37 Top Chinese Restaurants Open in NYC Right Now

"Rice noodle rolls have been a Chinatown staple for decades, but then along came this international chain with outposts in Singapore, Toronto, and Los Angeles — in addition to roughly 45 separate locations back in Guangzhou. Like the New York City’s most heralded rice noodle spots, it milks its own rice and makes each order individually by hand, resulting in a preternaturally soft form of cheung fun. Call to order: (212) 227-4888 or (212) 227-7288." - Robert Sietsema, Eater Staff

Yin Ji Chang Fen - Review - Chinatown - New York - The Infatuation

"Many of the best places to grab cheong fun in Chinatown are street carts or takeout specialists—spots like Yi Ji Shi Mo and Sun Hing Lung. But if you want to sit in a bright room, place your order with a server, and supplement your cheong fun with a big bowl of congee, try the Bayard Street location of Guangzhou-based chain Yin Ji Chang Fen. The rice rolls here are thick and sticky, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that works especially well with a heavy drizzle of peanut sauce. Choose from over 15 fillings like shrimp and pork liver, and always get a side of the curry fish balls that are a little sweet, a little spicy." - Bryan Kim

Really authentic and tasty — every dish was delicious! Highly recommend the rice rolls and congee. The service was a bit lacking, but it didn’t spoil the experience. Just a heads up, they only accept cash.

Google
The food is goood! They give generous portion. We ordered the curry fish ball, deep fried fish skin, shrimp chang fen, hk peanut toast (take away) and hk milk tea. Realllyyy love the curryyy sauce and the hk milk tea. The curry is strong and a little bit spicy, and the milk tea is so smooth and not sweet at all which is good! Gotta come back

Usually, when I come to eat here, there is a line waiting to get in. I got a table for me and my family and enjoyed the freshly made rice noodle crepes, fish congee, beef brisket, soy sauce fried noodles and drinks (hot horlick and pineapple freeze). Delicious and classic Chinese comfort food on a Sunday morning 😋.

Google
Very good service. The food came quickly and was also very good. $30 including tip. We ordered the pork and chives roll, roll with peanut sauce, and congee with preserved egg and pork . A hearty meal for two.

The most satisfying brunch I’ve had in Manhattan! Highly recommend the signature seafood congee—it’s amazing! The fish balls and rice rolls were super delicious too. Overall, I absolutely loved it😋😋😋

Google
Delicious rice rolls! We tried the shrimp and chive and the pork chive. Both were delicious. Note that if you order hot tea here, it’s milk tea.

Google
GREAT DUMPLINGS! Food was delicious. Cash only. 4 dishes including tea was about $35 before tip. Is packed with people all the time. Modern atmosphere. Is a must for NYC visitors.

Match the quality of the restaurants in Guangzhou where the original restaurant from. Fun is smooth, beef tastes great and liver is tender. Service is great. Price is very reasonable.

Yelp
Food: A reliable spot for a comforting brunch! The congee and rice rolls were delicious, especially when paired with a warm cup of soy milk. It's the perfect way to start the day. Cost: The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food. Environment: The interior is pretty basic, but it's clean and functional. It's a good place for a quick bite. Service: The service is efficient and quick. The food comes out promptly, which is great for a busy morning. Uniqueness: It's a solid choice if you're craving some congee and rice rolls. Their coffee is also pretty delicious -- would recommend the rice rolls with the chinese donut inside! That and the shrimp is my two favorite (and don't forget to add the preserved egg into that congee for an umami kick)!

Yelp
We didn't see any dim sum on menu, nor during lunch-time. Restaurant is known for rice noodle rolls and congee; that's what most patrons were eating. Located in Chinatown. We ordered rice noodles rolls w: peanut sauce; pork; and shrimp. Plus fried chix wing, sticky rice wrap, and chix conger. The sticky rice wrap was our fave, although shrimp, and pork rice rolls were very good too. CASH ONLY, as they have posted and reminded us several times. For us, nice off the beaten path lunch

Yelp
*CASH ONLY* I originally wanted to go to Tonii's but we decided to come here instead since there was seating inside and assumed it would be good since they were busy with a line outside. We waited about 15 mins to get seated. Every table was filled! Food was ok, nothing stood out. We ordered two items. The beef rice rolls and curry combo. Curry combo came out first. The rice rolls took about 20 mins later to come out. We thought they forgot about it so I had to ask if it was still coming and they said they were still working on it.... Overall, not worth the wait.

Yelp
The food here is so good! Every single thing on the menu I have tried so far is always so solid, delicious and well made. They have such soft and flavorful rice rolls. The rice rolls have a really delicate texture and has the perfect amount of rice roll and filling ratio. I really love the congee too. It is so heartwarming and you really feel like you ate at your grandma's house after your meal. I love their drinks too! They are so well made and simple. The service here is quick and friendly. This is a must when you are in NYC.

Yelp
Stopped here and it wasn't too busy on a rainy day at the open; lots of to-go and delivery orders waiting. Inside is a clean, spacious spot with a clean bathroom, and one counter as you enter to order; another in the back I'm not sure what they use for but it's mostly storing menus now. The tables are small but come with soy sauce and chopsticks. The chang fen (rice noodle sheets) are soft and delicious; the fried cruller didn't hold up well (too dry even with the steaming and not a great quality of fried dough). The shrimp + beef was good, had a giant sheet of the rice noodle on it, and was hard to break apart. Would do well with a knife, but was clean shrimp and while the beef was just so-so, the sweet soy sauce was just enough. The milk tea- very strong, word to the wise. Cash only. Keep that in mind, too!

Yelp
Being a big steam rice roll fan living in New York, had passed Yin Ji Chang Fen before a trip to Montreal after just having learned that this chain also had a location. This is their U.S. "flagship," which is only 1/2 block from Tonii's Fresh Rice Noodles, one of my favorite Chinatown cheap eats. Yin Ji Chang Fen's chains origin is in Guangzhou in 1958... and that location still exists! There were some differences between this NYC location and the Montreal Yin JI's as well as the next door Tonii's. First, this Bayard St. location is not only cash only (vs. the Montreal one which takes credit,) the prices were significantly higher both in absolute "dollars" and the fact that Canadian dollars are presently less than $0.75 now! Also, the Montreal location serves you complementary hot tea, while the Baxter St. Yin Ji doesn't. As well, when I asked for water, they brought me over a super tiny paper cup the size of a shot glass. The printed menu here had a great illustration of how they make rice rolls. (See pic.) I was interested in the Beef and Shrimp with Chives Rice Roll and asked the waiter about getting peanut sauce for it. Like the Montreal location, it was extra - $1.50 vs C$1. Tonii's always provide delicious hoy sin and peanut sauce with your rice rolls, which I have enjoyed on top. The waiter said the rice rolls come with soy and wouldn't recommend the peanut sauce. He did point out they have an unfilled rice roll with the peanut sauce, but I wanted some protein so I kept with just the Beef and Shrimp as it comes. Tonii's which is significantly cheaper, which does takes cards but if I remember correctly also gives a cash discount, does not have seating other than a single bench. It's really only take out. My Beef and Shrimp with Chives Rice Roll appeared to also have some ginger, which provided extra flavor. It was tasty. That being said, I prefer Tonii's which are more vibrant with its sauces! (Also, nearby West Rice Roll King and around town Joe's Steamed Rice Rolls are great too!) To add, Curry Fish Balls and Congee appears to other Yan Ji specialties, however they're not something I typically order. If you'd like those dishes and are in the neighborhood wanting to enjoy them sitting at a table, then Yin Ji is worth a try. Just remember it's cash only.

Yelp
I think this place originated in Toronto and now they're here in New York! Really exciting. I've always wanted to try rice rolls and now I'm finally getting the chance. We came here on our third stop for our Chinatown food crawl and I'm so glad that we came. Be aware that it is CASH ONLY. The food was interesting, I'm a big fan of the flavor, but the texture of the rice roll was not it for me. I definitely prefer a more firm cook, and I just think it was a little too gelatinous for me! I got the shrimp and scallion roll and my cousin got shrimp with ginger. Great staff and we had a really nice experience

Yelp
Vermicelli with lots of flavorful and smooth ingredients I was shocked by the amount of liver in the congee, it was a big bowl full. Frozen mandarin ducks are so-so 91 Bayard St, New York, NY 10013

Yelp
We came all the way to Chinatown because I had to pick up my new glasses and my brother saw this restaurant. Atmosphere: The restaurant has a good atmosphere, and they did not make us feel unwelcome. When we walked in, they sat us at our table immediately and were friendly. Staff members: The staff here are friendly and patient. They were very helpful with taking our order. They made us feel welcomed here and smiled and thanked us as well. Roast pork with chives rice roll: This actually tasted better than I had expected. This dish had flavor, and the roast pork and rice roll were cooked to perfection. Slice pork & preserved egg congee: The sliced pork was cooked to perfection. The preserved egg tasted delicious and made me want more. The congee was all right but could have been better. The congee needs more rice and a little less water, and this was too watery for congee. Overall: My brother and I would probably come back here again to try out the other dishes and rice rolls. If they improve on their congee then we may give those dishes another try as well.

Yelp
I enjoy Chinese food as does my very good friend, so we did a Chinatown crawl while I was visiting. We stopped at this location to catch up and sit down for dinner after sampling other spots. We love our changfen, and opted to get the cha leung and the pork trotter changfen (thankful for my fellow adventurous eaters). We wanted the special peanut sauce which did cost extra but was worth it. I heard some hot gossip and also enjoyed the sound of Cantonese in the background. We ended up staying until closing time, which we didn't realize, but the waitstaff thankfully were gracious enough to let us stay until we realized.

Yelp
Yummy cheung fun (rice rolls) with more classic restaurant style seating (as compared to Tonii's next door or other cheung fun places). The rice rolls themselves are yummy- nice and chewy, and come pre-sauced. There are a lot of different toppings, so honestly you can't go wrong with getting what sounds good! The Man Tou (crispy fried buns) are also a yummy dessert with a side of condensed milk for after your rice rolls. Cash only! Service is fast.

Yelp
this place most items of rice flour rolls. Many type of rice rolls to choose from. and they make it fresh to order for $ 7.95. Service is fast.

Yelp
As part of a surprise food tour I planned for my fiancé, starting in Chinatown and ending in Little Italy, our first stop was Yin Ji Chang Fen Rice Roll. Here, we tried the Steamed Pork Dumplings, and they were unforgettable. This spot ended up being my fiancé's favorite of the entire tour, she's a dumpling lover and orders them anytime they're on a menu. Both of us agreed these were the best dumplings we've ever had. The meat to dough ratio was spot on, with plenty of filling in every bite, unlike other places that skimp on the filling. A heads up,this place is cash only. We found out when we came back after the tour to buy more dumplings, only to realize we weren't prepared. Regardless, this is a must visit, and we'll definitely be back with cash in hand! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Inside was so cute!! Their walls are painted w cute comics and I loved the pictures on their menus as well! They teach u how to make a rice roll XD. Service was great too! Super friendly and kind staff. All the food here was DELICIOUS too! They actually had AUTHENTIC rice rolls!!! My Chinese parents really appreciated that. The rice rolls were super thin and the sauce was mouth watering. Definitely ask for lots of extra extra sauce!! The congee was super yummy too and came out piping hot! Perfectly light but so flavorful at the same time. It was amazing. Definitely coming back here!

Yelp
Life is short. F....it up! Family, Flavor, Friends Was an NYC this weekend went to Chinatown and was looking for a place for breakfast. I I knew that Chang fen was a trendy type of food that was spreading across the north east and we happen to be right across the street so we decided to try it. Place very trendy place representing a traditional Hong Kong eatery for breakfast cash only so don't forget so we got a bunch of different rice rolls . We have a beef and chive traditional shrimp, a chicken mushroom and a peanut sauce one. All came out super fresh and fast piping hot. So what make the rice rolls really good number one freshness number two texture of the rice roll number three quality ingredients number four perfectly balanced soy sauce. But the highlight was for me the peanut sauce rice roll. I thought this is probably one of the best I've ever had super nutty. Taste like peanut butter melted most sauces or water down. This was nuts and had a sweet hoisin sauce mixed in with perfect balance. Top it off with Sesame seeds and you're done.
google avatar

Helen C.

Yelp
The skin of the shrimp and beef rolls were so soft and tender and the sauce had a perfect balance of sweet and savory. Highly recommend the beef roll. The beef melted in your mouth and the lettuce inside gave it a nice texture contrast. They accept cash only so remember to bring plenty.

Yelp
*** if youre eating in its CASH ONLY *** they are also on seamless if you want to order delivery though. stopped by for eat in and most of the staff is chinese speaking only but understands english of course their rice noodle and congee is their staple, which hits the spot all the time. great meal especially in the winter time. they added new menu items like pig trotters, would come back to try that soon.
google avatar

Melody M.

Yelp
Got a congee on a hot day. So cheap but such a big portion. They're CASH ONLY so please be aware when you order. The service was super quick and I saw them clean the tables well after each person, so, you know it's a good quality spot. I went on a weekday, so no lines which was perfect because weekends they often have a line out the door.

Yelp
For a fast casual rice roll restaurant, this place is delicious! If you are coming for the lunchtime rush, expect around a 20 minute wait in the line outside. Someone from the restaurant will bring you in as tables become available. The rice rolls are a must; gelatinous, gooey deliciousness, and highly recommend some classic beef and shrimp rolls, the fried dough roll, and the truffle roll, especially if you are a fan of a strong mushroom flavor. Other than the rice roll, don't forget ro check out their congee! We ordered a C5, along with the light and delicate flavor of the congee, it was packed with assorted seafood, including fish fillets and chopped squid. To wash it all down, hong kong tea is a classic, but nothing much to write home about. Overall, this place has fast service and decent food, definitely fulfilling any rice roll or congee cravings you might have. Note that the hong kong milktea does not come with any ice, so may warm up quickly in the warm weather if you don't finish it in the restaurant, and if you ask for water, it is only served in a tiny paper cup. There is also only 1 restroom to be shared so there might be a bit of a wait for that. For a chinatown restaurant, it offers decent seating option and air conditioning, which is great!

Yelp
Amazing place! Highly recommend anyone who loves rice rolls come here. Great customer services. Came on a Saturday for an early dinner, got lucky didn't need to wait to be seated! Got both the shrimp and beef roll and the beef roll. Both tested amazing! Lots of fillings, large portion size. Definitely worth the money! Place is fairly clean, the aunties and uncles are so quick at cleaning the tables! Definitely will come back again for a quick and cheap eat

Yelp
We stopped by recently as this was one of the more hyped chang fen spots in Chinatown. Was pleasantly surprised by the interior; super clean, friendly service, and overall a great atmosphere. We started with the condensed milk toast, and honestly was blown away by this. I don't know if this restaurant makes it particularly well, or if it's just the dish itself since it was my first time trying it, but the soft toast with the sweet and surprisingly quite savory condensed milk made for a wonderful combo. I do wish the toast was a bit more buttered up, but overall this was amazing. We also got the beef and shrimp chang fen. First impression was that it was one long clump of chang fen, rather than being cut-up/in strips. This made it hard to eat, and the filling also wasn't flavored very well. The sauce wasn't as salty as other places I've been to, meaning that overall, the dish was a bit bland.
google avatar

Steven W.

Yelp
Cash only, located in Chinatown and had to try the rice noodle. I enjoy the Hong Kong Style cafe and we ordered the beef rice noodle and beef congee which I thought was relatively cheap for a large bowl of congee at $7.50. Rice noodle was delicious, good flavored and made fresh to order.
google avatar

Yelp
BEST RICE ROLLS and HK MILK TEA that reminds you of home! This place also has insanely great prices compared to the portion size. Cash only!
google avatar

Danielle A.

Yelp
This place is SO GOOD! It's cash only but worth it. If you have Bank of America, there is a location right near the canal street subway stop and it's a 5 minute walk away from this place! Highly recommend the youtiao and egg roll with the curry fish balls! The HK milk tea is so comforting this time of year as well!
google avatar

Sophia N.

Yelp
I came here a little after 12 pm and my friend and I were able to be seated right away. When we looked at the door shortly after 12:30 pm, there was a line going out the door. So come early to avoid lines! The food was great. The congee was so warm and hearty and I felt my soul recharging on a cold winter day. My friend and I also got the beef and chive rice roll and the fish rice roll (not pictured). Both rice rolls were so good. The rice roll is really thin and smooth. It's also packed with filling. 2 rice rolls and the congee was more than enough for 2 people, and the prices are really reasonable. I look forward to going back and trying some other rice flavors!

Yelp
Staying in New York City for a couple days I was noticing they do love their rice rolls having restaurants that specializes in it. This was in Chinatown, Yin Ji Chang Fen, so good.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
(Overall: B) - As rice rolls are one of my childhood favorite dishes, I've been back to Yin Ji many more times since last year. Their food here is truly authentic and tastes as good as it did back in Guangzhou. Adding romaine and yellow chive in a beef rice roll adds some nice freshness to the dish; the chinese donut provides interesting texture to the soft rice roll as well. Even their drinks like the hot lemon tea is authentic to the flavors from Hong Kong. They have many ingredient pairings for various traditional cantonese breakfast and open to late dinner time which is excellent. My only complaint about this place is not the fact that its cash only, but that the servers consistently have some type of either implicit or explicit negative attitude that just makes your day a little worse, a fact that makes me sad as I would love to be much more of a supporter of this establishment. -- Food: +1 Presentation: E Price: E Atmosphere: E Service: -1 Menu: +2 Overall: +2 = B IG: @amei.eats

Yelp
Food (3/5): We ordered the shrimp and beef rice roll with chives while my friends got pork sliced congee and hot soy milk. The shrimp and beef rice roll with chives was decent but could've used better sauce. There was a good amount of meat. My friends said their congee and soy milk were decent. I've seen other rice roll places run at lower prices and taste better. Service (3/5): Not exceptionally friendly but they seated us quickly with no issues. They also took our order well. The food came out reasonably fast. They didn't get water for us and it seemed self serve but when we got it, they said it wasn't self-serve. Afterwards they got the water for us. Also be aware that this place is cash only. Ambiance (3/5): The place looks well lit and nice but walking in there is a weird urine smell. Not sure if it's a fishy smell from the shrimp, fish or others. Overall it looked like a nice modern restaurant but the smell was very odd. The staff also seemed to be communicating quite loudly and you can hear noises from the kitchen.

Sravya V.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by for a warm and simple dinner on a brisk night. It was warm and lively inside, and there was space for us to sit right away! The service was attentive and quick. We tried the pork and shrimp as well as the chicken with mushroom rice rolls. The food came out fast, and it was tasty! The rice roll had a nice smooth texture, and meat was well cooked. It seems like the food is meant to be be pretty simple and unseasoned, so we relied heavily on the sriracha and the soy sauce. Of note - peanut sauce is not included, and costs extra. We didn't realize this until it was too late! Overall, great sit-down spot for some rice rolls!
google avatar

Albert K.

Yelp
New menu. Lots of new pictures and dishes here! Clean venue and really good rice rolls overall. Got the rice noodles and pork and shrimp rice rolls this time. They deliver the food quickly and very reasonably priced for Chinatown.
google avatar

Gabby G.

Yelp
Great for on the go & budget friendly! I first came here on a take out mission. They are cash only so be prepared. You can customize the rice rolls to your liking but you may need to ask for some sauces. They didn't include many options compared to other rice roll vendors.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Casual with fun decor but I don't get it. In my opinion, the rice rolls at Yin Ji Chang Fen are not at all like the silky smooth ones I'm enthralled with at Joe's Steamed Rice Rolls in Flushing. The curry combo was tasty, something different, espcially the pig skin which I mistook for perfectly cooked and not rubbery squid!
google avatar

Sen D.

Yelp
This place serves food even better than some in its original city Guangzhou. They are fresh materials carefully prepared. And the wait staff are outstanding.
google avatar

Helen C.

Yelp
I understand the need for speedy service but if we're not ready to order then so be it; we will hail you back to place the order when we have decided. The middle aged waiter came to our table without being prompted, and he was eyeing around the restaurant while asking what we'd like to have. I told him we needed more time, he left, only to return without being needed and again was asking impatiently what we wanted but he was clearly spacing out. Later on, I heard the same waiter hack his throat near us, getting his phlegm up, and went around to the beverage station area to SPIT OUT into wherever he went in the corner. Now, I don't care if it's the trash can or the sink he "hawk tuah" into, the act itself was absolutely disgusting. I will not return.

Yelp
Great spot for a light lunch! My boyfriend and I easily got a table at noon on a Sunday and tried: + Hong Kong milk tea (cold) - great + Sliced pork and preserve egg congee - great + Beef and shrimp with chives rice roll - you can definitely get a better rice roll elsewhere, but the beef was super tasty + HK style curry fish balls - great Overall, a good choice if you need a quick sitdown place in the area.
google avatar

Simon C.

Yelp
Authentic HK style breakfast consists of congee and rice rolls. Generous portions of shrimp and pork slices in the rice roll and pork kidney in the congee. The only wish is that the congee could be a little thicker.
google avatar

Tony F.

Yelp
Authentic Cantonese breakfast store with good selection of porridges and their specialty hand crafted rice rolls. The prices were all very reasonable. The service was friendly and helpful with spacious seating. Tips: if you are an egg lover, get an egg with the rice roll if your choice. It is like a light omelette with the rice roll wrapped within a thin layer of egg. Very unique. Tips: with porridge, get a fried dough stick in the appetizer section. It's great in the porridge (congee), dipped into porridge, or just eat by itself. I dipped using the sauce from the rice roll and loved it. The waitress recommended Cantonese milk tea, we ordered with condensed milk and half sweet, it was excellent.
google avatar

Ying G.

Yelp
OMG! The best rice rolls ever! Generous portions of thin, delicate rice noodles, fully stuffed with savory cuts of chicken, beef, whole shrimp and veggies. Hong Kong sweet Mulk Tea....so delicious! Very reasonably priced...one of my new go to's in Chinatown!

Yelp
we were excited to try this place as we have seen pictures from other places of the same chain. the place itself was small. not a bad place for bfast as they are open early. the Chang fun's are ok, nothing breathtaking. we wish we have the option to fry the peanut one a little as its literally rice rolls and then with peanut sauce on the side. the bbq pork noodles were blah as it seemed like it was one whole piece rolled up together. it was a weird combination that they added lettuce to it, maybe add a little crunch? glad we tried it once. they take cash only.
google avatar

Melanie W.

Yelp
Good portion for the price and texture for the rice roll and for the congee, not watery and not too thick, just right.

Yelp
This is our second time in this place but this time, we had a take out. The rice rolls are amazing and the curry seafood is really good. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Recently got Yin Ji Chang Fen in flushing. This place is very brightly decorated with modern furniture and decor. It's not a huge restaurant but there is a decent amount of seating. We got seated right away and were able to place our order pretty quickly. We got one of their congee dishes, the curry appetizer, their shrimp rice roll as well as their stir fried noodles. I also got a drink that was basically red bean slushee. The red bean slushee was very refreshing and sweet but not too sweet. I really liked the curry appetizer as well and it went well with the noodles. The noodles were dry noodles so dipping it in the curry sauce was the perfect combination. For the curry appetizer I just wished that the appetizer had more fish balls and less of the tripe type protein. The congee came is such a big portion and was so comforting - definitely a great bang for buck. As for the rice roll, this was the star of the show. The texture of the rice rolls were great and the shrimp was plump and delicious. Overall they had a lot of good food and I will definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend for a light meal and this place didn't disappoint! For drink, I got the Hong Kong style milk tea and he got the Hong Kong style coffee and tea. For food, we got the dough stick rice noodle roll and curry combo to share. The curry combo is supposed to be fishball, squid, and pig skin and since we both don't really eat pig skin, I just asked for the fishball and squid. I was raised in Hong Kong and I would say both the drinks and food here tasted very authentic! The flavor of the curry was exactly what I was craving for and the dough stick rice noodle roll tasted very fresh! The fried dough was still crispy and I like the soy sauce that they used! I believe they cooked it with additional seasonings to infuse more flavors into the soy sauce. The milk tea tasted just like the one that I had in Hong Kong! Very smooth and not too sweet. They also didn't put any ice in it so that it doesn't get diluted by the ice. I just wish the drink would be a littler colder. Total of this meal came out to be around $35 including tips. A little more expensive than other small shops in Chinatown but it was worth it! Just as a reminder, this place is CASH ONLY! Will definitely come back in the future!

Finally got around to dining in here when the wait was too long down the street at KST. Got to try a bit more from their menu (compared to when I got takeout 3 yrs ago) and I was probably a biiit more impressed this time, but have to say their namesake rice rolls were still disappointing for the most part. We got the bbq pork w/ chives ($7.95) again, as well as the sliced fish ($7.95) and the rice noodle was just too delicate/soft. It was impossible to pick up and all the ingredients just fell apart when eating. You can definitely find better quality rolls elsewhere in Chinatown! But onto the good: HK style milk tea ($5.25), curry fish balls ($7.50), sticky rice wrap ($4.95) and the *peanut sauce* rice noodle rolls ($7.95). Because the peanut sauce ones don't have a filling, the rice noodle has the perfect texture and doesn't fall apart. The fish balls are so fresh and bouncy - excellent quality & flavor! We wanted to try the congee, but it was too hot of a day. Maybe another time.

Yelp
Great food and quick service. I went to the Toronto location originally and was glad to find this place in NYC. The congee was delicious as well as the rice rolls and appetizers. The HK milk tea was the icing on the cake. Ambiance was cool and hip but casual. We didn't have to wait for a table and the servers were quick to come take your order when needed and bought the food out not too long after. This is definitely a solid go-to spot for me to get congee on a go-forward basis. Please note that this place is cash only so be aware of that when you go.

Yelp
My family and I stumbled into Yin Ji Chang Fen during a family trip to NYC earlier this year. We were cold and wet and the warm bustling atmosphere of this restaurant compelled us to take a chance. The food was absolutely sublime. We had the fish porridge, so many plates of shrimp cheung fun, and a plate of the rice noodles with peanut butter and hoisin sauce. Service was quick and friendly - the lady who waited on us was very sweet and patient. I haven't stopped thinking about the cheung fun here since our visit. And I haven't been able to enjoy cheung fun at other restaurants either lol. Please open a location in LA!!!

Yelp
Surprisingly this restaurant has a well-deserved reputation. They have the best rice rolls in China town. The servers made sure every table was sanitized and the staffs were attentive and polite. Their rice rolls were silky soft with a slightly sweet and nutty flavor. The well blended sweet and salty soy sauce made the rice rolls hard to resist. Many people came in just to order their rice rolls and there were a wide selections of meat to choose from. It was also a good place to come in for a big bowl of steaming hot porridge/congee in a cold day. Since they are famous for their liver dishes, I did ordered a Sliced Pork, Liver & Kidney Congee. The pork's were tender while both livers and kidney had a creamy and smooth texture. Each spoonful of the congee had a slight taste of ginger flavor. I had a really good cup of Hong Kong Milk Tea. Never expected I would find a good Hong Kong Milk Tea in a restaurant that mainly serves rice rolls and congee. It was a good surprise and for people who don't like congee, they have other food items like toast, curry fish balls and chicken wings for you to choose. I believe this is a must-try restaurant if you happen to visit China Town. Just expect a line of people waiting to get in if you come on a weekend or holiday. The restaurant was clean with comfortable seating which is kind of hard to find in China town. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
It was okay, I'll try something different the next time. I had higher expectations but I'll will try again. I had beef and shrimp, beef was undercooked, shrimp was fresh and nice.

Yelp
Recently I ordered congee to go. I left the restaurant and forgot about the order. In the evening I called and said I will either pick it up the next day or the day after. When I went to pick it up two days later, I was given a fresh container of congee which I appreciate very much. BTW their congee and Chang fen are the best. The lady cashier is very nice. I always go there when I am in NYC.
