Yummy Thai

After visiting the Met Cloisters, my mother and I were hesitant about whether went back to downtown Manhattan or just found a random restaurant for lunch. Fortunately, I made the right choice today. The delicious food and nice service were totally worth the 10 more minutes walking.

Ok, 4 stars. Why? My dishes were fantastic. The service was fantastic, and the decor is definitely chill. The loss of the star 🌟 is for the early closing and just not enough of the delicious food. lol

Absolutely love this place! Wonderful staff, delicious food (slowly working my way thru the menu & everything so far is great) and tbh just a fun place to hang out! Plus the lychee martini & coconut martini (see pic!) are both amazing! ❤️❤️ So grateful to have them right here in Inwood.

Horrible experience, I used to frequent this restaurant, and I never had a problem until today. One of our dishes had broken pieces of the porcelain plate in the food. Plus, the Mason jars that they used to serve the drinks were all dirty, full of lipstick! To top all off, one of the waiters started arguing the fact that the jars were clean, "It's just some lipsticks are harder to take off than others." Terrible reasoning for something as serious as the customers health. Please be advised that they don't seem to take health hazards as seriously as they should. Needless to say, never going here again!

The food here is great, and the drinks are awesome. The price for the food is still affordable for NYC standard and happy hour is a great deal. The only thing better than the food and drinks is the excellent service offered by the staff. Everyone here is very great and makes you feel welcomed. I would 100% recommend this place.

I order two dishes Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles. The Drunken noodle was very flavorful and delicious while the Pad Thai was lacking sauce and flavor. Portions were very filling. We did however pay $60 for two meals and a side order of calamari. In my opinion it’s a bit pricey for what you are receiving. This place isn’t the best nor the worst for being the only Thai place in the area.

Really good food and awesome service. Squid fried rice and virgin pina colada. Only thing is they charge you a few for using a card which is illegal in nyc I'm pretty sure.

On my way back from the Met Cloisters, I stopped by this place for lunch. Their happy hour is awesome. Everyday 3 pm - 7 pm. All beer $3 and good deal on other drinks as well. I had the Red Curry with chicken and it comes with Jasmine rice. The prices are very reasonable and my dine in experience was very good. I loved the fact that no one rushed us out of the place after we were done eating and finishing our beer. Would recommend and would probably go back again.

I thought the food that I ordered, that was thai chicken wings, and green curry were average. My lychee martini was five stars and the best one I've had ever. I thought the service was pretty good. I was told that since they charged a sur charged fee, if you use credit/debit, I decided to use cash instead to avoid the fee. The thing that impressed me the most about this restaurant is how beautiful it is. The decorations, from the lighting, and what looks like someone plant a tree in the middle of it. They had a beautiful bench in an area all decorated and dressed up for social media attention. It was really nice inside. They also had outdoor dining, but this particular day was a bit breezy. The food was just ok. I was expecting more flavor from my green curry. My Thai wings were just crispy chicken, served with sweet chili sauce. Nothing phenomenal. I will give a thumbs up, the prices are pretty good, my drink was amazing, and they have a really good happy hour deal. Not to mention, my overall experience was not bad, but just ok. HAPPY YELPING!

Ok Guys! I ordered an early take-out dinner here. I got the Thai noodles w/ vegetarian duck. This was very tasty would definitely order this again. I also go the fried dumplings it was different than I expected but ok not really for me. Ohhh, I really enjoyed the cold tea at the bar they add some kind of milk to it. It's very very good & for only $4 u can't beat it. It's in a clear beverage canister. The place is clean, & clean air. No smelly, smoky restaurant smell like some places. The prices r fair to be be in NYC. Transportation: Take A train to last stop W. 207th St / Bway or #1 Train to 207th St & walk up (3) blocks to Bway. It's in Inwood so it's safe enough. Staff is friendly! It's a beautiful restaurant u can sit in & eat if u like. Large enough to bring a group of ppl indoor & outdoor dining. Enjoy! I definitely, recommend this spot.

I passed this restaurant several times in several years and never been inside. Customer service is not there. There is missed opportunity. However, the food is delicious. We order the Pineapple Fried Rice Entree, Pad Thai Entree, and Calamari. They gave you more than enough portion that you can take home or share the dish. Cute ambience I will definitely come again. Affordable prices great for family date night or just eating alone.

I will be honest the quality of the drinks are just ok, nothing special. However, the food is great and the customer service is wonderful. Just a heads up if you pay with a credit card, there is a charge for using a card versus cash.

Popped by not too long ago for a happy hour. The service was great. We were seated quickly, received our food and had drinks refreshed quickly. We ordered some of the Thai fried chicken, the chicken puffs, and some French fries. The fries wasn't much to write home about but the chicken puffs? Matched perfectly with the lychee martini. The drinks were about 5 bucks and the food wasn't too pricey either. We went on a Wednesday so it was pretty quiet in the space. They played some early 2000's music in the background keeping the mood light. Very nice happy hour in inwood.

I don't understand why only 3 stars. I took my neighbor there for lunch today (first time for both of us) and the food was amazing. She had a curry dish and I had a noodle dish (not Pad Thai) as a very reasonably priced lunch special (before 3PM) and both were delicious. We both agreed we would be back to try more items on the menu. Delicious food and good service!

Food is a bit above average, staff is a 5 star. Look at your bill because they have a service charge beside a credit card fee. I made them adjust my bill and they did.

Food is tasty! The menu is varied. Ambiance is garden-like and quiet. The service is excellent. I recommend it highly!

Only been here once, and didn't love it, but I've heard good reviews word of mouth so I'll have to go back and try again. I ordered a pad thai to go, and it was not a busy night (maybe 2 or 3 tables), they said the wait was around 20 minutes - which is fine - and I asked if it was okay for me to sit outside while I was waiting. I also specifically asked if I should come back in 20 minutes, or if the host would tell me when the order was done. Host said they would tell me when it was ready to pick up. 40 minutes later I go inside to check because it was talking longer than expected, and host was just browsing their phone and says "oh here's your order" and so it had been sitting there I guess for 20 mins. Once I got home, despite being super hungry, I wasn't impressed with the Pad Thai - it seemed super bland. A friend told me that they love ordering the drunken noodles, so I guess I'll eventually give this place another shot - but it's not on the top of my list to return.

We usually love Yummy Thai, but recently they had Christian worship music blasting through the speakers and had a music video of it playing on the tv behind the bar. It was very aggravating for a number of personal reasons and will make me think twice before going back.

There is something about the food here that makes it not so yummy at times. I usually get the pad Thai delivered and wish they would just add some more sauce. Too many noodles and not enough coating makes for a dry dish. It hasn't always tasted like this so giving them a 2.5/3. Also, I was on a drunken noodle kick recently and ordered the dish at different Thai restaurants in the neighborhood, including Yummy Thai. Sadly, Yummy Thai's version was the one I liked least. Their pineapple rice is solid, lunch specials are nicely priced and portions generous.

Mushy, tasteless ribs and inedible pad thai that was overcooked and way too sweet. Ordered delivery -Never again.

I went to Inwood area to have my bike serviced, so met a friend who lives in the neighborhood. So we decided on Thai food (one of my fav for its distinct spiciness) We went there for a lunch. Ordered a Tom Yum soup, wished it was spicier. On asking they said I can add the red chilly paste they provide you, that does not do it. But it was tolerable. Pad Kra Pow and Pad nam prik were our main courses. The dishes were scrumptious and big portion, actually 2 people can eat them. Came with white rice. I had pad nam made spicy but again that Thai kick was not there. Overall a good place, they do alot of pick n drops so it seems its a popular takeaway spot. The ride back to Bronx on Fordham road couldnt be more delightful after their food!!!

Underwhelming....everything. Took 40 minutes to get food. Pad Thai was ok. Service was slooooow. Also prices are high for basic Thai food.

okay so, full disclosure, i have never been into thai food; mainly because i didn't find the appeal. a young lady took me to a thai place in the city and let me tell you! i was hooked immediately. this leads me to try this place not too far from my work. once in i was a little apprehensive but found it quite appealing the moment sat. the inside in has a Tahiti vibe with a giant palm tree smacked in the middle and a seat by the door that welcomes folks sitting to take a picture. i ordered two plates, well, because i'm a fatty of course. meal one was the Spicy sriracha Noodle Entree with shrimp. let me tell you- it was bussing. just the right amount of spiciness, the shrimp was cleaned and marinated in the sauce that made it a treat. there was a right amount of broccoli and veggies on my plate that made the price point doable ($15 + 3 for shrimp). i paired that with brown rice and the sauce from the noodle was evened out with the rice. my second dish was the pad thai- again paired with shrimp. i say again that this place has a wonderful chef who adheres to just the right amount of seasoning that doesn't over inflate your palate. i didn't know what to drink so i drank the water they brought out. for whatever reason i just felt like drinking hella water that night. with a check check that came to under $50 for two meals and rice. i think this place is a reasonable experience that folks should try. perfect for a after work function or a meet up of some sort.

The rating is for the food, which we have some favorite dishes, but it's hit or miss these days! Now, for something more important and telling, which is the service and customer services, which is a negative ... We had a dish, and the sticky rice was hard. we ate it, but after a few minutes, my wife felt a stomach ache, and a bit nauseous. She ended up vomiting in the bathroom. Now, we go there somewhat often, and they have seen us before. After she came out the bathroom, we told the two waiters, managers who ever they are named Alfredo and Alonzo. They dismissed us, and her and just talked about how the sticky rice gets hard (very unclear), and not offering any comments or concern on how she felt. They totally dismissed her, and offered no comforting or caring words, just a dismissal because they probably felt we weren't going to pay or something. We will never go there again, especially with staff that are more concerned with the dollar than with customer satisfaction. Be wary of this people, as an establishment needs to have concern for it's customers, and especially those that have been there before. Fortunately, she's better, and that's not due to staff concern, because there wasn't any.

I saw the negative reviews and have to say my experience was very different ..as a matter of fact it was so good i called the restaurant to tell them....will definitely order from them again. also the delivery was good time-wise and delivered when they said they would..it was yummy for sure

This place consistently serves up fragrant, complex dishes and offers plenty of vegetarian options. The drunken noodles, curries and stir fries are all delicious. We usually get takeout, but I have been pleased to see, when I pick up my food, that the host is consistently asking indoor diners for proof of vaccination. Can't wait to dine here in person - I'm just waiting for the numbers to come down a bit.

I love the drunken noodles with vegan duck. The vegan duck is plentiful and good protein. It's so delicious. Pad Thai is ok too.

Terrible food. It looked decent when I walked by and it had good reviews. If you expect real food this is not the place; the farmed overcooked salmon came with a sugary glaze with precooked peas and carrots, even the rice wasn't any good either. I'm giving it two stars because the ambience is nice for sitting with a book or computer for an extended time without bothering anybody (4:30 pm), the music is at a comfortable level, it's relatively quiet inside and the temperature is just right. Good service.

Lunch time for a party of one in Inwood, Manhattan. This Thai cafe is conveniently located nearby the A train at 207th Street (last stop in Northern Manhattan). Lunch special of large shrimp Pad Thai with salad $9.50 was average. It was very greasy and the portion was small for a platter. The salad peanut dressing was very bland and insufficient. Oddly, the salad was planted on the same plate as most standard Thai restaurants have serve the salad separately- a individual salad bowl and the Pad Thai in its own noodle bowl. Straight forward service without any malarkey. Certainly not authentic Thai cuisine as the food is too sweet. I overheard the staff (bar tender server, bus boy and female waitress) all speaking Spanish and far remote resembling anything Asian. This cafe has a bamboo decor with a large photo of a large Buddha with a background of a Buddhist temple, perhaps Wat Sena Sanaram, Ayutthaya? Tables are align set and filled with Western utensils rather than the traditional Asian utensils and no chopsticks in plain sight. Chopsticks are available by request only. Service is average. Air conditioned environment which was a nice cool down from the blazing humidity and summer's heat. Tap water is served in mason jars. While sitting at the bar I noticed a large glass jug of sangria which was enticing but no bits of fresh fruit was embedded. Takeout menu is available for grabs.

I have ordered from Yummy Thai for years and this was the absolute worst! I ordered a lunch special that was supposed to be delivered by 12:15pm. I went to see if it had arrived at 12:25 and it had not. So I called and was told the delivery driver had just left he will be there shortly. My location is only down the street. I waited patiently for another 20 minutes and called again. Once again I was told he would be there shortly. The delivery was at the corner. I met the delivery person outside and wondered if by now my food was cold. Well, in fact it was. My spring roll was sitting in the sauce of the entree and was soggy, my sticky rice was so sticky that I could not pry it apart with 2 forks. Everything else was cold. Terrible!!!!!!!!!!! It took an hour to receive an order that was only down the street. Never again.

This is the most disgusting food I've ever tasted in my life! Shame to keep such a restaurant, not knowing the elementary Thai cuisine!

Decent Thai food. Good service. It can be hit or miss with the food. My go to orders are the red curry and the drunken noodle. I feel like quality and spice level varies depending on who is working that day. Spring rolls are good but tiny. Tom Yum soup is also really good. It's a cute place to eat at with indoor and outdoor dining. Service is good and I've never been rushed.

Patio dining is great on a nice day and nice happy hour specials before 7pm. Blue Hawaiian had a chemical aftertaste but the pina colada was good and all the food was above average. I'm rooting for this place and I will come back, but service really, really needs improvement. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a drink on a quiet weekday.

I love this place! Hands down a great vibe all around. Before covid it was great, during covid it's been great, hopefully for many years to come it continues to be great! Everyone inside Yummy Thai thanks for always making my food, drinks and welcome always great!

I work a few doors down and I can say this place is steadily declining. Lunch special drunken noodles with shrimp had literally 3 large size shrimp in it. Not even jumbo like the Chinese stores (who also give you 4). And I paid an extra 1.50 instead of if I just got chicken like I normally do- which come with a lot of meat. Then whatever seasonings they used on the noodles were clearly not cooked long enough because they tasted almost gritty (that mouthfeel of raw curry). And my spring roll was greasy. Don't think I'll be returning here for some time.

Got some food delivered a few days ago and it was ok. The drunken noodles were solid, but the basil chicken was boring. The mango sticky rice was ok. I would definitely order the noodles again, and try something else.

I've been eating from this spot for years and I've never had a bad experience. The food is always yummy and the drinks are awesome as well. Service is always friendly and the wait is never too long. Highly recommend.

Solid food - not memorable, but will be just fine if you're in the mood for Thai and are in the area. They also have affordable, kitschy cocktails which are perfect for a summer's day. A good amount of outdoor seating and not super crowded. Clean bathrooms too!

One of the worst Thai food I've ever had. I ordered the chicken wings ( 6 in order)were all partial burnt and had only a little flavor. the shrimp rolls (3 included in order) were also partially burnt and had oily. The pad Thai didn't have vegetables, limited flavor, and the vegetarian duck was overdone. I'm paused bc I just spent $37 on such bad food. I want my money back. This is not the first disappointing order I had delivered since COVID started but this pissed me off so much that I had to write this bad review bc I'm pissed. People work hard to spend their money at restaurants that should not be lazy and do better.

This bowl of iceberg lettuce with a few shrimp tossed in was $14. Do you see how sad this dish looks? Tastes just as sad. 2 stars instead of just 1 because the food was delivered immediately (I mean duh, it probably took 32 seconds to toss shrimp onto some lettuce), and I didn't die from food poisoning. so, thanks.

Giving it three stars because I felt that the service lacked. Very straight forward service, no checking in really. However, the food is flavorful and fresh. Also the prices are very reasonable. We paid around $45 for an appetizer, 2 drinks and our entrees which to me is very good, especially in Manhattan. The ambiance is great too, feels very tropical and trendy. I'd come back whenever we crave Thai.

I've been getting takeout from here constantly throughout the Covid pandemic. Solid Thai food when craving noodles and Thai. Some of my favorites are the pineapple fried rice (I always add shrimp), coconut shrimp, pad thai, and their Thai iced tea. On occasions I also order the lychee Thai iced tea and add vodka to it (thank me later). There is also outside dining and last night when I went to pick up my dinner (order) server said they are preparing for indoor dining next week. Thank you for the workers and cooks for feeding me through out the pandemic.

The service is hit or miss depending on who your get. There was nothing bad about it, but some are better than others. The food comes out fresh and piping hot which is nice. The flavors however, are more sweet than spicy or complex. It lacks the nuance and depth of traditional Thai cuisine. The Thai iced tea was excellent. Having said that, I'm willing to try it again to see if other dishes are better. The decor is very nice, and clean, with an almost Disney like Thai inspiration. All in, it might be an Americanized version of Thai food, and a fair one at that. I'll be interested to see if it gets better as I'm willing to try it again.

Good food - good service. We had for appetizers: Chicken wings - great. Chicken Dumplings - good. Edamame - Good Entrees: Shrimp Pad tai - over cooked shrimp. Need more flavor Chicken fried rice - chicken needed cooked better. Had large piece of tomatoes??

Way better Thai anywhere else- don't waste your time. Noodles were overcooked. But good price for a lunch special and service was very speedy for a weekday lunch. However, I would definitely try all the other Thai places in ny before going back.

The delivered food is equally good as the table service food. The drunken noodles are always good. I tried their coconut soup for the first time, no diss appointment. The delivery was 10 minutes ahead of schedule. Full stars from me.

Let me say this place is a DECENT spot to come into. I came in here the other day and it was basically empty; from the seats to the tables. We were immediately greeted by a waitresses who sat us a the first table underneath the golden tree and gave us or menus. The food took a while to come out, even though they were empty. Even after ordering an appetizer. There was a lag between entree arrivals which was a little weird. It wasn't much interaction between our server and us (like checking in, if everything's okay, only when the food was being dropped off). My company enjoyed their chicken curry puffs, loved the flakiness of the pastry and the sauce that accompanied it; you also get three BIG puffs. I had gotten the drunken noodle and while it was a bit greasy, it was filling. The other plate was pineapple fried rice with beef, which they enjoyed as well. Overall it's okay. Not the best Thai food NY has to offer but the most cost effective, especially if you catch them for their lunch special.

Lousy food. Bad service. Fried stuff was incredibly greasy. Waited forever for service, and it wasn't even busy. Go somewhere else.

Walked into the place 45 minutes ago places an order for 2 items... still nothing... Had to ask the hostess at the front how much longer before the order was ready, at this point it seemed like an I reasonable amount of time for a half empty restaurant to take. It did look like a good amount of delivery orders were coming in as bags kept coming out of the kitchen and being placed all around. ANYWAY, my order had actually been sitting on a table right behind us with two other bags. The hostess saw this, once she bothered to look and took all three bags to the back said to me "let me get your order" brought the same three bags back out and gave me mine, it was obvious that this was an attempt to cover up the error as the bag was cold and when I asked if my order had been sitting there the entire time she just said thanks have a good night. Total disregard for the customer and the screw up. Instead of owning it she tried to cover it up and deceive us... horrible service and practice. Thank you next, there are many other Thai places folks... We deserve better, we are paying for a service and do not deserve to be lied to. Check on your order when you order to take out here unless you want cold food too. SMDH Update, got home ready to reheat my food and I see that they also packed the food horribly... sauces were place under the satay chicken and completely spilled in the bag, we are now left with dry chicken.. what a huge disappointment that I had to pay for!

This place is amazing! My food was delicious and the service was excellent, So comfortable.

As the only Thai restaurant in Inwood* (read footnote below, though, for caveats), Yummy Thai has a market cornered. The food is OK, but it's definitely dependent on salt gimmicks. My "traditional" Thai chicken was pretty horrible. The noodle dishes are reliable, if not stellar. Why 2 stars? The logistics are off, as many others have said. It takes forever to get your order taken, to get your order -- entrees brought out separately for two people rather than the same time, too! -- to get your check, to get your water refilled, you name it. With so many new places opening up, why bother settling? * If you're too lazy to get up to the Bronx or down a little to Wash Heights, then yeah, this is the "only" place around. If you're like me and willing to do the 15-minute subway ride somewhere else, then you'll help generate the necessary economic pressure to get Yummy Thai into more acceptable shape.
