"Zima is a contemporary take on a “ryumochnaya” — a Soviet-era drinking establishment known for its relaxed atmosphere and affordable food. Sure enough, the laid-back Soho spot serves the cheapest caviar in London (£1 per gram) and accompanies Russian-inspired street food and cocktails with live sports screenings. The homemade “nastoykas” (infused vodkas) come in a rainbow of flavours (from sea buckthorn to strawberry), best sampled in a 10-shot taster set accompanied with hot and cold starters. Had a lovely meal at Zima today. Was our first time visiting. I really don’t understand some of the negative reviews on here. Firstly, staff were not so talkative but we understood that it was not rudeness but cultural and perhaps waiting staff in Russia are meant to leave you in peace but we certainly didn’t feel unwelcome. If anything it seemed more of a surprise that we weren’t Russian. The interior is lovely and very tasteful, we really appreciated it. Most importantly, the food was wonderful. Portions that you’d expect from a restaurant where you’d want to perhaps eat 3 courses. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Additional services charges are quite common in central London, not sure what people are complaining about.

Had a great experience here today. The food was to die for!!! We had dumpling (Siberian) and dumplings with cherry. Felt like we were back home :) the service was top notch. As well as our shisha. Will definitely come back. Highly recommended

Really good food. It’s got the richness and homeliness of slavic food, all served in an appealing form. The portions are not big which is amazing. I had a starter, main and dessert and I was only full (nor bursting) by the end. I got to eat more variety and it was all delicious. This tends to be rarer as a solo diner, so I really appreciated it. I primarily came for the Syrniki but I was pleasantly surprised by the rest. I would rate this place quite highly for a date. It’s the right atmosphere and definitely the right presentation.

Located in a super crowded area but inside was pretty quiet. The beetroot salad was my favorite but dont think that the dumplings were the best. They didnt have a lot of filling and the portion was small. You pay a lot for the portions you get, but I guess that’s the location. Really cool decorations, and service is nice.

From the start walking in, felt some unwelcoming vibes, asking if I had a reservation when there were barely any customers. Food was decent at best, I got the beet salad and pan-fried smoked salmon. Right after I finish my meal some lady just quickly takes my plate without a word. Lastly, they included an automatic service charge(tip) to the bill , which is fine but then the server has the audacity to present me with another tip option window on the card machine, trying to be slick, like they hope you don’t notice you are tipping twice.

I was looking forward to trying this place for a long time, as I grew up with Russian food, unfortunately the food here is quite bland, the dumplings really lacked flavor and the borsh had an unusual meaty taste, the presentation overall was good but definitely not worth the price as the portions are very small. Would not come back. The service however was very attentive and friendly.

First time in my life I left restaurant feeling hungry after 3 dishes. Portions are tiny like in Michelin restaurant, but taste is nothing special. It’s unacceptable for a Russian restaurant with these prices. If you never tried Russian food I guess it’s the only option in London but if you wanna feel like home and have proper size meal like babushka makes, def don’t come here. 2 stars only for Syrniki cause they make them really well, but they are still tiny.
