Zareen's - Review - Redwood City - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This casual Pakistani-Indian restaurant has been wowing diners across the Peninsula since opening its Mountain View location in 2014. And after one bite of the rich, tomato-forward chicken tikka masala, or the grilled chicken boti thali, it’s easy to understand why. The space at this Redwood City location with cookbook-lined shelves feels cozy and intimate—families and tech workers alike feel equally at home sharing top-notch curries, thalis, and specialty items, like the aloo samosa burger—think of the, but swap the beef patty for smashed samosa filling and add a mountain of masala-spiced fries. Just know that when the menu refers to an item as “spicy,” it’s not an over-exaggeration." - Gabi Moskowitz

I recently visited Zareen’s Restaurant and Catering and had an incredible experience. I ordered the chicken sizzler, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had — full of flavor, tender, and sizzling hot, just the way it should be. We also tried several other dishes, and every single one was delicious and fresh. The customer service was exceptional — friendly staff who made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. One thing to note: we ordered chicken samosas, but they weren’t traditional samosas. They looked and tasted different — more like stuffed pastries — but still really good. Definitely worth trying. I’d highly recommend Zareen’s for anyone craving bold, well-prepared desi flavors with excellent service.

Came here for dinner and the place was packed, which usually feels like a good sign. Prices were fair, and the service was great friendly, quick, and really on point even with how busy it was. The atmosphere had a nice buzz without feeling overwhelming. I ordered the Chicken Tikka, and while the sauce had good flavor, it was extremely spicy even on its own and the Naan was warm and tasted good. I was hungry, so I had to man up and power through it, but the spice level really overpowered the dish. The chicken itself was mostly chicken fatty and skin, and a few bites had a burnt taste. I’ve had better Chicken Tikka before, both in terms of flavor balance and meat quality. This one just didn’t hit the mark for me.

We stopped by this restaurant for dinner on a Saturday evening, and it was buzzing with energy. One of us had been a regular at their Palo Alto location and couldn’t stop raving about it—and now I understand why. The ambiance was lively, with vibrant wall art adding to the character of the space. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. You place your order at the counter—there’s usually a line—and then your food is brought to your table. The menu features a wide range of Indo-Pak dishes, with both thali and à la carte options. We started with a warm cup of tea and then each of us ordered a different thali. Thalis typically include yellow rice, salad, a vegetable or dal, and your choice of a main entree. I opted for the shami kebab thali, as did one of my friends, while the other chose saag paneer with naan instead of rice. The portions were generous—definitely more than I could finish. The salad was fresh and refreshing, and instead of dal, we received a basic but tasty aloo sabzi. The shami kebabs came as three house-made patties made of minced meat and lentils. They were flavorful with a bit of spice, though not the best I’ve had—still enjoyable. What stood out was how the food managed to be filling and flavorful without being overly greasy or heavy, breaking the stereotype often associated with Indian food. All in all, it’s a solid spot worth checking out if you’re in the area. Fresh, customizable, and satisfying—definitely recommended.

Google
Zareen’s in Redwood City is one of my favorite casual Indian-Pakistani spots, and overall, I think the meat dishes actually taste better here than the Palo Alto location — more flavorful, better-charred, and just more satisfying bite for bite. Whether it’s the chicken tikka or lamb kebab, the seasoning and tenderness really stand out. That said, the naan is where this location falls a little short. It tends to arrive less fresh — sometimes a bit chewy or cooler than expected, especially compared to the Palo Alto branch where it’s consistently warm and fluffy. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable if you’re particular about bread (and I am). Despite minor inconsistencies, it’s still a great spot. The flavors are bold, the portions are fair, and the staff is usually friendly and efficient. I just wish the quality across locations could be a bit more aligned — it would make this a five-star experience every time. Still, I keep coming back and recommend it to anyone looking for comforting, spice-forward South Asian food in the area.

We recently dined at this spot and tried a variety of dishes, and I have to say, it was a wonderfully flavorful experience that satisfied every craving. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Gosht, Garlic Naan, Nihari with Rice, and a Mango Lassi to round it all out. Let’s start with the Chicken Tikka Masala: hands down the star of the meal. The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, with a subtle charred, smoky flavor that added depth to each bite. The gravy was rich, creamy, and bursting with layers of spices, it was finger-licking good, and we found ourselves scooping up every last bit with naan. A true comfort dish that hits all the right notes. The Lamb Gosht was also well-prepared. The lamb was soft and flavorful, cooked with just the right amount of spices to make it aromatic and hearty. While I personally lean more toward chicken dishes, I could still appreciate the care put into this one—especially if you’re a fan of red meat. Next came the Nihari, and it absolutely delivered. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth soft, simmered to perfection. The gravy was thick, rich, and full of slow-cooked, meaty flavor. It paired exceptionally well with the garlic naan, soaking up all the goodness and making for a deeply satisfying bite. The Garlic Naan itself was also a standout. It came out warm, generously slathered in garlic and butter, and was larger than expected, perfect for sharing (though you may not want to). It had the ideal texture: crispy at the edges and soft in the center. To top it all off, we ordered a Mango Lassi, and it might just be one of the best I’ve had. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess, and you could really taste the richness of both the mango and the milk in every sip. Cool, refreshing, and perfectly smooth-a great way to balance the spices of the meal. Aside from the food, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere and beautiful traditional decor that made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The service was excellent-prompt, attentive, and friendly without being intrusive. Everything came out in good time. Overall, this place is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic, comforting Pakistani-Indian cuisine in a beautiful and relaxing setting. I’ll definitely be back-especially for that Chicken Tikka Masala and Mango Lassi combo! Highly recommend.

We were visiting San Jose this weekend, and we were recommened about this restaurant. This is the best Pakistani restaurant I have had in a very long time. All their items , including the Nihari, halwa puri, and gola kabab, are absolutely delicious. It surely will take you back to Burns Road Karachi. We were visiting from Houston, Texas, and the food scene there is ligit. But this was a notch above ! My favorite was the chicken charga, which we had two days in a row.

Yelp
The food is great with a great variety and the workers are very fast. Very chill spot to eat out.

Yelp
The customer service here is seriously the best. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. To top it off, the food is great and always consistent. We've never had a bad meal here. Our go to is the chicken tikka masala thali. Which we share along with an order of garlic naan. Plenty of indoor seating and they have an outdoor area as well. I like that there's plenty of sun and lighting inside and it's really well ventilated.

Yelp
Met up with old coworkers for lunch. We got a big table outside. The waitstaff were super attentive. We ordered: Desi paleo salad: 3/5 this salad was just ok, nothing stood out. Chicken tikka masala: 5/5 tasty as always. Can't go wrong with this one. Masala paneer curry: 2/5 bit bland and veggies were mushy. Beef chapli kabab sizzler: 3/5 ok beef patties Garlic naan: 5/5 Samosas: the veggie ones were bigger and better than the meat ones. Oj: freshly squeezed, he liked it. Everything for $100.

Yelp
Zareen's is my comfort food. The Shami kebab, the chicken samosas, gosht, saag gosht, chicken biryani, the sheermal and oh my, the Nihari, it is silken, fiery, and unctuos and such a treat. There is no better Nihari in the U.S, Sabri on Devon St in Chicago comes second. Make sure you have the Nihari with the sheermal and one buttered naan. Do not eat it with garlic naan or cheese naan, they are good in their own right. And for heavens sake, look beyond the chicken tikka masala. And please do not call it chicken 'Tiki' masala. Tiki is a Polynesian bar, not a (somewhat) Pakistani/Indian dish.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food! So much flavor, quick service. Great indoor and outdoor atmosphere. Staff is nice and the place is clean. Yummy strawberry lemonade! Very well priced.

Yelp
Zareen's is fantastic. The service is great and the food is exceptional. The ingredients are so fresh and savory, they really hit the spot for a hearty meal. I ordered the chicken tikka masala thali with garlic naan and mango lassi, and my mom ordered the beef chapli kabab thali. The food came out so quickly and our server asked us if everything went smoothly and if we enjoyed our meal near the end! So thoughtful of her. The naan here is so fluffy and melt in your mouth. There is plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating and there is a parking garage right next to Zareen's that is free for the first hour and a half. Such a great experience dining here!

Yelp
Jalepeno cheese naan- very flavorful. I honestly prefer this over the garlic naan or plain naan. It's extremely cheesy, but may be too rich for you if you aren't a big cheese fan Chicken biryani- did not realize that this was a Friday special. That is why it was so crowded and packed with so many people. Totally worth coming on a friday for this. Very flavorful Chicken tikka masala- creamy, tender chicken. Paneer tikka masala- rich in flavor, cheese has good texture Large outdoor seating. Dozens of tables. I bring my dog and sit outside every time

Yelp
First time at Zareen's! I've heard of this place so many times and there are a few locations in the pennisula area. We lined up to order and then the staff gave us a number stand so we went to find a table. The cashier was really nice and gave me a chai on the house. It was very hot but delicious! The food came in a timely manner and it was delivered to our table. I got the chicken boti thali, which is essentially a deconstructed tikka masala. It was delicious and very filling! My group all got a different entree (chicken tikka masala, lamb gosht curry, and palak gosht), so we had a chance to try a bit of everything, but I still prefer to tikka masala!

Yelp
I like the Mountain View Zareen's. The RWC location is a lot more vibrant and bustling. Line up and order at the counter. Ordered for take out the masala burrito and garlic naan. The burrito comes with a side of masala sauce which is much needed. The burrito itself is pretty dry but chicken is seasoned well with a lil heat. The garlic naan was big and fluffy with crispy edges. Prices are reasonable. Indoor and outdoor seating Parking lot around the corner.

Yelp
Zareen's hits every time! I had ordered takeout from this location before, but this was my first time visiting in person. They were super busy on a Thursday evening, but the line to order moved quickly and service was super efficient. The interior had a ton of seating and colorful Indian/Pakistani decor - it was packed and loud! For food, my boyfriend and I ordered the Chicken Memoni Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, Pilau Biryani (weekly special), Naan, and Rice - all to share. I also got a Mango Lassi for myself. We were given a number and snagged a table outside, since the inside was a little chaotic. The outdoor area was dog-friendly and had propane heaters, which was nice. Our food came out pretty quickly, and everything was delicious! I loved the Chicken Memoni Samosas more than the regular kind, and both dipping sauces were fantastic. The Chicken Tikka Masala was perfectly executed - one of my go-tos. We also loved the Pilau Biryani, and it was spicier than we had anticipated! Super flavorful though. Portion sizes were generous and we ended up taking some of the Biryani home. Overall, awesome for dinner - can't wait to return!

Yelp
tldr: Delicious food, as always--but service needs work. We've been here before and the food never disappoints. This time we ordered the Chicken Boti, Karahi Chicken, Punjabi Chicken Burger, Garlic Naan, and Chai--all absolutely delicious. We also tried the Dal Thali, which was decent, but not something I'd reorder given how great the rest of the menu is. That said, I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the service was underwhelming. The staff seemed checked out--slow, disengaged, and not easy to communicate with. It took a while to get basic things like water or check-ins on our order. Heads up if you're coming on a weekend: expect a wait and long queues. The food is worth it, but patience is key.

Yelp
Great spot. Friendly staff. Quick service. Good food. The chicken tikka masala was yummy as was the jalapeño and cheese naan. Skip the samosas.

Yelp
Food is still bomb dot com, but this review is more so for the staff. You couldn't find a place more special than this. All the bussers are always on top of things and so diligent. Even if you just used a napkin and discard it, they would be on the lookout to clean it up for you already. A+ service and work ethic here. Would come for the cleanliness alone.

Yelp
Came back for the exceptional food, bought the cookbook. Service is fast efficient and quick. You order in line and take a number. Then they come find you. My all time favorite is the Harris Ranch beef Chapli with the garlic naan. So delicious.
google avatar

Mickie A.

Yelp
This place, never disappoints! I eat here almost every time I come to the Bay Area. The food is always hot and fresh. The naan is to die for My especially the garlic. Try one of everything if you can, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
So good it makes me emotional My family and I come here all the time, and each and every single time we're blown away! The service, in particular, Patrick, is wonderful! Always so friendly, attentive and caring. The ambiance is beautiful (see photos) we love the new plants and our favorite spot is near the books, discussing which we've read. The food...oh the food...5 stars just isn't enough. The flavors, presentation, and variety is always amazing. Consistently amazing...which is key. Great love to Zareens!

Yelp
Zareen's on the weekend pedestrianized Broadway was popular for an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon and for good reason! The large modern bright and airy space was refreshing and the service was welcoming and efficient despite the steady steam of patrons queuing to order at the counter. From the queue we could see a bustling throng of kitchen staff working hard to fulfill orders. We had amazing meals: Chicken Shami Kabab Thali Palak Methi Gosht Thali Jalapeño Cheese Naan Beef Chapli Sizzler plus the Piyaaz Salad Everything was delicious but the Beef Chapli Sizzler stole the show, highly recommended!

Yelp
Really good Indian food for a good price. The place is not fancy, it's more like a cafeteria. You order, get a number or tray and find table. Food comes pretty fast & is tasty. - The naan was just fantastic, relatively big and super fresh & yum. - Samosas were pretty good but we've had better too. - The chicken tikka masala was also very flavorful. - The biryani was rather disappointing. Not enough onion & goodies on it. The favor was ok. Won't order it again.

Yelp
This place was spectacular. The service is amazing, even bussers are constantly asking me how I'm doing. The food is such a good value, to go boxes are available in a station where I had to use it because there was just so much food. They even gave me a yogurt drink because it was my first time. I will definitely come back again
google avatar

Yelp
Great food but not the greatest dining environment! Their samosas are super crispy and flavorful and go perfectly with their mint and sweet tamarind chutneys. The chicken tikka masala is perfectly spiced and creamy, and the garlic naan also comes out thin and flavorful. Otherwise, they are always very busy so tables and floors usually aren't very clean. It also gets quite crowded and hectic at peak hours. The last time we visited, a family hovered around our table the entire time we ate, even sitting down on the edge of our table as we were eating.
google avatar

Julianna E.

Yelp
I came by in the afternoon and sat outside in outdoor dining with my dog since the weather was so nice. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the inside was also really nice! I decided to try the chicken tiki masala and their chicken samosas. Both were full of flavor and absolutely delicious, with generous portions. However, the naan really stood out to me, as it was thin, chewy, and paired perfectly with the chickpea side dish that came with my meal. Overall, I had a great experience and I'll definitely be back to try more of their dishes!
google avatar

Yelp
Came to Zareen's on a Friday evening as a party of 4. You order at the cash register and then seat yourself. They have indoor and outdoor seating with heaters. They bring out the food to you. Ordering at Zareen's in Palo Alto felt chaotic.. and the same can be said about the Redwood City location. I decided to order a Mango Lassi, which I wasn't told I was supposed to just grab on the side fridge next to the cash register, so it was a bit of an awkward transaction when I had to go back and grab it myself. That aside... both the food and the mango lassi here are solid. The mango lassi is creamy and has strong mango flavor. For food, I decided to get the chicken biryani with a side of garlic naan, which was a good portion size and flavor, especially paired with sauce it comes with.

Yelp
I've had Zareen's a few times, but wasn't a huge fan until I tried their weekend brunch specials... to die for! Incredibly flavorful and unique dining experience. I was lucky to come with some Pakistani friends who knew what to order: - Karahi chicken (my favorite) - Sabri beef nihari (so tender and yummy, comes with 3 pieces. Slightly more spicy than the chicken, but very very mild) - Halwa-puri naashta (mix of sweet & savory sides w/ thin bread - super unique & flavorful) For breads/naan, I'd recommend ordering multiple types to get the full experience and try each with each meat dish you get: - Garlic naan (classic) - Paratha (cool twist on naan - pan-fried whole wheat bread, slightly sweet) - Sheermal (a bit sweeter and thicker version of paratha, also really good and unique) - Mango lassi (classic, but they do it really well) I'd definitely recommend checking Zareen's out-and trying their weekend brunch if you can!

Yelp
Zareen's in Redwood City? I'm still thinking about it. It's Punjabi Pakistani fusion and the second I walked in and heard Karan Aujla playing, I knew I was about to enjoy some good food. The vibes were vibing. I'm honestly mad I haven't had this in my life sooner. It was packed, so I was really thankful I pre-ordered for pickup. My food was ready the second I walked in, and seeing the line - I encourage you to pre-order unless you're sitting in Let's talk about the one downside. The parking. Bestie. It's a challenge. I was out there circling like I was competing for the last space in the city. Thankfully I found a random spot on the side - I'm pretty sure it wasn't parking, but I had to do what I had to do Now the food. The garlic naan was unreal. I'm Punjabi. I've had a lot of naan in my life, and this one had me genuinely impressed. Soft in the middle, crispy on the edges, garlicky and buttery in all the right ways. Five out of five. The chicken tikka masala was creamy, rich, and full of flavor. I didn't love the chicken texture as much as I hoped, but the sauce? The sauce was the main character. Garlic naan and the sauce = heaven. The saag paneer completely surprised me. Saag is a mix of spinach and mustard greens, and their version was warm, smooth, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. The paneer was soft and the whole thing just hit. Solid 4.8 out of 5. Get both of the chutneys and the pickled onions with jalapeño on the side. They add the perfect kick and give the meal that extra flavor. Spice level was just right for me. If you're spice sensitive, definitely ask for it milder. They don't hold back I didn't try any drinks this time, but next visit I'm absolutely getting the mango lassi! 9.9/10 from me

Yelp
The best chicken tikka masala hands down. My partner and I love exploring the menu but we will always order chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. We will never stray from ordering this because it is just that good! I enjoy how you get to choose where you can sit. Beware some tables outside are at a slant.

Yelp
This review is for the Chicken Zinger sandwich available Monday-Thursday. I guess shame on me that I got a fried chicken sandwich at an Indian/Pakistani restaurant, but that's what did. The sandwich doesn't come with a side, so the fries are extra. The sandwich took awhile to come out and when it did, the fries were not warm, so they were dried out a little bit. The batter on the chicken in the sandwich didn't have any flavor and the chicken was overcooked. The restaurant is very clean with cool artwork, and an open concept, so the restaurant feels very welcoming. Great location downtown. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Finally got to try Zareen's after hearing about it so many times from different friends. The downtown area is so cute, it was my first time in Redwood city. This location is huge. We got there around six so we beat the dinner rush, however it got busy as we were there. There's are many options on the menu and I was a little overwhelmed because I was starving and everything looked so good and I wanted it all lol. I opted to get the lamb thali which I really enjoyed. The lamb Curry was super flavorful. It also came with a cucumber salad, arugula salad and a dhal curry. I didn't really like the dhal curry as much as it was pretty tangy and sour which I'm not really used to. Next time I think I want to try one of the tandoori chickens or the chicken bhoti. I saw many people order that and it looked amazing. I really wish there was a location closer. Maybe one day they'll open a location in San Francisco. I will definitely be back though!

Yelp
This place is always pretty busy. Service was different than usual since they had us sit and took our order at the table. Both the young men who helped us were very nice (one took our order and the other came to charge with a handheld) The chicken tikka masala is on point. The main dish size is easily enough for 2 people. The naan is great, but we opted for the garlic naan and it didn't disappoint. Today it felt like service was a little chaotic and slower than usual because it looked like they had a big party they were getting food to first. Luckily we got an inside table, but they do have outside seating. Water is hard to come by (they were busy to refill and the self-serve station was completely blocked by uber/dash drivers.

Yelp
This spot had been on my list for a while after hearing so many great things about it. I finally found myself in the area and knew I had to give it a try. Right away, I was impressed by the warm and inviting ambiance, along with the friendly staff. There's both indoor and patio seating, and since it was a chilly day, we opted to sit inside. Ordering was simple, you place your order at the counter, take a number, and then grab a seat. We went with the tikka paneer, lamb curry, and garlic naan. When the food arrived, my first reaction was wow, especially seeing the massive garlic naan! The curries were rich, flavorful, and perfectly creamy, making for an incredibly satisfying meal. If you're craving Indian food, I'd highly recommend this place. I'll definitely be back for another visit! Also, the mango lassi was to die for!

Yelp
I had Zareen's bookmarked for a while based on the stellar reviews. This place was packed on a Saturday evening. It's more along the lines of a fast casual venue. The ordering and seating arrangement is a bit confusing and is not the best IMHO. You order the food at the counter first and then try to find seating. They don't want you to sit down first or save a table. The issue is how packed this place gets. What happens if you order you food and there are no seats available? What if you have a big party an need to grab a large table? It's just weird... Pakistani/Indian eats: ~ Lamb Gosht Ala Carte - 4/5 Tender pieces of lamb with potatoes and onions in a slightly spicy gravy. Delish! ~ Palak Paneer Ala Carte - 4.5/5 Very good Palak Paneer. Perfect consistency and texture. ~ Chicken Tikka Masala Ala Carte - 4/5 One of the better Chicken Tikka Masala dishes I had. Not too spicy with a good amount of Chicken. ~ Sabiri Beef Nihari (Beef Stew) - 4.5/5 Weekend Special: Only available on Sat/Sun. I think they should make this a regular menu item. Very tasty, tender beef Shank with Spices. ~ Jalapeño Cheese Naan - 4/5 Basically a Cheeses Quesedilla. Naan Bread stuffed with Cheese and Jalapeños. ~ Sheermal - 4/5 I never heard of this before. Slightly sweet with a mild saffron flavor. ~ Garlic Naan - 4/5 Your standard Garlic Naan. ~ Mango Lasi - 4/5 Good Mango Lasi. Well balanced, not overly sweet or bland. Tasty food! I wouldn't mind returning...

Ordered to-go many many times but this was the first time ever we dined-in. Sat outside under the heaters. Food came quickly. Ordered at the counter, they brought the food to our table. We now have our go to order: chicken tikka and roti sizzler and garlic naan (though this time they didn't have any left so wet settled for plain) and rice. Absolute amazing!! Obsessed and will continue to eat here!

Yelp
My wife and I have always seen this place packed whenever we go to Mazra. It was the typical Friday night where we didn't want to cook so we finally decided to give this place a shot. Boy, were we surprised with how much we enjoyed the food here. The restaurant is essentially a self serve spot similar to Mazra, but you order at the counter first then find your seat. The interior of the restaurant was updated, bright, and lively. On to the food; the chicken tikka masala is like a bowl of gold, paired with the garlic naan makes it 10x better. I'm definitely ordering two garlic naan next visit (rookie mistake). The mango lasi is like a cross between a milkshake and a smoothie, so good. I would 100% recommend the food that I ordered to anyone hesitant on eating at Zareen's!

Yelp
Don't know why I waited so long to come back here ! Great food, friendly staff, lively atmosphere . We had the Australian lamb and the beef patty meals. Added delicious garlic naan. Great Mother's Day meal !

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise when u see your fav eating spot in a different downtown :) lots of tastefully done outdoor seating with heaters and fresh flowers as well as beautiful indoor ambience and tall ceilings. The line was much shorter than their Palo alto location and it was refreshing to see new menu items :) that we ended up trying and loving. In $61, we got: 1. Chicken tikka masala - 5/5 regular standard nut free CTM for the kiddo makes this an easy go to. Lots of boneless chicken and lots of gravy which pairs perfectly with their naans 2. Chicken karahi 5/5 - new item alert!! Loved the perfect spice level, consistency, presentation and huge portion size. It is "with bone" just so you know! And comes served in an actual cast iron kadai 3. Mango lassi 5/5 not too sweet and instantly available 4. 2 plain naans - 3/5 i felt naans looked better at the palo alto location if i was to compare. Otherwise they were standard naans to me 5. Chai - 4/5 hot spiced tea 6. Silver spoon wrap (chicken) 5/5 - standard roll which i really love :) my go to!

Yelp
We come here quite frequently as their food is fresh and exquisite. We got a chicken tikka masala thali along with madras chicken and many garlic naan. The food was fresh and we wolfed it down. Usually this place is very busy with a lengthy line but it was very peaceful today

Yelp
Great place for some halal Pakistani food. It's a bit chaotic and busy but the staff is always helpful and the food came out fast!

Yelp
I've passed by Zareen's countless times when I'm in the area but never had the chance to try it until today. My aunt and I were looking for a quick bite and it seemed like the best spot at the time. The place was packed with people eating outside, so we figured it had to be good. The line was short when we arrived, but it did get longer after we placed our order. We went with the thali with butter chicken, extra garlic naan, and a mango lassi. The food came out surprisingly fast, which was a nice bonus! The butter chicken was super flavorful, and the garlic naan was perfectly crispy and just the right amount of garlic. All in all, it's a great spot to grab a tasty, reasonably priced lunch. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Zareen's is so good! I don't really eat out for Indian food as much. They offer combo platters and we both got the chicken tikka masala one! The texture of the masala is so good and so were the lentils. I love how it comes with a mix of vegetables and salad as well. Their garlic naan is bomb too. Very filling meal. They have a water station as well but the ice sensor doesn't work? But that's ok. You have an option for here or to-go. Order at register first and they'll bring it out to you. This place is located in the heart of downtown Redwood city on a strip. They also have outdoor seating but it's too cold for that. Overall would love to come back and try something else!

Yelp
Oh my goodness! This place is amazing, I went with my friends to try this place out. They hyped it up to me multiple times, and I finally gave in on going. When I tried the chicken tikka masala, it was packed with delicious flavor and the basmati rice was perfect when combined. We got a garlic naan and it was packing with flavor as well! Service was great as servers checked in on us multiple times. I took my leftovers home and also decided to order a jalapeno cheese naan, and ooof it was so good. The only thing is that it is a lot and sharing it with others is the best as they have cheese inside with jalapeño bits but it is not spicy.

Yelp
I may have ordered the wrong things, but I didn't find the food here to be anything special. I tried the Karahi chicken, jalapeño cheese naan, and mango lassi. Everything was fine. The chicken is served in a light, slightly spiced tomato sauce (more like a broth), and even though I asked for "extra spicy," it was medium heat at best. It was $19, and while the portion was decent, I felt this was a bit steep for one person. The naan was ok, a bit softer in texture than I would have liked, and I thought it was way overpriced at $6. The lassi was typical at $5. Overall, after seeing all the rave reviews, I expected better. Perhaps I'll try the sizzling boti chicken next time (that seemed to be popular), but admittedly I'm not running back. There are simply far too many other, quality Indian options throughout the Bay that ought to be prioritized.

Yelp
I've been to this location multiple times, and it always hits the spot!! The food is always delicious, the service is always top notch! My most recent visit proves how kind and patient all of their staff are: I was in line to order for a party of 21. I was handed a menu and attended to right away. Since it's self seating, my car went early to order and guarantee seats. It is a bit hectic to try and get seating for so many people, but staff do a great job of bussing tables in between parties. We were able to secure tables for our party. Throughout our meal, we were constantly checked on and asked if we needed anything else. I appreciated their attentiveness since we had such a large group!

Yelp
Definitely chaotic during peak times but everything is quick. Maybe if it's your first time here, you'll most likely be confused how ordering works. But you first order then choose a table, then grab your own plates, utensils, water. They'll bring your food. Food is amazing, packed with all flavors. Love the parothi! Place has plenty of food places nearby and plenty of seats. Place is decorative with their story and culture!

Yelp
I got dinner here with a friend on Saturday night and it was both of ours first time. You order at the front then find yourself a table. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It was pretty busy but luckily we found a seat. Garlic Naan (3.5/5): The naan itself was good but I expected it to have more garlic! Still nice and flaky though. Grilled Chicken Boti Thali (5/5): The chicken was tender and smokey. The marinade on it was good. It was served with rice, daal lentil, chopped pickled salad, and tikka sauce. Everything worked perfectly together. The daal lentil and tikka sauce were so good too. I am glad I chose the meal to get a little bit of everything. I really enjoyed Zareen's! I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. Service was great too as the person taking our order helped us with suggestions. Food came out quickly even though they were so busy.

Yelp
I was eating next door at Mazra and I noticed how busy this place was, so I knew I had to come back and see what the hype was about! We came back on a Sunday right when they opened and it wasn't too busy at first, but it definitely started to fill up by the time we were finishing our meal. We came with some friends and ordered the lamb and chicken tikka masala curry, garlic naan, and mango lassi. My must orders are definitely the mango lassi, garlic naan, and the chicken tikka masala. The chicken was super flavorful and comforting. My partner loved the lamb and said it was delicious, but I'm personally not a huge fan of lamb. The vibe of the restaurant was super cute, and the service was great! Our food came out quick and everything tasted amazing. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Delicious as always. One of my favorite Indian spots in the Bay, and I love going with family or friends. It's a casual but clean space with a good bit of indoor and outdoor seating. Servers are always friendly, but most of it is "self serve"-- I love the efficiency of grabbing your own water, sauces, extra plates, utensils, and even being able to just grab to-go boxes. A new favorite is the lamb gosht (the one with spinach). Definitely get that with some chicken tikka masala & garlic naan. Their food is so flavorful & fresh!

Yelp
When I'm in the area on an errand, I make sure to carve out some time to stop at Zareen's. I get the vegetarian thali every time. It comes out hot and quick and, for the price, it's tough to beat. Recently the service has gone up a level or two.
