It was AMAZING! The receptionist at the time that we arrived, Dalia, was incredibly nice and super attentive. She even gave us a bigger room because we were on our honeymoon. She even left us a super sweet note, chocolates and a bottle of apple cider as a courtesy. The room was super spacious, always clean and neat, the bed was super comfortable, as well as the common areas- you could even ask for food to be kept on a fridge if needed. Free coffee available all the time. A lot of working spaces also available.

The loft rooms are so goofy... No fridge, no private toilet. The heated towel rack is lipstick on a pig. Look up a picture of a Norwegian prison cell and you won't be able to tell the difference. Actually they might be nicer. But it's cheap. It's clean. It has everything you need. If you're ok with a hostel vibe, go for it. I'm sure the full size rooms are more normal.

Stayed on a Friday before a Warriors' game. Walked to the Chase Center, though it's a bit of a hike, so recommend taking public transit next time -- the local bus system is called the MUNI, from Market Street. I've stayed once before at a YOTEL (Boston), and the vibe is much the same, once one arrives inside the hotel. The area outside the hotel didn't bother me (as I lived in the City for many years) -- though some may find the street people and homeless denizens disturbing (more so after dark). There is a self-check in/out set of workstations as one enters the lobby (I had to be buzzed in upon arrival, as the outer doors are locked, with signs indicating that there are no public restrooms). I arrived prior to the 3 pm check-in time, but was able to get into an upgraded room (with no uncharge) earlier. The rooms are on the smallish side, with a bed that expands upon the push of a button. Half of the room is comprised of a shower and a toilet and washbasin. There was a conveniently located water station down the hall outside the elevators. I booked online via Booking.com, and received a decent room rate, as compared with other hotel properties in the vicinity. A complimentary breakfast was included, comprised of an assortment of croissants, pastries, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and coffee. Nothing elaborate, but decent, and located on the 2nd floor lounge. I have stayed at other properties in the City, with an eye towards locations that were easily accessible to attending Giants' and Warriors' games. After the Warriors' game, it was a snap to catch the free street tram outside Chase Center. I got off at the Powell St. station, proceeded to walk thru the underground passageway up to Market Street, and the hotel was about a block away. I would definitely consider a return visit to this hotel again.

I wanted to take a moment to commend your front desk manager Delia for their exceptional customer service during my recent stay. Their dedication to resolving the issues I faced with my third-party reservation was impressive. They went above and beyond to ensure that I felt taken care of and that all my concerns were addressed.

Rooms are fine. The smallest rooms lack privacy if you are two people. Location is fine as it is above the BART line, though as other reviews say, conditions outside could be better. That said, conditions all over San Francisco aren’t any better… they have security.

There is a facility fee here of $35 (plus tax) PER NIGHT that I was unaware of until I went through the check in process upon arrival. I booked directly through Yotel. On my booking confirmation email, the fee was listed as $0 as shown in my images. That was probably the most frustrating part. The second most frustrating part was the check in machines were not reading my credit card so I had 3 pending charges on my card while trying to check in. Fearing more pending charges and any fear of my credit card being locked or marked for fraud, I walked over to the employee sitting nearby to manually check me in. Let me start from the top. I originally booked with Yotel because I was curious of its setup, the young community vibes, and the relative affordability. If you want a grasp of the room space, think of this as a midpoint between a hostel and a hotel. You get the privacy of a hotel room but compacted to something a bit bigger than a hostel. I chose the Premium Queen Room because the Solo Room and Sky Room looked too compact and I didn’t want to have to climb stairs to get into a bed. The Premium Queen Room has a queen bed that can be sat up to increase walkway space or flat for bedtime. The general feel of the room is premium enough. There’s a towel warmer rack, decent skincare products, and a decent sized shower. A lot of people mentioned feeling odd to have the bathroom so close to the bed but I didn’t mind it too much, as long as you don’t have a sensitive nose or have strong smells from that side. There are restrooms in the shared spaces by the lobby if you’d rather use those too. The room itself was very smart and well thought out. The sound insulation is tolerable, I could hear people in the hallway and possibly louder voices between the walls but otherwise, it was fine. The lobby space downstairs is pretty nice, lots of available charging cables too and even private sound booths for those who want complete silence to focus on work. Breakfast is served in the common room area with more workspaces. There’s some fruit, yogurt, and croissants. The croissants are a bit hard, but not too bad and filling. There is complimentary coffee and hot water all day from a machine there too. The gym area is sufficiently equipped, lots of towels too, and an extra restroom. Next time, I’ll take note of the facility fee, it’s a shame because it was almost on par with booking at a regular hotel once that cost was factored in.

Had a great experience at the hotel. My call out is for Dalia. She went over and beyond to help me and a colleague who was having tech issue get our documents back on track. |The location was perfect for the needs we had. The parking garage was a block or so away but was very reasonable for being downtown. We will definitely be back.

So let me start by telling your our concierge help at Mission Control (1st floor) was Regina on our 1st day at check in. She was absolutely amazing with her speed of service, friendly smile & great conversation. She made sure our 1st day there we had what we needed at the hotel. All of the staff excelled at what they do, but she took the cake. The establishment was professional in their approach, rooms were always replenished & we never not had what we need. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was before the room we were in there was not a door for privacy in the restroom like a normal hotel & breakfast wasn’t a full breakfast. Outside of that there are no compla For me. They do great at keeping the homeless away with security.

Yelp
I'm in love with this brand now. There are a handful of draw backs that hold me from giving 5 stars. 1 being the ability for door dash or uber eats to come to your room. 2 being lack lack of breakfast options as well as the one coffee maker. 3 being the no pool. Other than that the hotel is extremely safe and very social media friendly. From the elevators to the gorgeous staircase and nice hallways. The rooms are perfect. I had the Queen room which was perfect for me. I'm 6'1 195 and had only a carry on hut had plenty of space for the 4 days I was in town. The staff was very friendly and always visible in the lobby Would definitely stay here again when I come back. Plus it doesn't hurt that the BART station is right across the street. So easy trip from airport

Yelp
Horrible service. I called the hotel prior to check in after booking from a third party and asked if i would be penalized if i didnt end up going. The front desk customer service said no and that if i saw anything it was a security deposit and it would be refunded. I later see the charge on my statement. I call Yotel and got different excuses each time. They asked me to reach out tho their manager Danica Gonzalez through email which i did multiple times and never heard back from her. I then called my bank and booking.com for them to say that the reason i was charged is a no charge fee and they don't reverse those. I was misinformed and everyone is not on the same page. I would not do business with either ever again. I also submitted this review with the BBB.

Yelp
Ok so I found this hotel on hotel.com . NO PARKING AND YOU WILL HAVE TO WALK THREW 40 homeless people to get there . I stepped in a huge pile of poo right outside. The view was nice the lobby is nice but inside the room it was kind of gross there was still hair in the shower and I was staying here with my one year old and there was a nail on the floor as soon as we arrived . I don't recommend this place at all I never leave reviews but this place is not great at all and not worth the price !!! AND DONT GO IF YOU ARE CLAUSTROPHOBIC ROOMS ARE SO SMALL

Yelp
We had a great two nights at the Yotel. It is pretty high tech for this 54 year old (screens, lights, etc)! I couldn't get the lights on because they were on sensor - pretty cool but I had to use my flashlight until I figured it out - lol. I loved the purple mood lighting and the "water" view from our room. We had the "suite" room 826 and I recommend it for the price. Breakfast consisted of something typical of an office break room; coffee, tea, cereal and croissants. But who doesn't love free coffee in the morning!!! There's no parking or valet or a restaurant or room service. But it was centrally located and there were bikes on site to rent. We came during the all star game weekend, I've never seen so many police so it was quite nice walking to the trolly, shops, etc. The staircase was absolutely beautiful. Last thing, the pullout couch mattress is as bad as every other pullout couch - but the bed was super comfy. Staff was super friendly, too. Thank you, Yotel for the free coffee!

Yelp
Just a heads up, this review's all about their baggage storage services only. So, I had this 12-hour layover in San Francisco, flying in from Tokyo. Now, coming from Japan where it's safe, easy, and relatively cheap, I was a bit surprised by San Fran's airport prices for storage. Found Bounce, a third party to coordinate luggage storage at this hotel. We chose this location cause we thought it's near the touristy area just one subway away and open 24/7 for bag pick-up. The hotel looked pretty slick inside, and the staff were cool--no issues with the service. Paid $22.65 USD including taxes to stash three bags. They wouldn't take storage services directly, they only take payment through the Bounce service. Gotta admit, dropping my bags off during the day made me feel kinda on edge. The spot's right on the border of a rough area (Tenderloin). Somewhere I didn't want to wander around by foot day or night. The hotel is locked up tight, you need someone to buzz you in, but even the nearby Whole Foods had to close shop. We debated whether to use Uber back to the airport at night, even though the subway's right beside, 'cause we are worried about being a target with our luggage. Since we already preloaded our SF transit card, we went for it. When we hit the subway platform, there was security around which helped ease our nerves a bit. But it's kinda sad, you know? Seeing people flouting the rules, hopping over turnstiles, and all that. Shows a lack of order in that part of town. Left me feeling a bit down, considering the need for better safety and rules in the area.

Yelp
I went to a pride event here and the place was super cool. The rooms were nice and the place had a really cool retro vibe with a modern touch. The staff were all super friendly that I met and I think I will recommend it in the future to visiting friends.

David L.

Yelp
This is really more of a one night crash pad than a hotel. The rooms are very basic - more like pods than rooms. There's an open bathroom area, TV and a bed and that's about it. No closet no chair. The included breakfast burritos - which are the only thing you can get for breakfast - were pretty good But there's no lobby, coffee shop or restaurant. With all the taxes and fees the rate is a good deal higher than what you see on the booking sites

Paulina N.

Yelp
This is a pretty cute hotel but just in a sketchy area. We got the sky cabin which had the bathroom on the bottom and the bed up the stairs. I thought it was very strange that the toilet was out in the open, with no door. I had to tell my boyfriend to leave the room when I needed to go number two lmao. Also the ceiling over the bed was very low that I hit my head getting into bed, but both the bed and pillows were very comfy. Yotel doesn't have their own parking structure but they suggest us parking at the structure a block down. They charge $35 overnight and I don't think you are able to move your car in and out without paying more. You just gotta be careful while you walk pass all the homeless drug dealers on the way to the hotel.. eek!

Felipe M.

Yelp
The Yotel in San Francisco is an alternative to tradition hotels. It is definitely a smaller space than a typical hotel or motel. I stayed in the second tier "Sky Room", but I must say I was expecting some more space. You check in on the first floor at Mission Control, which functions as their front desk. Additional amenities are the free coffee and microwave on the second floor and gym in the basement. There is a community refrigerator in the second floor kitchen are that can be accessed by talking to Mission Control. The gym is nice. My biggest surprise was how small the rooms are. There is no refrigerator or microwave in the rooms, though you can leave your food in a small community fridge in the second floor (I didn't try it). While it well for one person, I don't think it's functional for two. They don't have doors on the bathrooms so you should note additional bathrooms are on the second floor. The atmosphere is cleaned and seems renovated. Staff was friendly and attentive. This place works great if you're on a budget and traveling by yourself, otherwise it may be worth staying somewhere with more space.

Yelp
I was really pleased with my stay at Yotel SF! I've heard of this hotel company before and it seemed like the most affordable option for our trip so me & my partner decided to check it out! I was originally going to book the solo room for me & my partner but Alex Wink actually upgraded us to a premium queen so very thankful for that! The room was clean and had everything we needed. Very futuristic feel. Loved having water on every floor to keep hydrated as well. And the coffee & tea in the lounge was a huge plus! We didn't get a chance to use the gym but this hotel had everything we needed so we would definitely come back! The area around is a bit sketchy but I feel like that comes with visiting any big city.

Yelp
To give my full honest review, without judging the location. Yotel is a beautifully styled hotel, very clean and well secured. Before I booked through booking.com the staff ( hotel hostess) was very friendly and she was very attentive to any questions I had. This stay is very unique since most are small loft styled rooms. The room Itself is what you see advertised. Beds comfy, good shower, TV, AC and other accommodations. They have a lounge with vending machine and a chill room. And small office waiting area. I want to thank the hostess for also upgrading my room, I had gotten something much simpler but she was very nice and wanted to make sure I got moneys worth. Price is decent, in the middle. They do have deposit fee and cleaning fee so it might add up towards end. 2nd day cleaning service did very good in tightening up the room. Refilled anything I needed. Overall recommend the hotel if you're just planing to stay in a beautiful comfy place. The area is what hurts the place. Area of tenderloin isn't all too pleasing, very sketch and Sad. Lots of police around but gotta be cautious and aware of your surroundings once you step foot out the building ...

Kj V.

Yelp
The hotel itself is pretty decent , modern, clean, cute inside for it's price but the environment is sketchy & not safe especially if you're visiting the city. It's really not safe at all. The hotel doesn't even have a parking, you can park few blocks away ( Trinity Garage $25-$35/night) & walk back to the hotel along the federal assistance of the homeless people , so you'll walk back to the hotel in the middle of more than 100 homeless people, doing all the crazy stuff ( cracks ,drugs etc etc). It's not safe and it's really scary at all. Not to mention the noise every night, sirens , boom box cars, or people sounds like partying outside. BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Carlo D.

Yelp
Yo! Hear ye! Hear ye! The area that this hotel is at is NOT for the faint of heart (Tenderloin area in San Fransisco is filled with a lot of homeless, high, drug dealers, bangers, etc). The Yotel makes a bold statement with its beautiful decor and upscale appearance (inside and out). The rooms are filled with a techie vibe (boomers beware, if you have to ask what that is, your probably one...but, we still love you). The rooms are INTIMATE (No! I don't mean that in a sexual way. I mean you better be okay with sharing the bathroom with whomever you bring (if your NOT close before this trip, you will be or you won't). The LOUNGE in the Yotel was SMOOTHE. Self serve coffee and tea (mmmmm, hot and tasty). Including mood lighting and chill chairs. The lounge transported you to another world (trust me, you want to know your not in the tenderloin area). Besides all that, the security was AWESOME (can't go on any other floor, other than general locations and your assigned room (nice touch). I recommend it because the price let's you spend the extra money on the fun things in life, yeah! I'm talking about the Lyft (no! Not a sponser plug) you'll need to and from your fun spots. Drop you luggage. Put your bed in its most upright position (yes! The bed does that) and move on to the next adventure.

Lalita M.

Yelp
a lengthy review so bear with me lol on the inside, this place is VERY cool. you check yourself in via the kiosks but there is a clerk there just in case you need something! I originally had the sky (?) room, which is TINY (less than 100 sq ft) but it's lofted and fun for a solo traveler with a little whimsy, lol. the bed is at the top of the loft, with a tv at the very foot of the bed. long story short, the tv WOULD NOT turn off and I had to switch rooms at around 10 PM. not ideal but the lobby clerk was super nice and upgraded me without me asking. Wish I had her name (she was blonde, shorter hair?) Bed was comfy, sheets were clean, water pressure was GOOD. This place is 3/5 strictly due to the area - not the best part of town but keep your head down, walk with purpose and you'll be fine. i'm a solo female traveler and I've felt more unsafe in my hometown, which is SIGNIFICANTLY more suburban. this place does the trick, for a great price point, and 2 secs away from a BART station. will absolutely be staying again

Irene C.

Yelp
Anytime we visit my Partner's hometown we take a weekend trip to the city. In our most recent stay we ended up at the Yotel for NYE weekend. At a little over $100 per night via Snap travel (booked 3 weeks in advance). Keep in mind that upon arriving they will inform you of additional fees of $25 per night for hotel services and $30 per night hold for incidentals. Also, this does not include parking but no hotel in S.F. Includes parking. We ended up paying $30 per night parked at the structure recommended by the "yotel"which was a 10 minute walk away. Still a good price overall for the city and the time of year. The "yotel" itself was modern, newly constructed and clean. The room is small but they are fully transparent about that upon booking. I'm 5'9" and my partner is 5'2" we both bumped ourselves in the close quarters a few times during our stay. I could see it not being a fit for older people who might slip and fall on the stairs. I personally banged my tailbone on a midnight trip to the bathroom. Speaking of bathroom there is no door which could be problematic if your traveling with someone. We used the communal 2nd floor bathroom to keep our sleeping quarters odor free. There's also a kitchen/ lounge area you can use to eat and stretch out and free complimentary coffee machine. Gym is also in the same floor but we didn't make use of it. Location: It's located on 7th and Market there are quite a bit of homeless in the area. Seems like there's a big encampment or hangout spot across from the parking structure they suggest. Anyway, we were sketched out walking to and from our parking garage. You have to be vigilant, avoid eye contact and watch out for human feces. During the day it's not so bad at night it's sketchier. But that's city life IMO. If you can afford it, it's Best to Uber or Lyft to your destination. Also there's a Whole Foods coming soon which may impact things. The vibe inside of the hotel: Young friendly staff, guests we encountered were all clean and respectful. Didn't hear much of noise through the walls and the yotel didn't smell of weed or cigarettes Final thought: I would stay here again but I would pack even lighter and Uber/Lyft more.

Yelp
this is a scam of a hotel. its in the middle of tenderloin's worse spot. i felt i needed to literally run to my uber once was outside. the rooms are c l a u s t r o p h o b i c! small. when i opened thw window it was a waaaall! no window. over expensive for absolutely nothing in return. the staff is rude and apathetic just like robots. do not stay here. worst experience ever. extra charges for everything and the parking lot is miles away. do not stay here

LaLo MaLo -.

Yelp
The only bad experience was with their front desk agent named Michael (Asian guy). He refused to give credit on my final balance, I was asking to do so due the hotel forgot to give me vouchers for breakfast. This person was rude and with an attitude of not trying to solve this omission by the hotel in a positive way. Other than this the hotel should have a 4 start review but due to this bad experience at checkout I will leave a 2 start. Update: Alex follow up this matter and solve it in a positive way, thank you for taking care of it.

Bryan L.

Yelp
I don't know where to start with this review but I suppose I'll address the other reviews that complain about the absolute dire and abject poverty on display right outside the doors. This hotel and many others like it are objectively responsible for the situation on the streets outside it's doors. A building that could have likely been housing to hundreds of people has been repurposed into an extremely mediocre hotel with no amenities staffed with people who are likely underpaid. Aside from tap water and a gym this hotel didn't provide anything I'd expect from even a roadside motel. The rooms resembled photos and descriptions of Norwegian prisons focused on rehabilitation and compassion. Perfectly reasonable for a carceral facility but not necessarily what I'd consider an ideal vacation getaway. There were no windows. This all being said, none of my complaints about this stay relate to the extreme homeless situation outside the doors other than the fact that I know for sure that boring terrible hotels like this are the cause. The staff was fine and competent. They're doing the best they can with the resources they have. The owner of this "hotel" should feel terrible and hopefully have difficulty sleeping at night knowing how much they've destroyed what could be a wonderful city.

Marc S.

Yelp
NEVER BOOK HERE!!! If I could give ZERO stars I would. Let's start with the positives. There are none. Check-in was standing in line for a single attendant and was open for every other guest to see and overhear your booking details. Not good. After trying to check-in to a pre-paid room, hotel demanded hundreds more dollars as a "resort fee", which they explained includes the amenities and free breakfast offered. So their breakfast isn't free, it's charged to you, but isn't disclosed until after arrival and during check-in. Every guest in front of me was also caught unawares of this "fee" and every single one balked, but paid. I refused. They would not check me in without this payment, so I went to another hotel. YOTEL then refused to issue a refund for a room that was never issued. Absolute scam. NEVER STAY HERE.

Ray A.

Yelp
This is a renovated hostel, basically. The rooms are teeny - if you're normal sized or above, be prepared to duck and squirm your way through your room. I see people call this area the French quarter and that couldn't be further from the truth. This is spill out from the tenderloin onto Market street. Nevertheless, I would actually give it closer to three stars in that it's cheaper than most places and relatively clean, at least in my experience. I highly suggest utilizing the 2nd floor lounge as it has complimentary coffee and isolated rooms for phone calls, a microwave, and some couches. Also, my room had neither a closet nor a dresser for clothes, so be prepared to live out of your luggage. Like a said, it's a glorified hostel.

Mark W.

Yelp
This place is an attempt to charge big money for an 8x10, mattress-on-floor experience. The windows were glued shut. Nice staff, but with homeless defecation outside this is a poor concept in a bad area. Avoid.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Yotel Postivies: Great for solo trip. Built for remote work, they have a cool little area where you can work on your laptop or iPad. The rooms are small but feel very Modern/futuristic. The staff was friendly. Negative: I would not recommend walking alone at night. It's night and day at Yotel. Probably saw a few drug deals outside my window. Rooms are not built for couples, espically if you are getting to know somebody. The bathrooms have no privacy, So no number 2 in your room unless you want the whole room to smell. If you bring a person you are dating or started dating, I would recommend going to the second floor to go number 2. Overall the stay was okay.

Steve B.

Yelp
Very bad area, building is secure so much I couldn't get in to check into my room. Ended up canceling my fully refundable reservation without issue but had to contact customer service. Found a safer place several blocks away. Lots of garbage and debris and open drug use. So sad to witness this right across from the Federal Building.

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Currently staying at this hotel and I don't know what I did to end up in the worst room possible. I'm here on a business trip. The toilet is RIGHT next to the entrance-- no door or anything. The bed is just a mattress laying on a makeshift loft that I cannot even stand in. I pooped before going to bed and the smell is lingering up here, it's so gross how close I am to the toilet without a barrier. They also charge an amenity fee that is purposely hidden: very shady move and I don't use their gym. For the price I paid, I should've just gone to the downtown Marriott, but I didn't want to accidentally run into my boss. The interior(outside of the room) is stunning. I love it all. The Mission Control team is friendly as well. I understand what the room designers were aiming to achieve, but there was no communication or transparency through this process. I will probably cancel my last night here.

Yelp
YOTEL is a new hip world-wide hotel chain; this is the first location in San Francisco and second in the USA. Check in and check out are easy and can be done with the attendant or at a self-serve kiosk in the lobby. The lobby is modern with lots of oversized seating. There's a staircase to the mezzanine, which has a cafe. In the morning a local vendor brings a pastry and coffee cart. The concept is simple: it's a converted high-ceiling office building. The high space is utilized with a lofted bed in each room. The layout of a typical room is the toilet, shower, and sink right inside the door. Along the large window is a desk and plenty of space to put luggage. A staircase snakes up from here to the lofted bed, which is above the door. This area has a mattress on the floor, plenty of nightstand space along the headboard, lamps, and a TV at the foot of the bed. Is the room cramped, yes. Is it uncomfortable, no. If you understand this, you'll have a pleasant stay. It kind of felt like staying in a cruise ship room; you're basically here to sleep anyway. Amenities included an easy-to-use safe, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, big new fluffy towels, hygiene products like lotion, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner (all liquid, no waxy bars here). A purified water/ice machine is on each floor at the elevators. In the future, they'll have a rooftop bar, but this wasn't completed during my stay. Positives: it's very quiet here in the room. The bed nook is cozy and I slept very well every night. Inside it was safe and secure. It's kept very clean and still very new at the time of this writing. Just a few blocks in every direction you can get to amazing things with Union Square and all the touristy areas just one trolley stop away (station right outside the hotel). The other direction is Haight Street. The F Train goes to the embarcadero and wharves for just a few bucks. A BART stop is also right outside. Negatives: the neighborhood is the worst in the city. This is not an overstatement. Drugs and homeless are everywhere outside the hotel. The staff does a good job keeping people away, but it's not safe for single people, and families with children after dark. My recommendation is if you're staying here and feel unsafe, take a ride-share back right to the door. $10 is nothing compared to feeling unsafe or getting hurt. If you understand this, I'd say it's a great central location for the price.

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely amazing, the interior is stunning there's locked front doors only operated by your room key and there's security. it would be a 5 star but (not the hotels fault) it's in a reallly sketchy part and there's no onsite parking you'll have to Carry or wheel your luggage from whichever parking garage that you choose through this sketchy block but again once you hit those doors you feel comfortable and safe, plus you can't beat the location almost everything you'd be looking for is within walking distance. Despite windows overlooking the streets it's pretty sound proof (can't hear the traffic)

Yelp
Positives: Good rate, clean room, friendly staff, felt safe inside the hotel, nice common areas for those that need work space, crisp linens, awesome shower, close to BART and Muni. Negatives: Area is sketchy (especially at night), lots of houseless people across the street can get noisy, streets are littered, human feces on sidewalks outside hotel, outside hotel smells like urine, chromecast streaming device was broken. Not sure what the answer is to the homeless problem in San Francisco, but something more needs to be done to help these people. It's sad to see what once was a beautiful city in this condition.

Yelp
The inside of the hotel was swanky but the street it was on was real skanky. Would probably stay here again if there was no fee for the "free" coffee and "included" WiFi.

Yelp
I stayed at the Yotel earlier this month for a conference. There are many positives to the hotel: 1. The hotel is brand new. It felt very modern and clean. 2. The automated check-in/check-out process is pretty neat. You get to make your own key for your room. 3. The staff were extremely friendly every time I entered and left. I even got text messages before I arrived asking if I needed anything for my stay and text messages while I was there asking if there was anything they could do to improve my stay. However, on the less positive side: 1. The area is a little sketchy at night. One night, one of my Uber drivers even remarked something along the lines of "Are you sure you want to get out here?". 2. My room was insanely small. I knew it would be small from the pictures on the hotel webpage, but it felt even smaller once you were in the room. However, to be fair, I purchased the Sky cabin and there are bigger rooms available at a higher price. So you get what you pay for. I can't see myself staying here again unless I purchase one of the larger rooms. However, if you just want a cheap room that isn't too far of a walk to the Moscone Center, this could work for you if you don't mind a very small room.

Yelp
Security was super nice, letting us in and out before we had to even pull out our key card. He also gave us some common tips for staying in the area. There's no parking at the hotel, so we were referred to parking at the Trinity Garage. It's not a far walk, but of course, there's lots of homeless people in the area. Rooms are cramped, but they're called "cabins", which is an accurate description. Super modern and clean, but the purple LED lights def. gave it love hotel vibes. We booked a room with a queen sofa bed and a top bunk. Most comfortable sofa bed I've ever slept on! My bf begs to differ, but I personally slept like a baby, especially with their crisp, clean sheets and comforter. In our room, there's a curtain separating the bathroom area. Biggest issue with that was that the curtain wasn't solid, so we could still easily see each other through the curtain. The toilet and shower are stalls, so there's zero privacy with your guests if you have to go potty. There is a bathroom in the lobby area somewhere, so my bf opted to use that one, because yes, it's embarrassing. Got lost trying to relocate to door to the elevator on our floor, but there was a man cleaning the carpet in the hall who noticed we were lost and did not hesitate to guide us. Everyone here was so pleasant!

Yelp
This place was great! The staff were always very helpful and everything is very well thought out. The internet isn't fast but blazing fast as advertised! They have ice and water machines on every floor which is very convenient. The beds are super comfortable with big thick sheets and duvet comforter. The mood lighting is pretty neat also each room has its own dedicated air conditioning system which I liked and is rare to find in San Francisco. The showers are also super nice.. would definitely book again Thanks Yotel -John D

Yelp
WARNING: if you are driving during your stay, consider another hotel. I was traveling with a co-worker so I decided to book us a hotel in the city. Thank god I wasn't alone! If you are just visiting SF, driving can be so confusing, there are a lot of rules and "one way" streets. Market street happens to be extra confusing, and the GPS kept directing me to the opposite side of the road when I was trying to reach Yotel. After 6 re-routes, we finally got to the front of the hotel. We waited a beat for valet but no one came. We called customer service, and I am pretty sure we were not speaking to someone that was actually in this particular hotel. We could barely hear her, but eventually she said there is no valet or parking structure, but there is a parking lot about a block away that most guests use. The parking lot is open air and when we got there we saw a homeless man harassing a woman and her child. It was 10pm and we had luggage, market street at night is SCARY. There were a ton of homeless people and they all seemed to be on some very powerful drugs. This didn't feel safe at all. We made it to the hotel but I was pretty annoyed about the whole parking (or lack there of) situation. Aside from that, the hotel is awesome. I am a low maintenance traveler who does not need a lot of space. The sky cabin with the loft bed was perfect for me on my own, and I think even if my boyfriend came along it would have been fine space-wise. The loft bed filled a lot of child and adult dreams of mine of having a bunk bed or loft bed, I loved the space. It is so modern and original! I will definitely try another Yotel, maybe Boston or NY, however, unless I am Ubering I will NOT be staying at the one in SF again!

Yelp
Okay so this hotel is super cute and modern but when people review it and tell you it's small I mean it's REAL SMALL. We got a cabin with a queen bed and an overhead bunk for three of us. Did we have enough place to sleep? Absolutely. Did we have enough place to do anything else? Definitely not. The bed is electric and can fold in and out which made things slightly easier but overall I would definitely not recommend this hotel for more than 2 people. Could 100% see it as a cute romantic room but not a good room for 3 people trying to hang out. Also, there is absolutely no privacy. The toilet doesn't even have a door. The positives: the shower is a good size and has that rain effect that makes it amazing. Also all the shampoo/soap products in the shower seemed of good quality. The tv is huge and you can connect your phone to it via chromecast quite easily. The purple lighting and modern decor is super cute. The bathroom has a towel warmer! The negatives: There is no parking at all which sucks. The hotel is located in the middle of the tenderloin so parking your car elsewhere and walking can be quite scary. As mentioned above, the place is too tiny to do anything and the bathroom has no privacy. Also weird fun fact - because there is no toilet door in the bathroom my friends and I decided to use the lobby bathrooms. Weirdest thing ever- the lobby bathrooms are completely dark with one dim light! I literally went in and thought the automatic light sensor wasn't working but no it's actually just super dark in there. Mood poop lighting or something.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible and charged two separate fees totaling almost $500 for a room that is 9' by '5 no lie. I think this room is reserved for all locals because of the drug problem here but I'm not one of them.

Yelp
Just left this morning after a 2 day stay. It was my first time visiting this hotel and glad to say I will return. Check in is an absolute breeze. No paperwork, no fuss, it's all self automated. Interaction with staff was very limited but that in itself was pretty cool. I would rather have that then have to deal with a employee who might have a grouchy attitude. There are employess there though and at the end of my visit this morning, the gentleman in the lobby was very helpful in keeping my luggage safe and locked away while I enjoyed breakfast a few blocks down before coming back and departing. The room I was in was not the one I reserved but that was not an issue. The room was a bit on the small side but again, not an issue. The hallways are clean and modern, the roof top view is awesome at night. And like most of the reviews on here I will say this, yes, there is a heavy traffic of homeless, drugs and other oddities. Yes you will need to be aware of your surroundings. Remember: you're in San Francisco, not a small town in Iowa with a population of 500. Don't let that deter you from this cool hotel. There's no breakfast options but there is good free coffee in the lounge, and a few vending machines. There is lots of diners and great places to eat around there. Thanks Yotel for a first time experience!

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! When we arrived, Michael greeted us and was so kind. He helped us get checked in and upgraded our room since we are eloping at the City Hall. From our room we had a beautiful view of city hall. The room was very clean and they have large shampoo and soap bottles in the rooms. We always felt safe in the hotel and Yotel does their best to make sure guests feel safe. There is always one security guard and doors are locked unless you have a key to get in. Yotel did have homeless people outside but they never bothered us.

Yelp
Unfortunately, due to location and parking I can only give 3 stars. The hotel it self is very nice! Modern. Great security features and nice and friendly staff. The room was clean and very nice but on the smaller side. The streets surrounding the hotel are filled with homeless people sleeping and doing drugs along the side walks. The side walks reeked of urine. The parking garage was a bit of a walk and expensive. $35 for the night. It's a nice place, unfortunate location. It felt unsafe as I had three children with me. Other than that, we had a nice stay.

Yelp
My husband and I are in our 40s... this was our first trip to San Francisco and we love to walk and explore when we head anywhere for the first time. We stayed 4 nights, 5 days and wanted somewhere central where we could walk to everything.. comments on the area caused us concern, but it didn't dissuade us... which I'm glad for! This hotel is young, fresh and hip with amazing staff, always attentive and there to help... we stayed in the premium queen room and it was a tight squeeze (my husband is 6'6 so fitting him anywhere can be challenging haha)... the rooms are very clean with staff cleaning it daily. We didn't mind the tight space, as we were off exploring all day and just wanted a nice clean space to sleep... the towel warmers were awesome as well as the chrome cast (after exploring, laying in bed watching Netflix was awesome!). I typically don't use hotel shampoos and conditioners as I find them drying, but I really liked these ones! I shouldn't of packed my own! This hotel is modern and funky. I've read a lot of comments about the homeless and how the area is horrible. This hotel seems to be right at the border of where it gets 'undesirable' ... yes, there are a lot of them, but during the day u don't see them as much... it's no worse than our stays in the bustle of New York... they seem to gather at the cvs across the street at night, but really don't bother u. Our window faced the cvs, so it provides some entertainment, watching them from our window late at night. Haha. There doesn't seem to be too much more here than anywhere else in downtown San Francisco. It's worse down the block. Just be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine. The hotel is perfectly situated for those that are walkers... we walked to Fisherman's wharf, union square, the financial district, the Golden Gate Bridge, palace of the arts, city hall, Lafayette park, and probably other places I've forgotten. Keep in mind, we are walkers. There's also tons of transportation around, just steps from the bart and buses as well. And of course, the famous trolly's. Absolutely loved our stay and would def stay here again! Took one star off just cause of the size of room, and the lack of privacy with the washroom.. there is a glass door u can shut (it's open over the shower tho so u can hear and smell things haha).. it was really nothing we couldn't deal with and our overall experience was wonderful! Oh and the coffee is delish! It's free and amazing! I loved walking down to the 2nd floor for my morning cup!

Yelp
I got one of the small rooms. Really that's all the space I needed, because I was there for a conference and could use the common lounge if I was hanging around in the evening. I did hit my head when I forgot that I was in a loft, part of the ceiling was padded at least. The lighting was weird. Took me a long time to realize that the light switch for the lights around the mirror was actually *IN* the mirror. And the second night, the lights couldn't be turned off. Turned out that you had to double-click the rocker! (Which I don't think I did the first night.) But it was quiet and service was reasonable. And I think they want to deal with some of the problems with the new space, so I would go back.

Yelp
Big kudos to Michael down in Mission control for taking care of me during my I stay. I was in town during a busy convention in the city when most hotels were fully booked. I initially booked a different hotel but my experience was so bad that I couldn't stay another night there. I walked into the Yotel without a reservation and Michael went above and beyond to accommodate me and find me a room. I was really impression by his customer service and professionalism. The Yotel is now my go-to when in San Francisco. Hip modern building with all the amenities you need and amazing staff.

Yelp
honestly was hesitant to book my room here because of the few bad reviews, but I am so glad I did!! this was my first solo trip traveling alone to SF and YOTEL made everything so easy and Iris at the front desk was amazing help!!!! Yes- there are a lot of homeless in the surrounding area. You're in San Francisco. You'll have your occasional unpleasant run in with one, but honestly I came in expecting it. Anyone visiting SF should expect that. You just gotta learn to ignore it. There's a bus stop right across the street which made transit super easy to where I wanted to be; (Haight, Hayes etc.) Don't really recommend going out at night alone especially if you're a woman. Just always have protection and or someone with you. Overall a great stay and would def book again.

Yelp
If you like $35 (resort fee- LV) breakfast burritos, and sirens in homies on half shell!!! Cheers

Yelp
Hotel was very nice on the inside for the price. But there are a number of reasons I recommend staying elsewhere. Firstly, I paid extra for a room with a view, and my "view" was the side of an apartment building. But most of all, I recommend staying elsewhere due to the neighborhood. The neighborhood was not very friendly and there was an overwhelming amount of homeless and trash everywhere. If price is your concern, this hotel is perfect for you. But if you like to walk around immediately outside where you stay, book somewhere else.

Melissa R.

Yelp
We booked a week stay and when we pulled up we. Oils t even get out of the car. The area is very unsafe, littered with trash, homeless people and people using drugs. It was so bad it was jarring to us. We called an canceled before even getting out of the car

Yelp
Stayed here last night late check in Staff nice I saw the hotel advertised on booking.com & called the front desk. They charged me more than the booking.com site & didn't even have to pay any commission. 10$ difference & Wouldn't honor the pricematch So I hope that everybody who reads this books their reservation with booking.cOm &/or Expedia so greedy management can suck an egg. Customer Service is important By the way I'm a GM of a hotel here in San Francisco & rated a lot higher than the 8.1 the No-tell YOTEL has Won't be back

Yelp
I have been staying at pod and tiny home style hotels while traveling alone. I find small spaces make me miss my husband a little less. Yotel, however, was a bit disappointing. I stayed in one of the City cabin rooms and the toilet was right at the front door - no walls, just a toilet. My friend said "I didn't know you were staying in a jail cell". The whole first floor was bathroom. I loved the bed loft, it was cozy and comfy. I liked the tech. I hated the fact that I was on a very low floor and was woken up twice by people on the street blasting a boom box at 1 AM and 2 AM. I also got to witness numerous drug deals outside my window. OH yes --- and one must remember to close the shades or all of SF will see you shower. The Pride unicorn in the lobby was a nice touch though - LOVE the unicorn!

Yelp
What an amazing experience! We should of booked here before the absolute hell we stayed in . We have stayed at the Yotel in Manhattan! I absolutely, will say that this hotel is clean and has staff who cares about you. Please book at this amazing hotel.

Yelp
Not the worst rooms. I little tight, but I had the premium. I did find a few strands of hair on my bed upon arrival, but sometimes thing like that happen in a budget hotel situation. The worst part is that I found the room to be really loud. Noise from next door came through some vent above the shower. I could hear their conversations, make out what they were watching on tv, and hear when they showered. I talked with the staff about it but nothing was done. I talked to the front desk manager at checkout and he said he'd talk with the building engineer, but that no one had ever complained about it before. I felt like I was owed some sort of compensation for not being able to sleep through the noise, but no luck there. Oh and they had multiple websites blocked on their wifi (not xxx ones) that made it difficult for me to get work done. I won't be staying here again.
