"There are plenty of trattorias around Trastevere, but when nothing but a fancy tasting menu will do, Zia is your best bet. It’s one of the rare fine dining places where you’ll want to go for fewer courses since the portions are so rich and satisfying. One standout is the tender filet of peppery steak, atop a smooth hazelnut purée and drizzled with sesame vinaigrette, alongside crusty bread served warm with incredible butter. Like other Serious Tasting Menu Restaurants, the atmosphere is exceptionally quiet, and the waitstaff has a knack for appearing right when you need them. Their wine list has an impressive selection of bottles—the last time we were there, we tried a rare 1998 vintage white wine from just outside the city that shockingly paired perfectly with every dish (yes, even that peppery steak)." - Annie Replogle

"A young chef of undoubted talent is at the helm of this restaurant situated behind the busier, more tourist-frequented streets of Trastevere. The chef in question is Antonio Ziantoni (hence the name of the restaurant), who creates imaginative cuisine that is nonetheless based on solid classic foundations – this gives his dishes structure, solidity and real appeal, as well as full and rounded flavours. One of the most interesting Michelin-starred restaurants in Rome." - Michelin Inspector

Dining here was a highlight of our time in Rome! This restaurant came on our radar from having earned a Michelin star - after trying the seven course tasting menu, we can say with confidence that the star is much deserved. Service here was top-notch; we felt cared for at all times and really enjoyed the commentary that was provided when each course was served. Dietary needs/preferences were taken well into account in creating a menu that we both loved. Highly recommend dining here for a special night out - the surrounding Trastevere neighborhood is a blast to explore as well!

We had a phenomenal night at this restaurant last night. This was certainly the best tasting menu we ever had, including the very interesting (and even personally adjusted) wine pairing. Every dish was perfectly balanced, creative and prepared and presented with love. I added a few pictures but I would strongly suggest you take your own whenever you get a chance to do so.

Refined but not pretentious. Service was impeccable. Reasonable price for a Michelin starred resturant. The eel was a showstopper!

Had dinner here last week and it did not disappoint. After spending 2 weeks in Italy eating all of the pasta and pizza, Zia was a much needed reprieve. The staff is incredible and provided us with the best service anywhere throughout our entire stay in Italy. Our server, Marzia, was one of the most kind, personable, professional, and knowledgeable servers I have ever had. I was so thrilled about her explanations of wines from all across the globe. We would dine again at Zia just for her caliber of service.

It was a restaurant with an amazing and powerful experience meal. Literally a museum of food that you are allowed to eat. I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Zia restaurant after reading a good review about it. We ordered the tasting menu. Each dish was better than the last. A variety of amazing dishes with different flavors that I have never tasted in my life. The atmosphere is excellent. The service is amazing. I felt so good, important, wanted. An explosion of fine flavors. We got 11 tastings including desserts The colors, the smells. Even if I try to explain the flavors I can't. The most special restaurant I have eaten in my life. Fine wine Worth every euro think about everything. Thank you very much for the great opportunity. We will be back for sure and in the meantime we will recommend to everyone

Stumbled upon this restaurant while researching the best places to eat in Rome--they were right. Zia's food is amazing, especially for those who appreciate taking the time to really delve into the flavors placed in front of you. The place has a quiet atmosphere and the staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. If you choose the 6- or 8-course tasting menu, the staff do ask if you have allergies or taste preferences to allow for a pleasant meal. Personally, I will try anything at least once, so if you want to be (delightfully) surprised and have no allergies, leave it up to the chef. This was me and my family's first dinner in Rome and I would happily come back for another one.
