Decided to come to this place to check out a brewery I've never been to. AND IT'S GERMAN!?!?!?!? Sweeeeet~ it gon be gud~
And it's was! For the beers at least. I went with my family and got to taste their lager, pilsner, kolsch, hefe, red ale, and dark beer and OMG THEY WERE ALL UNIQUE AND DELICIOUS!!!!! You get the flavors that you're used to in Oregon beers but some how softer and lighter on the palate than American beers! It's like there's a pillow fight with Victoria Secret German servers in your mouth with each pint!
Their food on the other hand, I would not hold too much expectation for. We got a variety of their happy hour curry bratwurst fries, fish and chips, special of the day schnizel, and a sausage platter.
Curry bratwurst fries were delectable. Our server, Kristina, was very knowledgeable with the menu and beer recommendations were on point, also pointed out that this dish was a staple in German street foods. And I found out why! You get a whole bratwurst with fries and curry ketchup. "Smells like Germany" is the thought that came in mind from someone who live in Germany. Boom. You guys did it. We're off to a good start.
Their schnitzel and fish and chips weren't anything to brag about but enjoyable all the same. Not worth the price but hey, you should pair something German if you're drinking quality German brews. So what the heck. The batter on the fish stayed stuck to the fish all the way until the end, which showed how well the recipe and thought was put into the dishes so food quality is on point.
Unfortunately, our final dish with the sausage platter, lost all expectation of quality German cuisines here. This dish might as well have been renamed a meat platter instead. Served with a single bratwurst, a thick slice of meatloaf, potatoes tossed in a vinegrette, and some sauerkraut, expect a deflation of expectation and about average level of excitement as the prior dishes.
Overall, the customer service was on point with the exception of lack of attention or overwhelming responsibilities of the staff. More than once during happy hour, I've noticed a wait time of around 10-20 minutes before a staff checks on any single tables, as well as a split of responsibility of the customers for each server. I get that there's no point in caring for another server's customer because you don't get any tip; but there's no advantage that's worth losing respect for the establishment.
Beers - 5/5 Must come visit for the brews!
Foods - 3/5 Average quality but GERMAN! (right?)
Service - 4/5 Great service but could use a little more attention to the customers
Note: I saw a group that went for their sandwiches and they looked delectable! Highly suggest going for their sandwiches instead!
