"Zak can be a bit nuts during busy season, but we still firmly believe the Kosher bakery is worth braving even the winter Wynwood crowd. Inside the flour-dusted space, there’s a rotating cast of croissants, danishes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and traditional Jewish baked goods like boureka and babka. You can grab all of that to go. But you can also sit at a table and eat some delicious dishes between various forms of bread. Their eggy breakfast sandwiches are simple and satisfying, and the challah french toast is the perfect combination of crunchy and custardy. The restaurant is open every day except Saturdays for Shabbat, and they take reservations too." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"Zak the Baker didn’t always make bagels, but when they finally put them on the menu, we knew it was going to be a home run. We were right. You can tell months of development went into making these bagels from both the bubbly crust and perfectly distributed seasoning. We’d inhale this all on its own, but you can get your bagel topped with tuna salad, whitefish salad, and nova." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"Zak is not only partly responsible for establishing Wynwood as a place to eat delicious things, but this minimal kosher bakery continues to make some of Miami’s best bread and an assortment of pastries that should absolutely be coming home with you. Get the babka, a bagel, or any sort of eggy sandwich. Crowds can be intense, but takeout is an option or they'll text you when your table is ready, so you can kill time by wandering around Wynwood for 30ish minutes. They also take reservations." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"Credited with starting a neighborhood barter system around mangoes a few years ago, this bakery began swapping mangoes for items like scoops of ice cream, loaves of bread, or an order of chicken wings, a practice that many other restaurants and bakeries in the city have since adopted." - Allison Ramirez
"Zak The Baker is a kosher bakery, and one of those places that we write about so much it’s getting hard to find new things to say about this Wynwood classic. So just trust us when we say that everything here is amazing. The babka, various sandwiches, bagels, cookies—it’s all worth accidentally driving through a music video while looking for parking in Wynwood. Crowds can be intense during tourist season, but we've never had to wait much longer than 30 minutes for a table." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo
