Charming place to have tea tastings! Many good quality teas that you can drink and buy, nice presentation, and relaxing atmosphere. If you want gongfu style tea, come here!

Google
I'm so glad that I found this one of a kind tea shop! I did not order the tea tasting , however I ordered tea for myself and a friend from a menu that detailed the differences between each tea and we each got our own set up. The employees were very through and helpful in explaining to us the proper way to savor the tea. Overall it was a very relaxing, almost meditative way to enjoy drinking tea. This is a Taiwanese tea shop with a very tranquil environment, this is not a Boba tea spot for trendy colorful drinks or fried chicken but instead a place to relax and enjoy an authentic tea ceremony.

Google
Incredibly friendly and such an upgrade from places that give you a bag of tea to oversteep in a cup! I highly recommend this place to any tea enthusiasts looking for something next level!

Google
In a relatively affordable package of a full tea ceremony, Yonshantea's relaxing atmosphere provides possibly one of the most unique experiences found in the Los Angeles Area. While not necessarily an exclusive place, Yonshantea has a very peaceful environment that would usually be best for smaller engagements but that is not to say that larger groups are discouraged. A group tea tasking experience is offered but is reservation only. Without a doubt one of the places I intend to visit until I have tried all there is to offer, one tiny teapot at a time.

Best tea ceremony & Taiwan Oolong tea leave choices for tea enthusiasts, great knowledge sharing & warm service.

Google
Yoshan Tea offers a great experience for people interested in Taiwanese tea culture. The store also has a wide assortment of tea products and cups. Their oolong teas are rich in flavors.

Google
Tea tasting was two for $39. Fun experience but can be a bit pricey if your only experience with tea is the tea they serve at restaurants. Seems like a nice place to study. Reservations for tastings are recommended.

Google
My girlfriend and I went in for a tea tasting here, it was great! It was a very educational experience, the hostess taught us all about the teas being served and even showed us on a map specifically what mountain each tea was grown on, it's elevation, as well as how it is processed. I would highly recommend this shop, we purchased two bags and both are extremely good. If you are not too familiar with Taiwanese oolong tea the tasting is excellent for figuring out what kind prefer, but as far as I've experienced at the moment you cannot go wrong purchasing anything from them.

Yelp
So every once in a while I stop here to purchase my tea ,,,, Anne is absolutely wonderful to deal with, she's beautiful and she will sit down and make you whatever type of tea.You would like to try before you purchase to make sure you're getting something you actually are gonna enjoy,, she makes it very clear that she does not want your purchase to be somewhat of a guess,, store is small, but it's cleaned and it's quiet. You can rent an area there to have a quiet tea time with a friend or even if you simply want to Go and sit with her.She would be more than happy to keep you company... this is a high end and high quality tea shop.. i would not say this is the place for a beginner to start his journey. But it's definitely a place that needs to be tried a while on the journey of tea exploration.... so if you happen to find yourself on Duarte road in Arcadia,,, definitely stop and check it out. There's plenty of parking in the back ,,,,,,,, as it appears, this is going to be. My new go to shop when I need tea,, " the other place I used to get my tea from left me with a very unpleasant experience" and that's an entirely different story and an entirely different shop ,,,,,,,, anyways, seriously. Consider this place if you are exploring the world of the asian tea culture ,,,, the shop is truly a place that needs to be on your list to experience......

Yelp
cool artisan tea shop. they sell really fancy teas, tea pots, tea cups, etc. you can also try their tea tasting experience if you're into that! they have teas to go, carefully steeped... watching them steep it, they would time each step which was cool to see. pretty pricey tea shop, but if you have the time and money, or looking for a fancy tea experience / luxury gifts -- this would be a nice place to check out! i ordered a simple tea to takeout & it was around $8 for the cup. parking is plentiful and in a big lot. you can enter at the back door where you park!

Yelp
We came in near closing, so there wasn't enough time to sit down for a long, leisurely dine-in experience. We planned to just buy tea and come back for dine-in another time, but the owner(?) very kindly offered and prepared two teas for us to sample in the last 30 minutes. The teas were great and the owner is knowledgeable. We will definitely come back!

Yelp
We came in the middle of the work week, without a reservation. They allow walk-ins when available. The environment is peaceful and calm - a nice oasis from the busy life. The tea selection is plentiful and the staff is knowledgeable on the brewing and origins of the individual teas.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and thought they sold tea like a regular drink shop but I was so wrong - this is a full on tea restaurant! I was looking for a quick drink so I ordered a bottle of their cold tea to go and it was delicious. Excellent tea with good flavor, it was exactly what I was looking for. Very friendly owner, looking forward to coming back to sit down and try their hot teas.

Ivan M.

Yelp
Drove over an hour to get to this place, had heard wonderful things about the tea. Got here at 6:20 only to find out they had closed early. The sign says that it's closed at 7, they should updated their hours of operation if they don't want to waste peoples time

Yelp
I had a very uncomfortable experience at this tea shop while purchasing tea cups and pots as gifts for friends. We specifically asked for all-white items without any designs, but when the items were wrapped, we noticed a few had letters or drawings on them. When we pointed this out, the lady responded by saying, "But aren't these pretty?" We reiterated that we wanted exactly what we asked for, and she eventually changed them. After, she told us we need to tip for all the hardworking employees at the shop. When we asked where the workers were, she said they are not here today. We ended up feeling pressured into tipping for workers we never saw. Overall, the customer service was very disappointing, which is unfortunate because I really wanted to like the shop due to its appealing interior and attractive tea tin designs. It is not what recently happened, however, this experience left a lasting negative impression.

Yelp
I had a really great experience here. I'd planned a meet-up with colleagues without knowing it'd be one of the hottest days of the summer. The staff opened up just for us and were very kind, patient and accommodating. This place is all about the award-winning teas. I felt like I could stay there for hours on end. The ambiance was so chill and I felt a super deep sense of calm that carried me through the rest of my day. I'm looking forward to coming back and experiencing other teas with more friends and family.

Yelp
This business could benefit from a bit more signage or explanation of what they sell. The establishment is divided into a very high end shop that sells loose tea leaves and a place you can sit and have tea. The shop part tanges from $40 to $300 for 100g of tea so not for a casual purchase. There are no signs nor did the store associate explain what they sold in the tea shop. We asked about the tea tasting that is mentioned in some of the reviews but were told you need to reserve two days in advance. We then asked if they serve any kind of tea and were handed a menu. The menu didn't make clear it was a personal pot of tea but this was quickly explained after we ordered one tea. After figuring this out we settled to a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We each had our own tea set that came with a kettle of hot water, a tea pot, a cup to smell the aroma of the tea, and a tea cup to drink out of. We had probably around 8 cups of tea in a beautiful and peaceful environment.

Michael S.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful experience. Amazing teas and employees. Had wonderful conversations with our tea guide. We genuinely appreciated all her knowledge and patience with our questions which we knew was a little difficult due to the slight language barrier. I wish I could remember her name because I want to let her know her English was actually excellent and she should be quite confident with it! Overall a really great place that makes you feel welcome.

Yelp
A truly disappointing experience. I went in to purchase a gift box with three tea boxes and some tea for myself. After telling me that the box was 130 and then giving me a "discount" to make it 112. Later I checked online - the gift box set starts at 112. Then Betty the sales lady asks me if I want to sample their tea. Having only abt 15 minutes, I agreed and tried one type of tea (no mention of the tasting costing money). After making my purchase, she let me know that there was a "very very" small service fee/tip ( it wasn't, the lowest was 15% on my entire purchase). And then at purchase I saw that she was switching some of the cans of tea in the gift box set. I came home and saw that the manufacturing date on one of the cans was from 2022 and would expire next year while other cans expired in 2-3 years. I don't know if these cans were switched out for older products but given the misleading statements, it's hard to not wonder. I don't mind paying for good tea and continuing to purchase good tea. It's unfortunate that this was my experience.

Yelp
My friend and I did the tea tasting ($39 for two people), which was a fun experience. My parents thought it was expensive for a tea tasting, but I think the 1.5 hour experience was worth it. Ann answered all our questions and seemed really knowledgeable and willing to help. She actually spoke in Mandarin to us, but also offered the option of Cantonese or English. We came on a Sunday when it wasn't too packed. You're supposed to make a reservation, but we got lucky that it wasn't busy. We were told to come back an hour later, so we got a quick bite before heading back to the tea shop. The tasting is done one-on-one/two so it makes sense that you need a reservation. Oops. I like hot tea but don't know much about it. I tend to like the default jasmine tea served in Chinese restaurants (LOL, if that even is the correct tea). Neither my friend nor I like boba/milk teas, though. Tea tasting teas: Four oolong teas, one oriental beauty tea (also oolong, actually), and one black tea. It was very informative. Who knew it was possible to actually roast the caffeine out of tea? Counter-intuitively, more roasting means less caffeine. The lightly fermented/fresh oolong tea was my favorite. Sadly not available as a tea bag, although there are similar versions. You can get individual tea bags at $1.85 each, sets of one flavor for around $18, or if you choose 16 tea bags they give you a nice box to package the tea bags in. Teas can go well into the hundreds of dollars here, but we never felt pressured to buy at any point. I did buy tea bags to try. They also offer takeaway drink options. I would definitely love to try those next time. The atmosphere of this place was so relaxed and quiet. It's a great place to study. It's also free to sign up for a VIP card which helps you earn points. I believe after spending $200 you get 10% off all future purchases.

Yelp
With its upscale furnishings, good quality bougie tea and great service, YoshanteaLA is something you would imagine in Century City or Pasadena. So, it's definitely a nice surprise to have them open in Arcadia which I think helps to diversify the businesses here. What they offer in a nutshell: - Top notch tea from Taiwan for purchase in a variety of sizes ($20s-$150+) - Tea pots and sets - Tea tasting (~45 minutes for $19.50/person) - 'Dine in' DIY Tea (tea set on loan during your stay + pastry for about $10.95/person, exact price depends on the tea) I only did the tea tasting and ordered drink to-go, so I'll just be talking more about those. ***Tea tasting*** Reservations required just by calling them in advance. Sharon was in charge of my tea tasting and she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the company, different tea preparation techniques, stories of the origins of the tea, and how to drink the tea. I was given five different oolong teas + black tea to taste. These aren't the complicated tea blends you would find in some tea shops, but they are teas in their truest and purest form. A standout to me was the Osmanthus Oolong Tea. Just a few moments after the infusion with hot water, a beautiful floral, sweet aroma came out and I could actually taste the sweet undertones! (Won't be syrup sweet just saying but subtle sweet as Mother Nature intended). What surprised me was how much nuances there were in each of the teas. Over time, the flavors themselves changed. In particular, I felt the Fresh Dong Ding Tea became more and more "full" of flavor and the Oriental Beauty Tea's natural sweetness was more present in my second round of tasting and then faded in subsequent rounds. Who knew that each tea could give you a different journey of its own. Towards the end, you would expect them to go into sell mode, but in fact they didn't! I actually asked about the products on the shelves myself. Even then, she wasn't pushy at all and I felt so much at ease. ***Takeaway/To-Go Menu*** Like what other Yelpers have said, there's no boba. I did order the heavy roasted Dong Ding Tea milk tea with half sugar and was curious how this compares to the roasted oolong milk teas from your usual boba shops. Obviously the tea quality will be different but I'd also say that the sugar content is finally Asian normal! It's not hitting you with sugar tea water unlike how others do it. Though, I can imagine that some folks with a sweet tooth would want probably at least 100% sugar. ***Location*** If you're a local then you would know this place is just a few blocks away from Arcadia High School and public library! Who knew huh? Parking lot is behind the store and can be accessed from Santa Anita right before Duarte Road (before the gas station) or the tiny entrance on Duarte Road. So beware of the afterschool traffic right past 3pm.

Yelp
There is a calmness that I immediately felt when we entered this tea house. Sharon was so helpful and welcoming. Her knowledge base is incredible as we learned so much about the various types of oolong tea, the growing, harvesting, and steeping. We chose roasted dongding a new variety to us and look forward to enjoying our tea adventure. Will be back to this tea house next time we are in the area. Free parking right our front. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is worth visiting over and over again! I decided to sit for another tea tasting and had the pleasure of having Betty talk my friend and I through the tea selection and process. It was the most relaxing and educational hour we had in such a long time. Betty did an amazing job of giving us a detailed presentation of how to prepare the tea, how the tea is processed, the key notes we should taste, and so much more. My friend and I are already making preparations to come back to take their roasting course. Every dollar you spend here is well worth it!

Yelp
Yoshantea Tea House is a high quality, traditional Taiwanese tea shop located in Arcadia, just down the street from the Westfield Santa Anita Mall. Established in 1880 in Taiwan, Yoshantea has a very rich history of growing and making quality teas, and the taste speaks for itself. Between the history, great service, delicious tea snacks, relaxing ambiance, and rejuvenating teas, Yoshantea should be on every tea lover's radar. I have been here twice now, and both experiences have exceeded expectations. The place itself is rather small, but the space is well-designed and feels sophisticated. It provides a very calm environment, perfect for relaxation on a Sunday afternoon. Towards the front is the shop, where you can buy gift boxes, tea ware, and drinks to go, and towards the back is where you can dine in and brew tea yourself. I highly recommend staying for a few rounds of tea and enjoying yourself here. Full disclosure, I'm no tea expert by any means. I actually don't usually drink it at all, as I don't care much for it, but every tea I've tried here has tasted great. My friends who are really into tea also love this place, which is why we will likely be back at some point soon, despite not living in the area. For about $8, you can choose from a long list of teas and brew it yourself at your table. Don't worry about not knowing how to do it, because the servers will explain everything you need to know to make your own perfect glass. The $8 do-it-yourself kit comes with complementary gourmet snacks, as well, and lasts about 7-8 rounds (cups). If you've never been, but enjoy tea, I'd definitely recommend checking this spot out. It can be a quick 30-45 minute visit, or a more lengthy experience based on your needs. I'd recommend at least a good 45 minutes to not be rushed, however. Service is great, and the shop in front has great gift options for tea lovers. Prices are a little high for some of their teas, but for the basic experience, it can be quite cheap, especially considering the quality. I also think it provides a very unique experience in the San Gabriel Valley that I haven't seen elsewhere. And yes, I've looked for similar places to this and was unsuccessful. Go ahead and give this place a try!

Yelp
Today I will be reviewing my tea tasting experience at Yoshantea. I found this place by simply driving by it. It looked neat so I called to see what it was about (I love all things tea). The tea tasting experience is about 20 bucks A very sweet lady guided us through a tea tasting of a variety of Oolong teas as well as an osmanthus and another tea whose name I forgot (oriental something) She took her time with us and taught us about tea, the region it comes from, the weather the tea grows in, how's its made, it's history, brewing techniques and even ideal material for tea sets like clay etc. She was fun and very engaging. She guided us in finding the notes in the tea and it was just an overall great experience. I'd like to go back with some more friends soon You can also just go and purchase fine teas without the tea tasting experience

Yelp
Say all you want, as a customer, I am entitled to my experiences at this his establishment. Barrage and lengthy rebuffs doesn't make you right, nor how I feel about my experience.

Yelp
This is a review on the tea tasting experience. Right off the bet, even before the tasting started, we were asked by Betty, the SOLE worker in the shop, to ensure we have enough cash for tips. It appears we are the first tea tasting group that morning, though knowing the time of our reservations, there was no setup ready. It felt like Betty was all over the place with setup while trying to cover up her unpreparedness. There was no grace that should normally come with the calmness of tea tasting. When things are finally setup, customers come in and Betty left us unattended for two times at least 10 minutes each. One time was even after mentioning to her we have lunch reservations and need to leave soon. We ended up serving ourselves the tea just so we can finish tasting all the teas before having to leave. It's true that business is hard, but if there is no capacity to serve a tea tasting and walk in customers, maybe management need to review the approach so service is not horrible for both. And the nerve to still want that cash tip after providing extremely subpar service is just shameful. Will not be returning and will not be recommending the tasting nor the tea to anyone.

Yelp
I feel like I understand tea now! My husband has been getting more and more into tea, and I've tried a few here and there, never really getting it. While passing through the area he checked for a tea shop and found this place. It was quiet and serene, but Jennifer and Anne were very friendly, informative, and welcoming. They sat with us to explain the teas we were testing (prior to purchasing them) and we got to experience a lovely tea tasting. It was very calming and they are so knowledgeable. Getting to watch Anne make the teas like she has a doctorate in tea making was incredible. She guided us through multiple brews and really took the time to make sure our tea was perfect. And boy was it. I enthusiastically wanted to buy more tea! I can't wait for my husband to brew us some and maybe do a little mindful tea-drinking on our own. Absolutely can't wait to come back here for the tea tasting services.

Yelp
I had such a wonderful tea time with my mommaaa. This place is legit. I think my mom told me she's been to the location in Taipei. The teas here are def super fragrant and soothing. I think it's on the "pricier" side. The milk tea is $10. (Damnnn better be some secret tea to make us Live forever lolololll jk) but jokes aside, tea was bomb. I purchased some teas home too. The only complaint? Or suggestion I have is that they sell more "dian Shin" like sweets to go with the tea. They literally give you a liter of tea with one cookie lolll. And they make the pastry sound soooo exclusive that you feel bad to ask for more lolll. But it's def an experience! Would come back with a date.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon with a friend and the shop was empty. We didn't need to make reservation. We each got a tea set and a small sweet treat. The ambience was very calm and relaxing. The service was amazing. The owner was so sweet, she checked up on us multiple times, and took her time to explain to us about the tea. Each tea set range around $11-13 for dine in. It's a little pricey but I wouldn't mind going again because it's a great place unwind and catch up with friends.

Yelp
If you are new to the art of making tea or are an experienced tea connoisseur looking for a shop with high quality Taiwanese teas, then this is your place! Whether it was ordering Gong Fu tea with my friend or experiencing a tea tasting with my parents, I have always left the place satisfied. Some teas can taste like honey, fruit, or flowers. But it all depends on the proper preparation. Going to Yoshantea has shown me how to properly prepare the teas, and has allowed me to truly appreciate the complexity of tea flavors. I highly suggested visiting this location on the weekends when Betty is there, as she is so patient, kind and knowledgeable. Her passion for tea shines through when she explains the art of tea preparation to her guests. A well earned 5/5 stars in my book!

Yelp
Little tea House in LA with the most beautiful ambiance... Quaint and very chic shop... Giving shoppers all the tools necessary to understand about their teas and the regions which they're grown in. They have samples for you to try if you are not familiar with the product... Cute little tea sets as gifts or for yourself. Went there at the beginning of the year for a Lunar New Year's gift for my Mom... The lady was so patient in helping me find the perfect tea. It's a bit on the pricey side but all worth it as a gift. So many different options and tea style to sample. After making a selection... They even gift wrap it for you. So adorable .. anyone who is a tea connoisseur... Must visit this quaint tea shop.

Yelp
This place is so beautiful! Love all their tea decor and displays. Came with a friend to check it out and the service from Cindy was amazing! These tea leaves are from Taiwan and are delicious! Cute place to sip tea with friends and chit chat or just do work. Cindy was very patient in teaching us about the different teas and the process of boiling and drinking the tea. Definitely would come back again!

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! I can't believe I'm barely finding out about this place Location: near Santa Anita mall, the parking is in the back, but it's located on a busy street. Interior: very quiet, great place to study, ambience is very relaxing. It was like walking into a spa and you were going to be treated like gods. Comfy seating and marbled tables. Service: the service was nothing short of spectacular. They answered all the questions we had because we didn't know tea was so in depth. They checked on us at the right times and knew exactly what we were looking for. Tea: the tea they served there were high quality and had different preparation times. They gave us each a tray with a little time glass to calculate how much the tea should steep. It was really minimalist and the tea went through 4 steps of steeping. They can explain more when you arrive there and order. The tray comes with instructions too? Fun fact: they have a $3000 little teapot.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! I went with a friend for afternoon tea and it was so peaceful. The tea process was so interesting and our server was incredibly friendly. Would definitely come back and bring my family to try all their teas. They also do tea tastings and classes if you call in advance.

Yelp
Beautiful and sophisticated tea house offering a large selection of loose leaf oolong tea. Took a tea tasting course with Sharon who was incredibly knowledgeable and kind to answer all my questions. The teaware is gorgeous and there's even a little informational section on the history of oolong. Sat inside for a brew your own tea session which comes with a little snack. The menu has their standard teas along with a seasonal rotation of rare and prized teas. The whole experience was exceptional and you can tell the staff is proud of their products and cares a lot about their customers. A great place for tea newbies to tea aficionados! Wish this place was closer - I'd frequent it often! Tip: They don't offer boba but they have quite possibly the BEST milk tea available. The cold heavy roasted dong ding milk tea is incredible!

Yelp
I tried the 720 scented tea oolong osmanthus and it smells like honey and I like the favor very much. Very unique and good experience and my first time trying the scented series and I very much enjoyed it. They also have free wifi. Perfect for business group meetings. I also like the cute hour glass timer. Super cute! You should definitely try it for the experience.

Yelp
If you are a lover of fresh brewed teas, experiencing Yoshantea will elevate your tea palate beyond measure. You don't have to spend $2000 to travel to Taiwan to experience some of the best teas in the world. I first discovered Yoshantea during a trip to Taiwan. Touted as the best Oolong tea that Taiwan offers, I ventured and purchased their famous "Mild Dong Ding Oolong" at a Taoyuan Airport Duty Free Shop. When I returned to the US, I brewed the tea Gongfu style and discovered the best Oolong tea I have tasted in my life so far. The tea had a depth of fragrance, flavor, freshness, and a smoothness that I had not experienced before. I was disappointed I didn't buy more when I was in Taiwan so I was flabbergasted and stoked to find out Yoshantea had just opened a branch in Arcadia, their very first store in the United States. There are a few things that you can do at Yoshantea Tea House. You can shop for and try their premium teas, buy tea to go ($4-5 a cup hot or chilled), or dine-in (about $7-8 per person). If you opt for the dine-in option, they will brew tea and serve it to you using the Gongfu method or you can also learn how to brew it yourself. The tea is served with some snacks. The only caveat is that you can't share one set of tea with two people, so each person needs to order their own tea. This is still pretty affordable compared to the tea shops of this kind I visited in Taiwan and you also get to learn how to brew tea Gongfu style so I highly recommend it. They also have classes for tea tasting and tea roasting that will increase your knowledge about tea. The tea shop itself is immaculately clean and beautifully designed, almost museum-like. You can browse their teas, smell the tea leaves in display jars, and even ask to sample a tea that you are thinking about buying. Their teas are a bit more expensive compared to the typical grocery store brands (ranging from $30 upwards to $300 for 150 grams) but you only need a few grams to brew a personal pot of tea. The price is justified by the quality of their tea leaves and this is reflected by the fact that you can rebrew those same leaves at least 7 times. If the prices of the tea cans are prohibitive, you can still experience their teas from their to-go or dine in menus. A quick and dirty guide if you don't know where to begin: they are famous for their Dong Ding Oolong so you can choose between the fresh, mild, or roasted versions of that tea to start your journey. I recommend you try their "Fresh" editions of tea if you like more floral/fruity flavors in your tea, their "Roasted" editions if you want deeper and bodied flavors, or their "Mild" editions if you want something in the middle. My personal favorites in each category are Fresh Lishan Tea, Roasted Dong Ding Oolong Tea, and Mild Dong Ding Oolong Tea. They also have teas with unique fragrances such as their Oriental Beauty Tea or their Osmanthus Oolong. The staff members are kind, accommodating and have an excellent understanding of tea and the Gongfu method of brewing. I appreciate their honesty and their willingness to help customers like myself find something that suits our palate. I unreservedly recommend that you visit this beautiful teashop to try some of the finest teas that human beings have grown and produced on this planet to date.

Yelp
This place is really nice and they provide great tea. Wen was really helpful and gracious with me with my questions and requests.

Isabella F.

Yelp
Expectations were high and when I left with my friend the experience felt awkward and a bit disappointing. The tea was cold and I felt pressured to leave Betty a tip, while she was looking at the screen. That was funny because a tip should not be expected but left to the client to decide. Betty was nice but felt right under the surface she could be a little snarky. If those things can be changed it would be better.

Yelp
When I discovered Yoshantea online I had no idea I was going to be discovering my next favorite tea spot. I've been purchasing high-end oolong teas from another store for quite some time, and with that other company going out of business, I was nervous about ever finding a replacement shop which shared my sensibilities and a sincere appreciation for tea. Yoshantea is absolutely that store. I had a most insightful tea tasting experience, trying some of their signature teas... which are mind-blowing teas, by the way. I learned more about drinking tea in that hour than I have over the past 10 years or so of pursuing good tea! A shout out to Betty, who led my tasting, and showed me around the store. She was extremely knowledgable and supportive in leading me through how to make good tea at home. While the teas that Yoshantea offers are high-end (primarily oolongs), I personally find their tea quite affordable, especially when you consider how many steeping you get from a small quantity of tea. This company seems to truly care about tea - their respect for every stage of the process is evident - and it shows in their final products. If you like tea, you should try theirs.

Yelp
Extremely boring experience with mediocre teas (maybe would've been good if it was hot). Thought we would taste some teas and decide which ones to buy and had to endure this 45 min painful experience where the tea person could not pick up on very obvious cues that we were extremely bored and one of the guests didn't even understand what she was saying. We felt bad to interrupt her and even gently suggested that we hurry it along at the halfway point and it still went on for another 20+ min. We were lured in by the visuals and thought it would be nice to enjoy some hot teas and get a gift but everything was ice cold by the time we finally got to taste barely two teaspoons of cold tea because we had to endure a long boring lecture on every single one - sure the history may be important for some people but it's not more important than actually drinking the tea IMO. Plus read your audience - not everyone wants an excruciating amount of detail on each tea leaf. On top of all that, we were told the tea tasting cost more than what was advertised on their signage as it 'includes taxes' but the final bill had further taxes on top of that. We decided to get a gift anyways as this was the entire purpose of the visit, and the checkout process took another 15+ min and was extremely disorganized. Then we were told we were given a 'special discount' after it came out to be exactly the same price as advertised on their shelf and the 'gift wrap' was being thrown in for free.... as if their regular shopping bag costs anything. Very tourist trap feeling. I get that you want to do business but don't take your customers as fools. We were very willing to spend money here for a nice gift but felt exhausted and cheated and didn't even want to patronize them but felt we had to given the enormous amount of time invested. Regret subjecting my family to this experience.

Yelp
The service we received here was great. We were able to try some teas before we purchased which was helpful. We were able to experience an actual tea service which was an experience. They have a seating area where you can order tea and socialize or read. The tea they sell is store is gift quality.

Yelp
I have never left a bad review, but this was such a horrible experience, I was not served for 15 minutes. Very awkward aswell with only one worker who was serving another table. This felt like a tourist trap. Over priced tea, which was very mediocre(wish the tea was actually served hot, not lukewarm). I would NEVER come here AGAIN or even RECOMMEND.

Yelp
This is a fantastic tea place if you're ever down to try some tea that's more traditionally made. Though I have to warn you, the technique that's been used to make some more high end tea is highly based on personal taste. Most tea shops that's designed for a younger audience would have their tea made "heavy" and try to flush out every ounce of liquid that the tea leaves has to offer. However, that's not how this place does it. Yoshan tea gently flushes out the tea leaves before the leaves carry out certain more "caffeinated" portion of the tea. This results in a product that has less of a tea taste than one might expect, but that's not the point of their tea. The end product should be something that's more light and you can feel it kinda just running down smoothly down the back of your tongue. You'd be making a mistake if you're just chugging this down trying to get those sugar and tea taste to hit you, because it's not. It's almost as if it has been filtered many times in order to get the silky texture that they're trying to get you to enjoy. Also, these tea is safe for anyone that's scared of the caffeine in the tea. You'll be sleeping fine even if you drink it 12 during the midnight. There's not much sugar added, and I dare say that this is quite a left turn from what people would usually expect from an average milk tea. But it's definitely worth trying if you want to experience how certain higher end tea has been made for many generations before.

Yelp
This place is Amazing the ambiance and the quality of the tea are both great I would highly recommend anybody to come here even if you're not a big tea person, it's an experience.

Yelp
Let me make one thing clear: in the States and in LA, it is very hard to procure high-quality tea leaves. You can get good Japanese tea by ordering online but getting good Chinese [from Mainland] and Taiwanese tea is a whole different story. The establishment here specialize in Taiwanese Oolong tea: Ali Mountain, Li Shan, Da-Yu Ling, Dong Ding etc. Tea Tasting: My friends and I came here today and had a free tea tasting session [we sampled Dong Ding, Ali Mountain, Da-Yu Ling and Jing Shuan tea]. During the course of the session we were fortunate enough to learn about the following from the proprietor/Manager: -The eight steps process tea has to go through before it becomes a product for consumption -The different altitudes of tea and how it bears relevance in terms of the teas' taste. -The types materials used to make teapots [silver, copper, brass, terracotta and purple sand clay] and how the teapot itself will affect the manifestation of the teas' flavor(s). -The types of water used to boil tea [filtered water, bottled water and circulated water] -How to care for one's teapot -How to properly store tea -How to distinguish between good and bad tea. It was a worthwhile cultural learning experience. Service: The Owner/Manager is a very down to earth and soft-spoken lady who takes pride in what she does. Throughout the whole session she comes off as someone who's genuinely trying to spread the culture of tea [as opposed to someone who's trying to make a quick sale]. My friends and I asked her a variety of questions pertaining to tea and she addressed every single question with patience, thoughtfulness and in detail [we were there for three hours]. Tea: The teas here are fragrant in scent, tastes of floral notes and leaves a bittersweet dry finish in the back of the throat afterwards. The tea brew is clear as opposed to being opaque or murky. The tea leaves are whole leaves as opposed to being crumbled and mixed with twigs. All these criteria indicates the teas here are of good, high quality that is hard to come by. If you're a tea enthusiast/connoisseur, you should definitely come here at least once.

Yelp
I came here with my friends on a sunny day and we decided to experience some traditional way of drinking tea. Yoshantea delivers! Here's the quick guide to experience the tea -- To experience the full tea brewing, you will have to sit-in and order the hot version of the tea. The sit-in hot version tea experience will come with a small side pastry. There is the several types of tea you can choose from: Fresh Series - Lighter in taste. I would say it is more "green" Mild Series - More intense in the taste (more bitter I would say) but recommended as the first to try as it can be used as a gauge to see what level of tea strength you like your tea to be Roasted Series - Supposedly the most bitterest as this tea is more as black tea as it is roasted longer Scented Series - This type of tea here is supposedly roasted with flowers like jasmine. However, the floral scent is not as strong as I like it from other tea places. Special Series - The Assam series. This is something I would like to try in the future. It is their tea made with fresh milk. Reminder - this is not a boba place!!!! Overall experience: very interesting --- something that i know my dad likes to do and I might bring him here for the experience. The prices are on the pricier side- expect to pay around $8-$10 for the experience. Free parking in the rear. Plently of street parking.

Yelp
They are so very helpful and patient as I am not a tea expert. They really took their time to explain everything. The place is very welcoming - the tea room is very relaxing. Will be coming back with my sister and try their tea tasting service. Great Place!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised for how authentic this tea room was (I'm a Taiwanese Chinese). After been to countless famous tea shops and places that sells tea drinks in LA, finally I found this little hidden gem where they REALLY knows how to brew tea. I got $10 15g high-end oolong loose leaves (good for three tea pots, and 5 brews each pot) from their 136 year-old tea maker in Taiwan and a detailed tea ceremony demonstration for free. Services: excellent. (Learned so much already for my first visit in here) Tea quality: authentic high end Taiwanese oolong tea. Tea ware: they use a completed set of cute white ceramic tea ware for brewing my $10 oolong tea. (No, it's not like the basic ones in tea stations or ten rens). I also saw some $1380 teapot in display. Prices: affordable. $5 for a cup, $10 for a set of tea. Recommend to just these ppl: 1. If u r a regular in tenren/teastation, and u want a better quality tea (if u r lollipop lovers, not recommended); 2. If u ever tried Jin tea shop, and u wonder how they do the tricks behind their counter bar; 3. If u go to Wing Hop Fung or Teavana to shop tea, and wonder why their prices r so high but, their tea don't have the tastes like the tea u bought last time from Asia; 4. If u have had taste the tea brewing from 20k tea machine in American Tea Room or if u have had the Alfred tea room specialty oolong tea in a pink coffee cup; 5. If u simply just want to learn a proper way to brew tea at home for free. Btw, don't expect too much about their interior decoration for now, but they r going to do a store renovation pretty soon as I been told by the store manager.

Yelp
Such a pleasant surprise to find this in Arcadia! To start off though, this is first and foremost a tea shop, not a typical boba shop. To explain... I did my quick search on yelp for "boba," and stumbled across Yoshantea. When I walked in, to my surprise, there was no booth to order all manner of sugary concoctions, no trendy plastic Ikea tables crowding the room, and no high school or college kids sitting around getting hyped on sugar and chatting. Instead, I saw open space, nice wooden tables set up for traditional tea tastings, and a clean display of tea canisters and sets on the side wall. The owners were very friendly, and explained how the tea is brewed fresh on the spot. Then they proceeded to very carefully triple-brew my tea, and mixed in condensed milk to complement the tea. I ordered it cold (no ice) to go, and it was served in a to-go cup ($4). The taste was also completely contradictory to what I expected. Rather than some 500 calorie cup that leaves me satisfied and stuffed, the crafted drink left me feeling refreshed and hungrier. As a note though, I disagree that it should be served or drunk in a standard size togo cup with a straw. On my first large strawful, there was little taste... mainly because I was expecting a burst of sugar and cream, possibly partly because I asked for the drink cooled, and icing may have diluted the flavor. However, when I realized that I should be slowly sipping the drink, I could taste the delicious quality and care of the brew. In fact, on coming home, I poured it into a suitably sized cup and it was much more enjoyable, though still a little light. Aside from the serving medium, a few other cons would be that the English may be a little harder to understand and some aesthetic refinements are still needed to give off a complete tea room feel. Overall, highly recommend this place for the quality of its tea, especially for enjoying in store or purchasing. Also would love to see this wonderfully unique business grow, and would love to come back for a tasting!
