Young Hickory North Park

I have been here a few times. The service for food is slow, but this isn't a place you would go to if you were starving anyways. It has plenty of seats and a ton of natural light. There's a pretty even mix of people studying/working and chatting/drinking beer. So, it is a bit noisy. A sandwich costs $10 (with tax). But, we are in SoCal, so what can you expect?! Overall, I would highly recommend.

The blended cold brew coffees are really good. We got matcha and mocha flavors. You can taste the coffee and it's not overly sweet like a lot of other blended drinks, just a really good flavor. Great indoor & outdoor seating areas.

Friendly staff & a perfect flat white. Good vibes inside & plenty of space to hang, work, or people watch on 30th. Def coming back for some grinds & bruskis bra

I'd give it a 3.5 because it's slightly over priced for what it is. The "Power Toast" is $5.95. It's literally toast, topped with slices of avocado... nothing more. The American is $3.05. They grind the beans to order. That justifies the coffee price, which has a nice flavor. What pushed it up to 4 stars is the atmosphere, which is pleasant.

Warm, cozy and delicious paninis. Coffee and beer...what a combination. It's even a great place for the little ones to get their homework done. Friendly staff and ample seating.

OMG! This place gave me the feels! The drinks are amazing....we got all of ours with macadamia nut milk and they were fantastic! The staff was the best as well! Cant wait to visit again!

WOW. Now I have tried soooo many coffee shops in San Diego and this one is definitely in my top three! Sooo good. Drink: I tried both the horchata latte and cinnamon agave which is their most popular. I liked the cinnamon agave it is definitely sweeter but it's natural so I love it! You can always get it less sweet if you like. I also ordered with almond milk. Service: The girl was nice and put up with all my questions so that is always a plus. Ambiance: There is so much seating here I love it! Alsoooo there is such cool wall art and I love how you can sit and face the open outdoor windows for fresh air

People hype up the other coffee shops in the area but lowkey this might be the best one on 30th street and maybe the best one in North Park in general. First of all. It's a chill place to come and kick it. Open space. Good vibes. Plenty of spots to sit. Free wifi. Not sure if it's dog friendly but it looks so. Menu is affordable and has a lot of variety. I don't ever eat at cafe but there were several things that caught my eye that might change my mind. I got two coffees here. The Coconut Orange Blossom Water Americano for 6 dollars. Its coconut water, espresso and their house made orange blossom almond syrup with a dash of cream. And I also got the Pear Peach Pie coffee which had fresh peaches, pears and plums are stewed in a simple syrup of thyme, nutmeg and clove to create a pie like syrup added to espresso and oat milk. The orange blossom was for the win. Both were great and you could taste all the notes. It was well rounded. But the orange blossom had that little bit of umph that separated it from the other. Which is interesting because I typically wouldn't go for it. I did ask for the peach pie coffee to be made with one less pump because it just sounded super sweet. Service was quick and easy. Nice people all around. There were a handful of people there and I saw a worker go around and check in with each of them which I feel like doesn't really happen at a coffee shop and that was sweet. I'll be coming back for sure

3-4 stars. They were super crowded this morning, but handled the rush really well. Today, I believe the owner was here! The baristas were really friendly and kind. The fans were working much better than last time with a nice cool breeze. The space was well decorated with pretty vases and plants. Today, I sat in the front of the coffee shop and shared the rectangular table with a few strangers. I ordered my drink "for here!" I was deciding between a vanilla bean latte and the peach pear pie again. I decided to go with the ($6) iced peach pear pie latte, the smaller size, with regular milk. Compared to other coffee places, this one lacks the coffee strength. I think it was quite thin & milky today. I couldn't exactly taste all the flavors listed on the description for this latte (I wish it had more oomph! I know I said that last time too, but I figured it would be different today). I saw people with hot drinks, their "for here" mugs were so lovely! The ceramic glaze was a beautiful blueish purple which matched their Lazy Eye Coffee mural outside. A nice array of seasonal specials, coffee, teas, and food! Dog friendly and a great place to come with friends/family. Have conversations or people-watch outside the windows. They also have coffee merch: t shirts, jackets, tumblers, and more!

Ample comfy seating, wall outlets and good wifi. These are the ingredients to a perfect study coffee shop. Bonus points for the couch, natural sunlight, and dog friendly space. Service is friendly and helpful. My only critique is the the 2 times I've been, the natural tea selection is too small. Only one caffeine free tea. Not ideal for evening study sessions, or for this girl trying to improve her Oura ring sleep score.

PROS Lots of space to sit and work or chat. Diverse menu for coffee, non-coffee, alcohol, and non-alcoholic drinks Banana Bread Latte was tasty. Not overly sweet Coffee was made quickly the morning after 7/4 Location is great if you wanted to grab a coffee and walk around NP Happy Hour! CONS Parking can be a mess since it's in prime NP location. However circling a few times always proves fruitful Person who made my coffee didn't seem the happiest, but it was the morning after 7/4 so a hangover or lack of sleep would do the same to me (too empathetic? ‍) Still would come here but maybe for their happy hour and to work. Coffee is getting crazy pricey everywhere so if you're going to treat yourself, grab something that you can't make from home to make it worth it. They have a good selection of those types of drinks here.

CHAIRS, COUCHES, AND COFFEE I like cool spots with chill vibes and access to quick bites and fun coffee concoctions. Like carrot cake latte, PB latte, or yuzu ginger latte. But instead I ordered the Acai smoothie. Mainly because I'm short on time today. I'm an acai smoothie connoisseur and this one lacked all flavor. But it's healthy and my body will benefit. This is a quaint coffee lounge that I know I will frequent. Honestly, I'm more creative and productive at clean, eclectic coffee lounges. I was here from 915 AM to 1015 AM on a Saturday and there was plenty of seating at the window genie bar, tables, couches, lounge chairs. HIGHLIGHT The wide spacing between seating and variety of choices is favorable for those with mobility devices, obesity, visual impairments or physical disabilities. All can enjoy without barriers. I don't know who or when it was owned by someone else. The name intrigued me as I was diagnosed with a lazy eye when I was a kid...for real though. LOL I went in there today to get something to eat since I saw that they had bagels and burritos. They have a nice special going to 10.00 for black coffee and a burrito. I will definitely get that next time. It's a sweet little coffee shop with a lot of character. I love how it's decorated, and it looks like a good place for my recruiter and me to meet up the next time she wants to come to North Park. Thankfully, they have vegan choices, but I accidentally ordered the wrong thing: a veggie burrito. It was good, considering it had an egg on it, but that's my fault, not theirs. Make sure you calm your ADD while reading the menu, I wasn't paying close enough attention while ordering. There is a nice big couch with a coffee table; while I was sitting there, I couldn't help but think of the Central Perk from Friends. I would sit next to Phoebe, though, not Ross. Anyhow, I will be back once it's not so hot outside because this is an old building, and the airflow isn't very good, and it was really warm where I was sitting. They need to turn the fans on. Other than that, great place and I will return.

I think this is the third coffee shop that has been in this location. Parking is very difficult so it definitely would not be a go to for me if I was not in the neighborhood already. Staff was friendly. They have lots of seating inside with tables in the front and back. They offer food as well, but I only had their drinks. Tried: Banana iced latte - really sweet. I think because this was a batch coffee that it had very little espresso to counter the sweetness. Peanut butter - this was good, but the peanut butter flavor wasn't very strong. Had a sample of their blueberry latte, this was better than banana.

North Park is the home of the newest branch of Lazy Eye Coffee which has a presence in Bay Ho and Mission Beach that are both closer to where I live. The operating hours of this location are from 7 am to 4 pm. The later closing time suited my recent schedule so I made the drive to 30th St on a mid-afternoon. I saw a fire truck parked nearby and thought nothing of it until I entered the cafe. A group of firefighters was gathered around a large table taking a break. Good for them! This corner suite had ample seating that was well-spaced apart. Along the left wall was some merchandise on display. Menu boards were posted behind the service counter, and sheets were also available next to the register. Black brews, milk brews, and non-coffee were the drink categories. The last was a medley of offerings like hot/cold tea, smoothies, shakes, hot cocoa, and chocolate milk. The food was more limited as I counted eight choices. Interestingly, the online menu at lazyeyecoffee.com had fewer food and drink selections than the on-site menu. I picked a Sparkling Lavender Lemonade and a Brekkie Burrito. The sparkling lemonade was infused with vanilla lavender. The burrito consisted of a fresh tortilla filled with eggs, potatoes, cheddar cheese, and sausage as my choice of protein. It was cut in half and served with a cup of salsa. What I liked best about the item was that the tortilla was grilled to create some crispiness on the outside. The service from the worker (owner?) was welcoming and pleasant.

I like this laid-back coffee shop. It's spacious and non pretentious. It feels like a coffee shop for the people, and it's locally owned. I had a well-made cortado and a house made bacon, potatoes, and eggs breakfast burrito. The cortado was nicely balanced, and the burrito was very tasty. The peeps who work here are chill and friendly. Only street parking is available. I'm bummed because I forgot to use the 15% check-in offer. Next time!

I was a frequent visitor of this location when it was Young Hickory (RIP), then HOB. When I saw that they had changed names (and owners?), of course I had to give them a try! The interior has been updated to match, but there are still plenty of seats and plugs for working, studying, or hanging out with friends. I didn't catch the name of my barista (who was super nice) but I am glad I got the banana bread latte upon his recommendation! Smooth, delicious and a good balance of flavors to give that banana bread flavor. I would say that the BB latte is not heavy on the 'nana flavor, if you're worried about that. Some may say it could use stronger banana flavor, but I thought my cup was fine. Would definitely get again. Stop by and give them a try, the lattes seem solid, and the mural outside is rad.

Great coffee shop to meet up with friends, get some work done, or relax. It was my first time visiting Lazy Eye and it did not disappoint. The space is large with plenty of seating. There were quite a few people on their computers and it was relatively quiet. The coffee is excellent. I went with the banana bread latte. It was on the sweeter side, but that's just how I like it. The food was also great. I had The Toast, which I highly recommend. It was a decent sized portion and filling. Definitely check out Lazy Eye if you're looking for great coffee and food in North Park!

I stumbled upon Lazy Eye while shopping in North Park and had to stop after seeing its lovely dog-themed mural. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I ordered a Peachy, which was basically an Arnold Palmer with peach iced tea. It was delicious! Not too sweet and the perfect amount of peach flavor. I also ended up buying a camper mug with their top-cute Mohawk pug logo. The space was beautiful, my barista was friendly and service was fast. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in San Diego.

Took over the HOB coffee that was here before so the layout is pretty much the same. I got an agave cinnamon latte that was pretty darn good! Some other drinks can be a little sweet though and and floral drinks be florally! If you like that, then give it a try! staff was sweet and friendly. Nice enough to have a decent conversation with. Lots of seating and work space here. They ran out of the banana bread latte when I came, so I definitely will be back to try that out!!

Since taking over space, Lazy Eye has been a breath of fresh air! The coffee drinks are creative, well balanced and delicious with homemade syrups. The menu is straightforward and will please any type of coffee drinker. It's a clean and comfy space with great staff. If you're in North Park, this is the place to grab a quick drink to go or hang-out a while if you're looking for a neighborhood coffee shop.

I'll start with the drinks. I ordered the sparkling Bergamot Lavender espresso. Unfortunately for me it just tasted like a sparkling americano with no sweetener. I couldn't taste any of the lavender syrup at all. I was pretty bummed as I had tried the sparkling orange espresso and the sparkling mazagran from Finjan coffee, which a balance of sweet, bold and refreshing. Of course, you can't expect each coffee shop to have the same taste. But just a heads up for anyone who maybe wanted some type of flavor in there. If you like americanos you might like this. My boyfriend ordered the cold brew. He requested creamer and sweetener . We received it without any creamer so we asked the nice girl who took our order if she could add cream. She did but it seems like only a tiny splash. It barely changed color. It was really flavorless. It didn't taste like any sweetener was added at all. Cold brew tasted watered down and not very rich or bold. I then asked the barista for a side cup of cream which he provided right away. We added a bunch of creamer to make up for lack of flavor but now it tasted like water and cream. The food was good. I ordered the veggie bagel I would order it again. My boyfriend ordered a sandwich and he said it was good too. Staff was friendly and nice, ambiance was good.

I'll be the first to review the newest coffee shop in North Park. Super friendly service and good drip coffee - solid. Also like the lattes and love the chocolate in their Mochas. Bright, happy interior with chill music to work & hang out with your pup. Really nice puppy (& cat) mural on the side of the building - I like that the artists of North Park are keeping the mural theme alive. This one is really well done!

The wall art outside is wonderful. I LOVE the Mocha Shake which is a unique drink Ashley, the owner, created. Please please please come try it out. The restaurant and staff have a BEAUTIFUL vibe I'm sure you will love.

Prices are standard. Lazy Eye Coffee just opened not too long ago, so they have a few things to work out, but do see potential. Loving the vibes, artwork displayed inside, and the mural outside of the business is amazing. The person working the register was super friendly and brought the drinks to us with a smile, which is always warm and welcoming. Banana bread latte didn't have that impacting flavor of banana. Maybe it's better hot, and the flavors will pop more? The Pnut Butter Cup was okay. I probably would have to say the same thing with it being hot versions. I definitely wanna try this place again.

Great coffee and great service. We had the fall special - pumpkin cookie. What a great stop. We also tried the bagel - which was large! I wish they had cuter shirts because we wanted one for a souvenir. That would be my only suggestion. Thank you for the great coffee!!

The coffee and food are great! Nice variety of different coffees and food options. Free wifi and plenty of indoor seating available. A big turnoff was the number of flies inside! Constantly swatting flies away from our coffee and food. :(

Great place with amazing food, coffee and ambiance! My wife and I came here to study and were so happy to see this place had opened up. They make all their syrups in house and have refreshingly unique options for drinks instead of the same old same old. I had the hot banana bread latte and it was one of the best coffee lattes I've had. It tasted exactly like banana bread. Both their pastries, bagel sandwiches and açaí bowls are amazing and the staff are wonderful. Come on out and support a local business so we can avoid having everything in town run by a giant restaurant group.

The blonde girl with bangs was such an awesome barista. She recommend the peach latte and it was amazing. Will come again.

One of my favorite coffee shops to get work done in within walking distance of my home! The shop is spacious and baristas are laid back and friendly. I've been here twice for a few hours and have tried their cappuccino, blueberry lemon latte (light in flavors but pleasant nonetheless), and their a sparkling espresso beverage and all were great. Breakfast burrito was also solid. Will definitely return soon for a change of scenery from working in my apartment!

Great pastries, Great Service, & environment. It's a cool spot if ya wanna read, study, or even work, & of course great coffee!! the agave cinnamon latte is one of my favs!

My grandson and I had a lovely breakfast at Lazy Eye Coffee Shop. Being 4 years old, he chose the basic bagel with cream cheese and made short work of it with much lip smacking and "yum"ing. I chose the bacon, egg and cheese "sammich" which also might have been basic, except for the flavorful, spicy spread which had me "yum"ing too. I also had a decaf latte. It was very nicely presented in a china cup with latte art. The staff were friendly and our food was presented in a timely manner. All in all a very pleasant visit. Thank you.

I love this place because Taylor always provides very personable customer service and always gets my drink right. Never fails to start my day right.

New location from our favorite coffee shop (we frequented the drive through location on most weekends) Located next to other cute spots this is definitely the place to start a day. Had a vanilla bean latte, perfectly brewed, with the goldilocks of sweetness, beautiful latte art. We also got an iced oat milk matcha latte which does perfect service to the earthy sweet tea flavors present in a good matcha (they also have the best oat milk). Served with a metal straw! This place is eco friendly, dog friendly, good vibes filled with good looking mid century modern comfy sofas. Seriously this is probably one of our favorite coffee shops from del mar to the boarder.

I had an iced agave cinnamon latte with oat milk and half sweet. I like their unique latte options and they even had Valentine's specials named "can I get your number, honey" and "wanna hang out sometime." My drink came out quickly and the barista was friendly. Overall, a cute spot with quality drinks.

Dangerous moving 5 min walk from here!!! The staff is SO SO SO nice! I have only had the toast and the same coffee but my fiancé works next door and he goes a lot and loves everything. For me what stood out was how in a busy world you're going to a spot where you'd feel someone remembers you - and your furry friend - and I feel that's rare now adays. Headed there now actually with my dachshund :)

My sister and I grabbed coffee from here after we visited the book store a few stores down. The store had a laid back vibe, the service was exceptional, and the drinks were fantastic. My sister ordered the PB latte and I got the agave cinnamon latte with oak milk, both iced. They were also so kind and remade my drink after I dropped the entire thing I'm bummed that I am not local as I would frequent this spot often.

Really love that this place is dog friendly! I needed to do some work and my bf needed to study and at the same time spend time with our pup. Thanks to staff for the doggy treat! Good coffee, we got the banana bread latte which I thought was very yummy. We also got the sausage burritos. Cute cafe, not crowded, lots of seating that are spaced out and lots of outlets. Last minute changed my mind from my normal coffee shop and decided to switch it up today and came to Lazy Eye, staff was helpful with recommendations, I got the banana bread latte and a bagel sandwich, cream cheese really stole the show it was delicious. Lots of seating.

Love the vibe. Love the coffee. Love the people. The breki burrito and coffee for $9.99 is a great deal! Just a cool laid back local spot that really just embodies a cool coffee place to me!

First timer! I always try to find coffee alternatives to Starbucks when I can, and this place was great! Greeted with a smile and friendly service. Oh, and there's a drive thru I Ordered Vegetarian breakfast burrito and honey rose latte. I was trying something new with the latte so I got the smaller size. I should have got the larger size it was amazing!! great spot for a quick bite and delicious coffee. Starbucks who? I'm going here when I'm in the area! thank you! I need another latte.

First found lazy eye in Bay Ho! Loved the coffee, then stumbled upon the one in mission beach and then In north park! Love all three locations and always go back. Coffee is delicious, service is always astounding AND they have these delicious kolaches!! Oh my god 1000% worth a try

zero out of ten. i went in there and expected a nice experience. super wrong. the lady kept saying she would be with us probably like 7 times at that point don't even keep telling me i heard you the first time. ordered 2 bagel sandwiches since they sold out of the original item we wanted. specifically asked for the lazy sauce on the side and lo and behold the sauce was on there. we were also given a number but no one even brought it to our table so what was even the point in that? if u want overpriced bagels with weird yogurt sauce and bad service this is it! total time spent was 25 mins and total money spent was $22 and only ordered 2 things.

We had a great breakfast of tea, coffee, and pastries here this morning! Great location and atmosphere with lovely, friendly staff. If there's an espresso scone available, snap it up with a cup of earl grey! We had been to the Mission Beach location so we were happy to see another shop now open near our kids in North Park! We'll be back!

I had the best experience with this new coffee shop, Taylor was my barista. Phenomenal customer service and ambiance. Taylor recommended the banana bread latte and it did not disappoint!! Great coffee
