The new remodel of Zippy's is absolutely amazing. It's hard to believe how much additional sitting room they have now. The new bar is huge and they have phone chargers. The only thing that I am disappointed about is that they don't serve tamales anymore. It's still one of my favorite places in Baton Rouge

Google
I took my mom’s here for Mother’s Day; we had a couple of drinks, a big tree of nachos and watch some LSU football, I mean baseball

Google
Went on a Sunday afternoon and service was quick, the place is nice and the food was yummy. The chimichanga with beef was perfect, and the nachos were huge, plenty enough to share.

Google
Ordered from door dash and I am very impressed with this place. The burrito is so stuffed and full of flavor, the salsa and queso are amazing, but the empanadas were over cooked (that seems to be a problem with most places around here). Overall it was very filling and tasty! Oh and maybe they could add napkins next time....it was a bit messy but in a good way!!

Google
What a great, fun, cool and eclectic place. Fast casual counter-service with plenty of seating and TVs for game day. Mathew and Lewis are great host and make a mean Margarita 😎👍 Love the bar with both cocktails on the rocks or frozen. Ordered nachos with a variety of toppings to choose from… very good. New favorite neighborhood hangout! We will be back.

Best frozen beverages in Baton Rouge!! Quality staff members ensure you always have a great experience! Make sure and ask the bartenders to do Derrick’s special blends….

Google
The portion size for a single taco has *significantly* decreased. One taco is $4.75. I was done in two bites…no joke. I used to regularly purchase the taco platter which came with two (normal sized) tacos, chips, a side of rice and refried beans. This was reasonably priced and more than enough food. Unless I misread the menu, the taco platter no longer exists. I can no longer comfortably eat here when I must spend an egregious amount of money for such a small amount of food. A meal for two people was > $40. The new renovations are nice, though. The service has always been good. Just disappointed in the change in menu, the portion sizes and price for a taco!

Called to try and speak to a manager about a shellfish allergy and how they accommodate it. Guy answers the phone and says…. “Hello?” I ask if this is Zippys, he responds yes and then I ask to speak to Manager. He says, one sec, or so I thought. He said “what’s up”. Idk. Just super unprofessional. He ended up hanging up on me. When I called back I couldn’t get an answer. Multiple times

Yelp
Felt like a college hangout. Burrito was okay. Kitchen where they prepared food looked pretty dirty and messy. Wouldn't really recommend in spite of 3 stars

Kayla C.

Yelp
This has been long overdue :) If you are in the LSU area this is the SPOT to go.. that's for college kids and/or business people/parents whatever. I say that because they give you a space to hang out.. a patio just to chill. To drink.. To eat.. This is rare now adays. Great drinks. Great food. I either make a large burrito with allll the good stuff or make nachos. Standing in line at a new place can be overwhelming. Especially somewhere like here! Relax. They will take of you. PS I think of Louis the bartender.. Now i think owner? The star of the show! Kindest you'll ever meet. I've known him for over ten years and has done some cool marathon running down the river.. but just ask him yourself when you go!

Yelp
A football pre-game spot that I will always treasure! They are currently redoing the restaurant, so there was tons of construction outside, but this is still a gem and hasn't changed, which I love. You order at either the food counter or go to the bar to order a drink and they bring the food out to you. It is seat yourself with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Also, they pick up your tray when you are done. I went here as a pregame meal before a home LSU football game and service and food were spot on. Plenty of tvs playing different football games and staff was dressed in LSU attire. A little hole in the wall burrito, margarita, chips and queso place that tastes out of this world. I always have to get a marg and chips and queso. I switch up between a skinny marg or a strawberry and kiwi marg... both are sugar free and it states that on the machine, again which I love. It is a little pricey, but the sizes and portions definitely reflect the price because they give you so much of everything. The chips and queso I could eat everyday haha. The chips always taste fresh and the queso is perfectly hot everytime.

Amy H.

Yelp
From Indiana, and we found this absolute GEM near LSU and our hotel. The best food and the nicest people! The frozen margaritas are the best I have had. Louie the general manager was kind, helpful and so friendly and welcoming. We will recommend to all our friends who come to Baton Rouge! Thank you!

Yelp
These nachos were the besttttt. I was a bit worried that they would go too light on the shrimp but they put a great amount and they were well seasoned. We had a spill during our meal and the servers made us feel not stressed and it was cleaned up quickly.
google avatar

Renee R.

Yelp
Ordered shrimp chimichangas through Uber. Now I used to live in Arizona and my mother in law was second generation Mexican American. I know what a chimichanga is and whatever we got were definitely not chimichangas.

Reese B.

Yelp
Always good food and a chill environment. Service is usually quick as well. Would definitely recommend.

Ava M.

Yelp
I thought this was a kids burrito, it's 17$ for a burrito that's smaller than my hand
google avatar

Jenn T.

Yelp
Dogs no longer welcome in dining rooms. Health code. They can come in with you to order your food, however! Also, they expanded their entire place, like doubled the patio and the bar! Amazing margaritas still.

Isabella C.

Yelp
Our second time trying and we've enjoyed our experience both times! The parking lot is a little wonky. To be fair, that entire area has wonky parking, but it still makes it harder to enjoy their food nonetheless. The menu is perfect for a go-to burrito spot. The service was great, and I also felt that although the line was long, the servers handled the influx of customers well. We've eaten in once and gotten take out and we definitely prefer take out because the ambiance is not our vibe, but great place either way! Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Zippys is a step up and order what you want exactly kind of place. They will make it just how you want as you go down the line. Julie got a salad and I got a big burrito. They give you plenty!! It's an old building with cement floors inside is roomy with a bar, outside has plastic screens to keep it warm in the winter and they roll them up in the summer. They have a bunch of TV screens with sports all over. It's clean. The staff is busy the food comes hot and fresh. It's a rowdy place with lots of whooping and yelling. Really fun. The food is good! Now we get to their queso. Julie just raved about it and it's really good!! We are going back and you will too!!

Yelp
Used to love this place but I'm sure due to Covid and inflation of course any business is going to be affected. Decided to pop in while in town on a trip, knew I made a mistake when I started my order. The person that I'm going to assume was manager ( had a name tag saying so) was working on the assembly line so I'm like cool ok place my order, I get talked to like I have no idea what I'm ordering and I have no common sense, ok no biggie. He then decides to skimp on the scoops for My nachos, then decides to have an attitude because I ask for more, I completely understand No problem I'm fine with that but, say that from the get go, I understand everyone has bad days and the world is crazy rn but bruh don't talk to people like your crazy and don't treat people like they're a bother to you when your trying to run a business, probably the last time I will visit due to they're attitude.

Yelp
The worst food ever , not one authentic Mexican insight ! Food is horrible not real Mexican ! Only for anglos ! Just horrible ! U need to know the culture before opening a Mexican place , this place is definitely not Mexican ! It's like a Taco Bell ! Not Mexican at all! Just the worst food ever and I mean ever ! Done just plain white prior food !!!

Jordan J.

Yelp
Service was absolutely horrible, the bartender that poured my shot spoke to me in a very demeaning way based on the fact that I didn't tip him two dollars and sixty cents on a thirteen dollar tab. He raised his voice at me asking "DO YOU LIKE BEING STIFFED?!" then he handed me my change and said "have a nice night.... AND DON'T COME BACK" with the most frightening, demonic look on his face that scared me and made me downright uncomfortable in the building after that. This whole interaction reeked of racist and sexist undertones as I am a black woman and I have never experienced such unprofessional, disrespectful, and shameful treatment in a restaurant ever. Frankly, people like this should pick jobs far, far away from the general public as people such as him clearly do not have the social skills and situational awareness to be "serving" anybody. Bartenders name was Matt, btw.

Yelp
College town food! Always hot & fresh! I usually get a beef chimichanga! The ambiance isn't fancy but it certainly is welcoming!
google avatar

Deme Z.

Yelp
I love Zippy's. I probably go at least once a month...maybe more? Last time order the chimichanga lunch special which comes with chips and beans and rice. I have to remember to ask them if they can just put the cheese and ranchero sauce on it themselves next time... :)
google avatar

Rita V.

Yelp
In all fairness, I have to split the difference between my college dude son and my rating. Place is filthy. And really frazzled looking - BUT the staff is delicious, more flavorful than the food. My son LOVES it. I found it meh. The chips are addictive, but I found my fish and shrimp taco overly salty. But my sons quesadilla was perfect! And so are the refritos. They have frozen daquiris to go to town with... which makes it too "teenie-bopie-college cheapy drinkie fakie party kiddie feel" that just isn't my thing. I'm too grandma yelpie for frozen crap with cheap booze. A bad hangover has never been my vibe. Great for people on a budget. Food can be really good or meh, but the laid back and happy service with a smile can just buffalo me anyday. My college chow hound will keep bringing my dead presidents here, so as long as he's happy - who am I to put them down? Just not my kind of food prep. For people skills 10 stars. Food 2-2.5 from mom and 4.5 from kid!
google avatar

Jenni C.

Yelp
Was not overly impressed. The prices are extremely high for what you get. $12 for nachos? I had ground beef soft tacos. The ground beef was super super salty! Everyone agreed. The refried beans were bland, not hot and just eh. The chips were pretty good, ok salsa, The guacamole is ridiculously priced for the amount you get, seriously, and it's not that great. Much better taco places!
google avatar

Kyle D.

Yelp
Zipped is awesome been here many times and never have been disappointed. This time I got the chicken chimmy. But last time I had the burrow burrito which was great too. If you go try the margs they're goo too
google avatar

Susan F.

Yelp
Best nachos!! Zippy's is in a college town so I was the oldest one in the room- but service was friendly and prices good! We enjoyed our dinners and portions were enough to have leftovers! The frozen margaritas hit the spot! Stop by and try it out-you'll love it!
google avatar

Genevieve F.

Yelp
Their vegetarian burrito, The Berkeley Stock is yummy. I had it with the black beans and I thought it was bomb. The menu describes is as "Beans, rice, onions, peppers, mushrooms, corn, and pico de gallo." It was excellent. They made it with the quickness.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
It's a good dive spot that's perfect if you want to bring your dogs. The atmosphere was nice but the food was nothing to write home about. They used microwaves and melted so much cheese on to my food I had forgotten what I ordered. It's a college spot perfect for after the bar scene but not if you want a good sit down meal or even if you want ok Mexican food. It's open... I would eat it over some other options but it's not a go to. It was an experience and that's about it.
google avatar

Ray C.

Yelp
Decent food. Margs were average. Nothing special about this place. Prices could have been better
google avatar

Celeste H.

Yelp
Fun place to get their frozen drinks and chips and queso! We didn't try their food but the drinks were well worth it. Not sure the price of their drinks normally, but on our first trip, the frozen small drink was $11 and when we went back a couple of hours later to get another and hang out there, the large frozen 44 oz. was $10! So we definitely got the large. Bathrooms and establishment were not trashed especially after the busy day they had after the parade.
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
Me and my friends LOVE it here! The vibes are awesome, the hot bartender will give us free fireball shots, and they make a mean steak quesadilla
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Today was my first time trying this restaurant. My plate of nachos was huge and very well flavored. I can't believe an order from Door Dash was this big.

Bettye S.

Yelp
We love Zippy's! We've done both takeout and dine in! Love their queso w/beef and their burritos! And always interesting flavors in the frozen drink machines!

Casey H.

Yelp
Salsa tasted like marinara sauce with spice in it buffalo chicken burrito has to much goin on other than that great service great environmental
google avatar

Arianna S.

Yelp
I was in the mood for tacos decided to try zippys out. I got the taco platter (1 beef 1 chicken) with rice and black beans. The food is pretty bland and lacks flavor so that was pretty disappointing .. however the drinks were amazing and the prices were very reasonable. I would not come back for the food but the drinks and the atmosphere (outside patio) were great. Cooks/cashier did not come off as friendly- so not sure what to say about the service . If you want inexpensive (large) drinks in a chill environment . I would def recommend
google avatar

Rosalie N.

Yelp
Cuban burrito. Always. Sometimes the burrito ingredients are not well mixed or mingled together. Example, first few bits will be mainly pork. Followed by handful of bites of veggies and rice. Then maybe if ur lucky I'll get all the players in one bite. But I don't care. I love the pork, beans, rice cole slaw and that amazing sauce they hook it up w! People who work here are always in a good mood. I dine in a few times and found bar service to be slower than front house. It's not always slow service. Just inconsistent. But maybe it's just not their thing to have the bar as priority.

Hattie K.

Yelp
sooooo good, delicious buffalo chicken burrito diff recommend, alsssoooo like AMAZING chicken tacos. the brownies are the best and diff my favorite

Yelp
The fact this place is called Zippy's should erase any expectation of finding the next great holy grail of authentic Mexican food in Baton Rouge. Instead, come with the idea of eating some Latin inspired comfort food within the confines of sports on TVs and bangin' margaritas. Suddenly a fun time at Zippy's doesn't sound so crazy. On the interior, it's about as no frills as one might expect. Concrete floor with some patio furniture, taxidermy decor, a daiquiri machine, and some neon signage? Yep, sounds about right. The patio is probably one of the more rowdy parts of the venue. Be nice to the college aged kids at the counter, they'll be making your food. Start the evening by figuring out if Zippy's is playing the game you're looking to catch. Whether it's a major sporting event or a local LSU airing, more than likely they'll be featuring it. In addition to the games, they've always got some special running with their drinks. Check their Facebook to see the deal, which varies from beer promotions to $3 Patron shots. Oh my. Then there is the food. The idea of getting a little tanked from the drinks might automatically mean the food is extra delicious. Eating it sober might elicit a few reactions (or simply none at all), but there are some standouts: * Fish tacos. Get em grilled and make sure the tortilla is loaded. Nothing is quite as infuriating as a skimpy fish taco. * Nachos. For the drinks and the people at your table. Naturally. Lastly, beware of the chimichangas or enchiladas. I'm not saying chef microwave put together the food, but the neither plate was worth a bite.
google avatar

Chelsey C.

Yelp
Solid tex mex I'm the college area. Great Queso (a must try) and Margs & Daiquiris. I usually get the nachos. Unless you're really hungry the regular size is plenty big! The sleeper menu item that's a must try- the brownie!
google avatar

Britney T.

Yelp
The food is seriously overpriced and isn't worth the money (or sometimes wait) but as for the atmosphere it is definitely a cool spot to hang and get drinks with friends at any time of the year! Staff is mostly very friendly!
google avatar

Jeanne P.

Yelp
Zippys is one of those places you can go if you're feeling like a nice, easy, casual meal in a very down to earth environment. My friends and I will head over there on a Sunday afternoon to both fill up for the day and (for some of them) to soak up the hangover from the night before. They are quick and know the exact portion to put on the meal. I get very overwhelmed when there are a slew of decisions to make, so the burritos the are pre-conceived really help. The staff will make great recommendations as well. Another go to is the the taco meal. Their margaritas are great on a hot day. Even the skinny marg is a good choice! With all the great places to eat in the Overpass area, this one should be a must go for you. Also, they win with the best signs during HateBama Week! Actually, their signs are usually on point!
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
Good food, super casual atmosphere- nice place to get a quick Mexican fix and get filled up. Looks like the kind of place that will be packed with students when school is in session (good, inexpensive, filling food and beer in a patio atmosphere not too far from campus). Nothing spectacular, but it's good and worth a try. Three stars - decent food, I'd go here with you, but probably wouldn't drive across town for it (there are too many other burrito joints on the way).
google avatar

Jake T.

Yelp
Best tacos in Baton Rouge; ask for the Surf and Turf tacos; shrimp and steak Always quick always good. Highly recommend
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
The food here was great! Lots of choices and lots of food at decent prices. I thought the food quality and flavor was much better than Fuzzys. The chimichanga was covered in queso, which made it. The only thing missing was some lettuce and tomato. My only real complain about this place is the smell inside. You can tell that it's an old building that could use some serious TLC. The smell was pretty gross, and definitely made the dining experience a little less enjoyable. Overall, great Mexican place that I will return to. They would be excellent if they worked on that stink!
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
I have been to Zippy's a handful of times. We opted to go for a girl's meal here because they have a nice patio which seems to be a safer option during COVID times. The other positive is that the staff were nice and friendly. Otherwise, I was really underwhelmed with the food and the prices were quite steep for what you get. If you ask me, the competition is so much better, in terms of both freshness and value. This time I had a chicken quesadilla with chips, salsa and sour cream and I ordered a 2 oz side of guacamole. The quesadilla was well cooked, but the flavors were one-note. The guac was a little brown and did not look or really even taste fresh. It needed more flavor or maybe even just some salt. The salsa tasted like it came out of a jar--it wasn't terrible but definitely forgettable. I guess there is a reason I've only been a handful of times. If you want mediocre tex-mex, then this is your place.
google avatar

Alisha W.

Yelp
Although I haven't been here in 19 years, this was the place we would hang out and eat all the time. I was stationed in Baton Rouge for a year for the US Army. We loved to go here. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was too. They staff was so welcoming and so nice to us. We typically came in in uniform after our shift. It was one of the best places we found while there. My hopes are to go back and visit again soon! Thank you for always welcoming us Soldiers in and treating us like family

Sharnae S.

Yelp
If I'm in the mood for the best nachos, I'm coming here. Everything is fresh, service is fast and easy, and the price is great for what you get. I never get to take a picture of my plate because I get it to go but trust me the to go box is full. If you go there add jalapeños...I promise you'll want extra because they are delicious on their own. Great vibes, great food, great drinks and great service. Did I mention I've been coming here for almost 6 years .

Rachel S.

Yelp
I have been in the service industry for 12 years. I have also worked in Mexican restaurant for 4 years. I went to zippys tonight and got steak fajitas. About an hour after eating I became very ill. I have a feeling their food was not stored properly or left out too long. I will never eat this establishment again.
google avatar

Jennifer O.

Yelp
For a fast Mexican lunch, this is the best and most filling in BR! Wait time for food is super minimal and the food is infinitely better than fast food. For under $10 you can get rice, beans, an entree, chips, and salsa. Their Flautas are big and tastes great. They come with queso to dip! Kids night is Tuesday night, too!
google avatar

Ben T.

Yelp
The Cuban and buffalo burritos were amazing! This was the first time here and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Great local spot

Yelp
I have been looking for a Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge and I am glad to say I have found the place.

Yelp
Not sure who's doing the hiring/training but this place has definitely gone downhill. Ordered the Atomic Nachos and it looked like a pile of slop - tasted about the same. Didn't help that I stood at the counter for five minutes without being acknowledged. These Millennials just don't care. There hasn't been much consistency in the dishes for some time. Totally different depending on who throws it together. Yes, thrown together. The thrill has obviously gone. Sad to see people not taking pride in their work. The daiquiris are good and it's a nice 'college hangout'; which I take it is what they're going for now. Even that is an overstatement for what it has become - think Taco Bell with daiquiris and flat screen TVs. I usually get the Fuzzy Bean Burrito! They can't mess that up too bad.

Maria Eduarda L.

Yelp
I absolutely love Zippy's. The food is always great and the people are always nice and I used to come here almost every weekend for dinner until today. Today I was served by a 16-year old kid that was making fun of everyone. Everything we said he would answer with a "uh?" making us repeat the order several times. As an international person there is not greater offense than someone making fun of you and saying they don't understand you. At the beginning he made me doubt my English and I was extremely uncomfortable for the rest of the night. My order was wrong because I simply shut down and was so embarrassed to keep talking. I feel sorry that happened and even more sorry I lost a great place to eat due to immature employees.
google avatar

Brandi N.

Yelp
This is a GREAT place to get late night food if you want something more than McDonald's. It is by no means fine dining at 2am, but they do have a full menu of hot food that is cooked to order, so in my book that is a WIN. I ordered a basic cheese quesadilla and it hit the spot. Goey cheese and toasty tortilla it was perfect; paired with a side of crispy chips and spicy tomato salsa...brb gotta get some more! The open air dining room was a bit chilly for my liking, but then again it was 2am. It's nice to have all of that space if you have a big group of friends that want to eat, it is a seat yourself kind of place. Oh, and they have TVs if you are interested in watching a game and a full bar with an assortment of daquaris as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Different atmosphere. Dogs welcome. Funky place that is open until 3:00. Food was super good and fresh. Prices were adequate for food.
