Houston's Restaurant & Bar Openings 2024

"This is YoYo’s Hot Dogs fourth move (at least) to a brick-and-mortar location around town, and the second off Washington. Here's hoping the king of the griddled and sauced-up Korean dog stays put and doesn’t move again. This glizzy is worth the chase, we just want a reliable address to pull up to late at night." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Popular Houston Hot Dog Cart Yoyo’s Will Open Its First Permanent Location | Eater Houston

"Founded in 2010 to elevate a universally cherished but often misunderstood food, this wildly popular late‑night cart became known for elaborately loaded all‑beef hot dogs and a massive cult following—fans have described the experience as “life‑changing,” “the dankest dogs in Houston,” and “a revolutionary hot dog experience.” Owner Danny “Yoyo” Kim refined a cooking method for all‑beef Nathan’s Famous franks that produces a crispy skin and an extra‑juicy, flavorful bite; diners then customize their dogs with toppings such as crunchy fried onions, curry ketchup, warm cream cheese, spicy mustard, and honey mayo. After launching at a Washington Avenue–adjacent bar and gaining notoriety in Rice Village (where footage shows long lines well past midnight), the operation expanded to a food truck, a College Station location, and a halal outpost in Sugar Land. Signage is up for its first standalone restaurant at 4620 Washington Avenue, with an opening date yet to be announced, and it’s expected to become a popular late‑night destination for nearby bar crowds." - Brittanie Shey

Google
Yoyo’s is a htx must try! I hate hotdogs but these are the only ones I’ll have bc the meat doesn’t taste/ feel cheap, it’s thick and full of flavor. Not a big fan of the black stuff the sausage is stuffed with but besides that they’re sooo good and the loaded fries are crack!! The location is small I usually take it home or eat in my car, my only complaint is no restrooms to use when having to wait.

If you love hot dogs like I do, this is definitely a place to stop by if you are visiting Houston. Different style of your traditional American hot dog. With a tangy and bold flavors. Only one style to choose from with a large beef sausage. And they offer some French fries with delicious thin slices of Korean BBQ meat as a toppings. But make sure you're not expecting to sit down because it is a take out and go menu.

Google
Good hot dog joint! Good late night craving food. Hot dog was fantastic 10/10, very flavorful. Fries 8/10, very not very crispy and not seasoned as well as would like. For the standard yo-yo dog and an order of fries I paid around ~12 All in all good, unique hot dog spot. 8.5/10 and would recommend if craving hot dogs in the city.

Let me tell y'all about a late-night craving i had. Let me set the scene: After a long shift at work, I knew exactly what I needed to set my soul right: Yo-Yo's Hot Dogs. I called ahead because I wasn't sure I'd make it before closing. I got Yo-Yo himself on the line (yes, THE man!) lol, and he was super cool. I told him I'd be a couple of minutes late, and he said, "No worries, I'll let them know." Already, I was feeling taken care of. Well... I just missed them. When I got there, I explained the situation, but one of the staff kindly told me Mama Yo-Yo had called it a night and the grill was closed. My heart sank but then something happened that reminded me why places like this are special. They didn't send me away empty handed. Instead, they handed me a courtesy Bulgogi Fries for the road. I was speechless. Who does that these days?! That small gesture made a big impact. They were hot, fresh, and absolutely scrumptious. I devoured them in the car. I came back the next day, as promised. And let me tell you those hot dogs were worth the wait. Perfectly grilled, loaded with flavor, and crafted with love. The ambience was lively, the service was top-tier, and the food? Simply amazing. Yo-Yo's isn't just a food spot, it's an experience. A family vibe, incredible customer service, and unforgettable eats. Whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth, they treat you like one of their own. Thank you, Yo-Yo's, for turning a missed meal into a memorable moment. I'll definitely be back. SIDE NOTE* They have 3 locations... At the POST, 2201 Dallas St

Google
Wonderful employees, quick service, and amazing tasting food. There isn’t a sit down area but everyone was hanging around their cars enjoying the great food. Personally we sat in the trunk of my SUV enjoying the sunset and dogs. The dog quality is top notch, super filling with one dog but I ate two. Fries were super crunchy. Only ask since I’m Hispanic is a spice add on even if it’s at a surcharge. 10/10 recommend!

Google

Google
Yoyo’s always takes care of me. On top of the food always hitting they genuinely care abt their customers and will always put in their best effort. They will bless you and look out for you as well when there’s an opportunity. This spot is a must for when you visit Houston and serve the BEST dogs in town. 10/10

Yelp
Good day folks! Little corner shop - open window to the kitchen - no booths - no chairs - that means we are eating outside in the parking lot! Nothing beats food you can eat sitting down on parking lot block or standing eating it off your car hood! We are 956 and street food has been part of us all my life. And hotdogs are a perfect street food and Yoyos makes a dammn good one. First time here so I made sure I ate that dog slowly and enjoyed their creation and new combination of flavors in my mouth. Young man taking our order was all about the Yo-Yo's vibe and made sure we knew we were stepping into a special unique place. Thank you Yoyo's Let Love Lead!

Yelp
Rating: 3.3/5 [take out] We got the beef bulgogi fries ($7) to share as a snack for our group of four. It's like an Asian-Mexican fusion twist. The fries were crispy, but I wasn't a fan of the bulgogi because it had a strange texture, almost like a mix between soft tofu and ground beef. The flavors were just okay, though we didn't add cheese, which might have made a difference.

Yelp
classic, delicious houston hot dog I used to go to YoYos when it was a cart late night in rice village and the brick and mortar is just as good. The hours have been a little strange but they're pretty standard now, evening-late night. Per the menu- " a bun spread with cream cheese, all-beef hotdog, caramelized onions, fried onions, hot sauce, honey, and mayo." It is perfect, it is filling, and it is the same every time. Service at this location is a little slow considering it's a hot dog, but they make the order right in front of you which is nice No tables and chairs, you order, get your food, and leave. Service is friendly and to the point, and there's also a window for late night orders.

Yelp
Capped off a night of pickleball with Houston's iconic Yoyo's hotdogs. I first tried them when they used to be in rice village. I went to their Washington Ave location at 1 am. They're a convenient late night spot since they close at midnight or 2. It's a tiny spot where you order for takeout. They have basically no dine in room available. I got their yo-yo hotdog which is topped with cream cheese, caramelized onion, crunchy fried onion, honey mayo, and hot sauce. I remember back then they had other toppings like curry ketchup. Our order came out pretty fast and the hotdogs definitely hit the spot. A little expensive especially compared to their old price back then but it is very tasty and filling. I also tried some bulgogi fries and they were solid as well.

Yelp
I dream of these hot dogs. The new location gets you taken care of quickly. If you're in Houston, STOP BY!!!

Yelp
Honestly, great service, owner, smoky hot dog with crisp, kick, and caramelized onions, great for any time of the day, and a late-night eatery. A small shop that is packed with many favorite and loyal customers. The only thing that I can't get around is the price, 8 dollars for a hot dog, even if they added a bunch of toppings, is wild and cannot be justified in my opinion. Otherwise, it's a solid place, and I love the family-owned business aspect of it.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try these hot dogs since forever! I pass by and think about it often. I even see the location at The Post. We had just finished watching a movie at IPIC and was bummed they didn't have hot dogs on their menu. I love a good hot dog at the movies or the ballpark. We only ordered drinks and popcorn, so we headed off to find food. Finally had the opportunity while headed to Cava, and I saw YoYo's and convinced my bf for hot dogs instead. I win. Lol. No one was there when we arrived, but after we ordered, a bunch of groups started coming in. It's to-go only, and they sell a few canned drinks, water, and lemonade. The all-beef hot dogs are topped with caramelized onions, fried onion, honey mayo, and cream cheese. Yum. Clogged arteries, here we come! But oh so worth it! I got mine all the way, and my bf asked for no mayo or cream cheese. Por que?! He's more health conscious than me. We both enjoyed our versions. It was so hard to resist not scarfing it down in the car on the way home. I'm glad we tried it, and there wasn't the usual line. We'll be back!

Yelp
Nut allergy friendly: They serve one dish here, and it doesn't have any nuts! Order to Hot Dog: less than 6 minutes It's a 5/5 spot if you've never been, but a 4/5 if you've had the old Yoyo's. Maybe that's just my nostalgia talking, though. Houston natives remember the days when we had to line up in Rice Village for 45+ minutes on a humid summer evening for a hot dog at Yoyo's hot dog stand. How the times have changed! The price is now $8 instead of the old $4-5, but the charm is still there. Yoyo's is the great equalizer, where people of all nationalities and socioeconomic background meet to get an amazing late night bite. The hot dog in general feels smaller than it used to be. I think it's less loaded with caramelized onion than it used to be, and the hot dog itself is smaller. They don't make them like they used to, but it's still a banger of a hot dog. We've traded a 45+ minute wait in line for a smaller and more expensive hot dog. Best enjoyed while intoxicated or after midnight. I'll be back, though I hope they can continue loading the hot dog with the delicious toppings. Edit: I had a problem with billing and called in and the OG Danny himself set me right. He's still got it, 10/5 service.

Yelp
This is a really good hotdog. I love onions but I can't taste the onions. Maybe they cooked all the flavor outta them. The meat is flavorful but value is lacking at $8 per hotdog. Still, it's one of the best hotdogs I've ever had.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally tried YoYo hot dogs! hot dog and bun itself 10/10 delicious. One of the best hotdogs I've had. Special toppings 4/10. Those carmelized onions are burnt. They are a deep black pile. They disintegrate they are such mush and really don't add any flavor. Did like the crispy onions. The sweet sauce was eh. Loved their mustard The reason I give 3 stars is the value. -1 for the "carmelized onions" and -1 for it being $8 no matter if you get the special toppings or not
google avatar

Yelp
Some dang good Seattle style hot dogs if you're OK with the $8 price point. Seattle style = cream cheese in the hotdog. Don't knock it till you try it!!They churn the food out really quick so it is PIPING hot. No seating, but it's meant to be an in-and-out with your order vibe. We come back every time we're at the bars nearby. Def Woll be back!

Yelp
Yoyo's is truly phenomenal. I've had their hot dog at least a dozen times and it never ceases to amaze me. I'm waiting on one as I type! I'm so excited!

Alejandro V.

Yelp
Dude at the counter was making a business deal with the customer in front of me taking FOREVER and tried to get me to invest in some real estate while spiting all over my food. Really unprofessional, needs to be fired so he can focus on his other endeavors.

Yelp
Great customer service! The food was amazing, excellent, delicious wonderful!!! Nice and clean inside! Just go try them out!
google avatar

Mantis T.

Yelp
$8 for a hot dog is CRAAZZYY, you could get a meal at shack shack for around that much. The hot dogs were great at $4, but $8 and no Yoyo in sight just ain't worth it. Somehow the cart felt more official than the brick and mortar.
google avatar

Staci J.

Yelp
Consistent and amazing! They are nice and the wait is not long. I am glad this store front exist. We've been eating Yo-yo's for many many years.

Kenneth T.

Yelp
The food cannot be beat. Best hot dogs in Htown, they open late. The fries are so good too!
google avatar

Montana D.

Yelp
Man!!! If I knew how to make these at home EXACTLY how they do it here.....I'd make these a couple of days a week! In the meantime, I'll GLADLY pay the $8.00 for them to put these flavors together for me to enjoy. Such a flavorful hotdog. It was hot. It was fresh. I devoured it in the car in front of the spot, lol! The guy who took my order was all smiles and polite. Based on the amount of ppl that were there at the time, I got my hotdog in less than 5 minutes.

Yelp
After a night of partying, these hotdogs hit the spot! Very flavorful, tasty and delicious! The service is quick and the ambiance is simple! Giving street food vibes with passion! One is enough although I ate 1.5.

Bryan B.

Yelp
Service. Foods great. Driving by saw no line so I decided to stop. Guess they had to go out back and kill a calf. Needs better time management

C H.

Yelp
Amazing hotdogs so unique and flavor. The atmosphere was really cool to watch them design the dogs! They were made quickly. Definitely will be coming back and telling my friends!!!
