"Zino is a new Mediterranean restaurant opening at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza, taking over the space previously occupied by the restaurant Five. Executive chef Brandon Hicks, who has experience at Michelin-starred Picholine and other notable New York establishments, will lead the kitchen. The menu will include dishes from 22 Mediterranean countries, featuring seafood, meat, poultry, mezze, and tagines. The bar will offer cocktails, beer, and wine. The restaurant is set to open in late summer after a remodel by designer Anthony Laurino." - Caleb Pershan

The service is fantastic. The Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their foods. Coffee is the best and they are proud they serve San Francisco Peerless Brand Coffee. I am a huge fan now of this delicious and bold tasting coffee. The food is good. The breakfast menu is limited. They are fast with their service and the food is hot. I look forward to trying their dinners. Reasonably priced and a Mediterranean cuisine. I give the bar a Five Star hands down for their epic drinks 🍸 Marlon is the supervisor and he has many Specialty crafted Cocktails. Great service and friendly staff.

The atmosphere and environment is good but it’s a little bit pricey.

Excellent! Everything was delicious! Service was fantastic. Ambiance was lovely. Definitely recommend! We were in town on business and found Zino online. Went in on a whim and I'm glad we did! We started with the spreads which were absolutely delicious. Cocktails were fresh and fun and interesting. Entrees were mouthwatering. I had the lamb which fell off the bone and melted in my mouth. Friends had chicken/vegetable tagine. Somehow we found room for dessert and that was just as delicious. Chocolate tart and the peach tart are a must! The gelato on top was delightful by itself.

This place used to be great, but then a bunch of woke liberals took over and started shoving their progressive agenda down everyone’s throats. If you want to make good food, okay, but why does every idiot have to have an opinion? And why do they think I want to hear every stupid thing they have to say? I go (used to go) here to get some decent grub, but I won’t be returning. I don’t care what people do or believe (as long as they are not causing anyone harm) but just give me some decent food and keep your mouth shut. Seriously, your job is to make food, not tell me how to think or behave.

Have been recently and the new menu is absolutely delicious! But the service was the cherry on top. The server who helped us, Leu, went above and beyond. Can’t recommend enough!

The food and ambience is excellent. Just a bit pricer but fresh … hot chocolate is one of the best I had.

Hadn't been here in a long time. Menu did not really read as "Mediterranean " but both of our dishes were excellent, salmon and sea bream. Really really good food. Our server Ignacio was attentive and gracious. The bar was out of some ingredients, which made the special cocktail menu obsolete… However the bartender literally came over to our table and worked out what we might like instead of our original orders, and the drinks thus negotiated were so good we ordered seconds. The restaurant was festively decorated with Christmas trees, which I was hoping for and appreciated. It was very quiet, I hope business picks up because we had a lovely experience and it's different from my usual "hot" dining spots in Berkeley where you can hardly hear yourself speak much less hear your dining companion. Our overall experience was relaxed and elevated.

Food was really disappointing. Limited menus. Minuscule overpriced portions. Bland food. My order was naked pasta with steamed vegetables. No sauce. No seasonings. And small portion. Will not visit the restaurant again,
