Once upon a time, my boiz Raj P. and Gage made a mixed tape, and self titled themselves Rage. They rocked hard, got into a guitar battle with a minor demon, and then they invited me out to dinner. I said yes, and there we were.
First and foremost, this is city center, good luck on the parking friends. Nobody likes it. The facility itself is very clean, and industrial modern looking. Quite cozy. The staff are so attentive, and friendly. They were bomb. They brought about the 4th star all on their own.
Started with a cocktail, very good. I don't remember what it's called, but it had BKK in the title.
Appetizers
Sai Ua, Chiang mai spicy chicken, shrimp, crabmeat sausage w/ aromatic chili-herb & lemongrass. The flavors were excellent, and cooked enough to remain moist. A little pricey for so little on the plate. Quantity for flavor will be a common theme amongst the smaller plates.
Khai Hong, curry potato croquette w/ cabbage nest, & cucumber relish. Another tasty dish, with 4 wee lil balls on the plate. Well garnished. Crispy on the outside, tasty on the inside.
Khai Luk Koei, son in law eggs. Good, but not great. I know this isn't a traditional idea, but they'd be bomb soft-boiled.
Yi Peng Fruit Salad, seasonal fruit medley w/ Asian slaw, cashew, crispy tofu, mint-tangy dressing. My buddy got this, I had a taste. It's good.
Tom Kha Gai, traditional coconut chicken galangal soup w/ kaffir lime & enoki mushroom. This had a nice refreshing to taste with the lime. A light starter.
Entrees
Pad Ped Pla-Dook, wok stir-fried prik-khing curry catfish filet w/ long bean, eggplant, kaffir lime, peppercorn, fingerroot. This was a solid dish. Flavorful, an okay portion, could've had more.
Pad Kee Mao, spicy wok phat noodle w/ chili-basil, tomato, bell pepper, egg with beef. This was probably my favorite of the entrees. Flavorful, spicy and portioned well.
Khai Soi Gai, northern style coconut curry w/ egg noodle, stew chicken & pickled veggie. This looked beautiful, but I wasn't so impressed. Good spice, but missing a bigger flavor.
Khai Jeaw Boran, traditional thai omelet, shallots, kaffir lime leaf, sriracha sauce. My buddy went this route. That was a one timer for me.
Dessert
Ka-Nhom Pang Sung Ks-Yha, toasted milky bread w/ pandan custard fondue. My buddy got it. The bread was good, the custard was a bit bland for me but kind of expected. If you like that kind of flavor, you'll enjoy it.
Overall, a very nice place. A bit over priced for what we got, in my own opinion. But not bad. I let my companions take the wheel on ordering. So you may have a different experience of you're ordering what fits your craving. I'm not sure if they have a happy hour but if they do, that's the ticket. The staff rocks, we had excellent service. A + for that.
