My parents favorite Zippy's location on Oahu. Every Sunday afternoon we'd come here for lunch. The employees were always friendly and welcoming. The food always came out fast and hot. Everything on their menu is delicious. Aloha and Mahalo for the memories.

Dear Zippy’s Management, I would like to file a formal complaint regarding the poor service I experienced at your Waiau location today. My party and I arrived around 2:00 PM and checked in using the QR code. We sat on the other side of the wall from the waiting area because another party was seated in front. When that party was called, we continued waiting but no one checked the waiting area or noticed us. Eventually, I moved chairs from the side to the front, and only then did a server notice us. The server seemed surprised and said, “Oh! Were you guys always there?” We were finally seated at 2:17 PM by a male server with a bun, who never returned to take our order or check on us. A female server with curly hair also saw us sitting there but made no effort to assist or acknowledge our table. By 2:30 PM, we decided to leave due to being completely ignored. This was an extremely disappointing experience and showed a clear lack of attentiveness and professionalism. Please ensure both employees are retrained on awareness, communication, and proper customer service, so future guests do not have the same experience. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

First visit here. Nice, pleasant atmosphere and decent staff. There was a considerably long wait for our order. Was the food worth the wait for a second visit? Maybe. But the reviews did well enough for me to make a first visit. 3 stars here.

Our first visit to your establishment and we were not disappointed! Delicious food. Wonderful service. Very nice atmosphere. Tried mac salad for the first time and it was so yummy! I couldn’t get enough! You’ve got to take the time to try out Zippy’s!!!

I went in for the first time ever and ordered something. They got my order wrong! I tried asking for a refund but the workers looked at me weirdly like I was crazy. One even tried to punch. One tried to slap me. One even spat on me! They even started to throw hands on me. So, I just left my food there and left. I am not coming back ever again!

Love the early morning 5am open hours. Better when it was 24 hours . Oxtail soup. Korean fried chicken chili. ZIP pack . Andagi

Zippys food as you would expect but the take out dining area was very clean with plenty of tables and seats, which was impressive compared to other zippys.

Great place for family breakfast! Love the variety of choices: fried rice, waffles, crispy hasbrowns, homemade corned beef hash, chili omelette, spam and pancakes! The AC is cold so gotta eat fast so your food doesn’t get cold too, but coffee is topped off frequently. Servers are fast and friendly and service given is always top notch!

All I can say is -- how do you not like Zippy's? This place is a true Hawaii staple. I know the prices have gone up over the years, but honestly, where haven't they? Even with that, Zippy's is still worth every penny because it's more than just a restaurant -- it's part of island life. Zippy's is one of those places that everyone in Hawaii has a memory tied to. Late-night meals after the beach, quick lunches between work, or grabbing a plate lunch before a flight -- it's always there when you need it. The consistency, the comfort, and that familiar taste never change. If you've never been, imagine the McDonald's of Hawaii -- but with better options, better flavors, and way more heart. You've got all the local favorites: chili, saimin, loco moco, Korean fried chicken, oxtail soup -- the list goes on. And don't even get me started on the bakery side -- their napples and dobash cake are legendary. What I love most is that Zippy's doesn't try to be fancy. It's just good, comforting, local food done right. You walk in and instantly feel at home. Locals, visitors, families, and late-night crews all mix in one place -- that's Zippy's magic. Every trip back to Hawaii, I make sure to stop at least once (usually more). It's that familiar taste of home that always hits the spot. Mahalo, Zippy's, for keeping it real and staying a local favorite all these years.

I do not like to post negative reviews but I am so frustrated with Zippy's ... First of all .. I was on their app for over 40 mins trying to navigate it and use my 25% off offer whichthey sent me ... I clicked it and it wouldn't work... I drive down in person to fix it and even the manager herself had a difficult time with the app ... so finally the 25%offer worked but nowhere on the offer said not applicable to "specials of the day ". Later I told the manager I wanted to use up all my gift cards so I don't have to repeat this fiasco again ... so she clicked on the two gift cards ( I saw her do it ) for the order . Later while waiting for my order .. I checked my credit card for the balance I paid after using the gift cards and it was wrong . For some reason it used only a partial amount of the gift cards and therefore it charged a bigger amount to my credit card ... I showed the manager and she didn't understand why it did that . Nor did she try to correct it ... and left it at that ... and for some reason .. she hit something and mistakenly ordered a piece of chicken which ended up paying ... And now I have go through this all over again because I still have some credit on my gift card to use which I totally wanted to avoid coming here. And to top if off ...the large Teriyaki plate I ordered is an embarrassment because you can finish it in 5 bites ... it was so little in portion .. it's totally not worth the price ! The special they had on Spaghetti for $9.99 was okay but could've used more spaghetti noodles ... but I wouldn't pay regular price for it ... I also ordered two Apple Napples but very disappointed as it was not light and crispy like before ... VERY DISAPPOINTED as this is one of their specialties! I normally support local businesses but their system is so messed up they need to improve the app and teach their employees also about their app . I probably will not support Zippy's like before...

Hubs is extremely happy because only apple or pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pies were 50% off today only.

I like the ease and convenience of being able to order via their app. Plus the rewards system is great! Free breakfast bento! Things have gotten a little smaller, but everywhere has! These are just enough to fill you!

Zippys Waiau is always good for a late night dinner. They're open until midnight. The food was good and came out hot and fresh. We came for a late night dinner and were seated immediately. Our waitress was very attentive in terms of drink refills, asking if everything was ok, getting us take out boxes and closing out with the check. Despite it being so late at night, she was very attentive to our needs. There is light music playing in the dining area but nothing very loud. You can still fully hear your conversation with whoever you're eating with. Parking is widely available at this location. Especially late at night!

I hardly ever go to zippies not because their food is bad just because there are better values out there. That being said The restaurant has always been clean ..the staff always been professional....the food always quality and good ... I know they weigh everything and I know they have to conduct business in certain ways to be sucessful but I never get the feeling where they are happy to serve you and give you your moneys worth as other places. Its probably just me and past experiences but Zippys is around because of their quality food..nothing wrong with that.

Waiting a long time to be seated. There were no one waiting ahead of us. Also, the restaurant was at the best only half full of patrons. What happened to the Zippys' service? We had to wait a long time to place our order. I had questions concerning the kalbi pork meal. The waitress left to ask someone concerning my question which took some time to get the answer. She came back to take my order but left our table as I was talking to my wife as to what I should order. It took some time before she returned to take our order. We wasted so much time just to take our order. The food did come in a timely manner and the food was good. My complaint was the amount of time we had to wait to be seated and then ordering our food. It seems the restaurant was short staffed that caused us to wait too long to be seated and order our meal.

We were seated right away coming here on a Sunday morning. Had excellent service by our server and I seriously have no complaints coming here. The club sandwich is my usual go to but i was craving chicken so ordered the Korean fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Chicken is pretty sweet but super tasty with the mashed potatoes. I also ordered the Portuguese bean soup and everything was lovely! Make sure you have the Zippys app if you come here often. Hubby had a half off in the app so that was nice! Bring a sweatshirt because it gets pretty cold dining in here. I don't mind the blasting AC but some may.

Food is always good -- you can always count on the consistency and quality at Zippy's. However, tonight's service left a lot to be desired. Our counter server was noticeably rude and dismissive, giving the impression that she didn't want to be there. In a time when so many are struggling to find or keep employment, a little gratitude and kindness toward customers would go a long way. We don't come to this location often, but my family who do said our server is always like that -- which makes it even more disappointing that nothing seems to have changed. On another note, portions seem to be getting smaller while prices continue to rise, making a warm attitude and good service all the more important. We truly appreciate the hardworking staff who keep Zippy's running, but hope management can remind the team that good service matters just as much as good food.

Ordered 2 spam musubi on the mobile app. Got a response of time order would be done. Got updates asking the way. Order was done a few minutes early (wasn't busy). What wowed me was the locker system. I haven't ordered to go by mobile order a kind time - and the locker system was new to me. Text message told me what locker and to enter "open" when I was ready to pick up my order. So cool - pulled the door open when the light went on. I'm assuming you need to be careful not to let the door close off it may lock, but that's an assumption on my part. Anyway - I was impressed! Order was still warm, but may have been sitting on a counter for a minute before being put in the locker but it was warm enough for my purposes.

Haven't been to Zippy's for breakfast in along time. Wife and I was out doing errands and stopped in for breakfast! Service was great as we dined in, but what's funny is. Every time some came out the kitchen door is sounded like someone was farting and caught me off guard! My wife was laughing at my reaction...lol! Stop by the bakery afterwards as I saw had guava Naples but when I got home was disappointed because it was apple and not guava! Oh well! Definitely be back tho, Zippy's is always good grinds!

This review is on service and follow through and especially the response from Anita. Let's start from the beginning. On Weds 5/28/25 I ordered breakfast and part of my order was for French toast. My entire order was within the new food lockers and I should have read the signage because they no longer pack your order with utensils so make sure to grab them from the counter before you leave. So not only did I not have any utensils to eat with, but I also did not have syrup or butter. As with every online order nowadays, Zippys will send you an email asking for feedback. I filled out the feedback survey and lo and behold Anita calls and leaves me a voicemail. On the voicemail she apologized for the lack or syrup and butter, and also informed me of the utensil situation. She also said she was going to credit me for the French toast. Wow. That's awesome. Thank you Anita for your responsiveness and taking accountability for the lack of condiments. You are a great asset to the Zippy's staff.

What's the purpose of ordering online if they only start cooking your order sometime after you tell them personally at the counter that you're there to pick up your order?

It's FIRE!!!!! The grindz had me dizzy brah, so much I had broke my mouth! Me smokin before da eats, than just go to sleep like baby brah!

I thought the food was decent given the hype around this chain. The loco moco was pretty good and filling! Amazing Mac salad. The coconut napple didn't really have the coconut flavor. Service was pretty fast, and the environment was nice given that it was outdoor seating with a hood.

I definitely love coming to Zippy's when I want to splurge. Kinda pricey for two people depending on what you get. It all adds up. Food is good here. Always on point. I definitely like ordering breakfast if I come here. It's good too. Service was good and efficient. I definitely like that. I came here with mother in law and my daughter not too long ago. Plenty of space and they have a take out side and you can just sit down and enjoy your food or take it to go. Highly recommend

Went to buy the special chili frank for lunch. Had to wait over 1/2 an hour to get my food. What's happening with Zippys?

I have no complaints on the food, however, WHY are they still placing the pastry (coconut napple) in with the HOT food? It makes the pastry SOGGY! C'mon man....!

Pretty celebrated mealtime! The food is full of flavor, and it's piping hot in the bag! This is my second or third tasting. My kids love Zippy's so much, their wedding was catered by Zippy's. It's GOOD! Eat at restaurant or to go, it's awesome!

Yum!!!!! This place has the best Haupia Cake -Two layers of white chiffon cake topped and filled with haupia filling. Iced with whipped cream and finished with coconut flakes. ONO!!! This particular cake tasted light and not too sweet! There were 2 slices left after my friends and I enjoyed ourselves. I ended up "volunteering" to take it home so my hubby could enjoy the rest of the cake. Oh he did... it didn't last!

Haven't been here in awhile. Had a late morning breakfast with a friend. Restaurant was fairly busy. Nice, mellow atmosphere. Service was prompt and courteous. Food was typical for a Zippy's. No problem with parking. All in all, satisfied with the overall experience.

Not even busy and the wait took forever to just sit and get a table,the bakery looks empty. Parking small and there was no drive thru so don't know why it came up

Ordered the special chicken katsorean for lunch with extra sauce today. The sauce is MEAN . I would order this again. The chicken is so tender and the coating is crispy.

Breakfast combo spam bacon eggs - chicken katsu mini loco moco and zip pac. We are hungry! Place is not busy at all. That's either good or bad.

during my week in hawai'i, i tried this place 3-4 times (dine in once and carry out the other times). the item i ordered the most was the chicken katsu which was breaded chicken with rice. it was my first time trying that and i loved it!! i also tried the hamburger with fries and really enjoyed that as well. when we ate in person, the bakery was empty and not filled with the pastries we wanted. the staff was nice and we came during shift change so our server was able to catch up quick!

This location has the worst customer service, staff, and wait times. Every time I come for take out, dine-in, and bakery services I experience long wait times and inexperienced staff. Managers, like Julie, are incompetent. Absolutely could not answer any questions in a helpful manner. Ordering online or over the phone? Be prepared to wait even after you get a notification your food is ready. Missing items, utensils are common. Compared to other Zippys locations, this one misses the mark every time.

Always a fun place. Service was wonderful but hours have changed. They close the dining hall early and do take out. Chili is outstanding but everything is just good, and save room for the deserts. Alway a must stop here and do the rewards program. . Online orders are great also, if you are missing g home. Expensive but always yummy

This year, I picked up my Thanksgiving Turkey Meal from Mililani and the service was such a contrast from the Waiau location where I usually go. Waiau is superior, hands down. Friendly, smoother, and quicker. You don't even have to get out of your car, and someone approaches you as soon as you drive up. Thank you, Waiau Zippy's, for the exceptional service!

With all the money that Zippy makes they have no class. The special of Korean chicken plate with chili was for $9.99 when I got to the cashier to place my order I asked to separate the chili and the Mac salad from the plate because it was hot and cold together. She told me she cannot do this and I would have to order the regular pricing which was $15 Imagine paying five dollars more just to separate the hot and cold on the plate with all the money Zippy is making off the local people. They cannot even spend a little money just to separate the hot and cold items already their prices are really high such a disappointment.

Love Zippy's especially the Waiau location. Everything always comes out perfect, even the saimin (its never overcooked or mushy). I never have a problem here at this location. I'm also really happy they open at 5am (just found that out). The staff here is also awesome.

Late dinner. Childhood memories. Been coming here since they opened and try to stop by when I'm home visiting. Always fast and friendly service. It's a nice big restaurant with lots of room and looks almost the same as when I came as a kid. My favorites are chili burrito, chili spaghetti, wun tun min, Teri beef bun, fried chicken, and Zip Pac. A bonus from the attached Napoleon bakery is the yeast donuts with chocolate center.

Service is awesome as always! But no more bottled ketchup! Comes in this little container! If you eat inside restaurant! Not sure but take out side! Aloha a hui hou Zippys!

7/26/24 Did a mobile order for 3:45PM pick-up & had received a text that my order was ready at 3:30PM. I usually do curbside at this location & noticed on the app that it only offered pickup or delivery. They were doing a July special on Friday's for a char siu pork plate & wanted to give it a try. What I like about Zippy's is that they offer different specials monthly. Some are hits, some are misses, some are repeats. When I got there, I needed to use the restroom first. I asked the gal at the counter for the door code. I don't know if it was the key pad on the door or me but I had to try the code 3 times before the green lite came on with a click. I do not usually have a problem with door codes but it did seem like I had to press down a little harder on the numbers. Restroom was relatively clean for a public restroom. When I got to the counter, there were 2 ladies working, no line. Both were nice & friendly, didn't catch their names. Once I got my order, I inquired about curbside to see if it was a permanent thing like the Waipio location that doesn't have curbside no longer. She said they still have it but on days they are short-handed or in training, they do not. At the Waipio location, you are texted a code & locker number & when you go inside to pick-up, the heated food lockers are located to the right of the counter. Key in the code to your locker, then the door unlocks to get your order. I like this system because it is still contactless & you don't have to go to the counter. When I did my order for the Waiau location, I thought they had switched over to the same & was waiting for my text. Never got any more texts after the first one they sent so I asked if they were moving to that food locker system, as well. The gal said yes, eventually they are going that route & when they do, that's when there will be no more curbside. Good to know! Char siu pork plate, all mac - ONO! Pork was tender, very tasty & it wasn't dry or burnt. Mac salad was ok, good flavor but a little too much mayo. Zip pac with brown rice - an ONO favorite of the hubs. Comes with Teri beef, span, breaded fish, & fried chicken thigh. One of the few times my hubby said that the chicken tasted fresh & not dried out or sitting for hours. Portuguese bean soup, large - my favorite! Always ono tasting & chunky. They do not skimp on the Portuguese sausage, either. It's a great quick-fix when I don't have the time or energy to make it myself. Clam chowder, large. I thought it had good flavor & tasty with clams in every spoonful. Hubs thought it was ok, but has had better. They make this soup quite thick & hubby didn't eat it until the next day. I had to add a little milk to thin it out. Custard pie slice - this was good. Hubs is not a big fan of custard pie but when he tasted it, he found it to be good, too. Banana cream pie slice - My hubs favorite, but he was disappointed in this one. Usually he has no problems with it. The slice was a little beat up looking, kinda falling apart at the side & the bananas were more on the brown side. Flavor wise he said, was on point. Overall, fast & friendly service with tasty food. Side note - every time at Zippy's (all locations),whenever I check the box for no utensils for my pick-up orders, they always include it in the bag. We usually don't need them since we eat at home. Trying to save you some supply costs Zippy's, just saying.

Having received a flyer in the mail for a discount, I decided to use it today. It was for 20 % of the entire bill for former Zippys Senior Club members. Yes ,Im a senior citizen. Ha ha ha. My wife ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, and I ordered the chicken Trio. The trio came with Korean chicken, one fried chicken breast, and chicken Katsu. This dish is for chicken lovers. The Katsu was overdone ,but overall, it was a winner. The service was excellent, to my surprise. Enjoy.

Terrible service in Restaurant 5/19 @9:30am when greeter sat down couple after me he served them water. 8-10 min later He did not offer for me. when lisa my server asked if i wanted anything to drink . told her I was ready to order then she let me know that she will be right back. And put another order in. 5 min later. then she ask me. The couple that came after their meal came before mine. I am only one person compared to a couple. mine was a simple order just short stack and side egg. that was it. went around and ask how you are doing. she skipped me. of all the times I have come here It was the worst customer service I have received. Management please retrain staff on etiquette of not making people feel uncomfortable being ignored. Helping others that came after you. And getting a better customer service experience. This will not stop me from visiting the restaurant in the future I just had a bad experience and hopefully not repeated. I appreciate your time and consideration

Very disappointed with the bakery department. I called in an order for their Peach Bavarian cake. It was for my mom's 87th birthday and probably her last. This was done 24 hours in advance knowing this cake is popular. I called a second time to add another cake. I changed the color of the icing that would be used to write Happy Birthday Mom. My pick up time was for 5:30pm. To my disappointment, no cake and/or order. The employee that was assisting was not all that helpful and too busy to assist. With all that said, my mom got a grocery store bought cake which was very disappointing and embarrassing. Sadly, this was the first and last time I will trust Zippy's Napoleon Bakery to handle such an important order.

Always a must when visiting. Sao I'm just brings a lot of memories of childhood growing up in the islands. The food stay consistently very good. Zippy's menu offers islanders favorites and have added new ones since. The restaurant is very laid back, relax casual island vibe. The service is always impressive. It's one of the reason why it's loyal customers keep coming back.

It's been a while since I've been to Zippy's on Oahu. I flew in from Portland really late. Tired and starving my daughter searched for places open after 11a. It was packed but I decided to go to the sit down restaurant side. Eduardo our server told us it was because of graduation. I had a hard time deciding what to eat because I wanted all my old favorites. Eduardo was patient and kind with us. Finally ordered and I couldn't believe how fast our food was served. It was hot and yummy. He reminded us about the rewards membership and when he found that it was recently my bday he got a cake and had the staff loudly sing happy birthday. As embarrassed as I was it was really sweet of them. They were so energetic it sounded like some of the patrons were also singing. One of the best experiences I've had at Zippy's .

Nostalgic for some chili franks and it was on "special." The good: chili same consistent old school taste they stay the course well on this item. Problem is that there was exactly 5 spoonfuls of chili--just enough for a single layer of beans and sauce under the franks. I was under the false impression that the 9.99 special was a full meal, fooled me good. It was a mini serving at best. And for some reason the Mac salad was a bit watery and did not have any consistency, just some noddles with a little mayo. Finished the chili and franks with less that one scoop of rice needed, as they simply was not enough chili to be considered a meal. Even at 9.99 lose money. Change in inevitable and I need to make a change and stay away from Zippys to preserve the childhood memories of what was once an iconic local establishment that was a huge part of growing up in the islands. Leaving Zippys in my past. Never going back again.

Wow...45 minutes for a simple donburi. It wasn't staffing..other orders kept coming out. The other half of my order done in minutes. No apologies , no updates..kind of rude response when I asked. Nothing, guy just pointed at my food.

Family go to place for local food. This location was a prime spot in the area until the Pearl City location was built. BUT this place has better parking. The Pearl City location is small and tight.

It was just okay, it's wasn't anything that I will go back to eat again. The staff was very welcoming

Zippys used to be cheap... oxtail soup $27 plus tip and only couple bones ... never again

The food was extremely uncanny but creative in a good way. There was actually a meal that was a fusion between spaghetti and chili (complete with garlic bread), and it tasted the best. If you're into cuisine fusions this is the best place to start. Highly recommend

Order 5 plate today and portion very little due to busy day. Not worth it. Zippy's not in my list.

Service time for in-dining is terrible. Save yourself some trouble and eat at the Pearl City location.

The ambient was pretty relaxing coming in. We showed up for breakfast. Service was adequate - we got our table fairly quickly (didn't need to use the QR code to get on the waitlist), and our order was processed almost immediately. Nice folks :) On the way out, this weird cloud of alluring temptation drew us to the bakery for desserts...beware! I would've taken a picture of the dessert, but it had already eluded my camera by hiding in our stomach. So sorry.

Their mushroom chicken is so wrong. instead of using chicken thighs, they chop up chicken. I guess it's chicken breast. But, it's a no for me. Another time, I ordered the shoyu chicken. NO NO NO! It was so bleh. They need to add brown sugar. Come on, Zippys!
