There was too much rice and tasted a bit stale.

Assorted nigiri had great selection of fresh fish! Absolutely loved how the rice was lightly flavored with soy sauce for perfect tasting bites! The udon was rich in flavor and appreciated the marinated egg drooling its yolk lightly into the soup The spicy crispy rice was perfectly crunch with a generous amount of spicy tuna on top

Came for a friends birthday and chose because of h positive reviews. Didn't disappoint. Food wasn't too pricey and very good. My favorite part from this restaurant was definitely the ambiance, very chill and not loud. Loved the authentic Japanese feel as well. Service was great too, don't remember his name but he was attentive and very friendly. Will definitely be coming back.

the location is hidden away in a koreatown plaza. it can be a bit hard to find but definitely a place worth trying out! ~Food~ starters: jalapeño bomb and vegetable tempura. these were all great starters and portion sizes were satisfying nigiri: salmon, yellowtail, wagyu, uni, scallop, sweet shrimp, amberjack and smelt egg. everything except the amberjack was so fresh and delicious. i particularly loved the uni and scallop, but the amberjack was a bit chewy also ordered the halibut carpaccio and rainbow roll. the rainbow roll wasn't too amazing, standard roll but the halibut carpaccio was amazing! the truffle oil paired so well with the tender fish we also received a few complimentary items like agedashi tofu and teriyaki chicken, which was a nice gesture. these were also delicious ~Service: there were some issues in the beginning with the order (wrong orders came in and we didn't know which order was for who, but they settled it very quickly and gave us the additional items for free). very nice service ~Cost: $$$ (~$100 per person for a filling meal) can be pricey but the quality stands up to the price ~Parking: plaza has limited parking and valet parking available for dinner

NOW THIS. is the best sushi i have tried around here. i have reccomended this place to so many of my friends. i am a sushi lover and this place deserves more love 100%. i will start off this review by saying i used to work at a sushi shop. this place is somewhere you don't go for rolls, rather nigiri (in the best way possible). the first time we came here we got the 10 pc assorted nigiri for $55. ARE U KIDDING ME!!!! that's an excellent price for high quality sushi with this texture. it feels like omakase. not even kidding. we did try rolls and sashimi the second time we came because it was happy hour. can we admire this beautiful plating?? the carrot bird is so freaking cute. please please please come to yeon :,) it's really the best sushi place for nigiri in koreatown.

Came here for late lunch on a Thursday and the place was empty. I'm guessing. The lunch rush is over. There was 3 of us and we seated at the bar. We were looking forward to the omakase but was informed that it's by reservations only. Services was very attentive. Chefs were not very talkative but food was serve in a great pace. I was disappointing because we couldn't have the omakase but let me tell you. Everything we ordered was phenomena: -Premium sashimi (chef was nice enough to split it to 3 portion) -sweet shrimps, uni, Wagyu, Japanese scallops, amber jack, toro, and marinated shrimps (prolly least impress after our spread). It was very quiet as we were the only one there so I don't know how services or ambience would be if it's full, but our experiences was amazing. I will definitely look forward to coming back here.

don't walk RUN to yeon sushi!! I had seen this spot reopen over the summer as I live across the street but only just recently made the trip over with my partner. we made a reservation same day but it wasn't too crowded and walk-ins are welcome! we sat at the sushi bar which was the BEST decision because the sushi chef, John, was amazing! He gave us recommendations of new things to try that were absolutely spectacular (engawa nigiri, fin) and he had the best combinations ever. we ordered a few nigiris (sake, toro, kanpachi, unagi, engawa). favorites were engawa and unagi! had me droooooling. their crispy rice with tuna was so crispy and yummy with avocado on top and delicious sauce. lastly we ordered a baked salmon roll just to switch it up and oh my godddd it was so good every dish here blew me away and the experience was made that much better by sushi Chef John. he said he's making some changes to the menu which is a bit lackluster so I am so excited to come back and see what he's got going on! also love the restaurant as it has tatami rooms and the sushi bar even has a foot rest around it to put your feet on. This was some of the most of the best sushi I've had in a long time! Although I went out of my way to try it, I'm so glad that I did! When I first found Yeon on Yelp, I could just tell by the pictures of the sushi that the fish looked fresh and high quality. So I high tailed my way here in an Uber and to my surprise was able to walk in and grab a seat at the sushi bar. I was only one of four diners in the restaurant at the time to my surprise, because sushi this good I would expect to be in high demand. The sushi chef took his time preparing each order, pouring a lot of love and attention into his work. Did that create a bit of a wait time? For sure. But how can you not appreciate someone that takes pride in their craft and presentation?! My nigiri tasted as fresh and delicious as it looked and I left so incredibly satisfied. Highly, highly recommend!

My friend once had sushi take out from this palce and was really satusfied with quality abd taste of their sushi. So wedecided to go dine-in last week. We started with sake, carpaccio, and shrimp tempura for appetizers. Shrimp tempura was very crispy and tasty. This went really well with cold sake! And all the sushi pieces we ordered were very fresh and great. I was little scared to order saba if it would taste too fishy, and the chef suggested to order horse mackerel and it was a good choice. They were very nice and even asked how we liked the food. I would love to go back with my husband for our date night later.

My friends and I came back the day after because it was so good lol. The second visit was even better! We met Chef Peter who is very thoughtful and a master at his craft. He graciously made me a chirashi bowl suited to my taste (I explained that I have a limited experience with other fish after a bad experience). He's so good that my friend, who doesn't normally eat nigiri sushi without drowning it in sauce, was trying all kinds of new things. That's a huge compliment ;) Everything that he prepared for my friends and I was simply amazing. All the fish was fresh and fish to rice ratio were great! We'll be back again soon!

I wondered to myself if all of these 5 star reviews were real or some marketing ploy, but no, it's a legit 5 star place. We got a sashimi salad, which had a generous amount of sashimi to start, as well as the assorted nigiri plate ($58). We were a little crunched on time so we couldn't opt for the omakase this time around. But OMG I felt as though I stole money from the restaurant. I couldn't believe the freshness, the flavors, and the quality for the price. All of the nigiri had elevated flavor profiles which I highly enjoyed. Chef Peter was amazing too! He explained each piece and his friendliness added to the whole experience. Service was excellent. Parking can be a bit tough with a small parking lot in the front and another small lot located behind the building, but metered parking can be found on the street as well. I was told they do have valet in the evenings, but we went during lunch. The aesthetics are unassuming, which makes this a hidden gem. Hands down my new go to for nigiri in LA.

Made a reservation expecting to try omakase but I was told I didn't reserve the omakase. However the chef was fine with it and allowed us to do it! $175 per person before tax and tips. Everyone working there is so friendly and accommodating. The foods were so fresh and delicious! I loved being able to try all these different wonderful flavors. The place itself is very clean and well lit. They have some rooms for small groups to reserve. We had a wonderful time and did not leave hungry. We will definitely come back!

Wow! Absolutely amazing experience yesterday for Valentine's Day. It was our first time trying omakase and all of the food was not only delicious but beautifully presented. Upon arriving, the staff were very welcoming and attentive. We were able to get a private room which was nice! When going to eat sushi, ideally you would like the quality of fish to match the price that you will pay. I am often hesitant to try new sushi spots but because a friend of mine wanted to catch up and grab dinner, I gave it a shot. Located in a small plaza in koreatown, they do have a parking lot that gets extremely full. I was lucky enough to snag a spot and found Yeon tucked away by the collectibles and game shop. The interior was nice and fresh. They offer a variety of seating arrangements and even offer a private room area to give you a unique Japanese Omakase experience. Unfortunately I was not able to try their omakase, so we ordered some rolls, a few pieces of sushi, a chirashi bowl and an assorted sushi set to share. The plating was beautiful, the quality of rice was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The cuts of fish were like butter, and everything was very appetizing. The toro literally melted in my mouth, I wish I could afford more! Very friendly staff, wonderful service and delicious sushi. I hope to try the Omakase in the future.

This place is heaven on Earth. Even their miso soup is wonderful! The fish is spectacular -- and so fresh! Assortment of fish changes seasonally and by availability. You know it's good when you don't "need" soy sauce and a lot of wasabi. Just super delicious straight off the plate! And no sesame seeds, like other places use to cover up the taste of stale fish. Awesome!! Service is impeccable. Attentive, helpful, and all about ensuring you enjoy your experience. Comfortable and relaxing. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

My daughter and I stopped by to see if we could hold a private party and Paul welcomed us in and we had an amazing lunch. This place is hidden but it's a must eat place. The sushi was expertly prepared and it was all so good from the wagyu to the saba. Also we think the rock fish tempura is better than nobu's. Can't wait to come back for an evening

I had an amazing dining experience at yeon in los angeles. The interior of the resturaunt was unique and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a new resturaunt so it was well staffed and we never had to wait for any service. The service was excellent. It was a little difficult to find the resturaunt. It's located in a plaza but the only entrance is through a slightly hidden door toward the back. It's a hidden gem in an otherwise distressed shopping center area. The food of course was the best part of the evening. It is a premium resturaunt so my expectations were high going in. Everything was perfectly made, the presentation was excellent and of course the freshness plus quality was as high as possible. I highly recommend visiting this place if you're in LA.

My boyfriend found this lovely sushi place in KT. It's our first time there. On a Sunday evening, it was not that crowded. The manager Paul accommodated us friendly. I was craving for Uni sushi that night but unfortunately they sold out. Instead the chef gave us two free pieces of deluxe tuna sashimi as makeup. That's very thoughtful and kind. We ordered Shrimp tempura, crispy and tender. Wakyu sushi, fine quality. Cucumber salad roll and saba. Everything tastes fresh and well prepared. The only food not recommended is the Japanese karaage, not authentic at all. Better not order there. BTW, valet parking $4 just helped u park, not worth it though.

If you are looking for good quality sushi in koreatown, this will be the spot. Chef John is very knowledgeable on the products he's using and has some great tasting combinations. Chef Alex is an artist, and the staff are very friendly and thoughtful. I didn't want to make a review and make this place too popular It's a place that makes me happy , thanks guys, perfect service and food

Found this spot because my boyfriend gets a hair cut in the same shopping center and I'm so glad I found it! I believe they take reservations but we were walk ins on a Friday evening! We were instantly seated and helped, they have many options for sushi. We got the shrimp tempura roll and garlic edamame's& a cucumber salad!!The food was great, staff and ambiance is great. Definitely will be coming back!

Sooo good! The location is a bit tucked away but I'm really glad I tried it. The service was great - got to sit at the bar and have the sushi prepared as it came out. It was fun seeing how meticulous the chefs were in preparing everything. The chef that was preparing my food made sure that every little topping was up to his standards. apparently the usual wait staff was out so the owner was waiting on us. And the food? So good. I usually don't like a few sushi items (uni, unagi, etc.) but somehow it tasted really, really good. Like, this is going to be my new go-to place. Everything was presented so beautifully and tasted so good. You can really taste the quality of everything from the fish to the rice and everything in between.

Had a wonderful dinner tonight. Their Assorted Nigiri Set is higher in quality and lower in price than any other sushi places in town. The chef and server were very attentive and friendly too. I've been to most of the high-end omakase sushi places in LA, but half of them did not hit my expectations. But this place was above and beyond my expectations with the service and the price point. Will visit again soon. Thank you!

Literally the best sushi I had alllllll year!!!! The service was phenomenal, I got everything the waiter recommended. Such a hidden gem. The chef killed It!!! you could tell how passionate he is. Our waiter had blonde hair and was soo kind and informative and patient. I can't wait to come back! its 230am and I just had to leave a review before I went to sleep. Oh and its a extremely clean restaurant. Nobu who? * ask for the truffle oil nigiri, idk what fish it is or what its called but omg!! !!

This place blew me away. The kindest staff and GREATEST service and the most amazing sushi. The chefs make you feel so special, the wagyu sushi blew us away, the carpaccios, the spicy crispy tuna rice.... and really decent pricing! Nice jazz playing, very clean. GO HERE!!!!!!

Best sushi in the area. I've been here 5 times. All ingredients are fresh. Chef John was very accommodating and talented. Service is nice. It's not too busy on weekdays, sometimes busy on weekends. But I've never had to wait to get seated. They play jazz and also have private Japanese style rooms upon request. Really nice folks run this business. Please give it a try!

We had the omakase dinner here. Every dish was very tasty. The portions were small but we got about 20 plates in total so I ended up getting super full at the end. It was worth $175 a person. The service was good. I will definitely go back again!!

Discovered a great sushi bar in Ktown: Yeon Omakase and Sushi. Went there with my son for dinner last night. We both got the 10-piece "Assorted Nigiri" chef's choice special for $58: a beautiful selection of blue fin toro, halibut, yellowtail, salmon, albacore belly, amberjack, sea bream, black snapper, golden eye snapper and scallop. It was all very fresh and delicious. Then the chef gave us each negitoro and unagi nigiri on the house. We couldn't have asked for a nicer supplement to the nigiri assortment. The service was wonderful. They have a fairly extensive menu with appetizers, salads, sashimi/carpaccio, specialty rolls and desserts. They also offer a $175 omakase (15 courses) but honestly can't imagine it being three times better than their assorted nigiri (10 premium pieces plus 2 on the house for $58.) But maybe I'm wrong. I know the omakase is revered on Yelp. During lunch the specialty rolls are BOGO 50% off. Can't wait to go back with my daughter. The Alaskan Roll (salmon on CA roll) is her absolute favorite and they have it. They are in the corner of a strip mall on Wilshire & Wilton. We parked in the strip mall for free but maybe got there before valet did. Please try their delicious sushi and support them, they had no other customers the entire time we were there. It's sad to see inferior, more expensive sushi bars thrive while hidden gems like these struggle.

This review was for a dinner date that I had here on Valentine's Day - all I can say is that it was a very busy night for them where they had ~3 couples to make food for, which I noticed pressed the chefs on time and attention when it came for delivering the dishes. I'd have to sadly admit that this did impact their service quite a bit, but again this may not be the case for other days. The dishes that did come out were well prepared and fresh, with the oysters and the handmade sushi being the bulk of the best dishes I had that night. I noticed the chefs there were trying their best to prepare the food and engage in some conversation to get a vibe of what to do next, but at the same time, I had only wished to have more interaction with the chef. This was my first time at an omakase, and I will say I had a decent experience. Maybe if I go again in the future on a non-festive day, the service will probably be better. What I did like was that they had private rooms to sit in that had sliding doors for privacy as everyone inside was eating (and cubbies to place shoes in while in these sitting rooms). If I knew that was an option, I could have asked for this ahead of time! Maybe another thing to consider when it comes to making reservations is to probably provide this option for people to make a choice for, because we were not told this was something we had to call about ahead of time.

I would recommend coming during lunch because they have 1 roll next roll 50% off going on right now during lunch hours !! The ambiance of the place is very quiet and great for any occasion:) my friends and I especially loved the baked salmon and dragon roll ( dragon if ur a eel lover!) Service was great and they checked up on us frequently! Will be coming back to try different rolls!

I have never had such an amazing experience in my life. First of all big shout out to Peter, he is the epitome of human kindness at its core, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Next the food was DELICIOUS!!! Fish was soooo fresh and everything was made with love. They are a brand new restaurant and you can tell they take so much pride in making sure you have a wonderful eating experience. The restaurant itself was cute, small, but definitely a starter place but all the makings of a great spot! They even have multiple private seating areas that you can bring coworkers, or do private events in. The location is a bit in the cut but TOTALLY WORTH IT! Thank you for such a wonderful time. I can't wait to come back

First time here and the food was absolutely delicious! The staff were all very nice and attentive. By the way everything tasted and the vibes we were surprised it was empty. John, behind the counter, was extremely friendly! Not to mention they play the early 2000's hits, that alone will have me coming back haha.
