"Skewers and sake after the beach? That’s a real possibility at Zoku in Redondo, a sleek, minimalist yakitori bar where you can order wagyu, chicken breast brushed in plum sauce, and buttered hokkaido scallop on a stick. There’s a total of 15 sticks on the menu (half of them chicken, the rest a mix of veggie, seafood, and beef), plus non-skewered dishes like shishitos dusted with matcha curry powder and karaage with “Chick-Fil-A” mayo. "The South Bay is home to some of LA’s finest Japanese restaurants, and Zoku is the latest addition to the scene. The izakaya specializes in traditional and new-school yakitori grilled over binchotan, with an emphasis on chicken skewers; beef, seafood, and vegetable options are available as well. Beer and sake pair perfectly with the snacky menu." - Cathy Chaplin

Fantastic! Such a cute spot for a dinner. Happy to have a new addition in the riviera that not only looks nice but actually boasts great quality and cooking focused on detail. Everything i had was fantastic, and I can’t wait to bring friends and family next time.

This was a good place to eat at. The yakitori is very good but a bit pricey. The chicken yakitori, scallop, beef wagyu and unagi were very good. The staff was super nice and attentive. The atmosphere was good and very inviting. Reservations are recommended as it does get very busy, especially on weekends. I'd had some of the happy hour items it was good so I'd love to come back here to get more items from the happy hour menu.

This restaurant excels in every aspect! The atmosphere, the staff, and every detail—from the dishes to the interior and exterior design—were simply outstanding. However, I must emphasize that the food was truly exceptional. Everything we ordered surpassed our expectations. The Yakitori dishes were incredibly tender and juicy, and from appetizers to dessert, the entire experience was unforgettable. We will definitely return and hope this place continues to thrive for decades to come.

A much needed addition to the Riviera Village. Fresh food, friendly and attentive service, and a great atmosphere! Perfect balance between more hearty appetizers and simple yet delicious skewers. This is a south bay must try!

Amazing dining experience at Zoku in Redondo Beach! The service was top notch and the ambiance was perfect. Delicious food! Everything we got was tremendous!! Google
We had a lovely dinner experience at Zoku. The food was amazing with great quality of ingredients. The chicken was cooked so well and very juicy in all of the chicken dishes. I thought the textures for each dish were wonderfully done. Highlights include the teba chicken wings, curry seasoned shishito peppers, zoku karaage, and wagyu beef. They ran out of the hojicha panna cotta but the mango parfait we ordered instead impressed us - tasted very fresh and not too sweet. Service was excellent and the whole staff is so welcoming and attentive. Huge props to the whole crew. I would love to return here in the future!

I recently visited Zoku to celebrate a friend's birthday and proposal, and it was a fantastic choice! The new yakitori spot has a minimal yet thoughtfully designed interior that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The salad dressing was perfect way to start the meal and I have been trying to figure out how to replicate the dressing. The yakitori itself was exceptional, with each skewer cooked to perfection and bursting in flavors. We couldn't decide on which dessert to get and ended up just ordering all 3 desserts and they did not disappoint! I don't have much of a sweet tooth but the desserts were perfect as they were not overly sweet! Also, the staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. So, if you're looking for a place with great food and relaxed ambiance, Zoku is definitely worth a visit!

From the second you walk in, it's clear this place is serious about its food--like, "we have a private chef for our dog" serious. The decor, dishware, and food are so perfectly in sync, it's like they hired a choreographer for their kitchen. The wagyu skewersand meatballs are like the culinary equivalent of a standing ovation. And the desserts? The peach parfait is basically a hug in a glass, and the matcha brûlée is so good, it might actually be a form of sorcery. This place is so hot right now, you might need a reservation just to get in line. Get there early, or prepare to elbow your way through a crowd of food enthusiasts!

Yelp
The kushiyaki were very good. I would recommend the very basic of mono (chicken thighs with yakitori sauce), tsukune (chicken meatball with Japanese Tare) and any of the seafood kushiyaki options. we had the Hofstra (Hokkaido scallops) and evil (Giant shrimp) finished with dessert as well. the chicken thighs were very well cooked. they maintained their moistness even towards the very center of the chicken thigh. I suspect brining was done well. the scallops and ebi were well cooked as well. scallops weren't tough At all. everything was grilled on top of charcoal to give a good chargrilled taste as well. service was impeccable. the waitress took her time to explain everything in the menu top to bottom despite the busy full booked restaurant. This is a good place for a quick beer drink and date out for some quick kushiyaki date. The lightning is perfect not too dark and not too bright.

Yelp
First time here, friend made reservations for 7:30pm, and we were able to get seated right away. Small location but it made the ambiance great. Ordered some drinks and food and they were all great! The only downside, which I think is pretty big, is that they ran out of chicken thighs. And when their popular items are the chicken thighs, it was quite disappointing not to be able to try them all. They said they had one left, my friends and I still ordered the last one, because we really wanted to try it, however I wished that we all could've had our own skewers to try. Maybe come for lunch? Everything we ordered though tasted amazing, but I would've wished our first time experience allowed us to taste their different chicken thighs flavors. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Plenty of parking outside, however there's meters for all of them from what I saw, come prepared!

Yelp
If you're looking for a cozy Japanese izakaya with bold flavors, Zoku delivers. The decor is minimal, with subtle Japanese artwork, creating a simple but inviting atmosphere. Parking is available in a pay-by-space lot, so plan accordingly. You can also make a reservation, we were there on a Friday night and it was quite busy. We started with the Spicy Edamame, a classic done righ! Tossed in a flavorful spice mix that had a nice kick. The Momo Spicy (chicken thigh skewer with spicy mayo) was a highlight--juicy, tender, and perfectly charred, with just the right amount of heat. The Giant Ebi Mayo was another winner: huge, crispy shrimp coated in a creamy, tangy mayo sauce that made each bite addictive. Shishito Peppers were such a unique flavor. With matcha curry salt were a surprise hit, the matcha added an earthy depth that balanced well with the mild heat of the peppers. One of the best dishes was the Spicy Karaage, deep-fried chicken with a charcoal sauce. The crispy exterior had an incredible crunch, while the inside was juicy and packed with a subtle smoky flavor. Definitely a must-order. The only miss of the night was the Yaki Onigiri--a grilled rice ball with fish flakes. It lacked the punch of the other dishes and felt a bit dry and underwhelming. Probably safe to skip. Overall, zoku nails the izakaya experience with bold flavors and great execution. If you're into crispy, spicy, and smoky dishes, this spot is worth a visit. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu

Yelp
I love yakitori and based on the reviews I was so excited to try this place...but it was overall a big disappointment... First off, it's nice they offer reservations around on OpenTable but once I checked in, the hostess who sat us down said we only had one and a half hours to eat due to other reservations....i was fine with that but it seemed kind of rude to say that off the bat, especially when the restaurant was half empty....not to mention the service here is extremely slow.... Then, a young looking waitress with pig tails came by and asked us if we wanted to start with drinks and appetizers. Those came out pretty quickly but I had to flag her down to take the rest of the food order and we ordered onigiri and a bunch of skewers.... Then skewers came out and the first chicken wasabi one was VERY raw inside....i showed the waitress and she took it away and apologized but it made us so wary of eating the other chicken skewers.... And what's weird is that some of the other chicken skewers were overcooked and super dry & not very tasty.... Then, I noticed the waitress immediately bring out onigiri to the table right next to us that had literally just sat down but ours NEVER came out and when I asked the waitress she said she would check on it but never came back to tell us what happened.... Which I think is that she mistakenly gave our onigiri to the table next to us.... It took another 20 min for it to come out.... And it tasted off...the outside wasn't very crunchy and inside was pretty flavorless.... And then to make things worse, I overheard the waitress tell the specials to the table next to us but didn't bother telling us about it at all.... Overall, the food was not very good and service is awful...my hubs really liked the chicken wings and I thought the green tea brûlée was the best thing here but it looked gross and really should've been in a ramekin... I don't think I will be ever going back here....theres sooooo many other really good yakitori places in the South Bay.... What a disappointment.

Yelp
Great ambience, friendly staff, and delicious food, zoku is a great example of an upscale yakotori restaurant without the interesting meat parts. Prices felt standard, though you can definitely get cheaper skewers at other places. I really wish they had the interesting meat parts like intestine, heart, and liver. We ordered: * zoku Salad - 9/10: their take on a Caesar salad, I love Caesar salads so this was an easy win for me * Yaki Onigiri - 5/10: disappointingly cold somehow, just tasted like overcooked rice * Momo/Mune Wasabi/Mune Ume/Mune Honey Mustard - 8/10: all solid skewers, I would recommend substituting the chicken breast with chicken thigh since it's jucier * Wagyu Premium - 7/10: juicy and flavorful, though I'm not sure if it's worth the price * Colorful Potatoes - 8/10: went well with the chicken * Chicken Liver Pate - 6/10: weird shell thing on the outside of the liver, wish it was just in skewer form If you're introducing someone to yakitori restaurants for the first time, this is a great place as an initial start. Once they get the hang of delicious skewers, I would recommend trying offal meats elsewhere.

Yelp
High quality food executed well consistently in a quaint but busy restaurant. I've waited until we've made several visits before writing a review. I believe this is hands down one of the best restaurants in the Riviera. We've tried at least 40% of the menu and haven't been unhappy with anything we've ordered so far. Favorites include: tsukune, wagyu, spicy chicken momo, mushrooms, hotate, chicken soup, karaage, zoku salad, brussel sprouts, and raw scallop for food also a huge fan of the green tea umeshu cocktail! Interior is nice and clean and no issues with service from the wait staff. Skewers can take while to come out depending on how other tables order, if your order gets caught behind a big party, be prepared to wait a while for the food to come out. Additionally, I don't love that (for the most part) you'll need to make reservations in advance/plan around dining here. It's really hard to casually walk in for dinner as the wait times can be insane, even on random week nights.

Yelp
While the South Bay now has a ton of great Japanese restaurants, but getting an Izakiya by the beach is a huge breakthrough. Was really looking forward to checking this place out, and it delivered...for the most part. We mostly loved everything we ate. However, you pay a bit more for some items that would be cheaper at other Izakayas. Some plates (like the shrimp) were a nice combination of size, flavor and presentation. Over items, like the wagyu skewer and the scallop skewer, fell very short and were pricey for what we got. Won't be ordering those again. However, we will go back--there are plenty of hits on the menu, and I want to see this place succeed in the long term.

Yelp
Really good! I'm so happy there is another Izakaya place in South Bay, and so close to our place to boot. Everything we ordered was very good. I felt like their chicken dishes were cooked really well, although nothing was amazing or super unique, they were all very well prepared and delivered. Even their salad was yummy. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Everyone had a smile on their face even though it was pretty busy on a Sat night. Very clean and modern decor, we will definitely be back.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Everything was delicious and pretty unique! My favorites were the "tofu" cream cheese with honey and toast, the A5 Wagyu skewer (special), the giant shrimp, and the Hojicha Panna Cotta. We also loved the karaage, Zoku chicken thigh skewer, shishito peppers, happy hour chicken wings, and Zoku salad. I can't wait to go back to try the Shime dishes and more of the salads and desserts!

jessica t.

Yelp
Limited menu options which was nice and made it feel more special. Ordered 5 of the chicken skewers each which was too much of the same thing even with them all being different. I would recommend ordering more of a variety so that was my mistake. Zoku salad- basically Asian caesar salad. Delicious!!!! Would order again!! Loved the crispy wonton crunchies and sliced carrots in it

Yelp
We were so excited to finally have our very first Japanese izakaya restaurant in Redondo Beach! There are plenty of sushi spots, but this is the first izakaya that's actually really good! Woot woot! We finally got to try it this weekend for date night. The restaurant is well-lit and spacious, with a vibe that totally reminded us of our time in Tokyo a few years back. The food was pretty solid. We started with the tofu salad, and the fried tofu was super soft and not oily at all. The dressing was so delicious that I had to ask for extra to dip it in. Then we moved on to the skewers. We ordered the only beef option--wagyu--which was tasty. I'd love to see more beef skewers on the menu, but I get that this place focuses more on chicken. We tried two chicken skewers: Ume (plum) and spicy. The Ume was a bit bland on its own, but I enjoyed it more with the extra spicy sauce. We're not huge fans of chicken skewers, but these were pretty good overall, even if the Ume could use a little more flavor. The shrimp skewer was fantastic! I could really taste the charcoal, which added a nice touch. The special--salmon--was super yummy! It should definitely be a staple on the menu! (See picture below.) The spicy karaage chicken was interesting. The black sauce isn't exactly a first-date dish! I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite, and I probably wouldn't order it again since the chicken was thick and not super flavorful. To end the night, we got the mango pudding, and it was yummy! A bit pricey for the small portion, but the dessert was delicious and not overly sweet. Overall, we will definitely be back again!

Yelp
Overall experience, staff was patient and friendly, but the food isn't on the same level as the ambiance nor price. Pros: - I don't drink beer, but heard the Sapporo on tap was good, but not sure if it's worth the price in my opinion. - Spicy momo niku and teriyaki momo with the garlic mayo was probably the best out of everything we ate. - Plenty of parking even though they're run by meters. - Hojicha pannacotta was a nice surprise, the mellow earthy hojicha came through paired with the salty caramel sauce, it was a great combo. Cons: - Flavors are definitely more Americanized or lack depth when it comes to their breast options. Personally, I love wasabi yakitori meat, but the breast was so underwhelming. - Zoku Q definitely used cucumbers from Trader Joe's cause they were kyuri. - Fuji Mont Blanc has potential, but the charcoal cake was infused with some sort of liquor which completely overpowered everything. It tasted like hand sanitizer which was very off putting. - Chicken soup, pass. We were hoping because they go through a lot of chickens, the soup must be good because they might use the bones to make the soup. The color itself was a clear indication that it wasn't going to be clean tasting. There was a slight bitterness and over seasoned. - Lastly the yaki onigiri. Normally I would not order this, but it was for a friend's bday. I felt like they just lightly scorched it with a blow torch cause it didn't taste grilled nor the texture was crunchy.

Yelp
Japan's Torikizoku picks Los Angeles for its first U.S. yakitori shop, and what a gem it is! I'm so glad we stopped by to give it a try. The yakitori menu is primarily chicken, and every single skewer we ordered was fantastic--perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. We also ordered drinks and desserts, and nothing disappointed! For drinks, we tried the UJI Green Tea Umeshu. For someone like me who prefers lighter drinks, it was absolutely ideal: subtle, refreshing, and unlike anything I've ever had. It was a unique highlight of the meal! The service was outstanding, and the ambiance had that relaxed, authentic vibe that really brought me back to nights spent at a yakitori bar in Tokyo. My favorite spot was at the bar--an experience I'd definitely recommend. While we didn't get a chance to try any appetizers this time, I'm already looking forward to them on our next visit. But let me tell you, the desserts were incredible, I believe they are crafted in house! We ordered the Matcha Brulee and the Mango Parfait, and both were delicious with unforgettable flavors.

Yelp
A yakitori spot in the Riviera. They just opened for almost a month now and it's a great addition to all the restaurants in the area. These are the skewers we ordered: Spicy Momo- chicken. Got a nice kick. Definitely get. Teba: chicken wings. Simple. Could use a little dash more of salt Tsukune: chicken meatball with some green onion. Delish! Wagyu: just okay from all the other skewers. It was tender. Ebi: grilled shrimp is always good Hotate: scallop: delicious. Naturally sweet and well cooked. Got the onigiri and it isn't a necessity to try but it went well with the sticks since it was roasted. And the texture off a crisp rice was cool. Ended with dessert which they rotate. Had the hojicha panna cotta and that was the best! It had salted caramel and it went so well with the roasted tea flavor. I loved it! And I loved how it was different. It was shared that this is one of the workers recipe, please share haha! Service was great. Need to come back and try more items or just come by for dessert.

Yelp
Was curious to try this place after seeing YakitoriGuy visit -- my initial impression was that this place felt genuine, warm, professional, and authentic. I came by myself on a Wednesday evening and was seated right away at the seating in front/near the yakitori grill. I ordered almost every kushiyaki skewer except the beef and shrimp. My intentions were primarily a focus on the chicken: the chicken thigh was prepped without skin, but was delicious, soft, tender, and juicy. Of the three types offered, the spicy mayo was my favorite and complimented the fattiness of the chicken thigh very well. The chicken breast was also very delicious. Sometimes I avoid chicken breast because it can come out dry -- the chicken breast here was not dry at all and very moist and juicy. I really enjoyed the wasabi version and since breast is much leaner, you will definitely feel the burn with this one (in a good way). I tried all the vegetable skewers as well as the unagi and scallops, which were all great and tasty. If I were to order any of these again, I would recommend the potatoes as I thought this was unique that I typically did not see at other yakitori places. Also ordered a premium Suntory malt to compliment the whole dish which paired exceptionally well with the whole meal. I did inquire if they allow bottle service/corkage fee which they mentioned was $30/bottle in case you want to bring in your own sake for example. The attentiveness to detail was what caught my eye. After finishing any dish, within no more than 15-30 seconds someone would clear the plates and they would ask every so often how I was doing. Very mindful and professional staff. The one thing I will note is that despite ordering almost every kushiyaki on their menu, I was satisfied but not full. If your intentions are to be really full after this meal, this might not be the case. But if you are looking for authentic, delicious yakitori experience that you can experience the quality and dedication of their craft, this checks all those boxes.

Tammy S.

Yelp
Great food, great service, and cool ambiance. Service and ambiance: When you are seated they pour water in a small bowl to expand a white cylinder cloth (it's not marshmallow :p). The inside is a clean modern japanese ambiance, interesting decor. Food: Tofu salad - crispy tofu with salad and a japanese dressing. My favorite part was the tofu. It was a good appetizer for the table. Chicken skewers - tender chicken with sauce as ordered. Wagyu beef - super tender and tasty. This would be my favorite skewer. There were a few chewy bites but the tender areas were the best. Hotate - scallop skewers. These were good with 2 pieces of scallop on each skewer. Unagi - eel skewer was delicious as expected. Shrimp - a long piece of shrimp on a skewer. Next time I would try a chicken meatball skewer since it was recommended. Parking: meter parking in front and in the lot is $1.75 per hour.

Marina K.

Yelp
the staff here are all really friendly and service was great. I really liked the zoku salad and the mekyabetsu age. the appetizers were better than the actual skewers. I was a bit thrown off of the temperature of the skewers. they were all lukewarm which i've never had a yakitori fresh off the grill that's been lukewarm. I also got the yaki onigiri which was ok and also lukewarm. On the other hand, the hojicha panna cotta was really good. I didn't really like the caramel on top as it was too sweet for my liking but the panna cotta itself is so so good!

Nisha B.

Yelp
This place is what the village was missing! Really enjoyed our evening characterized by great service, fast execution of food and overall nice and bright environment. My only pet peeve was that I wish they would give us real napkins versus paper. Once you spend so much on your decor, the paper napkin just does not cut it. We will be back for sure. Thank you zoku!

Drew B.

Yelp
Loved it , food was very fresh quality was apparent. Matcha beer was incredible but a bit pricey. Service was decent and the ambience is very pleasant.

Julie L.

Yelp
What an amazing find on yelp! I was looking for a new place to eat in the Southbay and Japanese food is always my go to. This place did not disappoint. My husband and I shared the tofu salad, grilled rice ball, and bunch of kushiyaki sticks!!! Everything we had was delicious! Note to self make reservations before you come. We were told the wait would be about an hour and a half but luckily we only had to wait about 30 minutes. Once seated the service was spot on... I will definitely be coming back.

Robert C.

Yelp
Great Ambiance but Needs Improvement I recently visited ZOKU, the first Torii-zoku restaurant in Los Angeles, and had a mixed experience. The ambiance was excellent, providing a cozy and authentic Japanese feel, and the service was good, with plenty of servers around to assist. However, despite the number of servers, the restroom was dirty, which was disappointing. The prices were significantly higher than in Japan. For example, a skewer that costs around $2.50 in Japan was almost double the price here. Additionally, the charcoal-grilled taste, which is a signature of yakitori, was missing. To top it off, the grilled rice balls were sold out, which was a letdown. I understand that they are in the soft opening phase, so I hope to see improvements in the future. Looking forward to trying it again when they are fully operational.

Nico C.

Yelp
Solid food and great service. Place is clean and family friendly. Will definitely be back!

Craig G.

Yelp
Verbosity is overrated. King Kai, Sir Justin, Queen Vanessa. Come here and enjoy a perfect dining experience.

Stacy M.

Yelp
I came here last night with a few friends and we all loved zoku!! Every single wait staff was so attentive & kind, we had to wait a bit extra for our table to be cleared and they gave us a free dessert for the longer wait. It really wasn't that big of an inconvenience but the way they handled the situation was so nice. The restaurant is also really cute, feels more intimate and fun to hang out at. We pretty much ordered at least one of every skewer and everything was delicious. Spicy karaage was SO good, great flavor and not too spicy. The wagyu beef and chicken meatball were some of my favorites. The matcha beer was also really good, highly recommend. Definitely eat here!! It was an awesome dinner!

Miguel P.

Yelp
The wagyu was delicious and grilled perfectly. The matcha brûlée also slapped. Loved the moon cake texture of it. Ambiance was pretty great too, with light wood finish and nice lightning

T S.

Yelp
Love the food and the service. It can get really loud when it's crowded, and the shrimp wasn't the freshest this time around. Other than that, it's consistently been a great experience.

Ashley F.

Yelp
Came here as a party of 2 on a Saturday night without a reservation, the wait was 1.5 hours. The restaurant had a warm atmosphere and everyone was very friendly. Thank you to the lady with the white sneakers who patiently answered all my questions. I recommend this restaurant to people looking for a lively yakitori place as a treat. Cold Dish: - Hotate Carpaccio: 5/5, I liked the addition of the wasabi microgreens Starter: - Shishito Age: 4.5/5 Kushiyaki: - We ordered Momo, Momo Spicy, Mune Wasabi, Mune Ume, and Tsukune. - I love eating momo, can't go wrong. Recommend Mune Ume to umeboshi lovers. The tsukune had a nice texture and I liked the onions inside. - Wagyu Beef: 5/5, our server recommended the sauce - Ebi and Hotate: 5/5 - Baby Bella Mushroom and Zucchini: 4.5/5, has a charred texture. Zucchini was very juicy. Dessert: - We ordered the Cream Cheese "Tofu" as a dessert. 5/5, I look forward to eating this again. - Matcha Creme Brûlée, 4/5: It's a matcha cake(?) with custard and hardened sugar on top. Not what I was expecting but tasty nonetheless.

Yelp
Zoku is an amazing culinary adventure. It's so fancy in its little details (like the pre-meal handtowels), the food is prepared to sublime perfection, and the staff are great. ATTENTION OZEMPIC USERS! This place is perfect for people on weight loss drugs. Get like, a cucumber skewer and a couple of meat skewers, and you'll be satisfied without wasting food or money. IYKYK

Yelp
We tried almost everything on the menu. And nothing disappointed. What a hidden gem in the Redondo Riviera. Met the owner and chef who was enthusiastic and friendly. Each of the servers were bilingual (talented), attentive, and friendly. Met the pastry chef who was experimenting with new desserts for the upcoming season. She's creative and plays with fruit flavors and texture. Plenty of meter parking in the large lot across the street. It gets crowded here so expect a wait.

Victor Y.

Yelp
Went to soft opening 7/24/24 been waiting for Zoku to open and now I'm glad it did. I got the Edamame $5.00 to start, came out warm tasty and not over steamed. Small hot Sake $12 My entree Wagyu Premium Beef $7.80 Ebi shrimp $5.80 both are tasty. This style of Japanese cuisine offers quality in flavor and not too much in portions. Service is friendly and attentive as in Japanese tradition, they welcome you as you come in and treat you like your at their home to dine. My total bill $33.51 and walked out satisfied paying $40. A great addition to the Village to add another Japanese style of dining other than Flying Fin. I will come back to enjoy more of their menu.

Avy B.

Yelp
We walked in early on a Saturday night around 5:15 and got sat between reservations! Great ambience and sat in front of the chef! Mary was a great server and took excellent care of us! We are excited to come again!

Sung K.

Yelp
Oh my! This place is legit, delicious, and rocks! Let's start with the decor. Light wood and clean. Yakitori is bbq, so that can get grimey. No soot. No grime. No dirt. Food is delish. We had meatballs, chicken wings, chicken thigh, mushrooms, nanbu bijin sake, both cocktails, karage, and more. All hits. All delicious. Both cocktails are great in their own way. And the service. Amazing! Friendly, attentive, and great suggestions. My new favorite yakitori spot in the South Bay.

James H.

Yelp
HOLY HELLLLLLL This place was simply amazeballs. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and inviting. The food is the star of the show. Everything we ordered was delicious and seasoned perfectly. It was the best skewers I've ever had! They grill it on charcoal and you can definitely taste the difference. Service was top notch and the servers were welcoming and attentive. Also, they have Suntory beer on draft!! You gotta check out Zoku. I will most certainly be back soooooooon!

Ken O.

Yelp
I found a real yakitori restaurant in LA after a long time. I made a reservation in advance and it turned out to be a good thing. I was surprised by the Kagoshima Prefecture matcha beer before ordering the yakitori. I ordered the Zoku Salad, and the grilled rice balls"Yakionigiri" which take a while to prepare, first. By the time I stuffed my mouth with vegetables, chicken breast, and Tsukune I felt more than half full. As I looked at the dessert of the customer next to me and ordered another glass of Pinot Noir, I knew I had to come back soon. Thank you Zoku! KO

Miyabi G.

Yelp
I thought this restaurant would be like the Torikizoku restaurants in Japan, but it is different. They serve authentic dishes and some dishes for American taste like honey mustard yakitori. Taste is good. Tofu cream cheese with maple syrup is the best. The ice tea is not powder, but from real tea leaves.

Catherine H.

Yelp
This a warning. We made a reservation on open table for Friday at 7:30. We drove an hour to the restaurant only to be told that there was no seat available. Apparently the host sent a message via open table but no phone call made yet my cell number is linked to my account. When we asked for an explanation, the host responded with the following, "I don't need to hear this from you. Go somewhere else. Look around, we don't need your business". Unfortunate as we had been here a few months back and loved the cuisine and service. Obviously we will not be going back as there are plenty of other options available

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise. New to the neighborhood, we decided to try this spot on a Thursday evening. We were supposed to be seated at 7pm but they had a delay and sat us closer to 8pm. They apologized with sake and were just so nice about the whole thing. My favorite thing on the menu? Cucumber salad. Highly reccomend. Love the vibe here. My only suggestion would be to add dishes like bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes skewers, or quail egg skewers. Things like that Otherwise the food is excellent

Yelp
Great yakitori place in South Bay. Staff was super friendly and attentive, food came out quick despite a full house, and most everything was solid if not great in taste. Some small cons that I think they could improve on: - their momo chicken was not very flavorful, even when getting the additional flavored ones - some of their appetizers (like the shishito peppers) have some adventurous flavors added to them, but they ultimately didn't add that much to the dish. Still tasted good, just seemed unnecessary. - I wish they had pitchers for their beer, especially since all their tables seemed set up for group dining. - the umeshu drink is overrated based on other reviews. It just tastes like regular mugicha, can't taste the alcohol or plum at all. Slightly above average pricing as far as yakitori izakayas go, but I think the quality and overall experience justifies it. I would highly recommend all of their desserts too!

Yelp
Zoku's ambience is really nice, open & very inviting. The food is very impressive & as good as J have had dozens of times in Tokyo/ Kyoto & Osaka. Some of the stand out dishes are the Spicy Karaage- (excellent & has a Mole flavoring). Loved the Shishito Peppers w/ Matcha Salt was great & matched well w/ the Unagi, Ebi & Momo Chicken (Teriyaki, Momo Tsukune is to die for. Bottom line is that Zoku is a Treasure to have in the Riveria & I highly recommend them.

Yelp
The skewers were delicious and perfectly grilled! My toddler enjoyed every single skewer ordered and the rice balls. A bit on the expensive side but it's priced appropriately for the location. Would definitely be back!

Yelp
Very nice yakitori bar, the ambience is phenomenal. Very different from the traditional noisy, charcoal smoke-filled festive yakitori scene. A very welcome change for maybe a date or a more quieter occasion. food is great, price is right, much smaller menu than a traditional yakitori scene but the food is presented well the whole place gives you an High class jatto experience. Parking is a challenge but they do take reservation, five star for me..

Yelp
Zoku ups the Riviera Village food game by a mile. Absolutely everything we had was extremely well executed and delicious, with a special shout out to the spicy karaage (not pictured because we devoured it so quickly). The staff was friendly, patient and took care in explaining the menu. Looking forward to many return visits.

Yelp
Wonderful quaint Japanese restaurant! Food was absolutely delicious and service was top notch. Lots of great choices, all reasonably priced. The flavors and quality were our biggest takeaways, great addition to the village!

Yelp
Great food, great service, attention to detail. Get one of each skewer. Trust me. Make sure to ask for the color changing sake glass!

Yelp
We had a great dinner at Zoku during their soft opening. They offer both authentic and creative Yakitori, unique dishes, a wonderful atmosphere, and nice service. As we sat at the counter, the smell of fresh wood furniture brought us back to Japan. We are happy to have this wonderful Japanese restaurant in the area, can not wait to go back again.

Yelp
Such a cute izakaya restaurant in Redondo ! This place reminded me of the restaurants in Japan: high quality food that leaves you full but not heavy , warm atmosphere, and great service. Definitely coming back again even though it's an hour drive from my house and taking extra dessert to-go

Yelp
Zoku has a great ambience and family atmosphere. The food is awesome and served fast, efficiently and fresh & hot from the grill. The service was excellent. My favorite orders were the Hotate scallops and unagi eel. We were visiting from Las Vegas and loved our dinner on Friday evening so much we went back again on Saturday. Thank you Chef Maruyama and Zoku staff
