Yummy House

"Crowds still clamber to fill the seats at this spacious, no-frills eatery, whose sizable menu presents ample options for a range of tastes. Diners can find contentment with familiar American-Chinese staples, like orange chicken and salt-and-pepper fried calamari (or tofu). However, dishes like clay pot-braised fish have their own unique, earthy appeal. During lunch hours you’d be well-advised to select from the separate dim sum menu, which features typical bites like dumplings and turnip cakes, as well as sweet regional specialties like pineapple buns and Hong Kong-style egg tarts. Thanks to the popularity of the original, a number of offshoots can be found throughout southern Florida, including a more upscale one in South Tampa." - Michelin Inspector

I had to see what the Michelin Recommendation and all the buzz was about. And Yummy House lived up to the hype! I wouldn’t even compare it to your neighborhood “China.” Every dish bursts with freshness and intense flavors. Start w the Salt and Pepper Shrimp and savor the extra crispies on your other dishes(or take it home as we did). The Yummy Spicy Chicken is a must have (and it is built to share). The Salt and Pepper Pork Chops and the Honey Walnut Shrimp were also a refreshing new Chinese experience and large portioned for family style dining.

We stopped by this Michelin star dim sum spot in Tampa and everything hit the spot! We were the first table of the day and within 15 minutes, the space were filled up real quick. The staff were really nice and brought out the food super fast. The chicken feet were flavorful and tender, the BBQ pork bun was soft with just the right amount of sweetness and it’s now on my favorite list. We Loved the crispy fried taro because it’s not greasy. The pork rice congee was comforting, perfect balance of flavor. The BBQ pork steamed rice roll was smooth and savory, and the shu mai were juicy. We had a wonderful experience. This place offer a great variety, tasty food, and good portions, definitely a nice place to satisfy a dim sum craving in the Tampa area.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Wonderful Dining Experience — Truly Worth the Michelin Recommendation! I recently visited Yummy House China Bistro in Tampa, and it was absolutely worth the trip. The restaurant has a clean, modern, and inviting design — bright interiors, comfortable seating, and a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. The colorful mural on the wall adds a cheerful touch, while the elegant Chinese calligraphy gives the space an authentic cultural charm. The food was outstanding. Every dish was bursting with flavor — fresh ingredients, well-balanced seasoning, and authentic Cantonese taste. You can really tell the chefs care about quality and presentation. The portions were generous and served hot and fresh. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. From the moment I walked in, they greeted me warmly and provided excellent service throughout the meal. They made great recommendations and ensured everything was just right. It’s no surprise this place has received a Michelin Recommended recognition — it truly deserves it. Whether you’re a fan of Chinese cuisine or simply looking for a great dining experience in Tampa, Yummy House is a must-try. I’ll definitely come back again!

Very busy on a Sunday morning, but excellent experience. We were a little concerned due to the reviews mentioning the attitude of some servers, but we were fortunate and enjoyed tasty food with excellent service. All of the staff we encountered, even those on the dim sum carts, were friendly and helpful. This restaurant actually serves Hong Kong style noodles, which has been a challenge to find around here. In addition, as a vegetarian, I was very happy since this location works with the customer regarding dietary restrictions (the Yummy House on Dale Maybry would not allow any vegetarian substitutions, so I will not visit that location again). The portions from the regular menu are quite generous. And now the details: We arrived around 1130am on Sunday, and the wait was under half hour for a table for 2. Parking was bit challenging, but we managed to get the last available spot, albeit a bit tight. When you walk in, you must check in electronically at the kiosk to the right, as there is no traditional host/hostess waiting at the front. Dim sum is not very vegetarian friendly, so we ordered off the regular menu. Although, when the dim sum cart came around, we couldn't resist the sesame balls - so yummy! The lychee tea was quite refreshing since it wasn't overly sweet and the mango popping boba is my favorite. The salt and pepper tofu is delish! I imagine any of the salt and pepper appetizers should be yummy. The mixture of garlic, pepper, and scallions is just divine. The seafood fried rice was quite good and had a nice portion of scallops and shrimp. I have been searching far and wide for Cantonese or Hong Kong style noodles, so when I saw it on the menu, I figured I'll ask if they can make a vegetarian version. I was so happy when I told it was no problem! They swapped the chicken for tofu, and it included a healthy portion of veggies like bok choy, mushrooms and carrots. The sauce is a bit mild on flavor, but I used some of the love from the salt and pepper tofu along with the chilli oil and it was delicious! The top dry portions of noodles were crispy, and the saucy parts were also tasty. Jimmy, our young server, was super helpful, kind, and checked in with us regularly. I especially appreciate that even though they were so busy, he was patient with my questions and gladly accommodated my customized dish request - thank you to the kitchen staff too! Jimmy even showed me which dim sum dishes were vegetarian friendly (there are not many meatless dishes, although it should be great for those that enjoy seafood or meat). For those not familiar with dim sum, it's sort of like tapas (smaller portions of each dish, but it's a great opportunity to try a variety of dishes), and the servers come around wheeling carts of food with various offerings. You tell them what you want, and they mark it on the paper on your table. The dishes are grouped according to the size and the cost of each dish correlates to the size grouping. The dining room is quite big, but it is noisy, especially during dim sum. But the hustle and bustle and huge line at the door makes it all so very exciting! I can't wait to come back and try other vegetarian dishes :)

We decidedly held off for about 3 months and opted to go to Yummy House China Bistro for our first Chinese food experience in Tampa, Florida. We were happy with our experience as Yummy House definitely delivered when it came to the flavor profile of all their dishes. The Yummy House-Hillsborough Ave was the closest one to us from Lutz and definitely worth the drive for a dine-in Chinese restaurant. The first hot-take on the restaurant from the outside along with the interior design and relative aspects gives off "Asian-fusion" vibes. There is definitely a very modernistic appeal from the overall design and ambiance inside the restaurant. There seems like a banquet-type setting available for large parties or private gatherings. The waiters/servers also come around with tablets to take your order which again, gives off a "fusion-y " vibe. However, the menu and food immediately removes any confusion or doubt on the authenticity of the cuisine. When it comes to Chinese cuisine, Yummy House definitely takes on the Cantonese style influence. The dead-give away is with the snow pea tips menu item and dish (which is an outstanding vegetable dish by the way). Additionally, there is a good section of salt and pepper dishes which also warrants recognition (their calamari is definitely done in this style - while deep fried, there is a slightly sweeter taste, whilst garnished with fried garlic and shallot bits along with spicy peppers so different than what you would find at an Italian restaurant or pizzeria). The plates are definitely served family style and portions, respectively which was nice. As a family of 4, we were more than satiated with an appetizer dish, a soup (crab meat corn - a hit with our oldest daughter), a meat (sizzling beef short ribs and asparagus) and a vegetable dish (snow pea tips with roasted garlic). All these had great flavor. The beef short ribs deserved special acknowledgement with its rich but not overbearing flavor and sauce while the garlic cloves in snow pea tips were tender and delicious. Overall, Yummy House China Bistro is great place to take your family for a Chinese dinner!

I went there for lunch and there's a bit of a wait time when I got there. I guess that's a good sign meaning people love to go to this place. After being seated my waitress attended immediately and ask what drink to start with. I've ordered 4 items but ended only getting 3 since the last one took a long time to get so I ended cancelling it. My drink is always filled up whenever its almost empty and the staff are very attentive if you ever need anything. Food is good, just as I expect it to be for a dim sum place. And they do have one small serving of rice, something other dim sum doesn't offer.

We went today and there was a bug in our food. The server was so rude when we brought it up to her. The Hispanic waitress with redness brown hair in a bun and black glasses is the worse server I’ve ever had ESPECIALLY when there was a bug in the food. She has no hospitality skills at all. No “hi” or “sorry about that” just pure attitude. Terrible terrible terrible. I’ve been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and never have I had such horrible service. Seriously FIRE HER.

Google
This was our first visit and we were all impressed and satisfied with our meals. Our server was very kind and provided good options and descriptions of all the entrees. I rated the food 4 stars just because the amount of my order seemed small for the price. However I must admit, the food very very tasty. I have nothing negative to say about the food, service and atmosphere.

Yelp
Yummy House China Bistro in Tampa is delicious. We celebrated my friend's birthday and we wanted to indulge in Chinese food~ Yummy House was a great pick! The food was delicious and the service was fast. It can get pretty loud inside, but that didn't take away from the food. My favorite dishes were the orange chicken and beef noodles. Yummy!

Yelp
The Real Deal for Authentic Chinese Cuisine! If you're looking for an authentic Chinese food experience in Tampa, look no further. This is the place where all the locals eat, and it's easy to see why! The atmosphere is genuine and unpretentious, which lets the incredible food speak for itself. The crab meat soup is an absolute must-have and my personal go-to order--it's flavorful, comforting, and perfectly prepared. I also highly recommend the duck and the chicken wings; both are exceptional and full of taste. This isn't your typical Americanized Chinese takeout. This is the real deal. For anyone wanting to experience true, traditional flavors, this hidden gem is a can't-miss destination. I will be back again and again

Yelp
Yummy! House is one of my go-to Chinese places. However there has been some changes there lately. I really did like the ambiance with the big tables tables with the tablecloths. Overall our food tasted good. We had the house fried rice which I will give a 5/5. Shrimp and broccoli was good. Nothing special. Probably won't order again 4/5. We also ordered the appetizer pork which is sliced. It was okay. Some of the pieces were a little hard. Something else that we probably will not order again. Service was great and the restaurant appeared to be clean. Mongolian beef. I really love the favor and the vegetables. However, they are adding way too much onion, not enough meat for the price of $18.99. you can see this in my pictures as well. If I have a suggestion, please have the cooks look at the way they prepare the Mongolian beef. This is an item I always order.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday and only had to wait about 5 minutes. Ordered house lo-mein and house noodles. Both were good and came out quickly. Also got thai milk tea which wasn't the greatest. The location is nice and clean. Note: they do not allow you to change out the entree ingredients

Yelp
Food was great and service was fast. The only down side was they do not include any white rice when you order a dish. The dishes are large and family style. Decor was nice.

Yelp
We were here twice Monday: Dimsum for breakfast and came back for dinner. Dimsum is good tasty. Dinner menu pretty good as well. Unfortunately, their Mongolian Beef was very salty

Yelp
Overall, comparing this restaurant from the SF Bay Area made this restaurant rating a little lower. For the price they were charging, I would expect the food to taste better. - Food: Vegetable fried rice was a little dry but flavor was good. Salt & pepper seasoning went well with the fried tofu flavor but presentation-wise, a smaller plate would have made it look less empty. Egg rolls were pretty small and flavor didn't taste great. Siu mai flavor was not bad compared to the SF Bay Area. - Service: on par with a normal dim sum restaurant - Ambiance: family friendly

Yelp
Stopped by this place while staying in Tampa. I enjoyed the food, it definitely satisfied my food cravings. We ordered the crab soup, seafood pan fried noodles, salt and pepper pork chop, and braised eggplant. My favorite was the eggplant, but everything else was overall good enough. Service was really fast, but it felt very rushed like they were trying to get you in and out. Aside from that, the inside was super nice and clean. There was a large parking lot outside.

Yelp
Came here during our visit to Tampa , of course when the craving for chine food came about. First impression was the place was clean and ambiance was nice. We started with hit and sour soup and that was how it should be, it even had shrimp and pork bits. The honey walnut shrimp was delicious but the chicken curry was a bit sweet. The eggplant with sauce tasted a little bland and the sauce too watery.. the rest was okay, salt and pepper squid and noodles.

Yelp
Dim sum for lunch. Great to share - large restaurant with plenty of seating. It was super quiet for lunch, We had congee, buns, shumai and sticky rice , it was all delicious and super fresh. Slow-ish service during lunch but they may have been understaffed.
google avatar

Mailoha A.

Yelp
Overpriced. Over oiled. Bad service. Braised eggplant & turnip cakes were so oily. The duck & pork buns were ok. $70 for a lunch for 2? Never again.

Yelp
authentic dim sum on a sunday! delicious food, efficient service, and a comfortable atmosphere. i was delighted to find this place and taste real cantonese-style cuisine. on a sunday afternoon, it was packed--super busy with a small lot. however, the wait time was surprisingly minimal and once seated our dishes came quickly. everything was super tasty and i can't wait to make this a regular spot!

Yelp
Food is fantastic!! Salt and pepper calamari is a must try!! Service can use a bit of work. Don't like that they take your cups for drink refils, wish they would bring a new cup.

Yelp
I've been here before, primarily for dim sum. My wife and I took some friends and their kids for lunch and Yummy didn't disappoint! Usually it's crowded on a Saturday for lunch but it wasn't this time. Nice! We ordered shunting, fried shrimp balls, pork ribs in bean sauce and some regular entrees like salt and pepper pork and their fried rice. Oh so good! The prices are reasonable and the amount they provide is filling. The service is quick and helpful. The restaurant is clean and modern. They have a bar which looks well stocked. Parking lot offers a lot of spaces but those spaces seem tight and small. Overall, this is the best dim sum in Tampa. Check them out!

Phillip R.

Yelp
Service was criminal: do not eat here. The host refused to seat me with plenty of tables available until a long wait. The waitress refused to get me pork chops explaining that too many people complained about them. I then ordered the most expensive beef short ribs plate which arrived with barely any meat below a pile of snow peas. I was given a half full cup of rice and when I asked for more they explained they would be charging me extra.

Yelp
Yummy House was a great dining experience. The Dim Sum options offered were varied with many traditional dishes. Our group of 6 was seated quite quickly despite it being a busy day. The food was excellent and service was great !
google avatar

Cookie R.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere, quick to seat you. Parking lot looks busy but it's big inside and there was no wait. Nice decor. Food took a little while to come out and it doesn't come out at the same time. This is good and bad because one person is eating hot food and others are waiting. The veggie fried rice was a disappointment but other dishes were given a "mmm mmmm this is great" on first bite.

Yelp
I lived in China for a bit, and I've had several friends who have as well. We all LOVE Yummy House! It's the most authentic Chinese food around, and I've never had a bad dish here. I absolutely recommend going for family style dining and trying lots of things (one per person is more than enough). You can't go wrong with the veggie of the day or the lotus root, and any of the sizzling pots are slammin'. Staff are great, and I've never had a bad service experience. I highly recommend!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this restaurant! Six of us went to dinner and enjoyed this place a lot! The portions were plentiful for our group AND so affordable for all that we got! When we first arrived, they offered us pineapple buns from their dim sum menu (which is not available during dinner hours) as we read through the menu. After coordinating what we were all going to eat (note: this is family style, which makes it better to try more things), we began to order our food. We had potstickers (not shown) and egg rolls (not shown) first and they were delicious! Perfect for when we were waiting for all the dishes. We enjoyed our beef lo mein, chicken fried rice, garlic chicken, sesame chicken, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, and Szechuan style pork. My absolute favorite was the Peking duck! I very much enjoyed my birthday dinner and can't wait to return one day to try out their dim sum!
google avatar

Yelp
I finally got there for my birthday and it was horrible.I don't usually give bad reviews but my friend also got the same they were pots filled with I had three shrimp I had two scallops and I had so much tofu that I had to remove it to even eat the rest and I love tofu but this was breaded and it tasted like a sponge. I can't believe that they even serve this my friend that Got the sesame chicken was shocked there was no flavor to it my other friend got the fried rice and that was the only highlight of the night after we got done two of us that got this sizzling pods eight the other items on the table because ours was so bad. I don't know how this plays gets good ratings honestly I never complain unless it's warranted we got there we waited 20 minutes for a table it was a birthday celebration nothing was done. appetizers one of which were the egg rolls which were spring rolls and they were fabulous and the other was the so called famous salt and pepper calamari and it tasted like rubbery funnel cake not good and what's up with no sauce at least give duck sauce and they don't carry Hot Mustard or the dip chips sad I should have gone up then but because it was a birthday we all sat there looking stunned. It was a long time before we got our meals and my husband got the sesame chicken which was just sweet and sour with a different sauce and the tiniest sprinkle of sesame you'll ever see and I and our friend got the sizzling everything which did nothing which didn't sizzle and was horrible my other friend got this as well and hated it the fried rice which we all ended up eating because the rest of the food was so bad was ok not worth the 125.It was supposed to be a celebration for a birthday and salt and pepper calamari is the signature dish and it tasted like we were eating just fried dough. The spring rolls were good but that's all that was. First off why do you have to pay a dollar for white rice if you order a meal, second why don't they have the two most common orders chow mein and shrimp and lobster sauce on the menu.Couldnt even get refills on drinks I so wish I went and celebrated my birthday at Carrabba's or Outback this was a huge disappointment

James C.

Yelp
5 stars, people are crazy to rate it any less. I have been going to their various locations for the past twelve years. I have never found a better Chinese restaurant. Not even close. They have the most flavorful dishes, well cooked everything, made from scratch everything, and very authentic.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday afternoon, after the lunch crowd and the place still had a few people. This is a large place and able to accommodate large parties. As we were seated one thing I noticed right away was a Dim Sum ( YAY!!) menu in addition to the regular & lunch Menu. The Dim Sum menu was not extensive but had the usual faves, Har-Gow, Shu-mei, Rice Rolls and Egg Tarts to name a few. Unfortunately no carts but still nice having Dim Sum available. On this visit, Dim Sum was our food choice and did not disappoint. The dim - sum were nice sizes, served hot and was very good. One of the better dim-sum's I have had in the central Florida area. The place does close down after the lunch hour (2:30PM) and it was nice we were not rushed out since lunch service was already over ( we didn't finish until aprox 2:50PM) Service was attentive and provided suggestions when asked. I will be adding this location in my rotation, one to visit again.

Yelp
I was shocked as to how crowded Yummy House was. It was the middle of the day and we waited for 40 min. I recommend coming during the week if possible, if you can't then the 40 min wait was worth it. The service was attentive and helpful in understanding how this restaurant works. I like how you can order your main dishes with your server while they have someone coming around with a cart offering you dim sum. To me that seems to be the most efficient way because we got our dim sum right away and didn't have to wait for our server who is already busy with such a crowd. The dim sum was delicious, one of the best that I've tried. For our main meal we ordered fried rice and the OX beef. The OX beef could have used a bit more seasoning but overall the beef and fried rice were tasty. Overall we had a great experience and worth the 40min wait. I 100% recommend, especially since they are features on the Michelin guide

Yelp
Great Chinese food restaurant option in Tampa. We we're hoping to have dim sum here but they only serve dim sum until 3pm I believe on weekends so we got their dinner entrees instead. Our waitress spoke Mandarin which was a plus and provided excellent recommendations. Service was great. We got the Buddha Delight which was vegetarian, hot and sour soup, drunken noodles, and fried rice. The options we relatively Americanized but still good. Would come back to try their dim sum.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Yummy House China Bistro on a weekday and decided to give it a try. There was a bit of a wait for our party of 12 on a Friday, but it was well worth it. Once seated, the employees were very attentive and helpful, ensuring our water cups never sat empty. The dim sum we ordered was very fresh and delicious, with everything arriving steaming hot. We had no complaints about any of the dishes. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
We order the Chicken fried rice for take out regularly. $12 and generous portion enough for two! We also like the cashew chicken .

Yelp
The food at yummy house is amazing restaurant with plenty of vegetarian options. We had the veggie lomein, veggie fried rice and tofu. Everything is delicious and the portions are great. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have authentic Chinese food. The service is top notch and the family style dining makes it a great experience for everyone.

The food was good and the service was great, atmosphere was nice and quiet. I ordered the shrimp fried rice with salt and pepper chicken.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place. First of all, I want to be clear that I was looking for American Chinese food. Not authentic dim sum. My girlfriend and sister concur in the 2/5 judgement. We ordered online on their website and it was seamless. When we arrived, the place was packed. There were 4 staff members diligently filling orders. Our large order was 100% correct. First, the wonton soup was not bad. It was flavorful and the wontons were tender and delicious. I did not personally eat the Kung Pao Chicken but my girlfriend and sister referred to it as "trash" and "bland." I will say it looks like a healthy choice. I had the orange chicken. I would describe it as carnival food. It was akin to a funnel cake with an orange marmalade sauce. Not very flavorful. It was more like a not so sweet dessert than the sweet and savory treat I was craving. The house lo mein was not bad. The flavor of the noodles were delicious but it had pieces of chewy pork. The calamari in the lo mein was unique and special. Overall, disappointing but edible. Maybe the dim sum is good and we just got the wrong things.

Yelp
Yummy House China Bistro's website literally says "Best Chinese Restaurants in Florida". It's not only a clever way to make sure the place pops up when someone Googles that but it also rings true. My wife and I had a short date night here and left impressed with the food. My wife and I needed a date night. Yummy House China Bistro seemed like a good place and we both are fans of Chinese. The reviews and research I did all said this place off Hillsborough Blvd was the best around. I made a reservation. I do suggest you make one too. My wife and I arrived to Yummy House for our 5pm reservation a few minutes early. A few cars were parked around but there were plenty of places to park. There was a line at the door. A handful of people were waiting for the clock to strike 5 and be the first in line. When an employee finally opened the door, people started exiting their cars. It was like waiting to get into a theme park or Best Buy on Black Friday. Well, not really, but still, this place had people waiting for them to open. That's a sign of the good food to come. I'm not sure we needed our reservation, but I let the host know we had one. We were seated and our server was around quick. She offered waters and we looked over the menu. Based on the website, I felt like this place would have been fancier on the inside. I expected a whole different vibe. Instead, the place is super simple. Concrete floors. Paper tablecloths. Two rows of tables lined a long room. A big window let a lot of natural light in. It wasn't cozy or refined. It was good enough. We looked over the menu and each picked out what we wanted. We got the crispy egg rolls for an appetizer. We initially were each going to order the chicken we wanted but after talking to the server, we realized the food is served family style. Everything is super large portions. One order of the Sesame Chicken was enough for us each to have two servings at dinner and had lunch for the next day. Same with the rice. One order of pork fried rice to share. The egg rolls were up quick. These were smaller than I expected them to be and looked more like spring rolls. My idea of an egg roll is bigger, crunchier and deep fried. These were small, slightly crispy with thin wonton wrapping. They were good though. We each got two. They were filled with savory, soft veggies. No meat. The dipping sauce they came with reminded me of duck sauce. It was sweet and made for a perfect balance of crispy egg roll to sweet, thick dipping sauce. Then came the two plates, one with the chicken and one with fried rice. From there, we spooned the food to our individual plates. The chicken was really good. Think about the last time you got takeout Chinese food from the place around the corner or tucked in the strip mall between the grocery store and the family dollar. Now think about that chicken being all white meat chicken, large chunks in a fresh, crispy, light fried breading. It was exactly as it should be. It came out piping hot and was well sauced. The honey sesame sauce was sweet and savory. It had the consistency of honey and clung to the meat smothering each bite in flavor. Adorned about was bits of steamed broccoli. There could have been more of those but that's a minor complaint. The fried rice was the best bbq pork fried rice we've ever had. It had small bits of bqq pork in it, enough to give it a strong flavor and a heartiness of its own. The eggs, green onion and cilantro added depth and consistency that was perfect. They had multiple different fried rice dishes to choose from, from chicken, pork, shrimp, you name it. You need to get the fried rice. All in all, I'd say check out Yummy House. This Chinese food restaurant does it right. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was fantastic and generously portioned. Well worth it.

Yelp
We were excited to try the restaurant but disappointed in the food. The orange chicken tasted more like a dessert. Not like any other orange chicken we've ever ordered. House rice was flavorless as was the chicken and broccoli. Sticky rice wasn't sticky funny but true. Dumplings were ok i guess; edible. Egg rolls were ok. Not bad. Overall not impressed. Th

Yelp
Probably will return. We had a take out a few months ago - I didn't realize it wasn't posted. Here they're - two dishes for take out were very sweet and I wouldn't return again. Today 2023.7.07, we came here again with our friends who love them. Decor: Simple and clean. Service is good but you need to raise your hand and keep it up in the air for a while. We've - Beijing duck - so so - pea tips with garlic - good - Mongolian beef - ok - spicy fish eggplant pot - not bad. The temperature is on the cold side. The Peking duck isn't really a Peking duck, just a cooked duck. The creep is thick hard and cold. The scallion is fresh, but no cucumber . They've a wine list.

Yelp
Best fried rice! This place has ruined all other Chinese food for my family. We drive 25 miles to eat at this restaurant and never regret it.

Yelp
Opted for the seafood fried rice with spicy xo sauce. I guess it's a pretty special sauce, as my brother wanted some on his house fried rice and it was a $3 upcharge. I wouldn't say it was really spicy but it had a lot of flavor and was delicious. We also tried the egg rolls as a starter. They were ok, pretty typical egg rolls but the rice was REALLY good. Service was friendly and fast. Very casual place and plenty of parking.

Yelp
Love coming here when in the mood for higher end Chinese food that's not your typical take out. We always get the Spicy Yummy Chicken and Pineapple fried rice. Good portions always cooked to perfection. Went in for dim sum during lunch hour on a weekday. Wasn't too busy. They didn't have those carts they have on weekends so it took some time for the food to come out. Thoroughly enjoyed all the different items!

Yelp
Hadn't been here in quite some time looking for good Chinese food. It was not what we remembered. The service was very good and the hot and sour soup excellent but the the rest of the food was just ok. Its hard to expect good Chinese food outside of New York City.

Yelp
Chinese Food Paradise in Tampa! My wife and I moved from Atlanta to Tampa earlier this year and have been looking for a great Chinese restaurant in the Tampa area. We decided on a last minute wim to give Yummy House China Bistro this evening for dinner. It was about a 15 mile drive from where we live so we were hoping that it would be worth the drive. When we arrived it was completely packed with about 25 to 30 people also waiting for tables (next time we will plan in advance and make a reservation) - usually you dont see this type of mass crowd at Chinese restaurants so we were intrigued by the popularity. We put our name on the waiting list and it was about 1 hour before we were seated so by this point we were really hoping it was going to be worth the long drive and wait. Even though they had a lot of very interesting appetizers and entrees we decided to go with things we usually get at Chinese restaurants so we could really compare the food to the other 150 or so Chinese restaurants we have tried throughout the country. We started off with the crispy egg rolls (next time we will try one of their famous salt and pepper appetizers such as salt and pepper shrimp or salt and pepper eggplant) and we also ordered the egg drop soup. For our entrees we ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef. First we got the crispy egg rolls (these are vegetable only egg rolls), they were piping hot, not greasy, and in my opinion were just the right size for a small appetizer to start off with for 2 people. The sauce they provided with the egg rolls was extremely flavorful and was definitely a premium style sauce and not something out of a jar. Next we got the egg drop soup--normally at Chinese restaurants the soups can be good at best but are usually nothing spectacular. In this case the egg drop soup was spectacular--the extremely flavorful yet clean taste and texture were way above any egg drop soup we have ever had at any other Chinese restaurant--it was definitely not the routine egg drop soup you usually expect to receive at Chinese restaurants. It was so different and so good that I will definitely be trying all their other soups in the future and will probably also be ordering addl soup to take home. Next our entrees. 1 bite of each and I was instantly hooked. The Kung Pao Chicken was perfectly cooked, very fragrant, very clean and not greasy/oily at all and it had a unique extra flavor profile unlike other Kung Pao's I have had in the past. None of the vegetables were over-cooked and it was simply perfect. The Mongolian Beef was equally as good. You could tell instantly that the beef they used was definitely much higher quality than the usual used at most Chinese restaurants. The flavor was just right and not too sweet and had a vast richness of flavor to it with plenty of punch--Mongolian Beef the way it should be. To sum up out of the 150 or so Chinese restaurants we have tried in NY, LA, SF, Atlanta, Tampa and other places across the country this is definitely the best of them all. Definitely worth the drive and any wait (if you dont have a reservation). My wife and I look forward to returning and trying everything else on the menu!

Yelp
Love their dim sum. Beef chow fun is good too. My kids ordered 2 plates. wish there is a restaurant near our place.

Yelp
Love meeting friends for dim sum on a Sunday always crowded. We always order salt and pepper calamari and pea shoots. We love the assorted dim sum from the carts - different dumplings and we always end with the pineapple buns Just wish there was a location in Pinellas

Yelp
Dim sum only served during lunch. Doesn't specify on Yelp so we wasted our time and gas.

Yelp
Yesterday several of us met up at Yummy House for lunch. When we arrived there were 20 people waiting in a line outside. That is always a good sign. 30 minutes later we were seated. There were two options for eating. You can order off the menu if you prefer the Dim Sum service, where carts parade food through the restaurant & you pick what you like. I chose the other option & ordered off the menu & chose Mongolian Beef. When my plate arrived the food smelled fantastic. The taste was equally as great. The meat was tender & not fatty or gristly. The serving was large & delicious. The food was excellent. Unfortunately the service was lacking. Our waitress never returned to check on us or refill water glasses. Despite that, I'd return for the excellent food.

Yelp
We always come here when we visit Tampa. Good Chinese food and always good service. We got the salt and pepper squid, house fried rice, and orange chicken. Love the squid, the chicken was okay. We'll definitely come back again

Yelp
We had dim sum here today. Food is a little pricey for the portions. What we ordered: Chicken feet - advertised as being stewed in black bean sauce. There wasn't a black bean in sight (or taste). In fact, there was very little flavour in this dish, which sadly, summed up the food in general. Sui mai - meaty, but not much flavour, Shanghai dumplings: a little scallion & ginger flavour. But could have used more. Shrimp stuffed eggplant: shrimp portion tasted great, but the sauce was just watery and brownish, adding nothing to the eggplant. Pan fried turnip cake: nice consistency with some tasty bits (loo cheong?) Summary? Mediocre & not worth what we paid.

Yelp
The food was much better than the ambiance. We entered at evening opening time (5:00 p.m.), so we were the first at our table for the evening. Thus, there was no excuse for the streak of dried gravy on the pepper shaker, or the small holes in the plastic tablecloth. The food was very good, except for the broth of the wonton soup which was much too salty. The dumplings in the wonton were excellent though. Some attention to detail front of house, and this could potentially earn 5-stars.

Yelp
Come early or make a reservation because this place gets packed! We decided to wait out the 40 minute wait time and it was worth it. The food was delicious and fresh, and from what we heard from others it was authentic. My favorite part was the carts that come around with the dumplings, buns, shrimp balls and more. It's like being a kid in a candy store! My favorite was the honey bbq pork buns and shumai. We also got the fried rice and XO steak. I decided to try to XO sauce because on the menu it said it was a unique, pricey sauce but honestly I didn't find it to be that special or different. I definitely will be back!

Yelp
The service was great here, servers were efficient and kind. Atmosphere was busy but relaxed and enjoyable. The food was good, we enjoyed dim sum dishes and the orange chicken and sesame chicken. My one gripe is well, it doesn't really taste like what I know orange and sesame chicken to be. (My only claim to Chinese food knowledge is growing up in Northern Virginia so take this with a grain of salt, but neither dish had the distinctive flavors I'm used to.) The sesame chicken tasted like breaded honey chicken with sesame seeds on top, no dark, tangy, sesame flavor. The orange chicken tasted kinda similar, smelled a little like funnel cake, sweet, with little bits of mandarin fruit scattered throughout. It was good, I'd eat here again, but I don't really consider it to serve those dishes (as I know them) and am still looking for my go-to sesame chicken place!
