Ordered a lavender vanilla latte with oat milk and another lavender vanilla matcha. Shared lox on wheat toast, and it was the perfect amount to share among two people. Everything was delicious, and service was very prompt. My favorite Coffee Cafe in the neighborhood!

Google
Amazing overall experience! I enjoyed the hot chocolate with the cute heart they put on it really made my day. My Mom loved the biscuit sandwich and how nice the staff are! Thanks for making our breakfast special!

Google
Obsessed with this place! The vibe is phenomenal, the staff wonderful, the treats superb, with delicious coffee and its great place to bring kids! It could not be better! They have a whole kids play section in the back my toddler is obsessed with so we’re both delighted. I would come here all the time if I lived a little closer, and always add it as a stop when visiting Books Inc San Leandro!

Google
Friendly staff and customers. Seems that there’s a lot of regular customers and they’re happy. The pastries and coffee are delicious. Consistent quality. Line moves along. Recently, about 20 fire men and women met up there out front on the sidewalk, all in uniform, coffee drinks in hand. Seems like it was before or after their shift. Nice to see them all there.

Pondered on Google Maps to find this gem so close to where I live. I love the whole atmosphere, very calm and spacious with no loud music distracting people's concentration and work. Water and to-go boxes are all self-serve with lots of tables available to sit at (at least during this time of the day; 2 pm). Got outlet plugs lined against the wall it would be nice to have some available in the middle seating area so people won't have to crowd or "fight" to get a seat along the wall area. Wifi is free but will require an access code or password to use it while you sip your cup of coffee. Parking is street parking. It's a meter-paid method but if you do not mind walking, there is free parking a few blocks down or a street away. The food was good! I wish I was hungry enough to try their lunch menu because that sold me to come here, but their granola bowl has basic ingredient toppings that have a base of yogurt. I would certainly come back to study again or just to come and chill.

Google
Zocalo CoffeeHouse is a delightful meet-up spot that I've frequented twice now, and it hasn’t disappointed me yet. Finding parking has been a breeze both times, allowing me to dive into the cozy atmosphere without stress. The coffee selection varies and I'm still exploring the menu. The ambiance is beautiful, with plenty of seating and a charming kids' section in the back. While they were out of milkshakes during my last visit, the vast array of other food and coffee options more than made up for it. I'll certainly be returning for another sip soon.

This place is great clean, dog friendly, kid friendly with play area. And a nice atmosphere for adults to have some calm and relaxing time. Friendly staff I love it here.

Google
Excellent Coffeehouse in San Leandro. We visited Zocalo Coffeehouse on a Saturday morning at around 10AM for coffee & brunch. The coffeehouse has an excellent atmosphere - large number of tables, huge windows for natural light, and excellent furnishing. We ordered a Veggie Breakfast Sando, Avocado Toast, Borgia and White Chocolate Mocha at the counter before we found a table and sat down. Since the place was busy, our order took a while, but that was to be expected. We enjoyed our food and beverages - the coffee was excellent (we actually bought a bag of coffee on our way out), and the sandwich and avocado toast were well seasoned with fresh ingredients and bakery products.

Yelp
So I came in here on a whim with my brother-in-law last week, and once more on my final day in San Leandro, and my oh my is this place absolutely charming! It reminds me of a bigger version of a coffee joint back home in Tarpon! The environment is clean and classy as all hell, with the feel of one of those homey old-school vibes, and the smell of coffee and baked goods permeates the air. I definitely felt a sense of warmth coming into this shop, especially given how kind and humorous the people working here are. They specialize in teas, lattes, and espressos...For children, they even serve hot chocolate which I thought was a nice little treat (of course, adults can buy it too). So I decided to try something from their Summer menu; the Mango Lemonade Razz (which I keep pronouncing as rizz, much to the staff's amusement). It was fruity, delicious, and although it looked nothing like it did in the pamphlet (which I found irksome in general, but not enough to deduct on the rating over), it still was so nice I had to try it thrice! Next time I return to San Leandro, I definitely want to give their normal coffee a shot and see how they do!

Yelp
I've been to nearby Paradiso many times, but didn't know that such a cute coffeehouse was just steps away. I originally saw this place on an Instagram reel highlighting kid friendly spots in the East Bay. This is probably the only East Bay coffeehouse I know of that has a dedicated space for kids to play and built in bench style seating so the adults can stay nearby. For parents of older children, there are plenty of tables to choose from throughout the shop, though. I stopped by on a random afternoon with my toddler and ordered an iced matcha with whole milk and honey lavender. With tip, it came out to a little over $9, which to me is comparable to most of my bubble tea orders which don't come with space for my little one to play around in. I was able to enjoy my matcha, play with my toddler, and support local. All in all a really great afternoon and I look forward to future trips here.

Yelp
I love Zocalo! I really appreciate that this location has ample seating, solid brunch, & of course amazing coffee. My favorite is the Borgia latte & the Creme Brulee. Such smooth and unique flavors that are not overly sweet & balance the notes in the espresso really nicely I came with a group that was a total of 4 adults & 1 child and we easily found a seat around 10am with no line. We did notice that it gets busier around 11am with longer lines. Only thing I would recommend improving is possibly pricing. I know this is a tough one in the economy, however I do feel like the cost of the latte's are a bit up there, especially when having to substitute for non-dairy milk. 16oz latte with oatmilk came out to about ~$8 which is just insane to me. I do love it, however it's a def "treat yourself" type of latte considering the price

Yelp
Got ayummy vanilla iced coffee here. Inside is the coffee shop is very hip and there is TONS of seating which is important because coffee shops are gathering places! We sat outside with our dog, which was lovely in the nice weather. My coffee was delicious, not too sweet, and very high quality. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Came on a calm Saturday morning. Parking can be tough since it's on a busy yet residential area. Place wasn't that packed and the service was good. I've been here a couple times and this was my first occasion trying the food. Since it was nice we sat outside and our food was brought to us. You order inside and they have a variety of lattes + breakfast + lunch items, including Mimosas. My matcha was perfect, tastes like real matcha not super sweet. The biscuit was yummy and same with the Avocado toast.

Yelp
Cute café with a semi busy ambiance. A lot of people doing computer work there & there is a cute section for kids so parents can relax and enjoy their coffees. My husband and I got the Borgia & Mexican Mocha. Both drinks tasted amazing where the coffee flavor comes through and it's not too milky and watered down. Borgia tastes exactly like a chocolate with orange filling. It's not too overly sweet but for me personally, I would get it a little less sweet next time. My husband's Mexican Mocha w/ oat milk was our favorite. Flavors were very well balanced and the spices were very fragrant. He killed his drink pretty fast. They have baked goods, breakfast, & lunch options which we didn't get to try. Perhaps next time! Highly recommend trying them out :)

Yelp
Great spot to have a catch-up with loved ones, or a nice lunch date, or a remote work spot. High ceilings, bright, cheery. Great amount of seating, but just be mindful of the typically times of the day. It feels like how coffee shops used to be a few decades ago, in the best sense :)

Yelp
Super cute local coffeeshop! Stopped by for a quick coffee and was pleasantly surprised by the drinks; we tried the orange mocha (borgia) and the creme brulee latte (1/3 sweet) and both were delicious! It was super bustling and cozy inside, there's lots of seating, wifi, and a children's play area! Local art on the walls too.

Yelp
I haven't been here in ages. This used to be my go to spot when my child was toddler/preschool age. They still have the kids play area, and it definitely seems to have more things than I remember. The staff are always friendly. The other customers are also always great. The coffee is delicious and the food yummy and satisfying. Due to its size, it does get a bit noisy. I forgot headphones for my noise sensitive child. However they are super distracted by all the games and toys.

Yelp
Today I experienced an unfriendly environment. The vibe is what always brought me back here and a desire to support neighborhood business But today -- I don't need to support a place that doesn't care about me as a customer Food was additionally mediocre. My previous review was 3 stars. Threw away my purchase and went to Peet's

Yelp
If you happen to be in the area or a local, I can understand why you would love Zocalo. The mexican mocha coffee is delicious. But personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit here unless I was craving that specifically. Came here for the first time at around 10 AM and the place was already packed. You're basically out of luck finding a seat unless you're willing to stay for a few hours, but we were lucky there were some high chairs near the little play area to sit. After ordering, it took us 30 minutes to get our chai latte and mexican mocha. Which feels way too long just for drinks and unfortunately the chai latte was basically milk with ginger and no chai. By the time our drinks came, our food made it too. Honestly the slight saving grace to this experience was the food. The lox sandwich was just okay. Nothing special in particular about it, but the mushroom quiche was actually unique and surprising. My only complaint? It was so small for the price. The salad was generous but the mushroom quiche is what you ordered for $17. I would expect it to be bigger. So overall, unless you're in the area, I would recommend skipping. Oh and it's paid street parking only. 9AM - 6 PM.

Yelp
Nice variety menu Service was very nice Very cool environment very good for little kids because they have their playing area Great ambience

Yelp
I got an espresso and oat milk cortado. The espresso was a ok. Darker roast, not much crema, the slightest burnt taste but not problematic. 6/10 The cortado was ok. Well made but I think would have been even better with something like almond milk to better balance the flavor. 6/10

Yelp
Love it here It totally has the old school coffee house vibe and eacho. With the old wood and metal is plant life giving the room a hit of green. There is a space for everyone. We have the cafe table for folk to sit and talk they have the high tables that folks are working from. They even have a small area for the kiddos to play. It gives true community gathering location. Oh and did I mention the coffee and food options are awesome
google avatar

Jorge G.

Yelp
Over priced for the quality and the portion size is terrible for their bowl i assumed it would be bigger but i got in in a cup. For 14 dollars? Really terrible
google avatar

Camila Y.

Yelp
Got the white chocolate mocha which was good. Drink it fast while its warm because the white chocolate settles at the bottom making the last few sips super sweet. They also offer food and beer options here which is nice creating more of a social environment. Lots of seating inside too and they have a small kids play area in the back. Staff are friendly all around. May not be the best place if you want a quiet work place as it was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon when I went. Just bring noise cancelling headphones! A good place to grab a bite with friends or to hang out though.
google avatar

Audrey S.

Yelp
Came in on a weekday afternoon and there were a lot of people working on their laptops. They offer free wifi, which is a great perk. Parking is street parking on a street with a lot of shops, which could get busy. My parking spot only allowed me to stay for 3 hours. They have a little kiddie area which is super cute. Moms will bring in their kids, which can get loud, but that is pretty infrequent. Food was not bad but nothing to write home about. Overall, it was not a bad place to do some work.
google avatar

Ashley J.

Yelp
My mom told me about this place (she lives in San Leandro). I love the atmosphere, good vibes. Friendly staff. Clean. I really like their French toast casserole! I also dig the use of tarot cards for table numbers. Very relaxing place to dine.

Chiquis J.

Yelp
Coffee is mid and over priced. Food is over priced. Could've gone to Peet's coffee for a regular coffee.

Yelp
This place is beautiful! Upon walking in, you're greeted with friendly baristas and so many plants. I love the extensive menu. There are many different drink options (they don't charge extra for milk substitute) and a full lunch/brunch menu. My friend and I were able to find seats against the window and talk without feeling disruptive or rushed out. This place does fill up quickly so I recommend coming early if you plan on coming during the normal work hours. They have outdoor seating as well but it is near a busy street. Street parking is available, however, it is filled quickly as there are many businesses in the area.

Yelp
I been meaning to check out this coffee shop! Loved how spacious it is and the options they had. Service was great and quick. I also liked how much seating there was and it was not too loud.

Yelp
Perfect morning coffee. My wife finished her entire coffee before me for the first time. Good service and the place has a nice vibe too. Thanks to our friend Hindhu garu who recommended this place. Will come here again and try other coffees
google avatar

Yelp
Great vibes and ambience. Artwork draping the walls. Delicious peanut butter/banana/coconut/chocolate chip toast. Scored with front metered parking. Bought a bag of the roast to take home...women owned!
google avatar

Glenn L.

Yelp
Came in for matcha, but they were out so settled on a dirty chai. The drink was great but the vibe here is awesome! Lots of seats and the food going by looked great. If I lived near here, this would be a regular place for me.

Yelp
Great coffee and pastries. Friendly atmosphere! Love the kid friendly area also. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I love Zocalo DOWN. Came for the Borgia and stayed for the vibes and friendly customer service. You can't go wrong with any of their specialty espresso drinks. The Borgia just happens to be my fave. The rotating artwork from SL high school is always a treat to see. I love that they started doing this. Those kids are so talented! I also love the greenery as a fellow plant lover but yall definitely have a fungus gnat infestation :(. It makes sitting in the dining room for extended periods of time super unenjoyable :( I sat in the back corner near the record player for several hours and it seems to be extra bad back there. I will forever recommend zocalo to folks wanting to try good local coffee, but please oh please try drying out the soil, bottom watering, mosquito bits (these really helped me), and neem oil. That's how I got rid of mine. I know how difficult getting these infestations under control can be. Sticky traps probably aren't the most appealing to have in a food establishment but as a customer I'd rather see those than have to constantly swat gnats while I eat and enjoy my yummy coffee. Sorry if you've already looked into this! Just wanted to offer solutions and not just complain lol Thank you team Zocalo!
google avatar

Yelp
(Ryan Reynolds voiceover) The vibe is sophisticated café on Bancroft! Nolan warmly greeted us. He recommended the Creme Brulée Latte. My gosh! It was creme de la creme of lattes! Soo much like a dessert! The Borja Latte was the perfect level of orange. Sooooo nice! The Roast Beef Sandwich w/ Bacon is what make men men. The syntax is excruciating but the sandwich is exquisite! The salad side was the perfect gourmet touch! It the perfect place to get some creative work done! Like writing or going over comic book panels (which I did). My gosh l, this place rocks! Thanks, Nolan! We'll be back! Woohoo!
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Great ambiance and the food is good. The drip coffee is awful, though IMHO. Better to get an Americano if you want a cup of black coffee.
google avatar

Jin S.

Yelp
The wait is well worth it. This coffee is very well made. I got the Bourgia. The hints of orange with the mocha with orange. Was very delicious. The atmosphere is warm and pleasant. There's even a child play place for your kids while you wait.
google avatar

Carlie C.

Yelp
Had a long wait before a flight so I stopped by Zocalo and I'm so glad that I did! The baristas were kind and helpful, the coffee shop is spacious with many different seating areas and spaces, plenty of outlets and people working, and even a little corner for kids to play and read. I bought a bag of their coffee beans and got a free cup of coffee included! If you're in the area check them out
google avatar

Erica Y.

Yelp
I had intense cravings for biscuit breakfast sandwich, and searched everywhere for one that would open at 7am, and finally found zocalo. While I've been to zocalo before (their iced mocha is sooo good), I didn't know they had served this on their breakfast menu! The biscuit was falling apart and lacking a bit of butter, but otherwise the sandwich was stacked and I had to take off one of the breads so I can even take a bite into it! One of the downsides is that it was a little expensive, around $16 for the sandwich & fresh berries including the add-on avocado upcharge. I'd still come back if I wanted to treat myself, but pricey enough where I would maybe eat breakfast beforehand and just come for a coffee!
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
PROS: Great food, good service, decent coffee, nice hours w/ large space to hangout and work. Support your local small businesses! CONS: Flies/gnats always flying around, bad loud music and sometimes they burn coffee/bread and makes the whole place unbearably smelly. EDITED: The gnats are so annoying though that it is the main reason I cannot give a higher rating. I see other customers swatting away and getting annoyed by them too. I've been here 5+ times in the past 2 months and it is the same problem every time. Two gnats actually landed on my plate and started mating. (Tip to management: You have a lot of nice plants inside but that is potentially where gnats are breeding. You should place fruit fly sticker traps in the pots to catch them.)
google avatar

Greg S.

Yelp
Fun local coffee house that has a good sized seating area and some good eats to choose from. Nice and efficient staff as well. My only gripe which has nothing to do with Zocalo, is why people setup shop at a table and then go sit and hang out at a completely different table with their friends...Just move your stuff and free up a table! Plus of course those that refuse to bus their own table...it's not difficult to do.
google avatar

Candice N.

Yelp
This coffee house brews more than just caffeine--it conjures an experience. Symbolic touches and a hint of mysticism linger in the air, from the decor to the table numbers. Their craft coffee is imaginative yet grounded, with recipes that feel like rituals in a cup. Paired with warm, flavor-packed sandwiches and a coupe filled with Prosecco or cup of espresso, it's a space where every detail feels intentional. Come for the coffee, stay for the vibe--and maybe a glimpse of something unseen.
google avatar

Charlene O.

Yelp
Best cafe I've ever studied at. No cafe has ever been as good of an experience to study at than this one because of its rotating brunch/dinner menus, ample seating, great pastry selection and craftsmanship, and quality/fun coffee options! There's a lot of variation in lighting, so you can tailor the vibe to your liking. The first time I came, I studied for a couple hours and they had live music at night. Seeing the community come together to support small artists and local businesses was a phenomenal experience. They even had a children's area! Place has two good bathrooms as well. 10/10 hands and feet down.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're in the mood for a sweet coffee treat - their Cream Brûlée Latte is just what you need! Comes iced or hot and it screams creamy sweet goodness! Also the staff is great!
google avatar

Olivia G.

Yelp
I was in the area and wanted to try a new coffee shop. I was interested in the Mexican mocha since it's not on all coffee menus. I got the iced Mexican mocha with oat milk and it was super delicious. The chocolate is not too over powering and the hint of spice is just right. The baristas and workers there all seemed really friendly and I felt like I fit in. It's also a large location, busy for a Sunday at noontime. I would definitely come again if I'm in the area!

Yelp
Update: I've attached the receipt showing I PAID for the biscuit and Jam the server claimed I didn't. So zocalo ripped me off, lied about seeing the receipt, and stole from ME while giving me attitude. ---------------- I've been to Zocalo twice before, with generally good results. The coffee is good, even if a bit pricey, the service is relatively timely. Today however I am extremely unhappy with the service. The girl who was taking my order asked me to repeat myself several times - she seemed to be unable to handle taking an order as she was spacing out. That didn't bother me. It happens. What bothers me is the way I was treated when I asked about where my food was. A woman came out and claimed that the girl taking orders never rung me up for it, but that they'd still make me one. I asked my husband if he had a receipt, she interrupted me, and claimed she'd "seen" the order and it wasn't on there. Again, she said we didn't pay for it but they'd make it. Her tone was kind of huffy, as if she was doing me a favor or as if I were trying to scam them. I of course declined. This kind of behavior is unbecoming. If you have an employee who can't take down four items then that is a business failure and you should assess whether they belong in that particular position - not treat your customers of color like you're doing them some big favor by correcting your establishments mistake.

Yelp
Pretty exciting vibe. It was very packed around 11pm. The coffee was good and I also had a pastry which was good as well. The service was friendly and it seems this place is a real neighborhood oriented establishment. Will have to again when I am not in a hurry.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here last week and it was fantastic! Loved the fresh food, variety of pastries, easy place to set up my laptop, and the staff were very helpful. Also tried to creme brûlée iced coffee and it hit the spot. Street parking wasn't too bad either. Will definitely return!
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
The cutest little coffee shop in downtown San Leandro. Truly a hidden gem. I wasnt expecting it to be so warm and inviting inside based off the photos on here, but it was! Maybe it was all of the green plants, the family photos on the wall, the cute kids area, or huge selection of board games -- but overall I really enjoyed this cafe. I, of course, got a iced matcha latte with oat milk and sugar free vanilla -- so yummy! i would so go here again just for the vibes or even to work. Truly recommend, dont sleep on this place!
google avatar

Magda M.

Yelp
My sister lives nearby so i decided to try this place out for a few hours of working. Lots of tables and lots of electrical outlets if you need some power when working! I really appreciate this - not many places make sure it's easy to get work done. The cashier was super friendly. I got a coffee and avocado toast. It was super fresh and pretty and very tasty. So many places skimp on the avocado but this is not the case here. The greens were a nice touch as well. And the radish was pretty. Definitely recommend Zocalo!! I will come back!!
google avatar

Ofelia B.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and very cute ambiance. Spacious cafe. Definitely recommend the bites as well.

Vrushali N.

Yelp
Liked everything about this cafe. Had an hour to kill while our cat was getting his chemo nearby so we decided to get some coffee and eats here. Ordered the breakfast egg sandwich, peanut butter banana toast both were excellent and we got a side of scrambled eggs which was just ok. The coffee is the star here. We got the medium roast and wow wow wow , loved it. Really liked the space, the music playing in the background, the restroom and most importantly the nice folks working here. Will be back .
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun and funky little neighborhood spot with coffee made the way it should be. The kind of spot with such a diverse community it's a joy, right down to the quirky older guy singing and shimmying in line beside me. The service is lovely. The prices are a bit much, I struggle with $15 avocado toast but I suppose that's the state of the world these days!!! Will absolutely return again and again.

Yelp
I've been hearing about this place for a while but I've never taken the time to try it out. So when my little bro wanted to hang out over coffee and said he was craving a chai latte, I thought this would be the place to check out. The vibes are super cute! There's a bunch of seating, lots of natural light, and so many plants, all together it comes off super cozy. The table markers are tarot cards so I love it. Ok now for the drinks, I had the dirty chai latte with the shake upgrade. When I tell you that drink was so damn good! It's so creamy because they replace the milk with ice cream, and I've been thinking about it ever since! It's a little pricey but i definitely think it was worth it. Overall I'd definitely recommend checking it out

Yelp
Went again for our usual coffees. Barista did a poor job. Inconsistent coffee can make your day start off sad

Yelp
it was a very cute downtown feeling ambiance parking was a bit challenging but the service was good the cashier was great at offering suggestions as I eat mostly vegan and there were so many possibilities. i met up with an old friend and ate outside with my dog the pavement was uneven and the chairs were uncomfortable but over al we like it very quant and welcoming place to grab brunch . i had a salad and sandwich no dairy and it was delicious.

Yelp
Love the coffee, sandwiches and toast are tasty but that LOUD music is extremely annoying....9am this morning with coffee date, no possible way to have a conversation. And computer workers sit talking on their phones - This was not a one-off.....music is regularly played so loud I have turned around and walked back out. There are other coffee shops with excellent coffee and conversation is possible.
