Where to Get Great Chinese Food in Montreal

"This Guangzhou-based chain specializes in two different types of Chinese comfort food: Congee (rice soup) and chang fen (rice flour rolls). The combinations are endless, with options for meat, seafood, offal, or veggie fillings, with or without youtiao (deep-fried crunchy crullers). While the dim sum dishes are off the menu for now, check out their crispy fish skin served with chicken soup on the side for dipping, or the brisket with daikon." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

16 Montreal Restaurants for Delicious, Affordable Eats

"Longstanding Guangzhou restaurant chain Yin Ji Chang Fen was an instant hit with Montreal’s downtown crowd after opening in March 2021. Located on Ste-Catherine, near Concordia, the restaurant keeps a long menu of congee options and dim sum dishes, but its main attraction is its cheung fun, paper-thin Cantonese rice noodle rolls filled with shrimp, pork, beef, and more coming in at around $5." - Eater Staff

The Best Restaurants in Montreal’s Shaughnessy Village - Eater Montreal

"Thin rice noodle rolls are at the heart of Chinese chain Yin Ji Chang Fen’s menu, but don’t stop there: the menu includes dim sum specialties and fifteen varieties of generously portioned congee, including C9, a classic shredded pork and preserved egg option. Get the S3 youtiao (dough sticks) to dip into your soup for pure comfort-in-a-bowl." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

Delicious dim sum, fairly priced, quick service. Love that you order from phone 📱. They got loyalty card also to give you free dim sum dish after 10 stamps. It was our fist time today. I am thinking coming back tomorrow 😅 my new favourite dim sum place now ❤️

If you come before 11am, prices are cheaper. The combos are 9.95$ for a congee, side and drink. The rice noodles were delicious and the congee was solid. Really enjoyed the shrimp rice roll and beef truffle one. Will come again for their early specials.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, cozy and comfortable, not too busy, and impeccable service. Ordered a braised beef noodle soup, the beef was spot on. Not too fat, not overcooked, tender and easy to mince. Definitely try it with the homemade chili oil. The oil ingredients are very generous, making it very savory without losing that extra punch. One side of rice noodle with beef, shrimps and chive, the paste was slightly overcooked, losing it's smooth and silky texture. For drink, a hk style coffee milk tea; not as silky as it should be, but the flavor is there. Overall, very good experience and enjoyed very much the dinner. Keep up the great work.

First time and won’t be the last. The pictures do not justify and authentic and freshness of the foods served. We love a good dimsum and esp cheongfuns but this is AMAZING! Come here for the great selection! Even the desserts were on point and also the drinks!! Who needs Chinatown when you can enjoy Hong Kong food this side of the river!

Definitely the best congee in town! I ordered the combo for 1 person: Laiwan assorted congee, beef with chives rice noodle roll and a glass of Hong Kong style iced milk tea. I was very hangry after being stuck in traffic on the Champlain Bridge during the Friday rush hour. I decided to give this place a try for the first time and oh boy, it ain’t gonna be the last time that I will be coming here for some comforting food 😋 Even the shrimp rolls that I ordered for take out were equally amazing!

What a foodie find ! Lots of unique Chinese dishes, inspired by the Hong Kong Food scene Spacious, bright, and clean dining room, with great service and of course, delicious food - Hong Kong style milk tea, with peekaboo bear - Tender & delicious braised beef brisket, served on top of their famous steamed rice rolls - Fried dough sticks wrapped in their thin rice noodle rolls, sliced and served with a luscious peanut dipping sauce - Sliced fish rice congee, a thin rice porridge seasoned with huge chunks of fish, topped with green onions - Traditional way of dunking the fried dough chunks into congee - Roasted duck rice roll & chives (what had not been devoured), used as a topping for the fried dough chunks - Creamy Custard steamed baos, shockingly delicious

Great place and very accommodating staff who speak very good English too. The food had the same quality as the ones from Toronto.

Very friendly and thoughtful staff; the food was amazing! Everything came super quickly and did not have to wait long. Their chili oil is homemade, and the Hong Kong style Beef Brisket is a must try dish!
