Best Taco Tuesday Spots in New York City | Eater

"A longtime East Village mainstay, Yuca Bar offers a daily happy hour from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and currently offers takeout and delivery. Sip refreshing cocktails like the Yuca Sunrise (a blend of frozen margarita and sangria) to stay cool while you munch on Latin American dishes like arepas, ceviches, and of course tacos — with fillings ranging from octopus to shredded chicken." - Vox Creative

The food and atmosphere here are both very nice. Most of the food was flavorful and well-prepared — the ceviches were especially delicious, full of vibrant flavor. The drinks were also great. However, I would not recommend the guacamole. It was literally just mashed avocado — no onion, tomato, cilantro, or seasoning. Very bland and disappointing compared to everything else we had. We did have an issue with the service. We ordered another appetizer that never arrived, and about 55 minutes into our meal, the waiter came by and asked if we were going to order anything else. We were still eating and drinking, so I assumed maybe the kitchen was closing, but it was only 7:30 PM. When I said we weren’t ready to order more at that moment, he cleared our table — and then told us we couldn’t order anything else because the table was reserved for someone else. This was very confusing and disappointing, especially since the restaurant was still more than half empty. We had ordered a lot, and I had planned to order another drink, possibly dessert. Instead, we were rushed out in a very unprofessional way. It left a bad impression, and while the food (aside from the guacamole) was excellent, this experience really changed how I feel about coming back. I ended up going to another nearby spot to finish the night. It’s a shame, because I genuinely enjoyed the food and drinks, but the service made it hard to want to return.

Google
A good experience for sure… good customer service and food was seasoned well… drinks were nice as well.. Had the chicken empanadas, French fries, two salmon dinners and yuca tai drinks and mule. Don’t have pic of the chicken empanadas but they were tasty they cut the empanada into four pieces. The two sauces provided that orange one is so good not sure what it was either forgot to ask!! Think the bathroom needs a change but everything else was great The waitress was so cute she gave two shots because it was anniversary

Loved this place. I had been here a few years back. They did a lovely renovation to the restaurant. The art work is very nice. The space is vibrant. They have a great Happy Hour. The service is very good. The drinks are very good. Their food is equally delicious. I will definitely be back.

Google
The service was okay. I gave it a 3-star rating because I have been here before and have gotten better service than this. The atmosphere was loud, and it felt like I was screaming the whole time. It was a hot Friday afternoon with no fan or AC. I usually order a coconut mojito, but I decided to order something different and was unsatisfied. The food did not disappoint; it was delicious and cooked well. The yucca fries do not disappoint. Our waitress told us we only had an hour and 30 minutes; however, it was not busy besides a few tables around us.

I had another wonderful experience at Yuca Bar! The food was absolutely delicious, I ordered the churrasquinho with rice and tostones, and every bite was packed with flavor. The waiter was so attentive and friendly, which made the meal even better. I always enjoy coming here, and this visit was no exception. Definitely one of my go-to spots, and I’ll keep coming back!

Yuca Bar & Restaurant brings vibrant fusion Latin American flavors to NYC! Enjoy classic dishes with a modern twist in a lively and stylish setting. A great spot for a taste of the Caribbean. Don't miss their happy hour.

Google
Came here with a friend on a beautiful September afternoon. Sat inside and got some Happy Hour drinks . I think the frozen or regular Margarita was $7 and $2 extra for flavor. I got a coconut frozen Margarita with tajin which made it a bit spicy. My friend enjoyed his regular Margarita. The best drink was the frozen Caipirinha with lime and mint . Wow ! That is delicious. Also had guacamole and chips with 3 different colors of chips . Pretty tasty and came with Pico de Gallo too. Staff are extremely friendly and cool . This is a lively place with a great Latin soundtrack. Probably good for Birthday parties too . I was here at 3pm on a Friday and Happy Hour was in effect (even at the tables. )

Google
love this place! although not specified on the menu, lots of the food is naturally gluten free and vegetarian friendly :) staff is so kind and also the drinks taste great for a great price! no need to reserve week days from my experience but reserve on the weekends!!!

Yelp
Pablo G is always attentive and efficient. He greets his customer with enthusiasm and makes really good drinks. The atmosphere is always a vibe. The playlist plays a variety of tunes, which fits the crowd of people. As for food, I usually get the calamari (which is amazing).

Yelp
I think I was here years ago, and it looks like it's been remodeled with an updated menu since then. This is a great spot. The decor is colorful and festive. The bartenders are social, attentive, and skilled at making drinks. It was hard to choose because everything looked so good. I came with a birthday group, and the staff made sure we had great seating. The windows opened to the outside, so we could still hear the music from inside. I would definitely come back, but with so many places in this area, I'll have to plan to hit a few more while I'm around. I do have to take away one star because the slaw on my fish tacos was overwhelming. Honestly, they would be better without it. Shout out again to the bartenders. They are the stars of this place!

Yelp
Strong, delicious drinks with yummy yuca fries? I'm in! Plus available outdoor seating with great people watching! Yuca Bar is perfect place to grab an adult beverage and a quick bite to eat before a concert. Staff was attentive and friendly. Menu could use more vegetarian options. I tried to order plain (cheese) quesadillas but was told they only had meat quesadillas. As a vegetarian who can't eat raw veggies, I was left with the veggie burger as my only option. Happily, the veggie burger was really good! But honestly, if I go back, I'd just get the fantastic yuca fries and coconut margaritas.

Yelp
We made a last minute stop for dinner here an early Sunday evening. I panicked because we didn't have a reservation, luckily we were seated right away. We started with their garden salad which was phenomenal. I still dream about it. I'm upset that it's the only thing I didn't take a picture of and truly regret it to this day. The service was good and food was really delicious. My husband liked his sangria. My frozen mango margarita could have been a little stronger. Otherwise, it was a truly great evening. The restaurant is so welcoming and cozy. Would return again and again. This was our third time there. The last time was about six years ago.

Yelp
They have a GREAT happy hour and it's also available on the weekend. Latin bar playing Latin music, tropical decor and outside tables available. The bartenders are personable and prompt!

Yelp
Solid spot. Let me start by saying that the drinks were fantastic. The margarita that I had - and I'm not a margarita drinker - was very good and everyone at our table really enjoyed their drinks. The chips and salsa we started with were good as well, fairly basic but no complaints. For my main I had the octopus which was quite good, but was nothing over the top. Service was good as well. We did have to ask for our waters to be filled a couple times but that's all right. Ambience was perfect for what we were looking for - a chill spot to grab some drinks and food on a Wednesday night. Overall, we'll definitely come back to Yucca bar for drinks. I don't know that we'll come running back for food though.

Yelp
I came here with a group of 6 and got seated outside immediately! The service was quick but the tables were definitely a little too small for all we ordered! We all shared the espresso BBQ ribs, yuca fries, paella, ceviche, chips and guac, empanadas, and yuca croquetas!

Yelp
Fun place to sit oitside for happy hour on a nice day! It's pretty much always crowded and lively. Happy hour dranks were sweet and tasty. Have been here once for dancing on a Saturday probably about a year ago and there was a cover and it was fun and crowded but very young!
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant combines friendly service with perfect ambiance. The menu features only same-day preparations. The staff knows details while maintaining focus on you. Their rates remain competitively low. The time here was remarkably good.

Melisa M.

Yelp
I loved it here! the service was great and attentive on a saturday morning. The food was yummy and just the amount of portion needed for a good brunch. I loved the steak. It was fairly busy inside so make sure to get a reservation. At night they turn it into a bar with a dance floor.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Located just off St. Marks, Yuca Bar offers a similar east village vibe but without the craziness of the main street. Their sangria pitcher has tons of fresh fruit which only prepares you for late at night when the restaurant flips into a dance club.

Yelp
I came to this establishment like 10 years ago. And just went this week for my mom's bday. Didn't make reservations because it was on a Tuesday like most places aren't crowded lol Anyway got there like 6 table for 3 only 2 of us were there at the time and we were able to sit . (Some places make you wait until your full party is there) it was nice and warm in there thank god because it was freezing out. We didn't know they had so many specials like 1/2 tacos and 30% off the tapas. And obviously happy hour which we knew about until 8. Me and my mom had margaritas hers with salt mine without. Omg! Strong as hell. Definitely worth it. We started with the tapas until my son arrived. My mom got the yuca croquettes. Delicious! I ordered the chicken skewers it came with white rice . They burnt my onions and peppers a bit , not a big deal because the chicken was so flavorful. The sauce it had was delicious. My son arrived he ordered his Mexican cola lol he ordered from the tapas the Cubano sliders . He said they were good . I ordered the chicken tacos they only form in corn tortillas which i don't love but these were like cooked and had like a great crunch they were very good. My mom got the fish tacos. I didn't catch the waitress name but she told us she was from our home town in Puerto Rico (Mayaguez) she was a delight from the start. She was Theo not waitress I noticed with the help of the guy that kept filling our waters. My son brought my mom flowers and the kind guy brought out an ice bucket with water to put the flowers in. That was so cute and thoughtful. They also helped us embarrass my mom by singing happy birthday with the most delicious flan I've ever had. Thank you so much we will definitely come again

Yelp
Can only speak to the drinks as I came for happy hour.. but 100% worth it for happy hour. Goes until 8 every day and has solid deals on all types of drinks. Even their specialty cocktails qualified and were $9 each! Their Tequila Espresso Martini was sooooo good. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good HH in the area.

Yelp
The drinks and service are great! Every day happy hour from 4-8pm!!! The octopus is a must order! It was sooo good, very tender and flavorful. The tuna ceviche was a large portion the entire coconut is full of tuna! The sweetness of the coconut mojo and saltiness of the chips was a great combo. The steak was a bit underseasoned and the mashed potatoes tasted like boxed mash. The salmon was okay but the cilantro rice was absolutely delicious!!! All in all, it's a fun vibe with great music, drinks, and apps! I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Asia T.

Yelp
The best spot for happy hour in the 'hood. Been going here for 8+ years, and have observed some changes since the pandemic- largely the pared down menu. Happy Hour lasts until 7pm M-F and turns into a club on some evenings. I like to sit in the outdoors patio space and people watch. Food (including tacos) is so so, but the enchilada suizas is very good.

Yelp
Always a great vibe! Food drinks and the environment is insane!! Our Bartender Samuel is dope as hell!

Yelp
Delicious food. We tried several dishes. The platanos con lechon were amazing. Yuca croquettes were incredible. Seafood paella was a big hit. We also had ceviche tacos and the bbq ribs, everything was delicious. Topped it off with a pitcher of white sangria and an amazing flan dessert on a beautiful warm day. Just try it. You will not regret it.

Yelp
Went there with a party of 10. With the expectation to order lots of food and drinks. Including food to take home as it was a company event and we had a high spending budget. We were going to have one more round of drinks for the table and were told No and the bill was given to us. We got kicked out of the place before even finishing our event. I'm not sure how they expected a party of 10 to finish eating drinking and ordering food within an hour and a half. When I explained to the manager that we only wanted one more drink he said we can go the bar. how are we all going to fit in that crowded bar. Food was uneventful I had the steak that tasted pretty bland and kind of dry. I would never go here again and will not recommend.

Shaina M.

Yelp
So I got a rec from a friend to come here and I went with a friend for their happy hour. I checked the website before showing up and we got seated pretty quickly but then when the waiter came, we ordered drinks and he said we needed to order food as well. And that happy hour is only available if you order an app AND an entree (or just the entree). And we told him the host never told us that before seating, and the waiter said "it's all over our homepage". It is not. I ordered us some guac and he still insisted on us needing to order an entree, and said he'd talk to the manager if this was ok, after we got our drinks. So he "allowed" us to order the guac and then scolded us saying on the weekend it's 1 hr seating to keep things moving fast and that it's on the homepage and just so we know their policy in the future. That gave us both such an ick and it wasn't a great way to start. The drinks were ok, but when the guac came out (which I wanted to order in the first place but the concern was why $14 for guac?), it was the saddest pastelike guac I have ever had. Needless to say, really not cool to bait and switch people. If we had been told this is the policy and there was some sort of written version anywhere, we would have politely just gone elsewhere.

Yelp
Dominican Pablo is the best!! Love this spot so much. Such a great neighborhood spot. Loved the sangria.

Yelp
An East Village jaunt serving up Latin American tapas -- stopped in for a HH on a Friday evening and was able to get seated immediately. The service is pretty fast and the outdoor patio is lovely in the summer. The Guacamole and Pico de Gallo were delicious -- especially loved the plantain chips in the mix. The frozen margaritas were alright, my friend's mango was better than the watermelon but both felt on the weaker side. I'd opt for on the rocks next time!

Tarneka M.

Yelp
This is a review for 6-29-25. I went for happy hour. I got nine dollar mojito and Pina colada which was twelve dollars, both were frozen. It was just what I needed on that hot steamy day. I also ordered arenas. They were dense but overall good. I had a shrimp quesa which was yummy as well. It was a nice experience only compliant was it was warm inside but after awhile my body adjusted to the temperature.

Yelp
Stopped by with a group of friends on Friday night to grab some drinks as we were checking out the East Village area. The drinks we got here were good but one unfortunate issue we had was with the security guards when we walked in as they wanted the men in the group to pay the $20 cover charge while the girls didn't have to which I thought was incredibly stupid. We did eventually get in and avoided paying the cover charge but it took us threatening to leave for them to change their mind which shouldn't have been an issue from the start. The atmosphere was lively and the staff at the bar were friendly and got our drinks out quick. We didn't order any food but it looked good after seeing the servers bring out plates of food to some of the tables. There's plenty of seating for tables/groups but we just were hanging around the bar. I would recommend coming here for drinks if you are in the area but fair warning, they might make bigger parties pay a cover charge to get in later in the night.

Yelp
Yuca Bar has been around for ages and it's easy to see why. It's been consistently delicious over the years, providing great quality food, super friendly service, and a nice ambiance that has a bit of old-school East Village left to it. We live a block away and, admittedly, hadn't been for a long time, but it was so nice tonight that I'm reminded why I always liked it, and plan to go back more often. The red sangria is delicious - I used to have their secret recipe - it has a real kick to it! Our niece had the fish tacos and said they were great, and my husband had the paella and it was really delicious. For example, the calamari had been grilled, giving them real charred flavor and not just limp rubber rings - it was excellent. And the service couldn't have been nicer. It was fairly busy but not crowded, and the mood was just right for a Sunday night meal. An old standby that has aged very well, it's an asset to have Yuca Bar in our neighborhood.

Yelp
One of the only places open at 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon and we were so happy we wandered in. Pablo Garcia was an amazing bartender and the drinks were on point. We were sad we had other plans for dinner because the food smelled and looked amazing. Will definitely visit again the next time we are in Manhattan.

Yelp
This place was made for the East Village, with their incredible happy hour specials, vaguely Latin American menu, and blaring loud music. Forget about trying to get a table here on a summer night, because the East Village crowd will beat you to it, and who can blame them. Unlike many of the other similar eateries along this stretch of Alphabet City, the food at Yuca Bar is actually quite strong. Dining at Yuca Bar is more for the party than it is to enjoy a quiet meal among friends, but what a bonus it is to actually like the food. The namesake yuca fries are fresh and come with delicious sauces, but it was the yuca salmon that actually surprised me most. The salmon had a yuca crust and was served with veggies in a tomato chipotle sauce that was equal parts smoky and umami filled. I paired this with a delicious coconut mojito, which was on the sweeter side but gave me a nice buzz, which is all I cared for. We were sat outside on a hot night but the cocktails and overhead fans kept us cool, and our server was really sweet and helpful with our order. I can see why Yuca Bar has been crowded on most nights since they opened almost two decades ago.

Yelp
Pablo Garcia is the besttttttt!! Domi unity!! 12/10, would come back!! Our drinks were amazing, top tier recommendations!!

Yelp

Yelp
Came here for dinner with my wife and a night out. Vibes were immediately on point. Got the octopus which was okay. Waitress was very friendly. I really liked the fact that they played great music and it turned from dinner to dancing and drinks after a certain time.
