"Crowds still clamber to fill the seats at this spacious, no-frills eatery, whose sizable menu presents ample options for a range of tastes. Diners can find contentment with familiar American-Chinese staples, like orange chicken and salt-and-pepper fried calamari (or tofu). However, dishes like clay pot-braised fish have their own unique, earthy appeal. During lunch hours you’d be well-advised to select from the separate dim sum menu, which features typical bites like dumplings and turnip cakes, as well as sweet regional specialties like pineapple buns and Hong Kong-style egg tarts. Thanks to the popularity of the original, a number of offshoots can be found throughout southern Florida, including a more upscale one in South Tampa." - Michelin Inspector

I don't know why people aren't flocking to this restaurant. Granted, it is sort of hidden, but I guarantee you it is a hidden gem. The food is fantastic! The Mongolian beef, beef fried rice and spicy crispy chicken are to "die for." The beef is so tender that it melts in your mouth. The crispy chicken has just enough spice and crisp that you will enjoy every bite. There are other dishes on the menu that are just as fabulous. Additionally, the food is reasonably priced, especially for the amount of delicious food you get, and I mean delicious!!! I highly recommend you try this restaurant. It is a family favorite

Google
Real diners review this home-style restaurant, 3 reasons to eat + guide to avoid pitfalls (no ads, feel free to read!) The old-fashioned pot-fried pork is a classic Northeastern dish! The batter is just the right thickness, crispy but not hard, the meat strips are firm and not dry, the sweet and sour sauce is in a precise ratio, sour and sweet, appetizing, and you won’t feel sick of it! The sweet and sour spare ribs are carefully selected, with more meat and less bones, and the sauce is the "soul" - it is thick and sticky, sour and sweet with a bit of burnt fragrance, slightly sweet when eaten alone, and perfect with rice/wraps! The roast duck set has a crispy duck skin, fresh duck meat, and a tough crust (the rolls are not easy to break), and the sauce is enough, which is very suitable for family/friends to share, and the price-performance ratio is very high! !

Great lunch at Yummy House! Very appropriately named! We ordered the sweet and sour pork, steamed shrimp with garlic, and stir fried cabbage with glass noodles. Friendly service and the food comes out quickly. Spacious and comfortable seating. Recommend!

The food is absolutely delicious and truly authentic Northern Chinese cuisine, highly recommend!

Worth checking out if you come for great food with a large portion, not the service. They are nice but understaffed. Chun bing is so good and fun to have. Guo bao rou are not always consistent but sometimes just amazing (including this time so I wrote this review)! Many dishes will give you a good taste of Northeastern China Style.

Google
Absolutely delicious! The Peking duck was crispy and tender, and the pickled cabbage pork stew was so comforting. Loved the salted egg yolk pumpkin — creamy and rich. The stir-fried pork with peppers and boneless spicy chicken feet were super flavorful. And the sweet and sour fried pork had the perfect crunch. sooooooooo gooood!!!

New review: I ordered from Hungry Panda App. Very authentic and delicious food! If you love Chinese food and want to try something authentic and different, you should come here. Here’s food is more like Northern China food, not the spicy type of Szechuan food, not the Cantonese food, but the Northeast Chinese food, which I love very much. I recommend their Peking duck, sweet sour pork and farmer bowl. Everything I tried from here so far is all good. I definitely recommend this place. Previous revue: I did a Peking duck takeout from Yummy House. I got the recommendation from my friend about this place’s Peking duck. It was really really awesome. I think it’s the best Peking duck I eat so far in San Diego. The skin is thin sliced, you can feel it is crunchy, not too oily and melting in your mouth. They come with the wraps, scallion & cucumber slices, and the duck sauce. And it also with comes with a duck soup for free. The price is nice and I realized it’s much cheaper to do the restaurant takeout directly than Hungry Panda delivery. The dish of Peking duck itself seems like $10 less. I guess I’ll come here more for the takeout than doing the delivery. Sorry I don’t have photos since we were too hungry when we ate. I totally forgot the photos. By the way, the only thing is you have to wait for a while when you go to pick up your food. Maybe it was a Saturday night. I waited 15 minutes for the food to be ready.

Every dish we got was very flavorful and distinct! Glad to have listened to recommendations for this place despite a lower star rating. The Peking duck was soo good! Call ahead 1 hr to order. We also got the chicken and mushroom stew and the baked pumpkin with egg yolk. Very tasty! Of course, authentic Chinese restaurants tend to lack in the service department and this place follows that trend, but the food definitely makes up for it. Great place for dinner on a Saturday night. We walked in at 6 pm and there were a few tables open and we were able to snag a parking spot right out front which is miraculous for Convoy on a weekend!

Yelp
Fellow Northeasterners/Manchurians, this is a place for you! I grew up in Harbin and they have extremely authentic food from my area! Besides, they also have items not currently on the menu e.g. "Oil" green beans and smoked pork knuckles (similar to Schweinshaxe) and trotters, which are my soul and comfort food. It's my to-go place even before I moved to SD. The manager Andy is very nice as well :)
google avatar

Jialing Z.

Yelp
I ordered food with this restaurant multiple times because it the only one Chinese Northeastern style restaurant in SD. It went well before but their dish I ordered recently tasted like mixed with "overnight leftover". Some potatoes (not all) in the dish tast like cooked last night. I am sure about my findings but their staff kept saying that they cooked it today. Worst of all, I suffered from diarrhea after eating their food. Disappointed and sad that there will be no places to get "东北菜"in SD.

Yelp
Yummy House took over the suite where an Asian gastropub used to be located in the Convoy District. It's part of a small cul de sac of five businesses which means the shared parking lot has extremely limited capacity. The inside wasn't changed much from its predecessor, but the menu was completely revamped. The Roast Duck was the signature item on the menu. The duck needs to be ordered in advance so planning is required if you are going to dine here and want to eat that product. The rest of the offerings was Chinese fare ranging from cold dishes, vegetables, meats, seafood, noodles, rice and soup. For my meal, I selected the Green Chives Turnover and Black Pepper Steak. The first choice was four fried dumplings that were each cut in half. They were the largest dumplings I had seen in awhile with lots of flavorful minced filling. It was a good value for the price. The second choice was a dish consisting of stir fried cube steak that was served with a bed of white onions. The marinade on the meat was a bit salty, otherwise there was not much to remark about. For the food quality, price and service, I gave my dining experience at Yummy House a three star rating.

Yelp
It was pretty dead inside considering it's on Convoy Street. There is additional parking at the back. There was a good amount of take out orders. Servers did their job. It was clean inside. It looked like it used to be a bar before. The scallion pancakes were good but the Seafood noodles were too salty for us! Location is good if you like going to Happy Lemon lol we went there afterwards for dessert!

Yelp
Excellent experience! We came for lunch on a Friday and ordered the orange chicken, beef noodle and the mixed veggie plate. The portions were large and the food was tasty. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
When we came in for lunch it was pretty empty. We came for the Peking duck, but was tempted to try other things. The Peking duck: 2 course meal. Comes with the duck sliced for you and soup made with the bones & some of the duck meat. The family liked it, although I thought it could've used a little more salt. But the Peking duck itself was amazing, one of the best I've had. The skin crispy, & the meat moist. The best part is they separate & remove most of the fat off. So you're left with just yummy meat & crispy skin. I enjoyed the very thin crepe-like/thin tortilla-like wrap. The Peking duck alone deserves a perfect 5 stars. Beef onion: the fam really enjoyed this one. The beef was very tender & the sauce was good. Sweet & sour pork: very unique texture. Like one of the reviewers said, the coating is like mochi like. Kind of sticks to your gums & teeth when hot. I liked the texture, but we didn't like the sauce. It was over caramelized and was sort of solid. It was like over cooked caramel and stuck to our teeth. Even solidified onto the plate. Yang zhou fried rice: bland and was missing the sausage. It was basically shrimp bland fried rice. Baked pumpkin with salted egg yolk: it was ok. It was very sweet, really heavy, & greasy. It's probably an acquired taste. Service was meh, they basically just dropped off the food then went on the phone on speaker to call for their medical stuff. No one came by to refill our waters or take away empty plates till the very end when we asked for more water & the check. Would I come back here again? Yes for sure for the Peking duck, I will definitely come back for that. But call ahead (an hour minimum), since they say you have to make reservations for them to prepare that.

Yelp
We came here for the Peking Duck. They suggest you order in advance so we made a reservation and placed the order. The duck was delicious - served with the duck soup, pancakes, scallions, cucumber and sauce. My friends really, really enjoyed the meal. The skin was crispy, just the way they like it. I enjoyed the vegetable dishes. The noodles, pumpkin and eggplant were good. Some of the flavors were new to me because this place serves northern Chinese food. Note: They do have dishes we are more familiar with like honey walnut shrimp, sweet and our, etc. The restaurant is dark could use freshening up. The server took our order but didn't really check in with us to see how we were doing.

Yelp
It was okay. Got the beef chow mein and broccoli beef. It was fine. Not too good not too bad.

Yelp
Solid Chinese restaurant with Peking duck and requires advanced notice. Sweet and sour pork was crispy and has slight mochi-like breading. Different but delicious. Always a reliable choice for Chinese food.

Yelp
Yummy House is another victim of the Insta Wars. There are more-interesting versions of many of its dishes within a mile of the place, just not so artfully plated, and its Peking Duck looks great and photographs well, but has very little of the flavor that makes one willing to spend $50 on a duck. The good news is that I keep reading that, like Facebook, Instagram is "over" so, you know, fingers crossed...

Yelp
Ordered six dishes in one go, and the total cost was just a little over 100. Best value for money! Pickled Cabbage with pork belly pot Classic Northeastern flavor! The white meat is incredibly tender and pairs perfectly with the sour cabbage. The Northeastern sour cabbage adds a strong and refreshing sourness to the dish. It also includes frozen tofu and vermicelli. It arrived hot! The sour cabbage in this pot is indeed appetizing, but the soup base is quite heavy, so it's best enjoyed when shared. Stewed Chicken with Mushrooms These are genuine wild mushrooms! The flavor is very authentic. This dish highlights the characteristics of Northern cuisine with its savory and tender meat, along with the use of multiple layers of aromatic spices for stewing. The chicken pieces are a bit small, but they're flavorful. The vermicelli in this dish is the finishing touch. However, it's best to eat it quickly! Initially, it absorbs the rich and well-balanced soup flavors and becomes very delicious. The longer it soaks, the saltier it becomes. Glass Noodles salad An appetizer for all ages! The cold skin noodles are refreshing with a chewy texture, and they're incredibly smooth. The colorful garnishes also include plenty of vegetables and lean shredded meat. I really like the taste of this dish. It might not be a mind-blowing masterpiece, but the flavor is familiar and delightful, and the texture is excellent Jellyfish salad I can't resist jellyfish, having grown up by the seaside. I'm particularly satisfied with the crispy texture of the jellyfish served here - it's tender and refreshing! It's a perfect blend of sourness and freshness, and it's a must-have among the various meat-heavy dishes. Pork Meatballs Its Chinese name literally means braised Lion's Head and it's a very classy Northern China dish. It perfectly replicates the taste from my memories! The pork is not at all gamey! It's properly seasoned, with the authentic flavors of Northern Lion's Head meatballs. The texture is amazing, with a thin outer layer that's crispy from frying and tender meat inside. I love it! Meet Sauce Noodles The noodles are wonderfully chewy! They have a good bite to them. The sauce is also very fragrant, with minced meat. After mixing fully, each strand of noodle is coated in sauce, and it's fragrant but not too salty. It's also convenient for takeout. A little more garnish would be nice~ In my opinion, among all the takeout orders I've placed, this is definitely the best value for money. The average price for the dishes I ordered is around $15 to16, and the portions are generous, and the taste is very good.

Yelp
Late lunch. Ordered General Tso chicken. Asked for white meat He said it was made with white meat. It does not come with anything but the main dish. Charged us for a side of white rice about a cup. Chicken was size of marbles not standard white meat chicken chunks. It was not breaded but stir fried with a few carrot slices, onions and small jalapeño looking peppers. Sauce was tasty but very greasy. $22.00 for us to split one dish. Clean venue but they gave us tiny, thin napkins (one each) and plastic, cheap to go forks. We were eating in. Could have been much better experience for the price. We will not be back.

Yelp
The vibe of this place is super calm & chill, plus the tea is delicious! Would highly recommend. The staff are always friendly, shoutout to Alee & Michelle

Yelp
I am so very torn. I was seated quickly and everything looked clean. I perused the menu and decided to splurge on the expensive duck, knowing I'd be waiting an hour, and ordered bao and asked after drinks. The bao wasn't available and apparently the wine and beer on the wall are decorative. I chose a beef and onion stir fry. None of the dishes have detailed descriptions on the menu. It came out in a reasonable time and the beef was tender and well-flavored (spiced without being burny hot). Had to ask for rice (apparently an $18 dish doesn't come with rice). I will have plenty of leftovers, but am not thrilled.

Yelp
Came here with my hubby and FIL. The food is absolutely delicious, service is exceptional, and the restaurant is super clean as the recently remodeled it. They've got new menus now! With more options and some less popular dishes are not there anymore such as lamp skewers. We ordered 7 dishes, we didn't expect the servings to be that huge but boy they were good. Everything is so authentic and I'm not sure how I've never been here before. Super good LiaoNing food. The only place in SD that serves La Pi. The waiter came and took our orders, without a pen or pad, at first I was very impressed with how he memorized everything. But everyone makes mistakes, instead of my beef noodle soup they made the intestines soup. It has such a strong smell and it made me very nauseous especially I'm super pregnant. He also forgot one dish which I respectfully reminded him of. Prices are very reasonable. Food is delicious, for someone with acquired taste buds like mine and for my hubbys taste buds. My fav was the La Pi, you can't come here without ordering one of their most popular dishes Orange pork was yumm! Reminded me of home. Husband truly loved it too Jalapeño with potato's were delicious. Not too salty yet very very flavorful. The greens were a hit too! My husband is like a 5 year old toddler, I don't remember when was the last time I got him to eat vegetables and he loved it too. General chicken smelled good too, im not a chicken person but my husband loved his food Chow Mian was delicious too. Spicy duck head is SPICY! good be a good snack for watching movies as left overs All food comes in HUGEEE portions. Now we have left overs for today and tomorrow. Left overs for the in laws too! I didn't say anything about the mix ups with the noodles because they are such a small business, we were the only table there the whole time we were there. Most ppl get takeouts from there from panda Delievery. Want good authentic Chinese food that is not TOO salty yet flavorful? This is the spot. 10/10 would recommend. Most updated menu posted below as of 03/01/2023

Yelp
Got cold glass noodle and pork liver at lunch. Had a diarrhea. Floor is sticky and I know it's dirty when I walked in.

Yelp
We decided to try this place. I've heard they do peking duck, but you have to order an hour ahead. Obviously, we didn't get that! We ended up getting three dishes: Spare rib winter melon soup - this reminds of a Filipino dish called nilaga. I liked it, although could've had a little more of a punch. Dry pot chicken - it has jalapeños in it, but it wasn't too spicy. Of course, the chicken has bones, so just be sure not to choke on it. :-) Pork bone - this was tasty and just fell off the bone. But, just to clarify, we had ordered a pork belly dish. Yeah, it wasn't pork belly! Oh well! Maybe one of these days we'll try the peking duck. It's a little pricey, though. All in all, the dishes I tried were good!
google avatar

Hannah J.

Yelp
Pre-ordered peking duck, owner called to make sure we were on our way just in time when the duck was ready. Highlight was the paper thin wrappers, the hoisin sauce and the puffed-up crispy, juicy duck skin. The meat could use a bit more salt. Would still recommend if you are in the area and are craving peking duck.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal! Made no plans for lunch and randomly selected Yummy House. It sure was yummy! Family style dishes, full of flavor. We picked 4 dishes and they were all fabulous. Ordered beef tendon soup, seafoods stir fry noodles, xia long bAo (soup dumplings), and spicy duck head. The duck head was a surprising menu item. I've only had duck prepared lao style and had to try it. Definitely try it if you are on the fence about places to eat on Convoy.

Yelp
Yummy House is a Chinese Restaurant that recently opened in Kearny Mesa area of San Diego. Their focus is on Peking Duck, Chinese food, as well as Americanized Chinese food. Location: That shopping center is sort of hidden (i.e. in the old SOHO location), and honestly, I probably would have never known to stop by if it were not for a foodie friend that wanted to try out the place!! Parking isn't that great... but there is some additional parking in the back of the shopping center. Preparation: I read through all of the negative reviews on Yelp and braced myself for 2 things: (1) Poor Customer Service (2) Peking Duck has to be ordered an hour ahead of time (and sometimes they forget to make it!) Actual Experience: A group of 4 of us arrived on Thursday night around 7PM (in the heavy torrential rain). Lucky for us, the restaurant wasn't that busy due to the weather but service itself was "acceptable" (compared to American standards). It's very "absentminded", but knowing this, our group would proactively flag down the waiter / waitress to get what we wanted. Their English speaking skills aren't that great - but that's okay, I'm there for the food!! A little patience required - I can handle that!! Food: (1) Peking Duck - My foodie friend ordered the Peking Duck an hour ahead of time. The Peking Duck comes with wrappers (tortilla looking things instead of buns that I'm normally used to). It also comes with a large bowl of soup on the side. Otherwise, flavors were on point. NOM NOM NOM! *Pretty Good for San Diego.... otherwise, if you're a foodie, get your booty to Los Angeles* (2) Pork & Winter Melon Soup - not knowing that the Peking Duck comes with soup, we ordered the Pork and Winter Melon soup. Oops!! NOM NOM NOM!! This was yummy - definitely a MUST GET item!! (3) Sauteed String Beans - because we all need vegetables in our lives. This was mildly spicy. (4) Mapo Tofu - who doesn't love Mapo Tofu? Seriously! This was also mildly spicy. Overall Conclusion? Great Meal, Great Flavors!! Service is not so great... but I'm there for the food... ENJOY!!

Yelp
I placed an order in the morning to pick up the food at 5pm, but when I got there they told me they didn't see the order. I showed them the confirmation number, and they told me they haven't made anything for me, while my whole family were waiting at home for the dinner. The attitude was bad as hell, they didn't feel sorry at all. I'll never come back again and wouldn't recommend anyone.

Yelp
My family and I typically only eat turkey for Thanksgiving maybe once every 3 years. All the other years we tend to eat out to save ourselves all the prep work and clean up work afterwards. This year we decided on Yummy House since my brother in law loves eating Peking Duck and this was supposed to be their specialty. We followed protocol and ordered the duck 1 hour in advanced. Here is my take on the food items we ordered: 1. Roasted Peking Duck - The presentation was beautiful and the duck skin was crispy but the meat was a bit dry but still tasty. The thin wrap was a nice change from some of the other restaurants serving peking duck. The duck bone soup that was included in the dish was a bit too salty and I found myself drinking plenty of water afterwards. I did find myself loving the duck leg which was extremely crispy and reminded me of duck confit. 2. Meat Platter- a cold platter consisting of pork intestine, ear, feet and liver. This dish was too bland! Their was not dipping sauce that accompanies it. 3. Cold Chicken with Spicy Sauce - this ended up being my most favorite dish of the night. The chicken was tender and flavorful. 4. Crisp Walnut Shrimp - the shrimp was large but did not taste fresh. The walnut used also tasted stale. I'm sorry to say I did not enjoy my Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was to the extreme as the food was either too bland or too salty. There was just no consistency.

Yelp
Brand new place on Convoy. Really good and authentic Chinese cuisine. My favorites so far the glass noodle salad and the green chive noodle turnover dumplings.

Yelp
Terrible service. The guy looked depressed. The food was not that good except beijing duck.

Yelp
Everything we had was delicious. It took awhile for our food to arrive but it was worth the wait. Since they have been open for less than a week, it is still taking time for them to work out the kinks. For example, we walked in and the waitress said they didn't have an available table. I asked if we'd be next to get one. She looked confused and went to get help. Then a young man can with a piece of notebook paper that he had just torn out to write our name. Now for the food. Grilled lamb chops were fall off the bone with so much flavor. Black bean fish was tasty but I was hoping for some actual pieces of black beans, it was just sauce. Pork rib and winter melon soup was better than most. In fact, it reminded me of my grandpa's version. Yang chow fried rice was different from any other I've had. There was so much shrimp in it and it was seasoned well. Aside from the regular veggies in that rice, they also had a Chinese squash diced up into it that gave it so much flavor. They ran out of the green beans so we ordered the Chinese lettuce with garlic-amazing! Since the restaurant is so new, I think they don't have their portions to price ratio set correctly. All to the customers' advantage at this time. Go now before they realize what a bargain they are. For all the food we ordered, the total was $76 before tip.

Siyuan X.

Yelp
Really good service and taste! Big portions too. Best authentic northeastern style Chinese food in town. If you feel a bit salty you can request less salt or soy sauce too. Highly recommended! Do not be fooled by the bad reviews.

Yelp
Very delicious and homey Northeast Chinese cuisine. Ordered the glass noodle salad, Stewed lamb with sour cabbage and vermicelli, and guobao meat ( authentic Chinese sweet and sour pork ). The Peking duck is freshly prepared and comes with very thin and warm wraps, limitless sides and a delicious duck soup. Everything is done the same way it is done in Beijing. Need to call 1 hour ahead to pre- order. Currently it is catering to takeout primarily during dinner time. We are the only dine-in clientele between 7 and 9 but we nevertheless were satisfied with the taste, presentation and ambience. The manager is very attentive to our needs, and despite us being a picky crowd. Definitely a hidden gem in San Diego.

Yelp
Left after taking one look at the so called Peking Duck. Brought to the table cold and greasy and the Moo Shu pancakes were cold and dried out. Avoid this place at all costs.

Yelp
Really great food from northern China! Inexpensive and huge portions. Give it a try you won't regret it.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible food here. We brought a large group and sampled many dishes. The Peking duck to the cabbage all were so good! The staff was friendly and efficient, especially considering how much food we got.

Yelp
It was a cold, rainy day with no customers. I ordered the dry pot shrimp, Chinese broccoli , and side of rice. When I got home all I got was dry pot potatoes with no shrimp for $15.98, a half container of white rice, and half container full of Chinese broccoli. Definitely not worth the $37! The place was cold on a very cold day- like they couldn't afford to turn on the heat or pay their electric bills to turn on lights. Be very careful when ordering take-outs and check your items carefully. After calling them of their mistakes, they were not apologetic. They lack customer service and will never order from this establishment again.

Yelp
PROS: + beef noodles soup + spicy fish fillet + next to Happy Lemon + not too pricey + jellyfish CONS: - parking - service could improve - duck takes 1hr Great place :) I love that there's NEVER a wait!

Yelp
It took some time to be seated and the place was half empty, then we had to ask for the menu because nobody was trying to attend us. After waiting and waiting, nobody asking us anything we decided to leave, customer service is non existence. BTW parking is a nightmare in this plaza.

Yelp
this place rocks. like actually. we were looking for dumplings and asian food but everywhere had a line out the door. we were hungry and so we wanted in fast. immediately seated on a saturday night at 6. we were a little lost in the menu but ordered -shrimp fried rice -special seafood noodles -xiao long bao (dumplings) PHENOMENAL. would recommend all of those things. steaming hot and incredible flavor. kind service and normal prices.

Yelp
The best Chinese food in the town. The restaurant is not big, and there are not so many people going there because of difficult parking I guess. But the food is definitely the best. Almost every dish I've tried is good! The most recommended one is the roasted duck. Because of the long cooking time, you need to call for reservation in advance. Please go and have a try. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We came in for a lunch on Saturday, at around 1pm. The place was packed. It's a typical noodle house with lots of modifications. We've ordered three different menu items. The lady brought us the lo mein with chicken really fast, the portion was enormous, and we got full. Unfortunately we're short on time and couldn't wait for a long time. And I asked them to hold other two for me for several hours, so I could pick them up on my way home. And they did. They were really nice and flexible with our time limitations. So I came back later, like 4 hours later, and I've received the rest of my ordered food: it was hot, sizzling, just simply made. Thank you for making my dinner cooking easy, and your lo mein is delicious. Also for vegetarians I highly recommend to try their turnovers with greens. Very Tasty!

Yelp
I am a huge fan of Peking duck so hearing about this place was a must try. When you compare Peking duck to world renowned places like Peking Gourmet Inn in Washington DC (where all the presidents go) or Dragon i-Peking in Malaysia where they carve the duck tableside, it's on another level. I would give this place a solid 4 because you could eat 5-6 of those wraps easily. Even though they don't use the puffy bun but a pancake wrap for the duck, it doesn't weigh you down which I love. We ordered other things like the shrimp fried rice, ong choy, eggplant and peppered steak, BUT there is one item on the menu that truly shined. This restaurant should be famous for those sweet and sour spareribs. It was so good that it outshined the Peking duck. I will gladly drive here every week for those spareribs and is this restaurant's hole in the wall MUST HAVE. Get it and I promise you won't be disappointed. Overall, service was okay but we came for the food and it delivered. That's all that matters.

Yelp
I've come here so many times, and every time I receive attentive and gracious service. The food is the best Beijing duck I have had in San Diego, and they include the thin wraps instead of the typical buns you get at other restaurants... it makes all the difference!! Make sure you order the duck at least an hour ahead of time! The most recent time I've come, I noticed that the dishes have decreased in size, but not in quality! Besides the duck, the shredded pork with brown sauce is amazing (it also comes with the thin wraps yeeess), as well as the sautéed green beans and Yeung Chow fried rice. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Hands down...best Peking Duck in SD. This is a to go order, and I just assemble it insteadi if eating it from styrofoam containers. They did a good job packaging everything up. The duck is cooked to perfection, no white fat on the skin, super crispy, nicely glazed, and flavorful. The pancake was light and delicate, good amount of side cucumber and scallions. They could double up on the pancake, but not necessary, we just cute it in half and have enough. The Peking duck order came the soup broth, and trimmed duck meat without fat. There was so much left over duck meat. It was amazing. I wish the order came with the ginger duck sauce. What a delight this dish was!! the Peking duck order serving is good for 4 person. I will be ordering from here again.

Yelp
Came here with family and like the fact that they take reservations. The Peking duck was only ok, skin was crispy but the meat was a bit dry. We also ordered the walnut shrimp and it was a big disappointment. Walnut tasted stale and there were too much batter on the shrimp.

Yelp
First time going there we wanted to peaking duck but we don't know that we had to order the duck an hr ahead of time so then we got the garlic shrimp, braised pork belly and the spicy wonton. The presentation was beautiful but the shrimp and pork belly was eh, felt like it was missing some flavors or it was kinda bland even tho it didn't look like it. Pork belly super tender tho. The spicy wontons in chilly oil was the best. Fast forward to two week later we decided that we wanted to try out the peaking duck so we called them an hr ahead to let them know. When we got there the waiter was nice, seated us down and gave us our order. They ran out of the dumplings that they usually use for dumpling chili oil so he gave us different dumplings, it tasted good but not really the same. Not that big of a deal tho since he didn't notified us about the dumplings we still wanted to order it. I wish there menu had pictures tho.

Yelp
This review is for this restaurant during COVID. I've not eaten here pre-COVID, but I've wanted to because they are one of the few places that serves peking duck. And I heard it's damn good. And it is. Service: 3.5 stars I've ordered food from here twice during COVID. It seems like there is only 1 person working the whole time. The same guy who takes your order is also cooking your order. Be warned, if you don't speak Mandarin, it will be very hard to order. I tried placing a phone order the first time and it was difficult to say the least, even with my broken Mandarin. Second time, I went in to order on a Sunday night because they weren't picking up the phone. When I asked to order, he mimed to me that they were out of food essentially...3rd time, I went in to order my dinner at NOON and he said he didn't have half the things I wanted to order. So not the greatest experience, not because of language, but because of food availability. Food: 4 stars I've tried their peking duck, steamed garlic shrimp, bbq lamb chops, walnut shrimp, and eggplant with garlic. The peking duck is separated from skin and meat. Definitely their signature dish. Needs to be ordered 1 hr ahead of time. They also serve it with the thin pancake wraps instead of the fluffy buns most people are used to. 2nd to the crispy crispy duck skin, the peking duck is served with a bone broth from the duck's bones, which is excellent. The lamb chops are amazing. Crispy, spicy xinjiang style. If they have them, order them. The steamed garlic shrimp is a little underseasoned for my taste, but a little soy sauce fixes it easily. The walnut shrimp's breading was a little thick and the sauce was lacking sweetness of most places. The eggplant with garlic was a deeep fried eggplant stirfried in sweet and tangy sauce. Delicious over rice. Despite everything, I'll come back to order the peking duck and lamb chops for special occasions.

Yelp
The food here is pretty yummy! We had the Mapo Tofu, Green Beans and Lamb w/cumin. I really liked the green beans and lamb. You know a chinese restaurant is legit when there's only chinese people eating there. My party was the only table that had non-chinese people! I grew up eating at asian restaurants so I'm used to bad service, in fact I joke that you know an asian restaurant has good food when you see a bunch of asians and the service is bad. It's nothing personal, I just think that's how it is. To deal with this, you have to take initiative, you can't expect them to come to you. The service here was pretty bad, I'm not gunna lie, this was like the worst I've experienced in awhile. When we first got in, the waiter clearly saw us but didn't seat us right away even though we made eye contact. It wasn't until we waved and said something that he took us to the table. He never checked on us so we always had to wave him over which was difficult cause he was more preoccupied with serving the bigger parties. And whenever we asked for something, there was never a visual or auditory confirmation that he acknowledged it. He would just walk away but surprise us by bringing us what we had asked. So be prepared for super bad service.

Yelp
This place has some delicious and authentic food! We especially love the sliced potato sour cabbage noodle soup with lamb, and the stir fried shredded potato with pepper. The portion sizes are generous and the host/chef is always friendly and welcoming. It seems like currently the restaurant is operating at a more limited capacity (not all menu items were available, we've only been able to get takeout vs fine in, and only one person is both taking orders and making food). Occasionally the dishes can take a while, but it hasn't been an issue for us and it's always been worth the wait. We will definitely come back to try more of the menu!
