Yogurt Club - Review - Upper East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"It’s been a big fall for frozen yogurt:Mimi’slanded in Nolita, andMadison Fareopened its second location in Greenwich Village. But the newest on the scene, an influencer-owned Upper East Side shop named Yogurt Club, doesn’t just do frozen yogurt—they’re serving extra-strained greek yogurt too, which has gone viral in South Korea. You can get toppings on anything." - Willa Moore

Honestly love that there’s a healthy sweet treat option I can visit when I’m in UES! I liked the frozen yogurt (tart) the most. If you get the strained yogurt, you should try getting a syrup or a sweet topping because the texture is dry from getting the whey strained out. In terms of toppings, I highly recommend the honeycomb — they were so generous with the portion size!!

Google
can definitely work on logistics - it is a new spot so it needs to be run more efficiently. checkout kiosk also breaks frequently. the froyo was good - i liked the honey comb.

Google
it’s so expensive and every topping is $1.50-$3.00

The staff is underprepared and the store runs like chickens with no head. They may have changed the formula for the yogurt but charging $1.50 per scoop of topping is ridiculous given how inedible the yogurt itself is. You can definitely make this at home for way cheaper and fresher ingredients, not having to also deal with the rude staffs. 2/10 wouldn’t recommend.

Google
They de-listed their shop and removed all previous reviews so I’m updating once again. For the quality of the yogurt, their price isn’t justified. Additionally the manner in which they handle the food doesn’t seem safe for the consumer, I’m curious to see their health rating. I wouldn’t recommend.

**updated** Back to Yogurt Club for the second time and as you may have noticed, they've become even more generous with their topping portions after hearing customer feedback. They've also improved the texture of their dry Greek yogurt: it's now even creamier, almost like a scoop of healthy ice cream. It completely won me over, even though I usually prefer frozen yogurt. *Biscoff Banana Crunch Greek Yogurt $13 * I usually only see pistachio knafe, so this was my first time trying a biscoff version. When it melts slightly into the salted caramel greek yogurt, the mix of crunchy and creamy textures was really soothing. I was expecting it to be way too sweet, but it wasn't! *Frozen Yogurt with Matcha Shell, Honeycomb, Peppermint, Strawberries $13.25 I went with the Greek tart flavor and it was perfectly tangy. I topped it with honeycomb, which instantly reminded me of the signature raw honeycomb at Yoajung, the famous froyo specialty shop in Korea. The waxy texture added a fun crunch to it. **old review** I've read mixed reviews about Yogurt Club but since I visited when it just opened at ten on its grand opening day, my experience was quite positive. I've been following the owner Krystal Oh's update since the very beginning, from finding a store to designing the interior to tasting. It's super inspiring to see the preparation progress. *Greek Yogurt Bowl I added a matcha shell, pistachio sauce, and pistachio knafe ($4), and I highly recommend this combo. They didn't skimp on the knafe at all! They even offer grapefruit as a topping, which is something you rarely see here. Thick Greek yogurt is strained more than regular yogurt, giving it a richer, denser texture. One scoop is almost like two of regular yogurt, which means more protein and more nutrients. It tends to be a bit drier, but it makes for a nutritious, filling breakfast. I'd suggest getting it with drizzle or honey. One scoop starts at $7, with toppings around $1.50 each. *Vegan Vanilla Frozen Yogurt So glad they had a vegan option! I went for a more biscoff-chocolate flavor with biscoff crumbs, a chocolate shell, and biscoff drizzle. If you prefer a smoother, creamier texture, the froyo is perfect as a dessert. I got medium for $8. While I can't recall the price for one serving of froyo, it is definitely cheaper than that of greek yogurt.

Yelp
Back to my new favorite yogurt spot, for their limited December flavor. As you may have noticed, they've become even more generous with their topping portions after hearing customer feedback. They've also improved the texture of their dry Greek yogurt: it's now even creamier, almost like a scoop of healthy ice cream. It completely won me over, even though I usually prefer frozen yogurt! *Biscoff Banana Crunch Greek Yogurt $13 * I usually only see pistachio knafe, so this was my first time trying a biscoff version. The knafe had a gentle crunch and a buttery biscoff flavor that felt comforting without being too much. FYI peppermint and mini marshmallows are only here for December.

Yelp
Quality: I got the thick greek yogurt. The yogurt and toppings were fresh. It is exactly as advertised dehydrated thick greek yogurt. Variety: a lot of toppings to choose from but all $1.50 or more. I got the pistachio knafe which is $3. Atmosphere/Cleanliness: clean small space with bench seating for 5 people max. Service: there's 2 self service kiosk which makes ordering really easy. My yogurt came out in under 3 minutes. There's also free cups of water which you definitely need to wash down the yogurt. Price: $16.88 including tax for one scoop and 5 toppings This place is definitely worth a try for those who REALLY love greek yogurt, but I would not come back because the price for the yogurt and toppings are ridiculous.

Yelp
When you go through the door, the cashiers will offer you a taste test, and if you come in here wanting to get dry yogurt, you should definitely try it on the little spoon first. The texture will be extremely jarring (like a thick paste), and the taste is very plain. That said, once you pour on a bunch of toppings (we got honey, coconut, and peaches), it tastes decent. Like, it can be a hearty breakfast. But WOW is it dry. Also, the fact that adding toppings is a must to save the taste gets bad when you realize the toppings are $1.50 each. They are generous with the toppings, but they should definitely be $1 each at the most. We also tried the frozen yogurt, which I also found pretty underwhelming. I much prefer the froyo at Pinkberry. The yogurt here was just a bit melty and the tart flavor was still sweet. I think I just preferred something more tangy, but truly to each their own. My cousin did say that the owner had been taking note of what people were saying in their reviews and already making adjustments accordingly, which I think is actually very admirable and a good sign! I'm not sure if this is the best area for something like this, but it was nice to try it out.

Yelp
I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. Yogurt Club is a frozen yogurt shop, not that different from Pinkberry or any other. You order at a kiosk. Yes, I found it to be expensive for what it is. The product was fine but not earth shatteringly amazing. The fun with frozen yogurt is the toppings and when you start adding these, the price really jumps quickly. This small yogurt with mochi, strawberries and chocolate she'll cost more than $10. I also tasted the regular yogurt and found it was just okay. I'd rather order the frozen yogurt.

Yelp
I want to start with strained Greek yogurt is an acquired taste. I've never had it before so I'm not sure if I don't like it, or there are better places. I went on opening day and was able to get 1.5 scoops (to share with a friend) of the strained Greek yogurt before it sold out. Minus one star for the price to topping ratio. Our yogurt was almost $19 and paying $1.50 for each topping for the smallest amount is a terrible pricing structure. I'd rather pay by weight. I also think, if someone orders a lot of toppings, they should put it in a bigger cup to fit all of the toppings. Another minus one star for the hospitality. The owner, Krystal oh, was at the store on opening day. As the owner of the shop, I was surprised she wasn't talking and greeting the customers and gathering feedback. Instead, she was standing in the corner on her laptop. I think if she was gathering feedback in person, she wouldn't have had this much backlash. I may or may not go back for the frozen yogurt but would like to see if they change the pricing structure.

Yelp
Been following the creator for a while and was excited to find out she opened during my trip here! It was super good and filling. Didn't think it was too dry, but I did stop by after they changed the consistency from when they first opened.

Aretty T.

Yelp
Loved the strained and frozen yogurt! The owner was so sweet and gave out goodies during the first week of the shop being open. Samples of the different yogurts were available, the place looked sanitary, and the staff was friendly. Although this place has had some drama surrounding the topping prices, the yogurt itself was great!

Yelp
Wanted to try this new spot after hearing all the hype but boy was I disappointed. I get the concept of thick yogurt but what they're serving here is just dry like they've over-strained it. It's also extremely overpriced. I paid $1.50 for the tinest scope of grapes. It only had 2 whole grapes! Each scope was very stingy. In total, I paid $16 for a tiny cup that wasn't even full... service was mid at best. The servers barely greeted us with a smile. Overall, I could make this at home and make it better. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone to try.

Yelp
I wrote a very helpful and neutral review on Google maps --3 stars --and it got deleted so now I'm docking one star off for literally deleting reviews that aren't spam and that are trying to help!!!!!!! Kind of arrogant copy and pasting my review here: As someone who eats dry yogurt all the time in china, i was slightly disappointed with how dry the yogurt was. I know this yogurt store just opened recently so I dont wish to be too harsh but i think there should be an option to choose either twice strained or once strained yogurt and also perhaps an option to mix the original greek with the dry greek since I tried my friend's swirled original with mine and switching between the two in between bites was a good balance. What also helped with the dryness was any fruit or sauce topping which made my bowl extremely pricey for 1.50 each topping. I spent 17 usd on a bowl that i had a lot of trouble eating :( which i dont think is reasonable even in this economy. I wish there was the option for one or two base free toppings bc i barely got to put any on mine before the price got too steep.

Yelp
Ngl tried to like it but why am I paying for store bought yogurt and toppings for 1.50..... not worth the price or the service.
google avatar

Linda B.

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting. The moment I walked in I noticed the floors were disgusting and muddy. I'm not sure how the heck they thought it was okay to leave a restaurant looking like that, but I tried to look past that because I wanted to try the yogurt. I'm a big fan of frozen yogurt and even make my own bowls in the morning with Greek yogurt, but there was something unnecessarily tart and "off" tasting with what I got. Not to mention that it was dead in there, and the workers met me with no hospitality. Overall, the service was horrible. The environment was unsanitary, and the food was definitely not worth the unnecessarily inflated prices. If I could put zero stars I would.

Pamela S.

Yelp
I really wanted to like it, but paying $14 for the smallest cup of yogurt with barely any strawberries -literally about half a strawberry. Was very disappointing

Ashley C.

Yelp
Yogurt was very dry and thick, but it was ok with toppings. Definitely overhyped and overpriced though
google avatar

Lindsay N.

Yelp
extremely overpriced. the yogurt is insanely dry and is only decently swallowable when you add a bunch of sauces and toppings. $1.50 for each topping and getting a spoonful of cut up grapes is insane i do not recommend

Kathy Z.

Yelp
I've never been to a place that was so overhyped. Insane prices ($1.50 per topping and they ive you such a small scoop) and it's just ran by a silly influencer. Trader Joe's thick and creamy yogurt was more tasty. Just make it at home for a fraction of the cost. You should not be relying on toppings to make yogurt taste good. I get it - it's just plain yogurt but there is nothing special about it. it's just strained and you can do that in the comfort of your home. I have no idea why this place is getting any positive review. I wrote a google review but it is not being shown so I am very suspicious of what the business is doing behind closed doors. Incredibly disappointed and I will not recommend to anyone.

Angelique N.

Yelp
I dont get the hype of this place. the yogurt was overprice and super dry. staff was rude as well

Kenny H.

Yelp
Worst frozen yogurt I've ever had. Did not have the Greek yogurt available so tried the normal vanilla yogurt. Was extremely overpriced (medium yogurt was 15 dollars) and the vanilla flavor was super artificial. I got mango and pineapple as toppings and they were not fresh and tasted like it was out of a can. Highly, highly recommend going anywhere else for frozen yogurt.

Nicole A.

Yelp
I went here just as it opened and I am absolutely hooked! I came back a week later and she changed the formula of the yogurt to be slightly creamier and I loved it even more. The toppings pair so well with the yogurt and it was delicious to eat! Krystal is so so sweet and I can't wait to come back.

Pebbles B.

Yelp
The owner has a known reputation of having terrible integrity, the yogurt is absurdly expensive, and terrible service. Firstly, the Krystal (the owner) wiped all the negative reviews on google maps, it had a 2.5 star rating with 150 reviews on the weekend of the grand opening. Now its all gone. Krystal must have contacted google to wipe anything negative about it or something- which really shows what kind of person that runs this establishment is. Krystal is known for cutting corners and hiking up the price of things, as evident in her previous nail businesses. The yogurt is ridiculously expensive, priced at $7 for ONE scoop!!!!! The same size of an ice cream scooper!!!! The strained yogurt is completely inedible without toppings which are priced at $1.50 each. The honeycomb is another $3. The dubai chocolate drizzle is a whopping $4. This pricing is absurd, as your bowl can easily go over $20. The workers there were rude and impolite. Also, the yogurt isn't even made in house- it's only strained! you can strain yogurt yourself easily at home by scooping yogurt into a bowl and putting a paper towel under it!
