Not a bad little ramen joint.
If you live in the Thousand Oaks Shopping Center area, there are plenty of little stores that keep the community happy - Yokai.is one of them. On those rare wet chilly days when you yearn for hot savory soup to warm your bones, Yokai provides you with great tasting ramen.
It's a small palce on the corner, with ample parking on the side. You enter, are greeted and seat yourself. You order at the table and receive your order at the pickup window.
I had the spicy tonkatsu at (spice level 3-4, where 5 is the max), and was left both pleased with the product. The noodles were prepared well, not sticky or soggy. The dish came with a nice size slab of grilled pork, and plenty of corn, mushroom, and green onions. The broth was flavored sufficiently
I also tried the octopus balls. These were deep fried crab filled balls with one or two pieces of octopus tentacles in them. They weren't bad and the preparation and presentation of this dish was well done. What could be better is adding more octopus, the crab filler and sauce ended up dominating the taste of this appetizer - when I was expecting more cowbell, err octopus
The service was fantastic. We placed our order and maybe five minutes later the food was ready. The ambience was great - like a Japanese anime motif with J-Pop playing in the background. The Thousand Oaks area is lucky to have this little ramen shop as part of their diverse food selection.
