All the New Montreal Restaurants That Opened in May 2022 | Eater Montreal

"I visited Yoko Luna, a nearly 20,000-square-foot supper club on De la Montagne billed as Canada’s largest, where chefs Andrew Bambino and Hakim Chajar present a Nikkei-influenced menu with dishes such as tuna belly tartare taquitos and a king crab mille-feuille alongside sushi and high-end steaks (wagyu, kobe, toro) and cocktails by mixologist Lawrence Picard; the project, from the Farsides and Bord’elleteam, previously drew criticism when it debuted under a different name and with problematic imagery—those posts and the old name were removed, though a 15-foot 'geisha' statue and a promotional promise to “unlock all of one’s desires” remain." - Valerie Silva

The four of us were seated comfortably in a remarkable setting. Our meals were all well executed and genuinely enjoyable, with balanced, purposeful flavours and quality ingredients throughout. Dessert was truly exquisite. Service was friendly and engaging, yet despite what seemed to be an overabundance of staff, the pace was unexpectedly slow, which left us a little puzzled. I did not find techno music conducive to having a relaxed meal, but at least the volume was reasonable enough to allow for conversation.

Extravagant would be an understatement! We came in for one drink and were met with a giant goddess like statue followed by a sun and moon interpretive dance show with flashing lights and funky music. Very cool experience! 🪩

We celebrated a friend’s birthday at Yoko Luna and had an unforgettable night! We ordered three bottles and enjoyed every moment ,the music was amazing, the vibe was electric, and the whole place felt upscale and fun. Service was top-notch, and the atmosphere made it perfect for a special night out. Highly recommend making a reservation , it gets busy, and for good reason. One of Montreal’s best spots!

The food was okay, the drinks were good (I ordered a lychee martini). The waiter was very weird about us having to tip (constantly mentioning that it’s not apart of the bill). I’d give this place overall a 2/5 because it’s very pricey for the quality of food and drinks. If you have the opportunity to dine somewhere else, please do. Don’t get trapped by making reservations or they will charge you $35 CAD for each person to cancel within 24 hrs.

The dj is awesome. But I'll say just be careful with your belongings even at coat check. My 200 cad from my jacket got stolen and there is no way to prove it. So, just beware when you hand over your belongings to someone else that is a stranger.

I wish we had more places like this in Toronto, DJ was setting the perfect vibe. All the food we ordered was top notch, Pink blossom Crab roll, Karai Salmon, Tiger shrimp Gyoza, Truffle Edamame. Stefano our server was awesome - provided great recommendations and quick service. Shows and dining room were breathtaking, literally always something to look at.

Google
We had an amazing time at Yoko Luna last Sunday! Chirag booked us an amazing table for dinner, right next to the DJ booth. Dancers put on a show, it was fantastic! We did the set dinner menu, so worth it. Service by Lou was top tier. Can’t say enough good things! Highly highly recommend!

Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and creative, from the beautifully plated sushi rolls to the vibrant citrusy ceviche in an upscale yet relaxed setting. What truly made the night special was our server, Christophelle. She was easily one of the best servers we’ve ever had. Warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu. She anticipated everything before we even had to ask and made the entire experience feel personal and effortless. If you’re looking for a spot that combines top-tier food with outstanding service, this place is it. Five stars all the way.

Yelp
THE BIG: Japanese fusion restaurant that evolves into a club at night. Theatrics and acrobatics galore. Very vibey inside. Primarily an uber or taxi spot. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here with a bachelor party and we got the tasting set menu. It was already pretty loud inside the restaurant when we got there at 7pm. For the set menu, we first began with a couple of sushi rolls, followed by some sashimi, with a bunch of other appetizers that i can't remember. All were delicious and we definitely had some leftovers. Afterwards we stayed for our dining to be converted into club table with our bottles. There was a DJ and plenty of acrobatics and show to go around. THE FINAL BAMBOO: We had a group of 12 guys and with the set menu, drinks, and then the table afterwards, we spent around $450 CAD each. Fun, filling, and entertaining night.

Yelp
Food was amazing and the service was top tier! They gave a tour of the place after dinner since the spot turns into a club and the whole place was beautiful! The place was literally 5 steps from our airbnb too!

Yelp
I came here in a party of 9 for ladies night and had an excellent time. The service was great and everyone enjoyed their dishes. We especially enjoyed the tuna tartare and the tuna sushi roll. The only downfall was the long wait for the main course given the restaurant was transitioning to a club. It took almost 1.5-2hrs to get our main dishes. Overall for the price i'd recommend it. The music was a vibe too!

Yelp
The food here was phenomenal, everything I had on the set menu for large parties was amazing. All the food was super tasty and the service was awesome. I have never been to a restaurant that turns into a club, that was one of the most unique experiences I have had. Definitely a place everyone should check out if they plan to go Montreal.

Yelp
What a cool experience. Went with a group of 14 on a Saturday night. Went for dinner and the place eventually turned into a club at night. It's a stories and they play electronic / house on the 1st floor and 2nd floor played hip hop. The dinner is cool, because they have a live show playing all night.

Yelp
Aligned to the previous comments, this is a really fun spot. Unique decor, friendly hosts & servers, fantastic DJ. Cocktails were also very good. We went for dinner (4 people), had 5 apps & 3 entrees, and the food was truly excellent but sizes were smaller side. Reservation was at 9pm, so the DJ was already on, making it hard to hear each other at the table. Definitely aligned with inflation trends- expect a hefty price tag (~$200/pp for food alone).

Yelp
Yoku Luna is a great destination, but don't go for the food. The nightclub/restaurant has creative and flashy if over-the-top décor and has Instagram-worthy spots around every corner. It's a great spot to visit just to take in the décor during dinner hours. The food was good but nothing highly memorable. We really enjoyed our cocktails and appetizers, but the mains were nothing special. The service seems like a weak point, as indicated in a few other reviews. Our servers were friendly, but the amount of time to get our cocktails was ridiculous and there was too many time between ordering and getting appetizers and not enough time before mains. We also felt pressured to leave immediately as dinner wrapped up. All in all, go and take some pictures, but plan to have a memorable experience rather than a memorable meal.

Yelp
Let's take you with me on my night at Yoko Luna! If you don't want to read, a brief summary is this: - Food 9/10 - Price 7.6/10 - Interior 9/10 - Service 6/10 Walking into the restaurent is quite impressive. The ambiance is perfect for either an intimade date or a night out with friends. Decor is absolutely beautiful. My friends and I went on a Sunday night for our best friends birthday. She was so excited about this place and a big bonus for us was that according to Google and on their website, they closed at 3am (even on Sundays). You're even able to reserve a table for bottle service directly on the website. This was big for us because our day jobs are not typical 9-5 and most of us are off Mondays. When we arrived to our table, we were seated directly in front of the bar and looking over the entire restaurent, just above the bar, was the DJ. I've never seen anything like it, it was so beautiful. We had our dinner reservations for 830 and sat down to eat and ordered a bottle for the table. The food was delicious. I'll admit, I was exepcting a tiny portion of the salmon tartare since it was an appitizer. However, I was surprised to find it sitting on rice cakes. They were very tasty and perhaps the only negative I would give them was that it was a touch salty. My friend and I both ate them and we both were able to taste the salt in the aftertaste of the initial bite. I also had the waygu quesadilla, which in my opinion, was totally worth it, flavors balanced perfectly. For my main, I opted for the Kamikaze Maki Roll, which, unfortunately was a touch smaller than I had hoped. I knew I wasn't going to get all you can eat size rolls, but they were pretty small for a main meal and price point. Taste wise, however, very good. I could have easily had 10 more. Service was nothing special. It was a pretty quiet night and despite that, we found ourselves constantly looking around for our waiter (when asking for water since the bottles don't get left on the table). When dinner ended, we asked the waiter if we could keep the table for the rest of the night. To our dissapointment, he said that they closed at midnight. We were confused as everywhere stated 3 am, but he said it was an error online. It was a little bit of a bummer because we were looking forward to it, but overall, not a bad experience!

Yelp
#rip1234

Yelp
Loved the ambiance.. loved the service staff... loved the vibe. ...the door guy was a bit rude and patronizing like he was bullied in school and now taking it out on clients. ...the food was good, but their heirloom tomatoes was just over priced regular ass tomatoes, I hate feeling deceived ...the drinks are over priced and also felt like it didn't match the description.

Yelp
Best nightclub in the downtown area. Took these pics before the club filled up. My 25 year old went there after midnight and had a great time.

Yelp
Interior: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Food: 5/10 If you come here strictly for the restaurant experience and not the super club, and you're a foodie, you'll be disappointed. The food is okay, but overpriced. There's nothing special about it - no signature flavours. Obviously, I suspect the ingredients are not extremely fresh. If you'd go somewhere in the west coast or in Asia to order sushi, just the sashimi piece itself will make you drool and tear up. Also, it'd be a fraction of the price. They are working with fish that isn't that fresh - half the flavour is already lost before plating. Then they add stuff to put flavour on it, and it's not that it's badly executed, it's just basic AF. Nothing screams "I'm having a luxurious meal" except for the plating. The tomahawk was half dry aged fat. It was hard to bite into. The braised beef was a bit too sweet and the flavour of the sauces with it didn't mix. The truffle corn was very stiff and heavy. When you spoon it, it doesn't melt into your spoon but just stays as a stiff lump. Service was nice. I think the owner was making sure things were running smoothly so he came about our table couple times while his waiter was running other tables. Interior is nice but bathroom situation is weird. We arrived early evening. There wasn't a lot of people. So I was surprised to see piss on the floor. No napkins to wipe your hands (the boxes were empty or with used toilet paper in it). There was a mysterious oily handprint on the wall of the bathroom. It was just... odd. Also, for anyone that does go to the washroom, you'll notice that there's no indication where it is and whether it is unisex, men or women. FYI it's unisex.

Yelp
Outstanding! Food, service, and ambiance was amazing. It was the best experience we had in Montréal. We have been there once before and this time was even better. They had a great selection of wines. I ordered the Picanha, it was cooked just perfect. Definitely recommend this place. We can't wait to be back!

Yelp
First and foremost, wonderful ambiance. The design of the place is stunning and very cohesive. It's a great place for a group party, we came for a bachelorette and it was awesome. The main complaint I do have has to do with group parties/ tables though. If you come here as a group for dinner, with the intention of having a table for later in the evening for the club scene/ bottle service, it is absolute. Chaos. The process of them trying to break down the dinner tables/ clean and set up bottle service tables is a nightmare. We all were standing around, unsure where to stand/ to be since no one mentioned anything, and at this point the club is beginning to fill quickly. We got jostled around, elbowed, and shoved by the staff for about 20 minutes until they finally managed to get the table set up amongst the strobes, music, and people. One of our group members was pregnant (only there for sentiment) and was experiencing this the same as all of the rest of us, which was frankly frustrating. Once the tables were set up, it was an awesome time for the rest of the night. The food was fantastic and the music and lighting was awesome. Really a great time! But I do not recommend coming for dinner and then getting a table, do one or the other. Because the transition period was TOUGH. If you do both, perhaps hide in the bathroom until it's over. Save yourself some thrown elbows.

Yelp
Delicious, beautiful ambiance, good service What more can I say. Would go back ! Try the sesame ribs

Yelp
The ambience was nice but music was way too loud. Left with a throbbing migraine. It took so long for the food to come out that once it did I was ready to leave. The portions were extremely small and overpriced. Could not believe my eyes. Left hungry
