Best Restaurants Around Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) | Eater LA

"It’s all about Pakistani treats like earthy lamb biryani at Zam Zam, an Inglewood Avenue spot that is fast, inexpensive, and delicious. Go for platters of deeply spiced kebab, topped with herbs and sliced onion; nihari (a Delhi-style stew); chicken karahi; and dal tadka — swipe up the last vestiges of curry with puffy, blistered garlic naan pulled fresh from the oven. There’s a market side to the shop, as the namesake suggests, and also a comfortable sit-down area for those who have time to linger before or after their flights." - Eater Staff

The 21 Best Indian and South Asian Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"This humble market and takeout restaurant has a smaller but excellent array of mostly Pakistani dishes, starting with flavor-packed biryani. Chicken tikka, beef kabab, and plush naan are also on the compact menu, along with chicken karahi. Weekends bring some specials like lamb pulao. Call in to order ahead, and take home a packet of dried lentils from the attached market." - Virali Dave

I just arrived home from store and I got 3 pieces of cookies I opened the box and whole cookie has mold. I usually try to give business to local stores but I am very dissatisfied by quality in this store. I got a bite of cookies before I recognize the mold. Selling these cookies can have health consequences in addition to money cost for the consumer. I don’t recommend this store.

Google
Zam zam market has absolutely horrible customer service. They sell expired food items that l've seen many times and other people have noted. It's an extreme food safety hazard that can shut the store down. Secondly the owner is very disrespectful I went there to get sweets and the owner threw a tantrum and became extremely toxic rude and disrespectful with no manners of communicating. The manager was nice and apologized on behalf of the owner and asked me to stay as a customer but I said I will never return. There are hundreds of small businesses like this in the bay area all with great customer service unlike this. I will never return here again. Never recommending this story to anyone. Horrible customer service and expired products. If you care about your health don't go to this store.

Google
I came here for fresh meat. I got ground chicken and ground beef. I was served quickly and personally. I also got some bones and chicken skins for my dog. My dog is super happy! I noticed they have kebabs meat and tandoori chicken ready for you to grill. They have a bakery too. I got fresh thin bread. I will come back here to explore more.

Google
Everything here I love—it feels like my own. The best part is that if you’re looking for real, authentic Afghani food, this is the place to be!

Google
I visited this Halal market with a restaurant yesterday. I ordered rice with meat, but unfortunately, both the rice and meat did not taste fresh. It seemed like the food may have been cooked a day or two earlier. The meat had a bad smell and the rice also did not taste fresh. I was expecting better quality and freshness, especially from a place that serves Halal food. I hope they can improve their food quality in the future.

Haji Alex

Google
Everything is very overpriced. Last week I bought two bread the Cashier charged me $8.99 per each. I hope the store considers adjusting prices to be more fair to regular customers

Google
The Owner is amazing and Nice . I Was Able To Try The Donuts And WOW!!!! Everything tasted so fresh and not too over powering sweet . Google
The listing says it is open from 9am. There is no phone number to confirm. So I am here at 9:15 am , the store hrs posted are from 9am - 7pm. It is closed! With no other notification. They should show more respect for their customers’ time.

Yelp
I love the meat, well cut and clean. Tried their Turkish baklava and was so so yum and fresh- I'm always getting my halal meat from them

Yelp
Zam Zam Halal Supermarket & Restaurant is the last business open in what was once a busy commercial strip. The bowling alley across is closed. The parking area is in poor condition. All along Fremont Blvd. There have been new tall buildings built with commercial units on the ground floor. No doubt when Zam closes, the whole lot will be rebuilt. Zam looks cramped and small. The eatery only has biryani on the menu. There are many kinds of Afghan bakes available. The halal meat market is at the far right side. In front are produce...the refrigerated items didn't have pricing. Surprised to see won ton wraps and egg rolls skins available. In front of the 'fridge are several columns of grocery items. Some unpriced. The checkout counter doesn't use a scanner. Buys: Namai Classic Chai tea (4.99) 10 aluminum tubes -price sticker obscured description, got unsweetened one with no cardamon, just tea and powder milk. -all variants aren't shelved together. -lst cup brewed didn't taste like the versions i usually get in eateries. 1st time buying instant Chai tea mix. *wouldn't buy this version again.

Yelp
I love shopping from this place, however the cashier lady I believe she's new to this place, she's rude and don't know how to talk to people. Plus, I was waiting for her to scan my items so I can leave but she was just being busy on her phone and ack like she's doesn't care about the customer but The other cashier lady, I believe she's an Afghan she's 100% respectful and care about her customer.

Yelp
Good meat selection, not the cleanest or friendliest. Ordering for the restaurant inside is similar to the Seinfeld episode of the soup N***, so as long as you can deal with that, you're good. They have all the frozen items and spices in one stop.

Ruby N.

Yelp
Yesterday i went there with my children to do shopping, underneath the shelf was a dead rat in its trap with blood around it, and my little one played with it as she thought it was a toy, then my older sone yells to leave it as its a real dead rat and called me to see it. When i called the owner to check on it he didn't come right the way, then i went to bathroom washing her hands after she played with it, but the owner still didn't come to check on it, i called him twice to come and see the dead rat under the shelf, finally he came and said its not a big deal to see rats in here. No it's NOT OK to leave the rat trap reachable by children, its NOT OK for my little one played with it and she thought it was a toy. Even the owner Jamal didn't apologized for that what s rude owner who doesn't respect his customers

Yelp
This place is the worst place to get meat. sweet & bread It was my first time when I got meat from this place oh my God I had to throw everything garbage.

Safoora M.

Yelp
I recently bought cream filled puff pastries from here. After eating one and noticing a weird funky taste I still decided to give the other ones a try. Upon biting into a second pastry i noticed MOLD inside and immediately went to throw it back up. Absolutely disgusted as its a huge health and cleanliness hazard!! Be careful with the pastries that may be sitting on the shelf for days... can cause food poisoning and other health issues. Ill be returning these to the store tomorrow to show the owners.

David T.

Yelp
The Photo speak itself they burn the beef patty, The Rice is dry like my skin! The food test like animal food! What an animal the owner is look at your reviews 16$ for this that's insane Look Mr.Jamal (owner) if you can't do it please close your business and be proud of that. Like look the your kitchen ‍‍‍‍

Yelp
Sold me rotten chicken, smelled awful. It was in a tied bag so I did not notice until I got home. Do not buy from this disgusting place.

Yelp
Wow amazing food and very great service, I ordered for a family party and everything came out perfect and this place was recommended to all my Bay Area family. Thank you ZamZam
google avatar

Zak R.

Yelp
Pretty helpful person I spoke to on the phone. They have a large variety of halal and ethnic groceries, halal meat, cooked food, and freshly made Afghan bread (both white and whole wheat). Plentiful parking also. I would definitely come here again!

Lara Summerfield ..

Yelp
The goat meat was excellent my family and I enjoyed it very much! We will come back to the market soon.

Akhter S.

Yelp
Extremely arrogant customer service by the owners. The meat/poultry is not 100% hand-slaughtered zabiha halal. Particularly the imported frozen stuff. Be careful with the expired stuff and cockroaches around the kitchen/bread areas.

Cliff O.

Yelp
Always come here for groceries since they opened many years ago. Small family business everyone is so nice and there is always fresh products and food at fair prices

Ash A.

Yelp
We had ordered Catering service from Zam Zam restaurant for a party of 100 people yesterday (5/22/2022). I must say that the quality and quantity of food was exceptional. All good items were very tasty - Chapli kabob, chicken kabab, bolani, Qabli palo. All our guests really enjoyed the food and most of them were inquiring about the food service as they really liked it. I must also say that I had ordered catering from this place for the first time and it was a great experience. The staff came in and setup all the chafing dishes, got the first servings warmed up, and explained to our help as to where the subsequent servings were in the food warmers. Overall one of the best experience of getting catered food! Thank you Zam Zam Restaurant!

Mushfeque M.

Yelp
Good place for halal meat. Choice of packaged and frozen ethnic food is not bad. Limited choice for fresh fruits and vegetables. Bula i from the kitchen is good.

Syed S.

Yelp
Be careful when you buy groceries at zam zam. Very bad customer service. I bought SWARNA flour from them few days back. When I opened it I found bugs in there. I understand when you buy groceries sometime you get surprises, the bad part is that the guy at the register was looking at me that I was lying and said I can't return/exchange it. I buy groceries from zam zam a lot every month but will never buy anything from here anymore. I normally don't give any negative comments to small business but due to their bad customer service I'm giving this review so other folks are aware what they are doing. I left the SWARNA flour 'atta' at the register. BAD BAD BAD.

Freshtah A.

Yelp
Zam Zam supermarket has everything in one place, grocery, fresh meat and fresh bread all the time. We ordered food to go and Ray in the kitchen provided excellent service with a very professional and Pleasant personalty! The food was delicious! Thanks Ray

Shabnam H.

Yelp
I request for me everyone never ever go to this shop that's not only my concern everyone sees that and today I saw it I want to buy food and they had warms and I'm going to post the bubblegum they're using that's not Halal
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
Absolutely Bad customer service . Took korbani order for beef - and gave goat instead. The owner guy flat out lied and pretended that he called and verified with my mom lol. Arrogant and rude. Never again.

Agha S.

Yelp
Extremely rude employees. The cashier answered the phone to her friends and tells me to hold on, and I was standing there waiting like an statue for 3 minutes so she can hang up. The cashier doesn't know how to do math and serve the people. Customer service is important and these guys should know.

Hameed Safi S.

Yelp
Worst place to shop everything is bad but when you take it back they act super rude and unprofessional i regret shopping here waste of money all products are bad and expired stay away and don't waste your money shopping here
google avatar

Sakeb K.

Yelp
I hate to put a negative review for a Halal place, but when it comes to health and hygiene, it's my responsibility to make the community aware. I bought creams rolls from this store and gave it to my kids. The elder one immediately complained that it tastes weird; so when I took a look, the cream inside was heavily covered with green fungus. I have called the store and requested to take the item down ASAP. By looking at the amount of fungus and considering the mild weather, It seems that its at least more than a week old. Can we expect a little bit of responsibility and honesty from the owner in exchange of our loyalty as a customer?

Sayed A. Z.

Yelp
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for The best Icecream in the Bay Area, California. You have to try it. They make it fresh with rose water, cardamom topped with pistachio, and qaimaq ( Afghan style cream of milk) It reminded me of Kabul jon. Thank you Jamal Jon

Tarek A.

Yelp
I never do reviews, but this time I felt it's a must as i felt it's a duty to save others. If I can give zero I would definitely do. I'm extremely frustrated and devastated from such a dishonest place. I purchased chicken and lamb from their butcher. The quality was terrible. The chicken was really old, smelly and blue in color my wife had to threw n the trash, we couldn't even donate to anyone as it's really dangerous.. The lamb looks like it has been sitting in the freezer for a very long time. I'm not sure how does he got the ethics to sell people things like that. This can cause lots of health issues and it's really hazardous for human life. It's our last time to lay a foot in such filthy place.

Yelp
I would like to let all the Muslim Brothers and Sister's know that be careful of this place in buying Meats and Can Foods. This place advertises that everything is Halal inside the store but guess What it's NOT. Canned Beef and Canned Mutton's are NOT. That makes me wonder if all other Meat in the Butcher is Halal. They also have a huge Banner Hanging in the Butcher Area saying that the are Selling Halal Meat from HARRIS RANCH. This place is off Hwy 5 in Coalinger, CA and does NOT sell any Halal Meat at the Location. https://www.harrisranch.com/gallery/restaurants/ I was in the store this afternoon and they were stocking up for RAMADAN. I over heard a vendor telling the store owners wife that whatever she was trying to get from this vendor comes in 2 different style. It's the exact same product that comes in as HALAL and also non halal. I really should have paid more attention to what was the product they were talking about. Just be very careful while shopping at this So Called HALAL Store. I have attached couple of pictures showing especially the Corned Beef which is NOT HALAL.

Yelp
This store is filled with arrogant seller. We had 2 incidences based on which I would not recommend this store.Never go to this store. Their customer service shows where they belong to. 1) Baklava they sell was spoilt. I took it back to them and the cashier refused to check it. He told us to go to a anyother store if his Baklava is spoilt... 2) We had bought Phyllo dough sheets and when I opend it at my home, it was ll dried out. The same guy told it is not his problem if the itmes he sells are spoilt..

V B.

Yelp
Fresh meats. The store never smells. Clean fresh meat. Chicken lamb and beef. Roghni naan is also very good. Thank you.

Hariss Y.

Yelp
Extremely rude customer service that yelled at us in the store. uncivilized people I can't believe this place hasn't closed down. I do NOT a recommend this place if you want quality customer service.
google avatar

Dave F.

Yelp
Oh my God! Flies and bugs on the fruits and vegetables, very high prices on items other shops sell for much less, stale old bread and baked items, very rude service and a $10 minimum on credit card and debit card purchases! Ridiculously rude girl working on Sunday nights, always on her cell phone and eating and drinking while working, rude, disrespectful, and very unprofessional. The board of health should shut this place down! Disgusting, better to eat food from a garbage can. Seriously.
google avatar

Asad D.

Yelp
The worst place you could ever imagine I went to buy two Afghan Bread I give him my debit card the owner of the shop told me give me five dollars cash or you need to spend another five dollars I told him why usually other business owners charge 50 cents or 75 cents extra and you want me to spend another five dollars that's totally insane they always trying to rip off people

Tijnas B.

Yelp
They do not wear masks at the butcher counter where they also handle food with their bare hands - no gloves. The guy at The butcher counter also rubbed his nose a couple times with his wrists while I was there. Absolutely no regard for safety. Avoid at all costs.
google avatar

Yatin R.

Yelp
Fresh meat at the butcher, which is pretty much what I go there for. It might not be the most spiffy place, but the meat is fresh, and already cleaned; a welcome change from the other place I used to go to, where it looked like the butcher was doing you a favor by even glancing in your direction. Here, the folks are really nice. They also have Apple-Pay, if you ask them. Ample parking outside. Have other groceries, including fresh vegetables, fruits, and dairy.
google avatar

Mahesh K.

Yelp
I love the sweets they have specially Baklavaa and They have good quality and fresh halal meat very clean About the restaurant they made Boolani which is so tasty and the owner his name is Jamal he is very nice person I love this place
google avatar

Mohammed A.

Yelp
The best Grilled food I had. specially the Bolani. And great customer service. And you know what they have fresh meat and they pampered me like a child.
google avatar

Zaki M.

Yelp
The staff here is super rude not at all respect for the customer. Just hate to goto this place. Note : Make sure when you buy grocery here u check expiry date because many items they sell expired ones be careful
google avatar

Naima M.

Yelp
One of my favorite grocery stores I find what I need every time clean place and affordable prices
google avatar

fatima N.

Yelp
I called this place and ordered food for my sister and parents As they moving. I ordered Bolani, a chicken kabob and a beef kabob. The kabobs both were rock hard and dry and the bolani... HAD A LONG BLACK HAIR COOKED INTO IT. I called them and complained and they said WELL BRING BACK THE FOOD AND ILL REFUND REMAKE YOU FRESH FOOD TOMM. Okay good enough. The next day comes I asked my mom to grab the food, for some reason she only grabs the bolani and forgets the kabobs. They take it back and they only get refunded for the bolani... like you see the hair? Based on that alone you should offer an apology and compensation for the entire meal due to the fact that any normal person would immediately stop eating when they find a long black hair cooked INSIDE their meal. No one would actually question that. These people are money hungry and clearly don't care about their customers or quality of their food. Clearly lack of hygiene since there was a hair in the food.... anyway check out the pictures of my sister pulling the hair out....
google avatar

Haris Y.

Yelp
Never have ice cream during business hours. Always a different excuse about washing the machine early.
google avatar

Qasim Z.

Yelp
What the heck is wrong with their cashier(s). There used to be an Indian lady who was really smart and always used to help us pack our items correctly but now it's abysmal. In the last two visits, the cashiers forgot to scan all the items and we had to go back to make sure they gave us everything we added to the cart. Secondly, the quality of their fruit is terrible, I bought pomegranate twice and they were rotten completely inside. Not recommended for groceries but their meat quality is good that's why three stars.
google avatar

Tiffany Michelle L.

Yelp
This is probably the best baklava I've had thus far. They had two kinds, the flat one, and the roll shaped one. Makes me want more just thinking about it. If I had to choose between those two there I'd want the round one again! :) oooooohhh soo good. I want some with some hot tea! The service was very nice and friendly. Good prices on the super-small produce section that the had.
google avatar

Maro I.

Yelp
Bought a around cake , opened on Eid day, had mold on it. Please check your product before selling them to your customers.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Disgusting store. Rude customer service, the young girl and guy at the front had no customer service skill not even hi to a customer walking through their doors. I went to get bread and was told no wait 20 minutes but the older people came and they handed it to them right away. I am a fair skinned middle eastern and clearly understood their talk amongst eachother I will never return to this establishment after today
google avatar

Segun D.

Yelp
As soon you walk into zam zam the amount of smiling faces sets the tone. I often come for the fresh bread, which is plentiful and delicious. My friend in the area suggested we try them for lunch (something they had done manu times). At this point, I should have known I was in for a treat. It's rare my friend would proclaim a store the best for a particular type of dish. I had never heard of "Bolani" and It was so flavorful that I found myself sneaking back for more. I find myself going back to try new things and the friendly staff really takes the time to make sure you're happy and suggest new things. I have to admit, having Jamal stop as I eyeballed a few samosas and tell me they were still hot from the oven was typical of the service here. They also have different grocery goods and an outstanding meat department that is always fresh. This is truly a neighborhood gem in irvington.

Muhammad J.

Yelp
Please stay away from them they are selling item on 10 time higher then original price they charge me 485 $for just one qurbani they are cheater very bad customer service buy stuff from Costco and sell it 10 higher price original I would not give this one star they derserve not even one star and meat was full of fat and bones as a proof I provide pics of charging me 485 for this
google avatar

Sanaa S.

Yelp
This place may have seen some nicer days but our visit to it yesterday was far from good. Looks like Halloween came early. Depressing interiors and exteriors reeking of bad management, or just I-don't-care management. Anyways, I was so turned off by their "restaurant" that I just made my way to the meat section. The only good thing there were the smiling faces of the meat cutters. The goat (after cooking) was slightly smelly, definitely NOT fresh (and I know my goat!). The ground beef was okay. Will never return to this place again.

Yasemin A.

Yelp
I went in today on 9/30/20 to return an expired meat. My husband and I had no idea that it was expired until we ate a piece (it was pastirma). It expired over a month before we bought it in July 2020. I tried to return it and get my money back but the kid wearing a red t-shirt and blue mask told me to "check the expiration date before you buy it" and "call the company". He also told me that with no receipt and opened, they cannot return it-which is understandable because its not Costco afterall. That is very wrong to say because it is the store's responsibility to provide fresh products and the customer shouldn't have to look at the expiration date-they should be able to trust the store to provide fresh products. Also if there were any defects, its the store's responsibility to contact the company not the customer. I also saw today that their meat in the freezer was all bad (brownish red and I told that to the kid, but he said he'll check it out-I guess they don't check their meat daily.). Very wrong and bad attitude. My overall rating of this store is going down. Not to mention that there was a customer in the store who was not wearing a mask and no one prevented him from entering the store. I don't recommend going here unless you have to.
