San Francisco’s New Restaurant Openings - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Also in Four Embarcadero Center (and also part of the Vacant to Vibrant program) is York Street Cafe, the latest pop-up to land a permanent space. This cafe (it formerly popped up mainly in the Mission) is serving creatively named tea and espresso drinks like Pandan in Paradise and a What’s in a Forest latte. They share space with Whack Donuts. 15 Quintessential San Francisco Coffee Shops

"After a successful stint as a garage pop-up in the Mission, and while running experiential dining pop-up Just Some Folks, Anand Upender is now running a permanent location through San Francisco’s Vacant to Vibrant program. His inventive coffee drinks are the draw here, including the pleasant and floral Forest Latte, but vegan donut extraordinaire Whack Donuts is co-headlining the show, too. My friend loved the cold brew and I got the jaggery coffee. We both loved the coffee. I have been following Anand’s journey through the first coffee pop up he did in the community. Love the various coffee recipes he has been perfecting and the community aspect of york st cafe.

This is an SF hidden gem! As someone who's not much of a coffee person but likes coffee shops, York Street Cafe's non-coffee (+low/no caffeine) options are the best I've ever tasted. I'm very partial to Almost Coffee, a chicory/barley blend served steaming hot. This is the only place I've ever encountered something like it, and it's so much better than my "go to a coffee shop and order water and a teabag" default. Also recommend Grandma's Chai as a close second, freshly brewed and expertly crafted.

Absolutely love this new coffee & donut shop in the FiDi! We desperately needed a local spot and this place delivers! The coffee shop owner treats each drink like a fancy cocktail with spices soaked in oat milk for days, homemade strawberry syrups and Uber creative twists - almost like a coffee mixologist at a fancy SF bar! Also, NO up charge for oat milk (thank youuuuu)! Pro tip: ask what the off menu drink is, the pandan latte is delish!!

Google
unique little coffee shop right, a few minutes from the Embarcadero BART station. the menu changes periodically, but i had the sesame latte (i think it was a late, definitely sesame) and it was delicious. definitely worth a stop, and it’s a pop up so better go before it’s too late!

Ironically I had a dream the night before of a donuts and I was on a mission to find some vegan donuts on this day. During my run I saw Whack donuts, which I've never noticed before. Later I walked by with my dog and poked my head in to ask if they had vegan donuts, which they responded that all of their donuts are vegan! I got the chocolate glaze. It was soft, moist, and had a little bit of a hint of pumpkin. I like that the donut wasn't insanely huge as well, a proper size. It was the perfect treat and satisfied my donut craving!

Anand is a dear friend and his pop-up is exactly what I’d expect from someone like him: delicious drinks and great connection! The forest latte is *chef’s kiss*

Mission based spot now located in Embarcadero Ctr! Fun specialty menu w/ lots of decaf and tea options. +1 star for not upcharging oat milk!

Easily the best coffee in the city. Very creative, surprising flavors. Ask for the secret recipe of the day.

Yelp
Great stop for coffee, their doughnuts look fresh and I plan on coming back when my hands aren't full . The staff were very nice, they made a drink iced for me despite the fact the original recipe was not iced . This shop is really nice inside with standing room to have your treats. It's a great low key spot to stop by on your way to the farmers market!

Yelp
A space where you feel like you can befriend anyone you meet. There is just good energy in here. Dedicated and speedy service from Anand and his team, and the drinks hit the spot. I will have to return just to try everything on the menu. As a person who's sworn off caffeine, I feel super seen here!
