Atmosphere is nothing short spectacular and that's from a long time Kowloon customer and Polynesian restaurant seeker. Displays are over the top and surrounding you on all sides accompanied by lounge music. I can't believe this place still exists. Please go visit it before it inevitably gets updated and loses it's charm. The food was great with some unique flourishes we hadn't seen before and relatively inexpensive. Service was friendly and attentive. We'll be back again with friends to show them the vintage gem we found. If you're heading to the vintage emporium or warehouse you should definitely have a stop here.

Food is excellent and always beautifully plated. Service is excellent! We love to eat there ☺️ The Pistachio Martini is my drink AND dessert in one 🍸 True, the building itself could use a little TLC, but I’ve NEVER been disappointed!

I’ve been coming here for decades as it is the perfect half way point for our road trips. I think it was 10 years since I’ve come and I’m happy to say they still have the same great ambiance and atmosphere. The vegetable tempura is still as great as I remember. The shrimp tempura was disappointing overcooked for our tastes (a little rubbery). I wish we came from Tuesday to Friday as that is when they have lunch specials from 11:30 to about 3:30pm. They were kind enough to still serve Udon to the kid in our family. That was delicious and we couldn’t finish it but was able to box it up. The food is pricer than I remember but that’s inflation and they haven’t skimped on quality of ingredients. I would definitely suggest as a nice date night place if you’re willing to drop some dough.

Service was exceptional. They had a lot of staff there when we stoped by. The place is big. Loads of room loads of tables. Very cute..The environment was great. The food was so bad. It was too salty and too sweet. It was bad Chinese take out, serverd to you at an upscaled price. I mean they did have white cloth napkins. I got longetive noodles and it was a salty, sweet lo mein, for 28$! It was a small portion too. The thai coconut mussels were mussels in a japaneses style golden curry, no coconut flavors, it was fine but not what I was expecting. I hate giving places two starts but it was so bad. Also got that whole restraunt there was one stall one toilet for the women. And it didn't even flush.

My second visit and this place does not disappoint, the eccentric decor is going to make you smile and just bring up a random memory. The staff is very attentive and professional. We were celebrating my daughter’s college graduation . Everything was delicious.

I came here a couple of weeks ago with a friend of mine and I really enjoyed it. The place was definitely authentic and the food was amazing. Our server, Sergio, was pleasant, kind, and by all means very accommodating to my friend and I. He made sure that we had a great experience. I would highly recommend coming here if you’ve never been, it’s really a hidden gem and one of a kind, and has been in business for many years as I’m told. There’s certainly a reason for that!

Yobo by far is one of our favorite local restaurants! We come here often as they are one of the few area restaurants to have a specific vegan menu and I am vegan but not everyone in my group is. Many of the options on the regular menu are also vegan! We often dine with vegan & non-vegan friends and family and everyone is always very happy! The food is always fresh and delicious! Service = terrific. And we love the slightly upscale but comfortable atmosphere. It is a win-win!

Hotel staff recommended Yobo and am glad I took them up on it. Nice little restaurant tucked away on the main drag. Went with a coworker who said he has dabbled in sushi. When asked, I told him I would prefer my fish cooked. He told me I was missing out and ordered some. I tried I and not too bad, but not something I would order for myself. Good selection on the menu, and I will have to make another trip to try some of them. Sesame seed chicken and the sirlion with vegetables for this visit. Good atmosphere in the restaurant and staff was super friendly. The main dishes were outstanding. Tried the chopsticks but had to use a fork to eat. I know. a rookie all the way. Checked the box and recommend it to anyone looking for good food.

Food was ok. Service was really nice! Overall I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Seating was a bit close.

The ambiance is fantastic it's really quite a vibe and a fun experience, especially if you're introducing someone who's not used to sushi to a sushi place. They have a large menu with many options even if you're not really into sushi. We on the other hand LOVE sushi and this is good, but not incredible sushi. They had a great lunch menu price so I would come back for that and the vibe.

Great food and drinks! Came in during Chinese new year and they were packed. Lots of great sushi options. I really liked their treasure nest that had all types of seafood. It was very fresh. The staff was really nice too!

First off, I will say that I love the funky atmosphere and kitschy Asian decor and the staff were all extremely polite and friendly. Unfortunately the lounge area smells bad. There is a waterfall in there that has a nasty moldy subway water smell emanating from it. The dishes we ordered were also quite nasty. The boneless "duck" recipe must be as follows: take roasted boiled rodent meat and shred like cheese, then place into rectangle shaped mold and deep fry until crispy. Slather with greasy salty sauce. The "spicy" noodle dish was swimming in a greasy tasteless sauce and all of the shellfish that came with it were cold. I would expect more for a $28 dish. The rice in the sushi was super mushy. I left feeling nauseous. So much potential but they need a new chef STAT. Won't be returning.

Food: Sub-par sushi. We got a mix of rolls and they were just OK. I've had much better around the Hudson valley. We also got the Thai spring roll and it wasn't anything special. Ambience: The inside is gorgeous! That's why I wanted to try it out. They even have a traditional Japanese room u can reserve where u sit on the floor. The decor is beautiful in this place and very relaxing. Service: We went on a weekday, the service was slow. But everyone was nice. I would only come back for the ambiance. That's all.

This place had the best miso soup my husband and I ever tasted. our dishes were delicious, although I didn't taste any coconut in my coconut curry Thai chicken dish. That said, I was still very satisfied. We expect to return often!

The egg roll was very nasty. I have no idea if it was old or what, but it tasted like no egg roll I have ever eaten in my life. Really nasty. They honey tofu was underwhelming. Will not be back. $30 down the drain.

Been coming to the spot since I was 11 years old and I'm glad to see they're still operational. I guess I can describe this place as a comfortable throwback to when I was a kid and it still gives me that warm vibe when I come back for lunch or dinner here. I stopped by for lunch today and the service was really good and the waitresses were kind and attentive and super friendly. The food was excellent.

Friends invited us to dinner at this local spot and hubby and I had never been. We had multiple apps and each had dinners. The Dimsum -Siu Mai (pork) was delish, amongst other apps we had. Dinners: Spicy Nutty chicken, chicken and mixed veg w spicy hunan, sesame chicken and Ginza special were all delish. The jasmine tea is fantastic at the end of the meal...love the ambiance and the indoor zen fountain is so pretty. We really enjoyed our experience. Service was great and we were offered more tea, which was very nice. We'll be back for sure.

I do love me some Yobo but when the new owners took over years ago. It has drastically decreased in quality. Although the sushi still holds a 5 star review but if you are thinking of ordering something from the kitchen I suggest you don't. The hibachi tastes as if it's bulk cooked in a catering hall. The chicken is dryer than shoe leather. Rule #1 never double cook already cut chicken! And always use fresh never frozen chicken! So that's why this review holds a 1 star rating. Until you increase quality of the freshness in the food and cook to order I would think of revising my review.

First time eating here. With the covid pandemic this should make going out interesting not to mention a bit uncomfortable, it turned out I had the best time. I really enjoyed how they utilized the outdoor area for dining, they made it look very charming and sweet also the super friendly service was a plus. Thanks Wade! I started with the crab Rangoon and although it was a bit greasy and wasn't traditional it was still ok! Would I order it again? Yes, but not from here. For my Main course I ordered drunken noodles with chicken and shrimp. Again! Not what I'm use to but very tasty. My drinks was deeeeliciooous I wanted to try every drink on the menu. My first drink was called peach blossom lychee and I loved it which lead me to order another drink called purple morph also my new favorite. I will most definitely come back for drink

We ordered, we as in I and my family and it was delicious just be careful cause it's hot the thai spring rolls were bomb but I burnt my tongue and the drinks were good, but am sad u can't have refills , the service was really amazing, the lady that we had was so funny and she laughed with us to, . So Thank you Yobo for the amazing treat. BUT TAKE MONEY WITH YOU IF YOU WANNA EAT. The servings were huge we took the rest home . We left the place like this . The sushi was so good for my first time trying sushi and I will definitely try Sushi again and I will be going back to Yobo again.

Service, food and drinks are excellent. The restaurant, however, could use a good cleaning. I don't believe they've ever dusted. So much dust. Floors could use a mopping, too.

We have been going to Yobo's for nearly 20 years and have never been disappointed. friendly service and great food. I frequently order the Sushi Sashimi Dinner Deluxe with a Sapporo Followed with Ice Cream Sunday. We will be going there again soon.

This was the WORST dining experience I've had in a very long time, might possibly be the worst. Let's start with the service... the older white lady that looks to be in charge of all the other waitresses is a brash nasty bitch. She has absolutely no customer service skills and needs to be shut down along with the restaurant. We didn't have a reservation so we were sat in the cold bar area where we were forgot about multiple times. The older white lady sat us back in the bar area, gave us one menu and told us to share because they were out of menus. I'm guessing silverware because we only got one set. My wife takes longer to scan a menu then I do so a let a few minutes pass before I went back up to the hostess table to see if another menu was available. At this point I'm almost trying to avoid confrontation with the old brash bitch, but of course she was right there when I asked, "we are full tonight, what can I tell you", responds the old brash bitch. At this point my wife sees I'm ready to lose it and ask me if I want to leave. At this point we were 30 mins in and decide to stay because we were starving. Finally it's time to order appetizers, at this point we are ready to order appetizers and the main course. I ordered the calamari, a sushi tower Crispy Jumbo Shrimp (Spicy Tangy Peking Style). My wife ordered a Kani salad and two shrimp tempura rolls, she was ready to eat as well. The calamari and chicken fried rice for my son came out first along with a small dish of seasoning for the calamari. It wasn't until I tasted the Calamari that I understood the reason for the side seasoning, it was beyond bland. I asked for spicy Mayo and was given half Mayo and half Sriracha in a dish smh. Finally, one hour after the appetizers came out the main course is served. This is where my wife and I become absolutely mind blown. My wife's shrimp tempura rolls look like they were dipped in eel sauce instead of the normal thin squeezed strips from a bottle. The roll tasted like it came from the seafood department in shop rite and was made the day before, my wife left what you'll see in the pics. Her Kani salad was just as gross, tasted like they mixed it with spoiled Miracle Whip. Neither of us had ever experienced such a poor tasting kani salad like this, and we've had our fair share from different places. See for yourself in my pics. Lastly is my meal... the sushi tower was probably the best thing out of everything served, still it was at best mediocre in taste. The jumbo shrimp were drenched in onions and their version of Peking sauce that I was told had some spice to it. No spice whatsoever, I had to ask for a side of chili oil to spicy it up. This was the hardest $90 I ever let go of. If my son wasn't with us, I would've told them to take all that shit back and then fought the old brash bitch (jk). But In all seriousness this place is horrible and has terrible customer service. Not recommended at all.

First off, this restaurant is sure beautiful on the inside, took a lot of photos. So got a table pretty quicky and the waitress was pretty quick taking our order and answering all questions I had about the menu. ordered the szechuan seafood noodles and spicy tuna maki. Food did take a while, but understandably so since there a lot of people there and really one waitress handling all the tables, she was def the MVP of the place. so, with the noodles, wish there was more noodles, there pretty buried under all the veggies, but still very al Dante and bathed in that wonderful spicy, plenty of chicken, shrimp and scallops, all cooked perfectly and so tender. spicy sauce was bit sweet, somewhat spicy and very savory, glad there was a lot of it. The waitress did forget my spicy tuna maki rolls, but when i reminded her, so was very quick to get them and apologize for it, Rolls were very good, very fresh and i like drizzles of siracha sauce and mayo on top, plus 6 pieces for 6$ is very good for it, other place would have wanted more for those rolls. overall, it's amazing here for it, just be sure to be patient and remind them if something is forgotten. :)

best chinese food in the area. Peking duck is excellent. Hong Kong noodle is just as good of not better than NYC

Wow what a place for sushi, the interior of this place is insanely amazing. Very economical, delicious food, host is amazing, super friendly folks, they take care of SOPs in context of Covid19. Must try, strongly recommended. 1- Szechuan Seafood 2- treasure nest 3- California Roll spicy Yellow Tail maki

If you come here, make sure you order American Chinese food (like sesame chicken). Dont order any of the more authentic sounding dishes like bogolgi or drunken noodles. I made the mistake of getting drunken noodles, it's was spaghetti noodles covered in moo goo gi pan...

Sesame tofu was bomb. Sushi was also really good. Nice atmosphere and servers were really nice.

What a great restaurant! Been going here for 40 years and never had a bad meal. Truly! The staff is great too. Very friendly. The sesame chicken is like no other I've ever had, and the drinks, well, you just need to go there and try a few. I always get the Asian Persuasion martini (which isn't on the menu anymore but just ask). My first time back since the pandemic closed everything and was surprised to see that they've added outdoor dining in the back!! Very nice! If you've never been there, GO! You won't be disappointed.

Not sure how this place is still around. Used to come here years ago but it seems like the quality has dropped. I love the funky 80s Chinese restaurant vibe but they need to hire new chefs. More importantly they need to revamp their menu. They should just focus on Chinese and not all Asian cuisine. Roast pork appetizer was slices of pork tenderloin with zero flavor in a watery broth. Sent it back. Chicken Satay was not with traditional peanut sauce and had tiny chunks of chicken. Cold sesame noodles with chicken had slices of steamed chicken and some bad sauce. Again, completely not traditional and almost tasteless. Split the duck, which at $60 should have been incredible. It was also bland and barely edible. Came to $50 a person and the table of 7 had a few drinks at most. They really need to change because I'm not going back until they do.

We have been visiting Yobo for quite a few years and have never been disappointed until yesterday. We ordered dinner for pick-up, and saying it was underwhelming, is an overstatement. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls and sashimi platters, in addition to a few appetizers (crab ragoons, seaweed salad, etc...) and it seems as though all the food was caught in the cross-fire of the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" gun. I was shocked by the portion size Everything had become miniature. We spent well over $100, which wasn't enough to fill up my two and four-year-old! My salmon avocado rolls contained only a smidge of both salmon and avocado. It was the tiniest roll I had ever seen. We are a lover of crab ragoons as well and even those lacked any substance. We will not be returning to Yobo in the future.

Living in the NYC area has spoiled me to some really amazing Asian cuisine. When I came up to visit my friend, she recommended for us to go to this spot. We ordered some buns to begin our meal. The dough was dry and hardly had any pork in the inside. I'm convinced they were frozen buns from the super market and not house made. Next came the entrees. My friend ordered the bulgogi plate and I ordered the Tang Soo (sweet and sour pork). The bulgogi was not traditional Korean style. The cut of the meat was wrong, the sauce was off and the kimchi that was served with the dish was hardly recognizable. My dish, the Tang Soo, was flavorless. For a second I thought I could potentially have COVID, however, I was able to taste my drink just fine and had tried my friends food. I hardly ate from my plate. Asked for it to go (so I could fix it at home and not waste food) and went to McDonald's after since I was still hungry. Final verdict, this place has turned me off from trying any other ethnic cuisine in the area.

We were very pleasantly surprised with yobo! Cant believe tonight was our first time coming. Pretty cool decor and nice ambiance. We were over the moon for the pork buns, portions were very generous, and our waiter grant was AMAZING. We'll be back!

I've been here a few times and had a good experience but today my experience was awful. The meal I was served was bland and watery. I politely told the waitress I don't want to be a pest but I'm jus not happy with my meal. It was $22 and I did not want to waste my money. I kindly asked if I could order something else which she said was okay. The manager then showed up and was very rude/passive aggressive towards me. I kept my composure and told her maybe it's jus the dish because I've been here before and the food was good. I was being nice in a situation where I could've been jus as rude as she was. I then waited for my food but as I was waiting workers were coming out one by one to make eye contact with me and laugh. I let it slide because I thought maybe I'm over thinking. I was not. It was obvious something was said or maybe something was done to my food because when the food was given to me everytime i took a bite the workers were either looking at me and or laughing. I was uncomfortable I packed my food and left. I did not leave a tip because I'm not tipping a place that made me so uncomfortable I felt the need to leave. It's unfortunate because I ended up dumping the food out anyways for my safety. The manager then waited for me to leave jus to walk over to my table to check if I tipped the waitress. The manager then chases me out to the parking lot to ask why I didn't leave a tip. I told her I was not happy with the service and I felt like they were pointing fun at me. Maybe someone played in my food I'm not sure and I have no proof but it was clear something was done that was making them come out one by one to watch me and laugh. She stood there and didn't reply once I said that which validated exactly how I felt. I then shut the door in her crazy face and left. I would not feel safe consuming food here again.

I cant believe I haven't reviewed yobo before! This has been my favorite restaurant for years! Much like everyone else I was really disappointed when they were under new ownership...BUT I was proven so wrong when their quality maintained and even increased. The decor is so inviting and romantic even. I love coming here for their yummy lunch specials and it's one of the few places I will also splurge for dinner. The quality is absolutely there. The sushi is fresh and delicious. The steamed buns are amazing. The waiter who regularly serves me has been there forever and he is nice and professional. I'm happy to say they also have very competitive prices despite the fact that they could charge more because of the high quality vibe and decor. Side note. This is what I would consider a nice restaurant to visit in person. I order sushi takeout in Newburgh all the time and I wouldn't do that here since they dont offer soup and salad with their lunch sushi special. I love yobo!

Wow... so disappointed!!!! I ordered shrimp Lo mein Togo..asked for it spicy also... I had 4mini shrimps in my dish with rice noodles. Now I wouldn't have minded if this had any type of flavor to it... but it didn't ! No flavor!!! And the "spicy" part i asked for was crushed red pepper in a small cup on the side. Which also HAD NO FLAVOR!!!!! I could've ate the little cup and not tasted anything... I really hope other food is better here because this was just terrible. Let me just add that the man who cashed me out was actually very kind. However I wish I ate in so I could've returned this lol

So lets just say it felt like it was everybody's first day. The food took forever to come out and the whole vibe of the place was stale. To top it off they charged me $2 for a side of spicy mayo and a side of eel sauce on top of all the other over priced food.... REALLY?!?! After i just waited an hour for my food?? I wont be going back anytime EVER.

The sushi was good! Not amazing but good. We also ordered their dumplings and those were great. Staff was very nice and helpful with explaining menu items. The atmosphere was nice too. Overall, I would recommend!

Friends wanted to go here for dinner and after reading all the reviews I was pretty apprehensive. My friend said she'd been here before and it was great so I took her word for it. The place has a cool atmosphere and we'd reserved the corner table which was semi private. I didn't appreciate the guy yelling at us to remove our shoes. Especially when the floor where our feet were going to go was filthy and looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months - food and crumbs all over.. But yell at us to take our shoes off. Okay.. Round of drinks came out and there was a giant gnat in mine. Pretty gross. They apologized and made a new drink. Food was okay but overpriced. Service was pretty good. They gave us complimentary tea and rice wine at the end - I'm assuming to make up for the buggy cocktail. Major stomach issues afterwards. Would not return here.

Yummy, yummy to the tummy! I want to give this place 5 stars but while the food was amazingly good it was borderline bland but not bland enough to say it was bad cause it wasn't. I guess they error on the side of caution when it comes to the seasoning so considering they are striking a balance for the average customer its a great balance. I got the beef skewers for appetizer & I'll admit I was like a child fascinated by the open flame provided to cook skewer further. Skewers were presented nicely but open fire was a great distracting bonus. Entrée portions were amazing, not over the top and not skimpy either. Average person will finish plate satisfied & those counting calories will leave with a small doggy bag. In my opinion portions were fair when comparing what you get for the price. My only complaint is soda portions are small but I didn't ask for refill because I'm that calorie counting fool that doesn't want to over indulge. Not sure if soda refills are free cause I didn't need one. I definitely will be back!

Ordered takeout here. I ordered the tofu stir fry and the crab Rangoons. I huge crab Rangoon person and for some reason these tasted off along with the dipping sauce they paired with it. I requested the tofu stir fry to be light on the sauce because I thought it would be thick. But instead the sauce tasted just like flavored oil. There wasn't any flavor in the dish. I'd be willing to retry this place when its reopened to diners.

A Newburgh classic, Yobo is one of the pioneers of Asian fusion cuisine in the Hudson Valley. The familiar yet sophisticated atmosphere feels like home and an upscale treat all at once. Cocktails with umbrellas and divine sushi!

Stopped by at Yobo on the way to montreal. staff is extremely friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant is relaxing. food came out in huge servings! everything was tasty and quality menu is a little confusing because they serve so many different types of asian food

My daughter and I are avid fans of Seoul Kitchen in Newburgh, but they were closed on Sunday night, so we looked for another Korean place to eat. So glad we did! The best part is the fun interior, where we walked around and looked at the various artifacts and Asian-style decor. My daughter is 8, such things delight her, and I am happy when she is happy! There's a bridge over an indoor "pond", lots of pretty lanterns and lights, sculptures and prints everywhere. While we waited for our food, which was quick and tasty, we played "eye spy" guessing which beautiful thing the other was thinking of. Waitstaff were gracious and accommodating, and the highlight, for my daughter, was the dessert tray! Thanks for a quiet and tranquil place to enjoy our family dinner. We will be back!

I've been here so many times and always loved the ambience, food, and drinks. I always try something new on the menu and have never been disappointed. Sushi rolls are always good and I'm obsessed with the dim sum.
