Zeerovers - Review - Savaneta - Aruba - The Infatuation

"The counter-service seafood spot in Savaneta, on the Southeastern side of the island, is everything you could want in a fish shack. There are dockside picnic tables with water views that would put even the priciest restaurants to shame, with fishing boats pulling up to sell their catch. And, true to the theme, the menu features whatever the fishermen have hauled into the adjacent pier that day—think whole-fried snapper, wahoo filets, and fried head-on shrimp—plus local Balashi beer, best enjoyed by the bucket. Although you’re here for the fresh-as-can-get fish, this place also serves knockout plantains and pan bati, a pancake-like cornbread that’s one of Aruba’s signature foods, and one Zeerovers does best." - Jacqueline Dole

"Zeerover A classic fish house in the sleepy village of Savaneta, Zeerover is all about fresh, Aruban-style seafood. Cooled by ocean breezes, the spot may feel like a bit of a dive to some, but its fish comes straight from the sea—in fact, you can watch from the restaurant's perch on the pier asfishermen pull in their catch. The menu reflects whatever the boats bring inthat day, often snapper, wahoo, or even barracuda, and includes savory sides like banana hasa (plantains), pan bati (corn bread pancakes), and funchi (fritters). Be sure to also try the shrimp; the peel-and-eat delicacies are always cooked to perfection. Note: The restaurant is closed on Mondays."

A local spot that is accessible via bus - with a little walk. I told the driver where I wanted to go and let us off at the right spot. Surprisingly, the food as was told to me was gluten free, fish, fries, plantain all cooked in the same oil but gluten free. Being celiac I appreciated this. The food was very good and a great atmosphere for some casual dining.

Zeerovers is a must-visit in Aruba for the full local experience — from the casual waterfront vibes to the incredibly tasty seafood. We had 3 snappers, shrimp, fries, sweet plantains, and cornbread, and the total was just over $50 — very reasonable for the amount of food. Heads-up: the line to order can take 30 minutes to over an hour depending on when you go, as everything is weighed and priced by the pound. Than you're given a number while your seafood is taken to the kitchen to be cooked. The wait is worth it, though! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious except the cornbread, which I’d skip next time. Also, the $4.75 tartar sauce wasn’t necessary — the food stands strong on its own. Service-wise, the staff was friendly and helpful, but the ordering process is a bit slow — still, it’s all part of the vibe. 5 stars for flavor and views, 3 stars for logistics. Would definitely go back! EDIT: After some more exploring, would still come back to for the view & Sunset. For the best fried fish in our experience so far in the island Red Fish was way better for me and is where I would go again for my fried fish addiction.

There is a long line to be seated, for about 30-40 mins but it goes by fast and the food is worth the wait if you are a seafood lover, I’d say it’s worth the wait and a must try while in Aruba! It has a great view by the water and good price for the food.

What a place. The food was so fresh and flavourful, and the ocean view was stunning. The price was so reasonable. This is the place i would recommend to all visitors to come to try if you visit Aruba.

Went to this place for lunch during my stay in Aruba. This place is in a really good location to eat near beach with a great view. I ordered the fried shrimp and Mahi Mahi fish. The food was served at a very good temperature. Also taste was really good. However there is room to improve the service.

Great relaxed place to have some fried seafood by the water - watch the sunset. Low key. Local vibe. Everything's a la carte. Local cash or US dollars accepted. Step up to the first window you come to after everything and order, step to the side window and pay, get a wood block with your number on it, move on down to the next window for drinks, go find an open table. Rows of picnic tables by the docks, or inside near the open kitchen. Set your number on your table and they'll bring your order when it's ready! Great prices. Monster prawns. Tasty fries. So worth a laid back stop around sunset after a day exploring or the beach.

I was visiting Aruba for the first time, my friend recommended this place as it is very popular. There was a really long line, but it was worth it. From the end of the line to the counter was about a 45 min wait, from the counter to the table was a breeze as it’s self seating, and we waited nearly another hour for the food to come out. Everything was super fresh. We got fish, shrimp, fries, cornbread and I tried the pickled onions. The views are beautiful we came right around sunset 🌅 the view def made the wait more bearable.

Zeerover is very unique! Worth the wait in line, don’t worry.. it moves! If you’re with some friends, send one to the bar for a bucket of chills while you wait! Or a homemade popsicle! We got lucky and snagged a spot on the dock! Caught and cooked, doesn’t get any fresher! Fun employees who seem to love their jobs! I don’t blame them 😍 whah a view!
