The Best Restaurants and Bars in Portland’s Pearl District | Eater Portland

"At this cozy corner restaurant that derives its name from the Thai words for “delicious” and a traditional tiered lunch carrier, diners will find Thai standards like pad kee mao, tom yum, and rad nah alongside Isan-style dishes. Spicy larb salads are available with duck, pork, and cooked or raw beef, best enjoyed with a side of sticky rice. Lovers of papaya salad can try the dish anchored by delicacies such as snail and bamboo, cockles, and raw blue crab." - Thom Hilton

Of you've just come in on the Amtrak you're not far away. Excellent food! The lunch specials are very reasonably priced and the Green Curry with chicken and veggies did disappoint. Spice level was excellent, plenty of veggies. Great flavors. Plenty of options for gluten free and vegetarian diners.

Google
My favorite Thai spot when I lived in the Pearl! Love this spot so much and the team there is legit the nicest. Here’s some pics of some of the incredible things gs I’ve had to eat there over the years!

First time ordering out. The food was good and filling. Flavor was on point, and the rolls were crisp to perfection. We look forward to visiting your restaurant soon. And I don’t think I can ever drink Thai tea again without coconut milk. Might be the best I’ve ever had. Although a bit pricey, I’m glad I could afford this quality meal with my family.

Google
Wonderful Pad Thai and Potstickers! I shared both with my girlfriend and it was a perfect amount for both of us to be full afterwards! We were headed to PDX and were really craving some Thai food and found this place. I was really pleased with everything about it. We went in around 11:30 and it was great. Not too crowded so food came out quick and it was delicious. If you get the chance to stop in here for lunch or dinner I’d say do so otherwise you’d be missing out.

Google
Small dining room, big flavors and menu. Thai, Vietnamese, and other asian food offerings. We got their spicy soup, wontons, the duck noodle, and the cashew stir fry. Highly recommend.

Google
I’ve ordered from here several times as I live in the neighborhood. It never really disappoints. I really love the salad rolls. I’ve ordered about 1/3 of the menu at this point and I’ve enjoyed most items. The Pad Tom Yum is AMAZING. Always a great amount of spice when asked. This is my go to place when I don’t want to cook or it’s a bit late. Had the Panang curry tonight and it was super flavorful. I will keep ordering for sure!

I recently dined with my family and friends at an excellent Thai restaurant located near downtown Portland. The restaurant had impressive decorations and a clean and inviting atmosphere, and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive. I will definitely be revisiting this restaurant in the future.

Google
One of my favorite cuisines in one of my favorite food cities = magnificent experience. The food was fresh and delicious with tons of flavors. Wanted my curry to be a bit spicier but a 4 was pretty mild. Service was great. Will definitely return!

Yelp
My first time trying this place. I ordered two salad rolls and drunken noodles. The service (ordered thru Door Dash) took maybe 20 minutes to arrive at my hotel from the time I ordered! Pretty happy about that and it was fresh, hot and delicious. The green dip is a dressing and it came with the rolls. It's tasty. *I ordered mild* for the drunken noodles Thank you!!! Enjoyed my late dinner. Oh yeah they are open late (midnight) for you late night snackers!

Yelp
As good as can be expected, hearty portions enough to feed two, quick service, great flavors. We got: thai tea 4/5, consistent with most good thai teas, creamy, not overly sweet, good balance pineapple fried rice: 3/5 I didn't like the cook on the rice or the seasoning, it was more of a yellow curry and chicken stock type rather than what I am used to which has been oyster/soy sauce/sugar for the seasonings. might be your thing though especially if you love Satay chicken! drunken noodles: 5/5, phenomenal. came out pipping hot, wonderful depth of flavor, onions and pork were well cooked. I ordered mine "hot" out of the choice mild, medium, hot, thai hot. sometimes thai places are inconsistent with that range, this place was not what so ever. safe to say we have a new favorite spot. only wish it was closer.

Yelp
Really bad experience during our dine in Service is one of the worst I ever had experienced. Even before we finish our food they came and asked if they can close the orders, I thought they are closing the kitchen but still they are accepting new customers and they started cleaning the table e liven before we move from the table felt like they wanted to kick us out as soon as possible Spring roll should be avoided as it was hard and Smokey taste inside may Chicken satay and drunken noodle was good Pad cashew noodle and fried tofu basil was ok kinda dish Food over all 3.5* we feel After seeing the menu we though of Coming back to try some more items but their service made us not to com back here

Yelp
Although food was hot when I picked it up. I didn't care for the sauce, and the chicken was very dry.

Yelp
Quite hungry when I stopped by with my family for an early dinner @ around 5:30 pm. I was lucky to find a parking spot right outside the restaurant. The restaurant had a couple of other patrons when we arrived, and we were seated quite fast. Good vibe in the restaurant. They had TVs showing Bangkok street views and some background Thai music. However, it took quite a while, more than 10 min, to get someone to talk to us at the table as the only wait staff was tied up with a bunch of pick-up orders. More patrons flooded in after us and I suppose that overwhelmed the staff. Eventually, we had someone come to take our orders. We ordered the following items which came out quite fast in less than 5 minutes. I'd highly recommend: Drinks: $4.00 Thai Ice Tea - Yummy $12.50 Lychee Martini - Delicious Food: #52 @ $16:50 Khao Pad Tom Yum with additional Milo Beef ($1.00) #51 @ $17.95 Thai Fried Rice with $2 Shrimp #23 @ $17.95 Pad Thai Shrimp - Can't go wrong with this. #39 @ $16.95 Panang Curry with $1 Beef - Large portion, delicious Overall, good food and drinks. May need to get more help during busy hours.

Yelp
Great ambience, service, quality and taste of food. All on point. Left feeling so satiated.

Yelp
We were so glad to have a yummy Thai meal on a rainy day. We were visiting from Denver and the rain was nonstop, so finding this cute little corner restaurant with good portions and warm noodles was what we needed. I love when the service is efficient and devoid of niceties, honestly, and that was our experience here. Our food came out fast and hot, and we ate every last bite. I got tofu pad thai (delicious) and my boyfriend got the drunken noodles, which were also great.

Priya P.

Yelp
Best and authentic Thai food I've tasted in a long long long time. The peanut sauce is amazing. It didn't taste like short cut peanut butter was used. They even had a plate for the little one. At 23months, we have a little foodie. He loved the food as well. The service is great, atmosphere and all. I would definitely go back!

Jeff B.

Yelp
Very good Thai food. My spouse likes it and I enjoy all the different choices. Excellent flavor and staff are always friendly to me.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious authentic thai cuisine located in heart of pearl district. Pad ka prao with ground chicken was perfect balance of spicy, salty, sweet with earthiness of basil. Complemented the Pad thai very well. Pad thai not overly sweet with great tamarind notes. Clean environment, fast and attentive service during busy lunch time. Lunch specials during lunch hour. Highly recommend if in area to check out.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good Issan food. Duck curry was very flavorful with a nice hint of heat and it was obvious the ingredients were fresh. The duck itself was very well prepared. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jose G.

Yelp
Everything was a win. So few places are open late and this one does not miss. I had the duck curry and think I could eat three more of those in one sitting because of how surprising and rich the curry and the duck were. A new favorite.

Yelp
I have nothing, but great things to say about this place. We love everything about it. So far we've had the house sodas, potstickers, egg rolls, spring rolls, pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, Thai fried rice, pineapple fried rice and the garlic chicken. The service is great, friendly and remembers faces. The ambiance is chill with soft music playing. The only negative is that we live in Vancouver, but happily travel 25mins weekly to eat here. Five stars!
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food. Don't hesitate to come here and order one of everything. Crispy basil chicken was so on point. Avocado salad rolls? YES please (where have these been, BTW). Crab rangoons? Insert drool emoji here. Just go already.

Yelp
We came here for a quick bite to eat and this place was fantastic. The staff did a great job taking care of us and making sure we were taken care of. All the food came out fresh and so quickly!!! For appetizers, we ordered a papaya salad which was absolutely divine. For entrees, I ended up getting the pad ke mao. The drunken noodles were spicy and the perfect thing to eat during the rain. The Thai coffee was also great. BTW, portion sizes are huge! So consider splitting a few if you order appetizers too. IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

Yelp
Recently tried them for the first time and we will definitely order from them again. Great that they offer gluten free options and GrubHub delivery. The dishes were flavorful and fresh, and their menu offers some options that aren't on every other Thai menu. Pricing was competitive and we felt worth the value that we received. We're definitely adding them to our "visit again" list.

Amber V.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place! They can make almost everything vegan. The Yellow curry was extremely flavorful. Food came super fast. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Make sure you specify your desired spice level - the yellow curry had a kick!

Javy R.

Yelp
This place was awesome! From the appetizers to the customer service we had no complaints! My fiancée ordered the drunken noodles and the tom kha soup and I order the pad thai! Everything was so delicious and the servings were big enough to leave us with leftovers! This will definitely be our go to Thai spot!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the only restaurants open on a snow day. We got Yellow curry with chicken and TomYum soup. It was absolutely delicious and helped to defrost us from the snow. Quick, friendly service and a cute ambiance.

Yelp
This review is for their late night hours. It is perfect after a night out enjoying plays/shows around downtown Portland! Definitely 5 for late night hours. Will update soon with details of what we ate. Our family came in for the first time on 12/09/2022 after the amazing Sweatshop Overlord performance at Portland Center Stage, and again on 1/11/2023 after so much laughter at Moulin Rouge Musical at Keller Auditorium. Yelp info listed hours M-F 11am-1am, Sat 12pm-1am, and Sun 12pm-9pm. I would still call ahead to confirm their late hour before you walking or driving over.

Yelp
We needed a late-night bite to eat after hiking all day which would accommodate our 8-person group and also cater to the all-but-one vegetarians of this group. This place nailed it! First of all, our server was phenomenal! They were so patient with us and the many requests/changes that we made. We are super appreciative of this as sometimes people aren't so nice about this type of thing. They also always made sure we had water on the table and that we never ran out, which was especially important as we were eating some super spicy foods. The veg egg rolls were so tasty! We started with 2 orders for the table then ended up ordering 2 more plates because we liked them so much. I ate the crispy garlic tofu and was surprised by how crispy the texture was AND the deliciousness that came with it. Very impressed and highly recommend! The rest of the group ordered a few different dishes and shared family-style. (I'm a picky eater so I opted out of this). Everyone was completely satisfied with both the portions and the tastes of everything ordered. Also, our server was really good about explaining the spicy levels, which we also appreciated greatly. Definitely stop by if you're visiting Portland or just looking for a good Thai restaurant!

Yelp
The food is probably the best I've had in Portland. The people there are so kind. I recommend the red curry extra spicy!
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
I can't rave about this place enough! Came here with the boo after a concert, expecting a small crowd late at night, but there were still people coming in at all hours! This place has extremely authentic Thai food and a wide variety of options. There are plants everywhere, so it feels like you're eating in a jungle. We ordered the papaya salad and the pad tom yum. The portions were good but the flavors were exceptional! The host was so nice and accommodating. We can't wait to come back!

Joe H.

Yelp
I got curry to go and it was really good. The only thing was that they only filled the rice container whitch is already on the smaller side half way. Like I said the curry was good but kind of disappointing that the rice was skimped on for $17.00. If order Togo I would order extra rice or that they at least fill the container it comes with.
google avatar

Roshan R.

Yelp
Ordered Pad kee mao (drunken noodles) through DoorDash. Quite underwhelming in taste. Way too oily and strong fish sauce flavor. Had better ones. The service was very quick though.
google avatar

Yelp
First time visiting Portland from LA and by far BEST THAI food we've ever had. From the quality of food, ambiance, customer service, alcoholic beverages everything was fresh and done right. You have to get the Thai tea coconut rum drink so good I had to get 2! If you are craving Thai don't waste your money anywhere. seriously can't wait to come back to Portland just to eat here.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while looking for a place to grab a nice casual dinner before a show at PCS. Just a few blocks down the street, it was the ideal location. Easy to park on the street as parking in that area is paid until 7pm. No reservation needed at 6pm on a Friday, and there were only a few other parties in the restaurant while we were there. Lovely atmosphere, loved the pops of color and plants inside. Service was great. Staff was friendly, attentive, and food came out quick. Ordered a thai iced tea, the Pad Kra Prow with ground chicken, and the chicken pad see ew. Both were so flavorful and piping hot. The portions were good for two people to share or if you're super hungry, one person. :) Thai ice tea was nice and refreshing. Prices were also very reasonable. Definitely will make this our go-to spot before our next visit to PCS or while looking for some good thai in the area.

Yelp
Bad experience. Ordered 6 salad rolls to go , Along with Tom yum soup . Soup was good . The rolls were hard - probably because they were Pre-made . I went back next day , and asked for Cod soup and deep fried rolls . After 15 minutes The manager agreed . The rolls were not good . The soup , which they charge 24.00 for , was not Good . They told me next time to bring uneaten rolls Back - not that they don't believe me ... but so they can see for themselves . Fine . When rolls come out one minute after ordering , it's pretty Obvious they are already made . The manager also made comments about the replaced food In front of 4 customers... which I didn't appreciate.
google avatar

Yelp
CONS: finding street parking. I walked a couple minutes but there's other spots to go nearby. If you are in the Portland area, this is a great spot to grab food!! The service is fast and they get busy, workers are trying to get to everyone. They have a beautiful environment and peaceful restaurant.

Yelp
Papaya salad too salty and everything else (duck curry, crispy chicken, mango sticky rice) tooooooooo sweet. Service is good.
google avatar

Yelp
A newer Thai place located in the Pearl area. This location has gone through a couple of different restaurants in the last few years. The decor was pleasant and the service was good. The food is good, and the portions are just right. We ordered the Drunken Noodles, Pad Kra Prow, and the Kao Soi. I really enjoyed the flavors from the Pad Kra Prow. I also noticed that they are open pretty late, which is good if you are looking for some late night eats.

Yelp
Pros: - Food is excellent here! I got the crab fried rice and it was very amazing. Menu has alcohol too, so great place for a big group to drink before heading out a very social area of Portland - Service was great. Owner was there to greet us and we were there at midnight. They were testing their late night dining. Very friendly and recommended some great dishes for us - Generous portions for a great price! Lots of value for authentic and high quality food. Cons: - Area looks very busy so not sure about the parking situation. Overall - this is a great place and would recommend anyone who wants authentic food w/ great service!

Yelp
My co-worker mentioned this Thai restaurant and said ahe really liked it. I looked at the menu and pictures of the food and saw the crispy basil garlic chicken and couldn't WAIT to try it. I've had the same dish at Bai Tong in Seattle and I was HOOKED, but could never find any place that comes close to what I had in Seattle. I am very happy to report that this place is IT! If you've never had it, it is A MUST TRY! LOVE IT!!!

Yelp
They knocked all four dishes that I ordered out the park. The string bean pork belly salad is A+++. I would move close to this restaurant just for that dish alone. The pad see ew had good char and not overly oily even though it was made with pork belly. Yes I love pork belly especially when it's got crispy skin. The pad Thai tom yum is just wow. I never had that dish before and it was beyond what I expected. Lastly the Chicken skewers were tender and full of flavor. Dear Owners, I know you will be popular at some point and when u expand please don't change your recipes or try to keep a tight ship as to not deviate from your current taste. You have something special. Sincerely, a dude that loves Thai food.

Yelp
What a great find on our last night in Portland! We were at a local bar close by and I was yelling late night eats and found this was walking distance back to our hotel. We came in around 12pm and they closed at 1am. The owner was actually there that night and welcomed our entire group. She had told us this was there only second night testing out this late night hour. We were in luck that they were open because we seriously had a great time and left so full! We were the only diners, but I wasn't mad about that because they were so friendly and welcoming like we were family. 7 of us ordered many of their dishes to try and they all came out fantastic. The flavors of their dishes were all well balanced with sweet, salty, sour and heat. Loved the khoa soi, the creamy coconut broth had a nice heat! The egg noodles were cooked perfectly and soaked up the rich broth flavor while the aromatics rounded the dish off perfectly. My other friends who ordered the Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao shared with the rest of the group. Let me tell you, this was some of the best I've ever tasted! These noodles were cooked perfectly and the fire wok flavor just took it to a next level. Our larb duck was so flavorful with the funk flavors which I can tell we're authentic Thai. I wish we had Thai food like this in my neighborhood in the Bay Area, we would be ordering this once a week. Awesome part was they had alcohol as well, so we got to continue a little bit of partying with our food. Honestly some of nicest people you will ever meet! Go enjoy their food, even late nights or Doordash because I need this place to stay open for my next visit. Couldn't have made our trip even more memorable. Thank you again for your delicious food and hospitality.

Yelp
We are staging at the Hampton in the Pearl District and ordered on DoorDash. It seemed like the food got here before we closed the app, it was unbelievable. I had Garlic Tom Chicken which was light, flavorful with the fluffiest rice. My friend had curry that was so piping hot (bc how fast the food got here) she had to wait a minute to eat. We shared pork potstickers as well. They were delicious but the ginger was in chunks that were a little larger than I'd like but the flavors were delicious. Only downside was that they didn't include any napkins or plasticware.
google avatar

Janelle K.

Yelp
So happy to find a queer friendly place for Thai here in Portland. Great food and service.
google avatar

Yelp
Flavorful food fast service and cute decor what's not to love for the quaint little cafe! A new go to for lunch and I've yet to taste anything that I wouldn't want to order again.

Yelp
Wow, what a great new Thai spot for the neighborhood! I've walked past this new spot a few times, thanks to the abundance of interesting stores and restaurants along this block - and was surprised recently to discover Zabpinto! After a long day, I opened the door to their space, and was greeted by a few super energetic staff members. They gave me a great overview of the menu, the space, and of Tutu and Brian's plants from nextdoor. I was surprised to hear how quick Thai food takes to prepare, since I was hoping for takeaway. After fewer than five minutes, my meal was ready, and it smelled so nice. While waiting, there were a few nice little waiting areas to sit amongst the plants and the unique designs filling the restaurant. The owners and staff do a great job to make this space welcoming. Once returned home, I was surprised how well cooked - and perfect - everything was. It is rare to be so excited about takeaway Thai, so I will have to return to dine-in at Zabpinto sometime soon. For anyone looking for elevated That cuisine without the waits or demands of nearby Thai Peacock or Farmhouse, this is the chill and very good quality alternative. Also, the staff rocks!

Yelp
Very clean restaurant with excellent food. We ordered the crab Rangoon, Pad Thai and Pad See Ew with chicken. The quality of this food was excellent and both dishes were spiced appropriately and as we ordered. Everything was very fresh and the crab was not imitation. Server was friendly. Very casual atmosphere with a small amount of outdoor dining. Would go back and would recommend.
google avatar

Gabrielle V.

Yelp
They definitely missed out on our requested spice levels (everything was super mild), but the food was hot, fresh, made very very quickly and the service was super friendly. Overall, there are a tonnnn of places in Portland and I'm not here often, so I don't know if we'll be back (always got a long list of places to try) but I would recommend this place for late night Thai eats with a diverse menu and friendly service!
google avatar

Tran T.

Yelp
The presentation was lovely, and the coconut green thai tea is a MUST! The creamcheese wonton were loaded and crispy, however the pad thai and curry portions were a little small. The food took a really long time to come out. The service was okay, and the location was in a nice area! Very clean inside, and I appreciate how this place closes late which is perfect for a late night bite
google avatar

Zoe x.

Yelp
Blah. Mediocre and expensive. This was one of the most bland meals I have had in a while. Never get the spring rolls (think a bad version of TJs frozen rolls). How has this been surviving in the Pearl (land of good food)?
google avatar

Maybelline S.

Yelp
Our 2 days trip in Portland, we ate here 2 times!! The food looks great, and it tastes AMAZING!!! We came here because it is close to the hotel we stayed. It was surprisingly authentic thai-esan food! I will definitely dine here again if I get to come back to Portland. Everything is fantastic! I would recommend it

Yelp
Deliciously spicy! Our order: Pad Kee Mao-wide rice noodles, stir fried with egg, onions, bell peppers, fresh chili, garlic and basil topped with bean sprouts and lime. We chose chicken as our protein and asked for it spicy. The dish was savory and sweet with a little jab in the face of heat. Green Curry-eggplant, bamboo shoots, bell pepper, coconut milk, and basil. Chose shrimp as our protein. Creamy with really well cooked veggies. Crispy Basil Garlic Tofu-deep fried tofu chunks tossed in sweet house special garlic sauce topped with crispy basil. Delicious! Tasted like spicy and sweet orange chicken!
google avatar

Imelda K.

Yelp
Decided to go here since the reviews were so good. We ordered the Coconut Shrimp and Salad Rolls to start and the Pad Thai and Thai Rice for main. The mains came out more or less at the same time as the starters. The shrimp were so skinny, it looked like they had been cut in half down the middle and refried a few times as the coating was very dark. The Pad Thai was very bland and tasteless. The protein was strangely not mixed in with the noodles and just sitting on the side of the plate. The Thai rice was also very bland and quite greasy, and had three random, uncooked small tomatoes on the plate. I really wanted this to be a great local place to eat, but sadly it wasn't. The best tasting thing was the side of peanut sauce. We won't be going back.
google avatar

Selena N.

Yelp
My boyfriend went here after a hike in Forest Park. We got the salad rolls and I got the basil garlic stir fry and he got the Pad chicken cashew nut stir fry. It was so delicious. Loved the way that they used their spices. I did all for medium heat and it seemed pretty mild, but other than that it was really delicious. Great service and atmosphere too!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered lunch for the office, the service was quick and the staff was friendly. Loved the spice and flavor. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Tasty and friendly! Best pad sew ew I've had in a long time. The pad eggplant was spectacular as well. We really enjoyed the friendly staff, decor and cooking show on their large flat screen tv.

Yelp
New favorite Thai place in the area (maybe all of Portland). Granted, been here only a handful of times, but it always hits the spot. My partner and I like to order the Crispy Basil Garlic Chicken along with the Duck Curry. Unbelievably delicious.
