In Hawaii, Nothing Says You’re Home Like Zippy's, Mac Salad, and Spam | Bon Appétit

"For 52 years, Hawaii’s iconic diner-esque chain has been supplying locals with over 100 tons of meaty chili a month across its 24 locations scattered throughout the islands and soon Vegas. There’s mac salad, Spam, a patty melt and a Kraft Singles–topped thin-patty cheeseburger, saimin, and chili, which is a normal thing to pile on spaghetti or a bowl of rice in Hawaii." - ByElyse Inamine

Couldn’t leave the islands without getting a hit from the famed Zippy’s chili. Was passing by and found this location. Very odd mushroom shaped building looked like a UFO at night. Nonetheless pushed forward and went to the order counter to get some large chili with rice. Wow, this was a lot better than expected. Hot, comforting, and delicious. It’s no wonder this place has been in business for ages. Highly recommended and will be back.

We decided to stop here and grab food from Zippy's since it's a local chain. The service was rather slow considering we were the only customers there. The food itself was also hit or miss. The beef was good, but the rice was dry and crunchy. Overall it didn't seem very fresh. It's possible other locations are better, but I wouldn't return here.

Korean fried chicken was good and made better with the mountain view and docked boats on the water.

This is probably the Zippy's location that I frequent the most. The first thing that I'll say is that my review is closer to a 3.5 star. But it won't let me reflect that. Anyways, the location is super convenient if you're ever at Koko Marina. This location has been here FOREVER, and a lot of people grew up with it. However, there hasn't been much of a face lift over the years. Besides the menu, not much has been updated. One more thing is that they no longer offer dine-in service in the main dining room. This has been the case for a while, but diners should just be aware that the current dining area is a hybrid-outdoor arrangement. You can enjoy the nice views from some of the booths, you just won't have AC. The food is standard Zippy's fare, but the one thing I'd note is that it's definitely gotten very expensive. It's no longer a good "value." Which is definitely a shame since I used to get this after sport events as a kid since they were so affordable. On the bright side, the orange bang is still the same!

The termite infested worn out building and limited menu need a major redo to be what Zippys was decades ago. Bring back the restaurant, better bakery selection like other locations or just close the place. Put in a Liliha bakery and restaurant instead.

Google
I really enjoyed the ramen and the service they have. The ambience wonderful with the pier in the back of the the restaurant. Really Nice brunch with two of my aunties; Lia, Condi, and my sister Lorena.

Great prices, great food, great vibes. The birds do harass you though so be prepared for that.

Google
My local friends took me here and it’s a little bit of everything including Korean fried chicken (KFC)! And chili fries!! There’s a beautiful outdoor area w views of dock and boats; great place for pics! This is a fast food of sorts but they have everything and even a whole dessert selection! I tried the 3 kinds of chicken combo; was in love w the KFC! Chili cheese fries was also very delicious! Be sure to bring your camera as it’s fun taking a bunch of pics back there. Plenty of seating and everything was super clean when we went. Recommend!!!!

Yelp
Good place for fast food. The price is good. I enjoyed Hawaiian local food. I like there are so many options in the menus. I will go back there again when I visit Hawaii

Yelp
It's Zippys what could I expect. The food was dry and bland. I got a special the mini roast turkey and this is what I received. No salad or stuffing which is what was said on the menu. I mean I do manage a restaurant and hate to leave reviews if it ain't positive but I called and was out on hold for over 20 minutes. But seriously? I understand that mistakes happen but how on earth do you send something like this out? It was slow and not busy inside, not to sure about take out but still. If you just take a look at it wouldn't you think where the stuffing ? Or the cranberry? I got a mini so this was $13 without tax and tip. I should have just gone and got a microwaveable dinner for half the cost. Ridiculous

Yelp
Fried chicken plate 3/5 - this was okay. There are definitely better options. It was all thighs which is okay. Skin is crispy but flavor is nothing special. Not the best chicken Chili and rice 2/5 - I didn't really enjoy this. There wasn't anything great about this. But it's filling so if that's what you're looking for then it's okay. Service is terrible here! Workers are not friendly. I asked for sauce for the chicken and the lady just looked at me confused and said what sauce?? And I asked for hot sauce and she gave three little packets of sauces. So when I came back and asked for more she gave me a dirty look

Yelp
This is the worst Zippys on the planet. Rude service, the food is god awful, the mac salad was warm. The tables were not clean, with bird sh*t on them. What a disgusting place. And, I love Zippy restaurants, but not this dump.

Yelp
Visited Zippy's Koko Marina tonight. We ordered the chili frank plate, no beans mac salad which was tasty as usual. I wanted to order the chili hot dog bun....however, i could not find it on the moble app. Soooooo i ended up ordering the mushroom burger with teriyaki sauce and extra mushrooms, with fries and corn chowder. The fries were a disaster....cold and not tasty at all...will not order it again. The mushroom burger was nice, with onions and tomato and lettuce. But no extra mushrooms and no teriyaki sauce, so no taste at all....disappointing because i had it before and it was so good, messy, but isn't most teriyaki burgers that way? The chowder was ok, taste was good but too thin for me. All in all very disappointing. I always appreciated the curbside service, which is a plus.

Yelp
I got the Korean fried chicken salad bowl. Nothing special to it, the salad was a mixed salad & the Asian sauce was a bit thick, but tasty. The fried chicken was actually very good! My family got the sweet & sour chicken (not pictured) the plate looked very unappetizing & the chicken was drenched in sauce & was a miss for us. The service was quick & the views were great. We came from the Koko head trail & stopped for a quick bite before heading back to Waikiki where we were staying. The ambiance was nice, the beach views made the stop worth it & it was quite empty for a Saturday afternoon.

Yelp
This MUST be a locals thing because for my wife and I it didn't work out. Ordered the Hamburger plate which was a Salisbury steak in grave with rice, it straight tasted like a Swanson's TV dinner. The Simon which is their version on Ramen was simply terrible. $30.00 in the trash because after a few bites neither of us could go any further. Dropped off a little rice for the little guy that was waiting patiently on the perch of our table.

Yelp
Just picked up my order at curbside. I love their app! Easy to order and gives you good information on your order and when it will be ready. They run into a little issues some days when they are busy and understaffed but sadly that is the case for most fast food establishments these days. The parking for curbside is convenient and usually open. Today's order of two plate lunches came out right on schedule. One good thing that came out of the pandemic.

Yelp
Revisiting the east side of the island with my friend, I decided to eat at Zippy's at the koko marina center. Sadly, the dining area is closed as well as the bathrooms at Zippy's. There is a bathroom, but it is at the building on the left side of zippy's on the second floor of the building, next to the florist. Food was the same as other zippy's, fresh and fried chicken was crunchy. Even though it was outside, we could eat our lunch in peace having it next to the pier with a scenic serene view of the ocean. Service was fast, but tables were a bit dirty, and a table also didn't have a tabletop, and at least there weren't bird turd since there is a sign posted "don't feed the birds," but there was a dove that was persistent in hanging near our table even if we tried shooing it away.
google avatar

Yelp
I didn't take pictures because it was crowded. People were still there hanging out...and enjoying themselves. I ordered a Korean Chicken plate, favorite. It was sweet, shoyu, garlicky and intense flavor that permeates your palate. In other words, do not go on a date or kiss your favorite person. My friend was waiting at his house where we were preparing to rent it out. He got a Ted's burger and not get me one. So, I killed him with the ono Korean Chicken! He looked at me...my favorite was his expression. I offered half. He said I'll save it for dinner. I ate three pieces and left seven for him. I'm a good friend...Ciao!

Yelp
An era is closing up for Zippy's Koko Marina. What do I mean by that??? For the longest time, the Zippy's Restaurant at the Koko Marina Shopping Center had two eatery areas - 1. Zippy's had a full service restaurant if you chose to dine inside of an enclosed air conditioned area. The restaurant had a nice view of the bay, a/c of course, and someone will serve you your food at your table. 2. On the other side of the restaurant, Zippy's also had a "take-out" area, where you can walk up to the ordering counter, place your food order, & pay for your food. When you food is ready, they will call your order number, then you go back up to the counter and pick up your food. The "take-out' area also has seating, but there is no air conditioning. The seating area is covered, but it's an open air seating area. In recent years, times have changed.........I think a lot of businesses are facing a shortage of workers, and of course overall cost has gone through the roof with inflation! After hearing on the local news (last week) that the Koko Marina Zippy's was gonna close shop on the "restaurant side", a few of my Yelp buddies decided to make our pilgrimages to the Koko Marina Zippy's to eat our very last meal. Of course since we already had a big meal at Repetti's early that day, Zippy's was our so called "night cap" for dessert. What better way to end it with some Custard Pie & Coffee???? For you folks that don't know about Zippy's..........Zippy's has a fabulous bakery called Napoleon's Bakery, and I must say they make a fabulous Custard Pie!!!! Sad that they will be closing down half of the restaurant, but on the bright side, Zippy's isn't going anywhere, as they are keeping the Zippy's "take-out" area open inside of the Koko Marina Shopping Center! It's nice to know if you're on the east side of the island, you can still get your Zippy's fix!

Yelp
Sunday, February 5, 2023, will be the last day to dine in at this Koko Marina location of Zippy's... It was shocking news... Donna O. suggested that we pay our final respects to this iconic restaurant. Gosh - this Zippy's has the best view of the marina... I remember bringing Vienna (from Los Angeles) here after we hiked to the Makapu'u Lighthouse. We had a satisfying, convenient, and relatively inexpensive meal. I've been here at various other times with my family and my classmates from high school... Well... It was nice to visit one last time with Donna, Bruddah Fran, Peter Y., and Kenzie. Happy memories will live on...

Yelp
After a long flight from the East Coast we missed our chance to get Korean BBQ at the place in Koko Marina so opted for Zippy's. The place is feels super run down and as soon as we arrived we decided for takeout instead of eating in that space. Chili was standard and also tried the korean fried chicken place which was okay. But at least it was open until 10pm whereas very few other places in that area were.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
It's Zippy's... what can I say. It happens to be the closest one to my home, so it's the one I frequent the most. The good news is that it has a fantastic view of the marina, which actually makes your fried chicken taste better! Haha The food is consistent no matter what Zippy's you go to. I always get the mini fried chicken plate with two scoops rice and Orange bang. My second favorite plate is the spaghetti. The wonton min is not that good, trust me. In addition to their plate lunches, they have some decent breakfast options and bentos, and of course amazing desserts! The service here is slow as molasses, but again, it's Zippy's. I don't think I've ever been to a speedy Zippy's. Come for the view!

Yelp
I was so sad to find out that this restaurant will be closing for good next week. We came in for a last meal and enjoy the gorgeous views of the marina. We ordered our food and added the complete meal extra. The salad was nice and fresh but the roll was tiny and soon turned into stone as most breads do after its been nuked in the microwave. We ordered the mini miso salmon and to my surprise, the piece of salmon was just TINY! I've been coming here since I was in college which is a long long time ago. I'll miss the views, the great servers that we have met and the food from the past. We certainly won't miss the subpar food which has been the norm here lately. Looking around at a very empty dining room during dinner hours, it's not too difficult to understand how the demise of this place came to be.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with comfort food. Right after a nice view of the sunrise and you went on a mornkng swim in the ocean, heading down to Zippy is not a bad idea. They have simple local food that makes you miss local food. We order eggs and pancakes for the morning. Lots of food for 3 people and it was yummy!! The waitress were nice and helped us if we needed help. You can never go wrong here!

N M.

Yelp
The Koko Marina Zippy's used to be a nice place to eat. The main dining room closed during the covid pandemic. The takeout patio area is dilapidated, although it still has a spectacular view of the marina. The food is flavorful, but the serving portions and some dishes are not as good as the past. For example, the Mushroom Chicken plate is made up of small slivers of chicken and more slices of button mushrooms swimming in sauce. Not worth the money. Two chicken thighs smothered in mushroom sauce would be better. Zippy's has new competitors at Koko Marina who offer table service and refreshing new menu items. Zippy's is still a good place to sample almost authentic local foods. And the Koko Marina Zippy's staff is really great.

Yelp
Don't come here if you're hungry & expect your order to be ready in a timely manner. My poor hubby had to wait 25 minutes for his fried noodles. The restroom is in another building. We had to leave before we finished eating because the dish soap was oozing from the wall.
google avatar

Cheryl R.

Yelp
We had dinner here after a day of beach hopping & it was easy finding a table, they weren't very busy, i tried a sampler meal cause a friend of mine recommended it, it had alot of food, the chicken was very crispy, i prefer white meat & this was thighs, rice & salad were good, the macaroni was a little sweet for me but all in all it was good
google avatar

Gabriel P.

Yelp
Ordered via the app. Was there early so waited a few minutes til it was close to the pick up time. Got my order 15 minutes after the pick up time. If it wasn't for covid. I would have the a lower rating.
google avatar

Keo S.

Yelp
Prices are getting steep but always a good place to pick up catering or desserts (esp Malasadas) for potlucks.
google avatar

Suri S.

Yelp
Recently tried the Chicken Katsu platter, which is about 10 servings of chicken katsu on a bed of cabbage on the bottom for about $37. Came with a bunch of Katsu sauce that were individually wrapped, which was really convenient also. Platter came wrapped with rubber bands to help secure it. Perfect platter to bring to your ohana for parties!! It was tasty and exactly what we were expecting from Zippy's.

Laura R.

Yelp
No longer has a sit down restaurant. They should maybe post that online. The view would have made it a nice dining experience

Leigh L.

Yelp
Food quality is the same, and the convenience of takeout is the same. Glad to get to go here when needing something fast... Call ahead for faster ordering...

Yelp
Ah, Zippy's. This is like going back to your parents house for dinner after being away for many years. You don't quite remember how the food tastes, how the food looks, and how much you actually miss their food. Zippy's was like that for me. I used to go to it quite frequently when I was in high school. It was THE hangout spot after prep football games, win or lose (usually), or after hours of intense basketball games with my friends. I've pretty much tried the entire menu since I like to try different things, but after 15+ years, I don't remember! And I have never thought about going there since. Back to the present day, my wife said she wanted Fried Chicken! I started to think about several places and searched on Yelp, but all of them are in town, so nothing was quick and convenient. Wait a minute! Zippy's has fried chicken! Can order online too? Nice! Curbside pickup? Even better! Zippy's menu has not changed one bit. Everything offered is pretty much the same 15 years ago. Besides the price! $3.35 for one piece of fried chicken! Obviously, ordering one piece isn't the best deal. The more, the better. There's a 9-, 15-, and 21-pack. We opted for the 9-pack for $25 total. After placing an order online, it gives you a choice to pick up ASAP or at a specific time. If ASAP, it'll tell you the estimated time your order will be ready, so you don't need to rush there. This Zippy's is located in the Koko Marina Shopping Center in Hawaii Kai. It's all the way in the back corner. There's plenty of parking on that side. I believe it's still takeout only, but you can sit on the outdoor tables and enjoy the view of the marina. Picking up was easy. You should receive an email after you place your order. It'll have a link to press when you arrive and parked in the designated stalls right in front. The person who brought out our food was friendly and upbeat. The smell coming out of the box was intoxicating. It was so hard to not just grab a fried chicken and start eating while I was driving, but I held on for the 15 minutes to drive home, change clothes, and wash hands for 20 seconds. Just like eating a home cooked meal made by your parents or grandparents, the first bite of the crispy and tasty skin and moist and tender chicken brought back a flood of memories, a sense of comfort, a warmth, an ease, a familiarity, a calm. Perhaps I'm exaggerating. Now by all means, it's not the best fried chicken. It wasn't packed with flavor, or deep fried nicely. There were some dry parts. Some parts were fried too much to a dark brown. Some parts needed taste. Those are minor issues. Overall, still a dang pretty good piece of fried chicken with a familiar taste and texture.

Yelp
We came to this zippy because they were closing the restaurant 2/5 and I see the service was bad Where we stood there for 10 Minutes before they sat you. Then when you ask for a side on onions you might tis well decide to forget about onions for the chili spaghetti. I was half way done by the time it came The food was delicious along with the view. Sorry to see this place close the dining hall. Surf Pac pac was just fried chicken one piece a couple of Teri beef and furor ale rice. The mini and the mini chili spaghetti was perfect in size. Alittle more chili would have been great .

Tina A.

Yelp
Ordered take out vegetarian chili, the container felt super light when I got home and it was a little over half way full. I have had no issues with Zippys ever, this is a first.
google avatar

Kristen Q.

Yelp
They were out of ... -garlic miso chicken -no breakfast items in the afternoon, wahhhh But their loco moco was pretty solid! Decent size amount and taste was on point.
google avatar

Keoni N.

Yelp
They tell us to email them so they can review & or rectify the situation but this is a consistent conscious decision on how the CHOOSE to run their business, this is not a one time mistake, the portions are always tiny with the spaghetti & have enough sauce for half the amount of pasta. I came back to update my review bcuz I just ate microwaved spaghetti at 7-11 and it better in every way and cheaper
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Zippy's an essential in Hawaii! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Zippy's has got you covered. This post hike meal was the Kokua Pac, which included Korean fried chicken, Portuguese sausage, hot dog, and spam over a bed of rice. The chicken was extremely juicy, sweet and crispy and was by far my favorite thing! And you can never go wrong with spam and Portuguese sausage which were a solid choice as well. This location is still closed for dine in and outdoor seating sadly, even though they have the space for it. Call in and order ahead to get your meal faster!
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
Long time favorite. Food is usually good / consistent though the chili tastes like the recipe was changed. And not in a good way. In addition to the necessary price increases, they have now started asking if you want your change
google avatar

Sabrina V.

Yelp
First time at Zippy's and it was so good! Loved the variety of menu options. Went with one of the local favorites and it had basically a little bit of everything and I enjoyed every bit of it! Also really liked the lilikoi drink. Took some naples to go and those were delicious! We sat in the sit down part with service and service was great and friendly! Loved this location and establishment!
google avatar

Wina G.

Yelp
One star because I like their spaghetti with meat sauce and another for being so close to my house and the convenience. Also for the nice outdoor seating area near the water. The food has gone down in quality lately and the bakery is just sad- hardly any choices. I get it- times are super hard for business with the soaring cost of supplies. This is not what I'm disappointed in- it's the service. I ordered a mini spaghetti with meat sauce ( which is still good IMO) but I didn't get my order till after 25 minutes! In that time I got to watch people wait as well. People who had ordered before me had long waits too. Some had their orders messed up. Looked like the back didn't have it together. While Zippy's had never served stellar food, it's slide into bad restaurant territory is just sad.

Tony T.

Yelp
The new Char Siu Pork plate was ok. Meat was kind of tough. Needs to be more tender. The Fried/Korean chicken plates are still the best. Also the bean less chili is good too.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
This evening after a long day of work we felt like comfort food. The cushioned booths, easy parking and saimin was calling us. As soon as we stepped inside, the service was so fast and so intuitive. We were led to our table and seated immediately. We both ordered the Zippy's min which is the won ton min except the Zippy's min comes with a shrimp tempura and seaweed. Our food was brought out to us in less than 15 minutes piping hot along with a side of hot mustard and shoyu. The noodles were perfect-not soggy at all and the ideal chewiness. The won tons have such a great flavor and I probably said three times that I had forgotten how good Zippy's saimin is. Before I knew it I had finished the entire bowl and was already debating whether I should come back tomorrow night for the chili. Don't forget to make a pit stop at the bakery to check out their desserts!
google avatar

Mari T.

Yelp
Used to like coming here with my family to the dine in or take out side. The dine in always seemed very fancy with the ocean front view. The take out was also ocean front, but not A/C, so it seemed less fancy, but still very nice. Still love the chowders, but haven't seen seafood chowder in a while which was my fave. Still love the clam and corn though!

Sandi B.

Yelp
Usually order Club sandwich but for take out they don't do. Ordered Veg chili. The recipe has changed or the protein is different. Will not order again. They need to up the menu or put more effort. It was just warmed up.
google avatar

Mimi S.

Yelp
So sad the Dine-In restaurant part is closing soon! So today I had the last Zip Min, I think Prez Obama likes Zip Min too. I hope the Take-Out counter sells Zip Min after Dine-In closes.

Yelp
I'm a chicken lover. I have nothing but love for this fried chicken. I'd recommend coming here if you're vacationing. We had the regular fried chicken order. We also tried the KOREAN CHICKEN PLATTER ($41.50) In addition we tried the 8 inch rainbow cake. I loved the fried chicken. It was cooked perfectly and the skin was deliciously crispy. It was seasoned well where I didn't need any sauce to add to it. I really liked the korean chicken platter. I wish we could have ordered something smaller, but luckily I had a large family to justify spending $40 on chicken. It's tasty and flavorful. The 8 in rainbow cake was tasty. It was good but not as good as what I've tasted elsewhere (locally in socal) at King's Hawaiian. But it's good. I wish I could come back for the fried chicken.
google avatar

Manny G.

Yelp
Typical Zippy's. The food was good. The service was slow and the employees are friendly and professional. Great place for take out food.
google avatar

Hope Y.

Yelp
First off, only the dine-in restaurant is closed, you can still enjoy Zippy's take-out and order via phone or on their website. With so many local places at risk for closing because of COVID19, support your local restaurants. Ordered and paid online, and scheduled our pick up. There is designated pick-up parking and waitstaff will come to your car, flash them your order number on your phone, and they will run the food out to you. Minimal contact, and if you ask them to put it in the trunk, they are happy to do that as well. While we are sad that the waterfront scene is unavailable to enjoy right now, we are quite happy that they continue to serve some of our favorite comfort foods. You can also add on items from the bakery, or some fresh malasadas. It is a limited menu and substitutions are not allowed, but you can still find your favorites and even some specials.
google avatar

Paul Y.

Yelp
What is happening with the spaghetti?!?! We did a take out dinner order tonight and I thought I was eating Filipino spaghetti from Jollibee. Please STOP this from continuing in the kitchen. TALK TO YOUR COOKS BACK THERE!!! They are messing around with your recipe and adding sugar and ketchup to the meat sauce. HORRIBLE.

Yelp
So! It's been months since FPO and I have been to Zippy's ... and for good reason. Over the past year or so the food quality has been very inconsistent, sometimes okay, most times not. Portions have gotten smaller. And prices have steadily increased. So why did we go back? We like the people there. We missed our favorite waitress and decided to give Zippy's one last chance. FPO and I went to Zippy's Koko Marina early evening on a Friday. There were about ten to fifteen people waiting. The waitresses double as hostess because this location lost their hostess almost two years ago and never bothered to replace her. Anyway, we waited about ten minutes to be seated. First thing I saw as we sat down ... new menus. Uh oh, I see a new menu and I know what that means ... Zippy's raised their prices again. Too bad they didn't increase food quality or consistency. Kris was our server and after greeting us and asking what we'd like to drink, she had to list all the things they were out of. Good thing I wasn't craving Nachos, Kalua Pig, Jello, or Green Tea. Adult beverages were also a crap shoot because several of those were out too. I ordered the No Bean Chili and Brown Rice with a side piece of Chicken. The chili is one of the safer menu items because I'm pretty sure it's just heat and serve. Handy tip - don't order the Chili Chicken Plate, order the bowl of chili and the piece of chicken separately. The combo plate has barely enough chili to cover one scoop of rice. The chili was hot. My chicken was also hot but unfortunately, it was also burned on the outside and dry on the inside, way over done. FPO got the Spaghetti Plate with an extra Garlic Bread and Mac Salad. Again, usually spaghetti is one of the safer items on the menu. It was okay, it just looked like a mini portion. I really missed Zippy's. Growing up in Hawaii, you grow up with Zippy's. It was the, "Next Stop". Well, not anymore. I've had enough. For local food I'll go to L&L. And if I'm craving Zippy's Chili, the freezer section of the grocery store. Zippy's products go on sale at Times on a pretty regular basis.

Yelp
Ah, Zippy's. The Hawaii Kai dining room was so old and run-down it was disgusting. It had to go. But in its place is a new monster. Most of us have experienced typing a simple web address into a search engine, only to find a bunch of results. Unless you examine all the URLs carefully, you can fall prey to websites that get themselves at the top of the results page, hoping you'll wind up in their cyberclutches. I was confused into the UBEREATS site while looking just to order from the Zippy's menu, drive 5 minutes and pick up my meal. There were 2 tabs: Delivery, at a ridiculous $0.49 (don't worry, you'll pay through the nose with much higher food prices!) and Pick Up. I selected Pick Up. I ordered the food, noting that a loco moco was priced at $14.50. When I selected MINI loco moco, the price did not diminish as it should have. Normally, a mini loco moco is about $8.50. I thought, well, I'll straighten it out when I get there. Nope. The gals at the counter informed me that I had already paid, even though there was no transaction screen presented online. They informed me that the food price was higher because of the cost of delivery. WHAT? I told them that I had selected Pick Up, NOT Delivery. They shrugged. So I wonder who kept about $12 of my money? Ubereats with its dishonest, pushy website? The girls at the counter? Never again! However, the food was the usual good Zippy's. Getting it home left a bad taste in my mouth!

Yelp
Not all Zippy's are created equally. For East-siders, this is the closest Zippy's until Kahala Mall. Its a great pit stop for those headed to the beach or those just wanting to eat some local food. It is located in Koko Marina, on the mauka side of the parking lot. Parking can get tight but with the theaters closed, there are more spots available. We've been here many times and the menu for Zippy's remains constant for all locations. The reason this location is just A-OK is that their portion and quality consistency is not quite there. One visit we will get a decent portion of their Korean Fried Chicken and the next visit we get bits of batter and hardly any chicken. One particular occasion I ordered their special Spicy Fried Chicken. For some reason, the picture depicted infused pieces of chicken with a spicy sauce, making it look red and what I got were 3 regular pieces of fried chicken with a spicy sauce poured over it... I was thrown off and not at all pleased with what I actually got. I mean, if they'd advertised the chicken I actually got then sure, that's my mistake - but what they advertised was not what I got. Those are just specific instances but I've been here so many times, it really becomes a hit-or-miss on the times I visit. Prices, well, they keep going up periodically. And that can't be helped. But still, the portions at this location remain inconsistent and unjustifiable at times. The taste of Zippy's while not always the same, is good. It's good local food I can fall back on if I can't decide on what to eat. Like I said, every location is different and this one is ok. The staff is very attentive and they do try their best, which makes it worth coming back for. I will definitely continue to support Zippys, even at Koko Marina.

Yelp
I know they closed the dining and are only take out, so tried to give them business. However, both my husband and my fried chicken meal was not good at all. The fried chicken was FRIED DRY, disappointing! Along with that we didn't get any dressing for the salad!!! Sorry not coming back.....

Yelp
Ordered the smaller size chili with rice but got the larger one.. Ordering outdoors, probably makes it hard for cashier to hear. But that's ok bc I ate all of it.. Can't lose with Zippy's Chili. The outdoor seating is very dated and in need for repairs. I haven't had the opportunity to eat inside bc I usually eat alone when at that location (lunch break) Overall, food was made fresh and tasted great..

Yelp
Service has definitely improved, however how the heck is my chili cold right after I picked it up???? Quality Control needs improvement.

Yelp
Vegetarian omelette had very little flavor. Zippys has been in business forever! Why can't they make decent RICE? Dry, falling apart, definitely not fresh!
