"The 1900 Manor Road location previously housed El Chile’s burger project, El Sapo, which closed in 2017 after moving to a different location, then Peruvian restaurant Yuyo from James Beard Award-nominated chef Maribel Rivero, which closed in 2020." - Erin Russell

"Yuyo, a Peruvian restaurant part of the El Chile Group, has permanently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Known for dishes with bright aji amarillo sauce, grilled meats, and ceviche, it opened in October 2017 under owner Carlos Rivero and chef Maribel Rivero. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, it was home to James Beard Award semifinalist chef Maribel Rivero. The closure was attributed to the high costs of operating a unique concept in the current pandemic environment." - Erin Russell

"At Yuyo, the decor and happy crowd amount to a cheerful atmosphere, which perfectly matches the inspired food. Peruvian cuisine meets American breakfast here, and all is made for sharing. Opt for dishes like the Choclo stack—Andean corn cakes, chancaca syrup, and bacon—or the picarones—sweet potato doughnuts with powdered sugar. For savories, the Inca bowl with lucuma yogurt, turmeric, amaranth-quinoa granola, almonds, and fruit will balance-out the sweet starters." - Jenna Scatena

"The Best Chef: Southwest category long list is interesting: for the first time, both longtime chef Iliana de la Vega of Oaxacan and Mexican restaurant El Naranjo and chef Maribel Rivero of Peruvian restaurant Yuyo nabbed semifinalist nominations." - Nadia Chaudhury
