The Best Korean Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"When Young’s opened in White Bear Lake in 2024, the neighborhood celebrated the full-circle journey for chefs and owners Sami and Young Lim who met while working at the local grocery store. Now, their reach has extended with customers coming from across the metro to enjoy menu highlights like kalbi bibimbap with fragrant jasmine rice, caramelized beef, and a rainbow of fresh vegetables topped with a sunny egg. Another star item is the ruddy burnt ends and tender beef short ribs with a shower of sesame seeds and finely chopped scallions." - Julie Yu

Google
Good Korean food. I came here on friday around 6:30pm and the restaurant wasn’t busy. The decor inside gives the 2000ish vibe, feels like we go back in time. I ordered Pork bulgogil and chicken gaejang. Food came out after 5 minutes and it was tasty, a long with side dishes. Since there is 1 waitress and 1 chef, it may have long waiting time if the restaurant is busy. I had to wait a little bit to get my bill, since the lady was busy in the kitchen. They are friendly, as an old couple run the business. Will come back in the future

Google
Food was good but not worth the high prices. The thing that bothered me was that the owners kept shushing our table even though we were not really loud at all, and there was only one other table when we got there. Also, they were very nice to the other table but very cold to us. One time we laughed as a group and the cook came out to publicly berate us for being too loud. Like he literally stood there, glared at us, and shouted at us to be quiet, and we felt so awkward that we quickly finished up and left after that because we felt so unwelcome. Mind you, this entire restaurant was almost empty except for us and another table, and the other table did not look at all bothered by us. Overall a good place if you want to practice eating in silence.

Google
No complaints. Both employees (or owners idk) were beyond kind to my little nephew & the food was good and came out quickly

Google
Important! Make reservations, not b/c it’s busy, but due to the limited staff. They only have one cook and ONE server. $30 minimum for credit card purchases. Now the review, I LOVE this place. I come to ROC for work every now and then and I always make positive I eat here a couple times per trip or more. The food and service are always superb. It’s is in an unlikely industrial park like area, but so worth the few extra minutes drive!

Google
Pretty good place overall. It was a bit strange they asked if we had a reservation but that's fine honestly. Seems to be a small mom and pop operation and food was really good and plentiful. The beef soup was good and the bibimbap was good and huge in terms of the portions.

Google
The server was so nice to me! Even though the restaurant was going to close in 30 minutes, they still accepted me! For the food, they provided many different kinds of side dishes! And the Kimchi soup was delicious! I will definitely visit again!

Google
Not authentic Korean AT ALL. They put a lot of MSG to the food so that I wasn't able to finish the dish. Also, sanity is seriously concerned. There was a part of iron scrubbers in the food as can be seen from the uploaded photo...which was disgusting... That was too much. YOU HAVE TO CALL TO MAKE A RESERVATION BEFORE THE VISIT DUE TO THE COVID19. Otherwise owner will not be happy. It was awkward moment when I went there without a reservation. But the lady was kind. I would rather cook myself or visit other restaurants. Haven't tried other Korean restaurants, and will soon try others too. I gave 2 stars because of the service from old lady. Food itself is worth 1 star.

Google
Food is okay. I can say that there's a lot of MSG that was put in. Servings are huge per dish 2-3 people can eat. Read that pajun with seafood was good that was why I was expecting a lot but it did disappoint it was bland for my liking and the sauce was on a salty side, I tried better ones. Kimchi-jjigae is my favourite among all. They served it on boiling hot pot and 2-4 people can share it. Spicy level was on point. Was able to take home some left overs and satify my cravings paired with warm white rice. Side dishes were good. Server said they change 1-2 sides they serve everyday. Was able to take home left overs too. The place is not that fancy like other korean restaurants around but I get it is a family owned restaurant so it has a homey vibe. Prices are also reasonable for the portions compared to other restaurants, 3 dishes for $60 for us. Per meal costs around $12-25. Take note there's already white rice per meal (e.g. donkatsu, kimchi-jjigae) so no need to order. Overall, our experience was good but not the best probably will be trying some other korean restaurants around next time. Note: You need to call beforehand. They dont accept walk-ins and they close at 8pm!

Yelp
Solid experience. I think the reservations throws people off, but I think due to the small 2 person staff and wanting to keep the quality of the food up, the owners just like to know ahead of time what to expect. The banchans were decent and tasted homemade. The portions were also pretty big. My mom said she thought this was by far one of the top Korean restaurants here in Rochester as she is visiting from CA. I think the ambiance could use a little sprucing to be more welcoming, but it was straight forward and clean.

Yelp
I arrived at the restaurant before the regular dinner time and there were several empty tables in the restaurant. The restaurant had no reservations too. However, I was still told that I had to wait for 20-30mins. When I questioned them why I couldn't take one of the empty tables, they said those tables are meant for 4 people and since I was the only one, they didn't want to let me have a table for 4. I think it's a really lame reason. In addition, the place was not busy and no other people were waiting for a table. There was only 1 table for 2 people which was occupied by other diners so I was told that I would need to wait for them to leave before I could take that table. I completely cannot understand why they couldn't let me have one of the empty tables and made me wait. I left the place without eating. They don't make lone diners feel welcome. I definitely won't recommend this place. Not coming back for sure.

Yelp
I received great service! Although I went by myself, a reservation for two or more people is necessary. The food was served quickly, hot, and it tasted delicious! While the interior seems to be in an older condition and could use a refresh, the quality of the food surpasses the look and feel.

Yelp
Everyone said this place has the best banchan and they were right. Everything else was delicious, too. They currently require reservations, so be sure to call ahead. I had dinner on a Friday and it was fairly busy but service didn't lag. We actually received our dishes really quickly. We split a kimchi jeon (pancake), fried mandu (dumplings), and the banchan, of course. The jeon was huge and so perfectly crispy with lots of scallions and kimchi inside. The mandu were perfect (four for an appetizer order). I got the bulgogi ddukbaigi and my friend got the dolsot bibimbap. Both came out sizzling and smelled amazing. They tasted even better. The bulgogi ddukbaigi is sitting in the marinade/sauce rather than being "dry" over rice like regular bulgogi. It comes with a side of white rice. I really loved everything here and will return again to try more off their menu. One of the best Korean meals I've had in Rochester!

Yelp
I came here to meet some friends and brought over my little one too. This is my first time in this place, we came here around 5 and it was dead. Maybe 4 tables were being served. I didn't know what to expect since some of the previous reviews was underrated. I ordered bibimbap and my partner ordered bulgogi with White rice. I found it cute that they have toddler forks so the place is kid friendly. The service was really fast, they came right back for your order and refills your water. I would actually try this place again in the future. Unfortunately I didn't get to take photos this time as my little one was a handful.

Yelp
Traditional homey Korean restaurant. They bring out appetizers to start and give as much of them as you want. I really liked the bulgogi but not the pancake.

Yelp
Young's used to be my favorite Korean restaurant in town, but not so much anymore. I don't have a problem with the food, I think it's probably the most authentic and least Westernized of the 3 Korean restaurants in Rochester (and the best ban chan). I do however have a problem with their service. I have never been turned away from a restaurant as many times before than at Young's. We walk into the restaurant at 7:15 pm, thinking we would have plenty of time since their documented closing time is 8 pm. But nope, "kitchen is closing soon." Like others have mentioned, they have a relatively new reservation system. But usually when i'm grabbing Korean food it's pretty spontaneous and not something i'm planning days or even hours ahead. These service issues were present before the pandemic, but they have gotten worse. I'm not sure if they are just severely understaffed and overworked, but it's almost like they don't want the business. I should not get the sense that I am inconveniencing them every time I set foot in the restaurant. I will probably not be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Nestled between some industrial buildings, Young's is our favorite Korean restaurant in town. They have chosen to cope with the pandemic complications by seating your party only if you have reservations, so the few employees can maintain good service. We were greeted and seated immediately and our server was able to be attentive to our needs. A pair came in while we were dining and were turned away with a polite explanation that two reservations were coming in shortly. The banchan dishes are fresh and varied; tofu, kimchi, seaweed, broccoli and a potato were identifiable! Favorite entrees are bulgogi and very spicy pork bulgogi, served sizzling. Seafood pancakes and dumplings are good too. Consistently tasty.

Amanda V.

Yelp
Young's is my favorite Korean in the area. Everything is always so fresh and delicious. By far the best banchan, I can't get enough of the spicy cucumbers. They still require advanced reservations, which means no spontaneous trips, but if you plan ahead, the food never disappoints. Favorites include the tteokbokki, japchae and fried chicken.

Yelp
This was our first trip to Young's, and it went like this...First off there plenty of free and safe parking up front...Now onto the room...Nothing fancy and almost too chill in its appearance...We ordered our food and drinks as well as an appetizer, which we never received...Anyway, my wife ordered a noodle dish, and I ordered a chicken and veggies...Well, it was less than stellar and very expensive to say the least...My wife's meal was just okay and nothing to praise really at $24.00 it was not worth the price...Mine was just chicken chunks and white onion that was supposed to be mixed veggies...It came on a steaming plate, but it was not worth $21.00, not by a long shot...The free small plates of various offerings was just okay and again not enough to justify the bill...The appetizer we never got...Two plates, one cola and one glass of water with tax and tip came to $62.00, wow right?...We will not be back for another try, sorry but I can't recommend this spot.

Donald A.

Yelp
This restaurant is by far the WORST for planning a get together. We made reservations for nine people and when we arrived the owner informed us she could not accommodate us. We had reservations for 6:30 PM and arrived at 6:15 PM. I had to call the other group of five that was driving in from Victor and ended up at Long Horn in Victor. They turned around and drove back to Victor and Long Horn Steak house did a great job working us in for the birthday celebration. I will NEVER EVEVR GO BACK TO YOUNGS KOREAN RESTURANT AGAIN. So inconsiderate.

Sean A.

Yelp
This is probably the best Korean food you're gonna get in the area. A lot of the negative reviews seem to nust be mad about the new reservation system, but honestly... just call ahead. It's not that hard. This place looks like it's being run by a small family so you're obviously not gonna be getting the same service you'll be getting at a massive chain with a whole corporate side and everything... but in exchange you get way better food than you would get at one of those chains! The people running this place probably just want people to reserve spots so that they could better manage their work/life balance. Just like the rest of us! So yeah... if you show up at 7:15PM when they display everywhere that they close at 8, you're gonna get turned away! Because they don't want to work later to cook for and clean up after you just like you probably don't wanr to work later at YOUR job. They want to close on time and get to enjoying their personal time like the rest of us TL;DR the food is amazing and most of the negative reviews are just people complaining about not being treated like Kings/Queens when they waltz in with no reservation and generally being inconsiderate of the workers.

Yelp
Want Korean food?! Head to Young's. Only turn off is the charge for using a credit card, 4%!! I know it can be tough for a small business to survive but unfortunately you need to get with the times, most people don't carry cash with them. Staff here is always friendly & you can go here & usually not have to wait. Staff is friendly but speaks limited English which doesn't make a difference. It looks like some nights they do karaoke but I have never been there to witness this. I love all the side dishes they offer but the seaweed is on the stronger side so be prepared for that flavor. Their Kimchi is amazing with is flavor & crunchiness. Pajun here is out of this world! The batter is perfect & vegetables are always fresh. Bul gogi is flavorful even with the thin slices of meat & the rice is always cooked to perfection. Bibimbob comes in the stone hot pot with the egg yolk nice & runny for you to mix together. Rice gets all crunchy at the bottom of the bowl which makes it even better. All staff is Korean including your chef so you know its the good stuff. Come here to enjoy the food just bring the cash unless you don't mind the fee.

Yelp
The word Homestyle cooking cannot be further than the truth. If you want an old school no frills place reminescent of the 80's and 90's that serves food that your next door oh ba san would make after school, then this is the place. It's not flashy and food isn't super sharp tasting, at times flavors taste a little too old (as if though warmed up or stewed too long), then this is the place. There are really only 2 Korean restaurants in this Eastern Rochester area, and if you need your Korean food fix, this will get you the taste. It's not the best Korean food I've had, since I come from Atlanta, nor is it the cheapest, but it will do. 3.5/5 stars round up to a 4 since they are doing their best to maintain authentic without any americanization. Food: we ordered a tofu soup- it was nonspicy and it was tofu and "clam" soup. We also got the beef bibimbap in the hot pot. Came with banchan (korean side dishes that come with main meal). We also got the fried ice cream. Banchan: Typical banchan-- a thing of kimchi, cucumbers in chili paste, tofu slices (firm type not soontofu and it was warm compared to this dish usually cold), tofu fish cake, and a couple of other things. Banchan is 4.5/5. Bibimbap: This was well done- the ingredients were good and the flavors were authentic. Nothing wrong with this dish- it all felt a little "stale" in my opinion as if though it had been sitting in the fridge and rewarmed, but homey lacking that crisp and fresh feel that bibimbap really should have. I recommend this dish. 4/5 $10.75 for this dish- alright price. The tofu soup- was not too impressed with this dish unfortunately. The tofu was the firm type that I had never had before in Korean food. most korean food serve their hot soups with soon tofu- the silken kind that usually come with korean food. There was only 1 clam in the whole soup... and it was a soup all uncut scallions and not much substance. I felt we overpaid for a dish that had a good broth, 4-5 pieces of tofu, 1 clam, and lots of scallion strips. I do not recommend this dish but the flavor was otherwise good. 2/5 for this. 11.50$ too much for this. Fried ice cream was good- had a thai donut feel on the outside and a matcha green inside. Ice cream wasn't melted and donut was still thoroughly cooked outside. 4/5 on this one. Service- we were the only ones here so we got undivided attention, but I heard that they can have long waits if they get crowded due to uncoordinated waiting efforts among the staff.

Yelp
As much as I wanted to give 4 stars, I went with 2 star and it had to do with the service, the cook and the whole process from the time I went it to the time when I left after my meal. This place is located in/around industrial area, got lost, so had to do a U turn and finally found the place, parked and walked in. As much as I liked to be welcomed by Korean food smell, it looks like their ventilation systems needs some work. The older lady that managed the front never greeted me, just asked me how many in my party, I said 1 in English and was told to wait 20 minutes. As I sat in the old couch, I noticed something odd in how they operated... the place was 3/4 full, plenty of open tables, so was bit lost as to why I was asked to wait 20 minutes but whatever. After few minutes, a couple came in and they were told it'd be 30 minutes. But, 2 minutes after the couple came in, two large groups walked in and they were seated right away, okay I started to get mad. Then I realized why they were seated right away, they either knew the owners or made reservation, ok whatever! As I sat there, I observed and this is what I noticed in how they operated the restaurant. 1. Customers are seated, menu given, hot tea/water brought out. 2. The waitress does not check back with the customer for 10 minutes, during this time, they are bringing food for other tables. 3. After 10 minutes, they go back to the table, take the order, then instead of heading to the kitchen with the order, they walk around the dining room, check on the tables, then like 5 minutes later, they enter the kitchen. 4. You get your food, then ask for a bill when you are done eating, it takes them 5 to 10 minutes to get you a bill. Then even if you drop your credit card on the bill, they leave the bill and your credit card on the table and walk away. They come back about 5 minutes later, take your bill and your credit card, process the bill and come back. The above is how they managed all the tables. I also realized why they told me and the couple to wait. Rather than seating us, they waited until few tables cleared up, cleaned up the table, then seated us. The whole process seems outdated, but looks like it works for them, but unfortunately, I didn't feel welcomed at all from the moment I walked into the restaurant. After being seated, the younger waitress brought me cold ice water, then the older waitress brought me water, surprised there was water on the table, she walked away... I already knew what I wanted, so when the younger waitress came back, I ordered the following in Korean. - Jjajangmyung - Spicy Squid Bokkum The order was written down, then few minutes later she came back and I was told the cook did not have time to cook jjajangmyung, gave me a menu and walked away. I didn't see her for 5 minutes, but by this time, she brought my spicy squid and banchans. I said, can you give me jobchae instead of Jjajangmyun and was told the cook was making the jjajangmyung and took away the menu. I was so baffled by the whole experience, I was taken back. Bachans - they were decent, nothing special, expected to be a lot better, but acceptable. Spicy Squid - bit salty, but goes very well if you eat it with rice. It seems they stir-fry the item for few minutes as the onions were still undercooked. I would recommend this dish. Jjajangmyung - surprisingly this dish was good. I would definitely order this dish again, the fact that the cook made this in less than 5 minutes and it was this good, I was surprised. The food was good and definitely I would revisit if I'm in town again. However, the service, the attitude of the cook and the whole process threw me off!! This is not how you run a restaurant, but if it works for them, by all means continue, but seriously they need to revamp their front room operations. To those two ladies working the front, I wish them well, I know they are working hard, but they need help, I hope the owners (or the family that runs it) really think about hiring another person to work the front.

Yelp
I would have given 5 full stars if they provide a better service. My boyfriend and I tried to get the server's attention for a bit while before I finally raise my voice little higher to get the server's attention. It is not something we should not raise our voice to get someone's attention. For menu, it would be nice if they tell us the specific food that are not available before we make an order. It was kind of disappointed when I find out that my favorite food wasn't available this time. At almost end of the closing and the chef was impatiently waiting to kick us out when it has not time to close the restaurant. It made us feel rush to out which we should not feel that way. I would say they need to be more patient or communicate with us by reminding us nice (I hate to interrupt, but we are almost ready to close for the night. It would be 15 mins left to close.) this is the way how to confront customers in nice way then they will always come back next time for a meal.

Grace R.

Yelp
The service was not ideal- we felt very rushed to order even though we were a big group of like 10 people. We were also eventually asked to leave after about an hour because they were closing for a bit? It was strange. The portions were small for the cost especially the ttukbokki. Flavors weren't bad- also if I remember correctly there is some portion added on if you pay with credit so bring cash if you wanna avoid paying an extra few bucks (on top of the already relatively expensive food).

Yelp
Amazing food, kind service, relaxed and not crowded atmosphere. Have been several times and would definitely recommend!

Yelp
I've enjoyed Korean food in many places in the US and abroad. This stuff blows the stuff I've had away... Yes, it is fiery. But also bodacious and earthy. The depth of flavors grips you as you contemplate their synchronicity with each bite. You will struggle to stop when you are full, stuffed, even when darn near gonna explode... Failed to photograph the food as we devoured the mound before I even considered getting pictures of it. Besides, take out is never as photogenic. Highly recommend the kimchi chigae and pork bulgolgi if you have a penchant for heat. The beef bulgolgi is tame, as is the desot bibimbap

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place out for a while with my friends and we finally got to try it out yesterday. This is one of three Korean restaurants that I know of in Rochester, with the other two being Seoul House and Sodam. To be honest, I was really not impressed with this place. For starters, I've been wanting to come to this place for a while and came one night at around 8:30 and they told us that that were closed. But how can they be closed when the hours are from 11am-9:30pm. I've also heard similar stories to this from my friends so that was already a bad sign for me. As for the food, the pricing is what I would expect from Korean restaurants and aren't much different than the other two mentioned above however, the portion that they give you is very very small. My friends ordered a Ja-Jang-Myun and needless to say, it was a very small portion size. This is the first time we've been to a Korean restaurant where we did not feel full at all or satisfied after ordering a $15 dish. I ordered the pork-bulgogi and even that seemed like very little to me. Needless to say, I'll just stick to Seoul House and Sodam from here on out.
google avatar

Cathy N.

Yelp
Yummy dishes, the service is fast even though only have one cook and 1-2 servers. I would say the dishes have a touch of traditional Korean food. Some of my friends didn't like the service there but if you come and get to know the owner (which are the cook and server), they are really nice. Food is delicious. My choices are Yukgajang, beef Bibimbap, Seafood pancake, Kalbitang.... Try not to come when the restaurant will be close in an hour, they might not have more food to serve.

Yelp
The people who work here are the absolute sweetest people ever. This place has alright food but you feel very welcomed and taken care of here. It's run by this older couple and the husband cooks while the wife gets the customers, and the wife is so sweet I love her. I'd literally go back just to talk to her. Now on to the food. It was just me and my dad but we still ordered a ton of food cuz that's what you do at Korean restaurants. We first started with the crispy seafood pancake ($14.95) that was enormous and came with this great spicy sauce to dip it in. It probably needs a little more seafood in the pancake itself but then again we didn't make it too far since the rest of our food came right after! I ordered the Jab Chae ($12.95) which are these delicious potatoe noodles that look yellowish clear (sounds gross but it's amazing) with vegetables and some meat. The portion was definitely the smallest I've ever seen and wasn't hot as it usually is when I order from other Korean restaurants. It was still tasty but could use more sauce. We also ordered the BulGoGi ($14.95) which is sliced marinated beef with onions served on a sizzling platter with bowls of rice. This plate was also disappointing as the meat was kind of dry and it could definitely use more sauce and/or marinating. The appetizers that come with the meal though are amaaazing. Appetizers are pretty much my favorite part anyways. You get tofu, kimchi, spicy kimchi cucumber, fish cakes (my fave), bean sprouts, radish, aaand I think that's it. But my favorite is to mix all this stuff with my main dish for some excellent flavors and that you can keep getting the appetizers refilled. I would definitely go for the many appetizers at this place and try a stew or tofu bowl. Their meats and portions for noodles could use some work but service is on point. BONUS: the one place in Rochester too that automatically serves you tea and as an Asian person that's a must

Yelp
Yeah for Unofficial Yelp Events. The banchan was really crisp and vibrant. Their seafood and vegetable pancake had a great smattering of ingredients. I ordered the NakJi-BokUm, it was very flavorful and spiced well enough but not offensively. I would definitely order the dish again. I tried the pork and beef bulgogi, the pork was much better, a bit caramelized and seasoned more. I also sampled the Chicken Katsu, some of the table thought it was too sweet, I liked the light coating and semi-sweet light sauce. Thanks Jen C for posting pics of the menu.

Yelp
Korean food is my absolute favorite food so when I was working in Rochester for a month, I was so happy to find this place very close to where I was staying and working. I probably came by here at least 2x a week! My favorites were haemul pacheon, pork bulgogi, and kimchi bokeumbap for takeout. I never sat down to eat in-restaurant, but service was always very friendly. Came by after a few years when in town for a wedding and sat in for lunch. I wish it was just as I remembered. The place itself is a very plain office building, bathrooms are outside of the restaurant down the hall. This place has many tables as well as a counter/bar area. It's a little dimly lit. Service was just as friendly as I remembered. Wanted to try something different this time. Got an order of ddukbeoki... way too sweet and not enough spicy. My husband got an order of chicken (kanpungi), and I ordered jjambbong. Mine was very spicy (a little too much), but tasted great. My husband's was also pretty good. The only thing is that the cost is very pricey for what I'd expect to normally pay for Korean food... maybe it's a NY thing? I'm still happy to come by.

Yelp
Even my Korean mother, who is quite possibly one of the harshest food critics, agrees that this place is totally authentic. We have appreciated all of the meals from Young's during the pandemic. We used to dine here at least weekly but now we have to resort to take out. The food is always fresh and delicious! Don't be afraid to try the takeout!

Yelp
The best korean restaurant. Really delicious And the price is nice too. Strongly recommend!!!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Korean restaurants anywhere! Their Banchan, Is always fresh and delicious! My favorite is their tofu, which I have yet to see at the other Rochester restaurants. The dishes that I recommend to you would be Donkatsu A deliciously fried pork cutlet, Ttukbaegi bulgogi Bulgogi with sauce in an earthenware pot, and Tangsuyuk, which is Sweet and sour pork or beef. But any of their dishes are very yummy. The staff here is very friendly and the service is quick. Definitely give this place a try.

Yelp
It might have been what I ordered, but I have to say in comparison to other authentic Korean restaurants I have been to and Sodam here in Rochester, I wasn't too impressed. I do admit, I did like the variety of Korean apps they give for the table but that comes standard for Korean restaurants. We were a party of four and the table ordered kalbi short ribs, chicken/beef dolsat bibimbap, and I had the dumpling and rice cake in beef broth. We also shared fried dumplings and their seafood pancake as appetizers. The fried dumplings and seafood pancake were okay but I did find the pancake to heavily battered and the sauce they gave us way too salty. The beef broth that I had barely had any beef in it and the dumplings were too bland for my taste. Though I did enjoy the rice cakes. Nobody at my table was raving about their dishes and I noticed my friend's beef ribs, the portion size seemed quite small for what she had to pay for. I think from now on, I will just stick to Sodam restaurant if I want my Korean restaurant fix, sorry Young's. I do admit though, the staff were very hospitable and explained the menu very well to us.

Yelp
I brought my girlfriend from Seoul here and she said it tastes just like her mom's home cooking. I'm from the States and also thought it was totally delicious. Just make sure you make a reservation and stay on time, otherwise they cancel the reservation. Definitely best Korean food I've had in upstate NY.

Yelp
Food is decent, and the number of side dishes is more than their competition restaurants. However, the service from the owner lady put me off. She made people wait for an empty restaurant, moved people's tables for an almost empty restaurant, and directed people to reserve it next time not so politely ("Reserve it next time" instead of "Could you please" and/or "Thank you for coming"), when the current service is not good to come back. She walked around and looked at customers like they were intruders to her place. I don't want to receive poor service while eating, which can upset my stomach, when I am paying $45 over a meal for 2 people (taxes and tips). I tried her place multiple times to help local business owners, but not worth trying anymore when she treats customers badly. Will not go back.

Yelp
On Mushroom Street this place thrives because it serves great home cooked food for and to the active Korean community in the area. The dining area is a rectangle with restaurant chic tables and chairs covered with table cloths. Each place setting comes with a napkin, chopsticks and a serving spoon. The staff is welcoming and attentive. The prices are very reasonable. There is a large stage front on the side of the dining area that looks like it is for some serious karaoke and lots of pictures from local Taekwondo clubs. You can eat family style or order individual portions. The meal is accompanied by the usual assortment of kimchee, marinated vegetables, tofu, cabbage and steamed dumplings. Once you order, the meals are placed on the table almost immediately. We started with the Scallion Salad, which had a great spice kick to it. Fried dumplings, an order of hot noodles and cold noodles were ordered. We completed our selection with a Kimchee pancake (pizza size) and two orders of bulgogi beef. There were 5 adults and 3 children and the amount of food we ordered was perfect. A must go for Korean home cooking in Rochester.

Yelp
This is my favorite Korean restaurant in Rochester. I've tried Sodam, and Seoul Garden, and I still think Young's Korean is better. Their spicy octopus is my favorite, unlike Sodam's version, the sauce is not runny. The seafood pancake is also delicious, and comes in big portions to share! I took one star off because the restaurant is short staffed, and I was turned away twice because they were too busy (barely half the tables were filled). So, if you're going on a holiday, I would go early or try a different restaurant!

Yelp
After many failed attempts to eat here (due to weather or no seatings), my boyfriend and I finally got to try Young's. The restaurant is very homey with pretty outdated decor. The place is big and much more quiet than Sodam. The waitresses were very friendly this time. The other times when we didn't get a seat, we had very rude people who bluntly said no more seats and walked away. The prices here are a few dollars higher but the portions are pretty similar to Sodam's so I can't say much for the value of eating here. I really liked the banchan at Young's. The pickled veggies had more sour taste which I prefer, and their tofu one was so flavorful. Really yummies for sure. My bf and I got the fried dumplings, seafood pancake, beef bibimbop and beef japchae (glass noodle). The dumplings had a good flavor, but really nothing special. You get 4 dumplings and it was $3.95. At a dollar per dumpling it's not something I'd get again. The seafood pancake is great. It is more dense and doughy than other korean places and probably a bit bigger. I liked that there is more seafood in Young's seafood pancake also. The only thing is that it was a little burnt on some pieces so I had to toss one out. The bibimbop was pretty ok. The korean flavors were there after I smothered it with the red sauce. They really skimped on the meat though, there were few small slices in my whole bowl when compared with the other stuff....I also missed the crispy rice on the bottom. My boyfriend's japchae had really good flavor. It is subtle but it was there. He was also cheated out of meats. The portion isn't that big either. Overall we'd come back to try other dishes, but it is pretty pricy. I agree with other reviews saying that the flavors are more subtle compared to Sodam's. I wish they would give you more of the good stuff instead of filling in space with rice and noodles.

Yelp
Young's has the best local Korean food! The owners are the nicest people and the food is fresh, plentiful and delicious (and we've traveled to Korea several times so I can say it is authentic!). I will disagree with others who have criticized the service. This is a small, family run business, doing its best to keep going in difficult times - they have limited staff. The Ajummani is wonderful, and does her best to provide good service to all. The chef, her husband, will often come and look around the dining room between orders (he is not trying to get people to hurry or leave). One person complained about groups being seated before her, that is because they take reservations. Young's is a big supporter of the Korean-adoptee community in the Rochester area, always taking time to talk with families and share about Korean food with them. This is our go-to place when we want a good meal.

Yelp
bad service , need reservations ahead even no one in the restaurant. It more like they do not want make business

Yelp
Friendly reminder that place is "reservation only" even when there are plenty of empty tables.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this restaurant. It's elegantly laid out, the service was so nice and attentive, and the atmosphere was really lovely. We went for a family dinner with a party of 7, and they accommodated is nicely. The food came out quickly, and we had a good experience overall. The only problem is that there are two other Korean restaurants within a 2-5 minute drive. It's extremely difficult to come here and NOT compare it to the others. And frankly, while the food was by no means bad per se, it's definitely not the best of the three options available in the same area. Their bibimbap just didn't have the same flavor as their competitors, the japjae was over-peppered and under-seasoned in every other way, the pajeon was very cakey and didn't have as much meat as their competitors, and the prices were kind of steep. I would probably come here again if someone else really wanted to try it, but I think there are other options to feed your Korean cravings at a better price. Also, be aware that when you use a credit card, there is a service fee.

Yelp
Omg the korean pancakes are to die for. I love going to this place but unfortunately it's been a few years with the pandemic... it's still as delicious as I remembered!

Yelp
I want to first of by saying, the service and hospitality given by our Server (Sue) deserves a solid 5 stars. We thought she was great. Very kind and is the only saving grace of our experience. Having experienced the couple of other Korean restaurants in Henrietta, I finally gave Young's a try. We came in on a Sunday around 2pm, and immediately the sign on the door caught my attention. It stated if the payment is done with credit card, there will be a 4% 'service charge.' Already that was a turn off considering I've never heard of that business practice. This was a first for me, but nevertheless we entered. We ordered many dishes that we're quite familiar with. First started with the fried dumplings which were great. Crispy, tasty, and semi-moist center. The entrees is what caused the most problems. We ordered a couple dishes of the Kalbi. The meat wasn't attached to the rib bones, and looked as if they were from a different cut. These weren't as flavourful, moist, nor tender. The couple of rib bones themselves plopped on the plate were the biggest disappointment. These were tough, extremely chewy, and one rib bone was completely raw. Seems like a random mix of marinated meat with a single rib bone. We also ordered the Bulgogi which was also a let down. Just like the Kalbi, these were also served on raw onions and were completely lacking flavour. The meat was tender, but only due to them being prepped and cut a certain way. Onto the Haemul Pajeon (Korean Seafood Pancake), this giant pancake the size of a medium sized pizza consisted of 5-6 specks of octopus. Not sure where the rest of the seafood was, but this was a complete letdown. Although nice and crispy, 10 minutes and you'll have a doughy, soggy pancake with barely any seafood. We did order the Jang Uh Gui (Boiled Eel) dish as well. Really can't mess this up considering it's premade and warmed. This actually was the best eel on a sizzling plate I've had. Nice and tender and taste like any other broiled eel. I do want to point out the dishes in the beginning were delicious especially the spicy tofu and seaweed. With all this said and done, it is indeed difficult giving this restaurant such a low score. I had high hopes due to the location (hole-in-the-wall) and the great overall score. Unfortunately with the quality, and the ridiculous 4% "service charge" on all credit card payments, I won't be returning. I've had better Korean dishes, and experience at the other options in this small town. Again, the service is a 5/5.

Yelp
Pricier than what's available in the same area. I'd give them a heavy score on mini appetizer dishes. Those are the best that I've had, ever. Home made kimchi and other stuff. They're all yummy. We ordered jambon soup, kimbab, and kimchi pajeon. They were all good, home-style cooking. I like it. The chefs are Korean for sure(I heard them talk). I'd recommend the place overall.

Yelp
When people say small portion sizes and bad service, believe them! It was difficult to find the beef! Next to none. Stone bowl not hot enough to make my rice crispy or cook my egg and they only give you the yolk?? I'm leaving hungry! There was not enough food! When I first arrived, there are 13 tables and only one filled. They WOULD NOT let me sit in the back corner bc I was one person. They all told me know and the old man was in the background yelling and throwing his hands. So disrespectful. I've been traveling since 9 am. Just got in from the airport, too tired to argue. Waitress checked on other tables, skipped mine. Terrible service. This is my first time in Rochester and I pray to God that the rest of my service is not like today. If you like Korean food, go somewhere else!!! I am posting this at the end of my meal bc they claimed people will rush in for dinner, still there's only 5 people here. Smh not true.

Yelp
Korean food price point here is set reasonably compare to other states that I've eaten Korean foods from but the quality of the food is okay at best and unfortunately the ingredients in the food severely lacking in sustenance (aka full of filler ingredients, instead of variety of sea food in the seafood soup, you'd get 2 shrimps, few pieces of squid and whole lot of sliced radish). Yes I understand that radish is part of broth making process but they shouldn't call it a seafood soup but radish soup with sea food. To be honest, Korean food scene in Rochester is severely lacking, 3 in Henrietta area and all seem to be lacking respect to the Korean food. I would really like to find good quality Korean restaurant here in Rochester, but as of right now it seems like I have to start cooking instead of giving these Korean restaurants any more of my money.

Yelp
Food is ok, terrible service,, ask for the little dish potato the owner come over say we give you egg today, so you can't get potato, Korean food , best part is little dish, but not today's, we bet here so many times, they should know me, but never say hello, it's should be my last time he, will I give them one more chance tonight, even can't get tea, have to wait half hour, lookalike I owe them money, I give tip cash, the owner came over saying there's no tip in the credit card, I say can I leave cash?

Yelp
I wasn't about to make the same mistake twice at a different Korean restaurant. Arriving early, I grabbed the menu and got the lowdown on what I needed to order. I was going straight for the bulgogi and it was a win. Our crew started with the scallion pancakes, which are a bit crispier than other spots around ROC. I like the crunch factor and I definitely prefer the veggie option. The vegetables also maintain their crispy crunch and flavor. Following the scallion pancakes, the server brought us the mini dishes to share of the pickled veggies and kimchi. The cucumber and sprout dishes are my top picks -- I love subtle heat, and the briny / acidic flavors. I always have a couple bites of the kimchi, but that's all I can handle (fermented cabbage and chilis). For my main entree, I had the beef bulgogi, which came with a side of white rice, but I focused on the meat. It was tender, caramelized, and packed with a rich barbecue-like flavor. I also had bites of the squid, octopus (amazing, I have to admit!), the crispy chicken... sorry I don't know/remember the Korean dish names. If you're an adventurous eater, this is a great place to go with friends and try several different varieties of seafood/fish/meats and delicious classic Korean entrees. The space is open, bright -- almost sterile w/ the florescent lights, and lots of room for groups.

Yelp
I love Young's Korean. More than I love some of my friends. It was the second place I tried Korean food at and the only reason I still eat it. Their bulgogi/kalbi - perfectly caramelized and served sizzling hot. Ask for lettuce on the side so you can layer the beef with the banchan, top it with the slightly spicy red paste they give you with the lettuce and chomp away for a delicious textural contrast. Perfect for hot summer days. Want something that warms you up in cool/cold weather that permanently hangs over this town? I recommend the Bulgogi Dukbaigi (chopped up bulgogi in a slightly sweet/salty broth). If you feel adventurous and like spicy food, order the shrimp yachebokkeum. But seriously. It is spicy. Not like "General Tso Chicken" spicy but more like you might potentially experience a low level of double burn spicy. But if you are going to let something lame like the double burn get in between you and a great dish, well......then you are probably sane. I have ordered similar dishes at Sodam and Seoul Garden - they don't even come close (they use way too much gochujang in their "spicy" dishes) . Young's also has the largest selection of banchan. The service is friendly, albeit at times a touch slow because they always seem busy. While I cannot speak to the authenticity of Young's, I have observed that at least 80% of the people eating there are usually Korean. You can take my word for it as it must be abundantly clear at this point that I eat here. A lot. The drawbacks are that they are $2-4 more than the other 2 Korean places in town and the decor/ambiance that I can only describe as a stereotypical office crossed with a karaoke lounge (sparkling ceilings, anyone?). Fortunately, I love sparkling ceilings and I am in denial about the prices. Seriously. Go there, start with the seafood pancake. Order something as basic as their fried rice( that is topped with a fried egg.). I sincerely doubt you will be disappointed.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the waitresses are sweet! Best Korean I've had in Rochester, I've been to South Korea and it tastes almost the same.

Yelp
Young's is not a place to go to in the dead of winter when, at baseline, you're in a post-Christmas rut, trolling the internet for Caribbean deals and contemplating violence when your alarm clock goes off every morning. The industrial strip mall location, harsh fluorescent lights, abundant artificial plants and "in-the-basement-of-a-hair-salon" feel may be just enough to push someone teetering on the edge of SAD depression over the edge. I didn't go over the edge, though. I grabbed hold of myself and steered onwards. Luckily, the food was delicious - seafood pancake, beef bulgogi, chicken bibimbap and plentiful banchan were all very tastily prepared. I do like the seafood pancake at Sodam more, however. Overall I wasn't disappointed with the meal. I must admit, though, ambiance is important, especially when dishes on average cost between $10-$16. If I'm getting something to go for under $12 a dish, it's no big deal that the place doesn't seem inviting. But honestly, when you're paying more than $25 per person, you want something that lifts your spirits a bit and provides a little escape from life. This is unlikely to be that type of establishment. But if you want a solid meal and don't mind that, it's a good choice.
