i have been craving some artisanal high quality frozen yogurt (not the yogurtland type lol no hate but its really not the same) for awhile now and its honestly sooo hard to find especially in oc. so when i was in la over the weekend i knew i had to stop by yoga-urt!!! it was a pleasant surprise and added bonus that this place is also vegan!
the shop itself is pretty small and on a relatively quiet street (not much to do around here besides the fast food places across the street) and there's only street parking. luckily i found a spot right in front of the place and it was free because it was sunday!
upon entering you're immediately greeted with a sign that tells you the flavors they have for the day. when i went, they had strawberry, chocolate, peanut butter, plain tart, salted caramel, and mint. they were so kind to offer us samples so we tried all of them except mint and strawberry. we went with a small of the chocolate & salted caramel which complimented each other soo well. the chocolate was so pure and dark and well, chocolatey, haha which is just how i like it! and the salted caramel was pretty light, it was a perfect balance of salty and sweet without being too sweet like caramel usually is. im usually a plain tart girly but theirs was a little sweet to me (whereas my boyfriend thought it was too tart lol) so it was sweetly tart i guess. the peanut butter was supperr nutty and not for the faint of heart but perfect for pb lovers. we also got brownie and pistachios as our toppings. their brownies are made in house and they were honestly sooo good. they were so chewy and soft and paired well with the flavors we got and their pistachios were just pistachios but it went well with the ice cream and luckily werent stale! added a nice crunch
besides froyo, they also sell shakes, sundaes, floats, pie slices, lots of pints (way more flavors offered in pints than the daily rotation), froyo cookie sandwiches, and more i dont remember. theres a fridge to your left with all of those goodies so you can take a look and choose your poison!
the only downside of this place is that it's kind of very expensive lol. it's definitely la prices and i suppose the reason is that it's vegan and they use high quality ingredients. i noticed the brownies were also gluten free which was cool too. we paid $8.75 for the small and then the toppings were $1 for the brownies and $2 for pistachios, which i feel like is kind of steep for how many toppings they put on and how small the cup is. the presentation was also not the best, as my cup was dirty and the froyo was rather droopy is sad looking. the toppings were also kind of just thrown on rather unevenly so it looks messy and sad. tastewise, their froyo is delicious, and it honestly doesn't even taste vegan which i enjoyed. i think this place, with that price point, is more of a nice once in a while treat, rather than an everyday dessert after dinner.
