Vegan Austin Bakery Zucchini Kill Opens Second Bakery in North Campus | Eater Austin

A vegan, gluten-free bakery that opened a second North Campus location in mid-April behind the shuttered Spiderhouse Cafe; the new outpost mirrors the original menu with frosted cupcakes, cookies, Swiss rolls, cakes and its signature "cream coffins" (essentially Twinkies). Currently open weekends from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, the shop was founded in 2017 by Jessica Freda, Cece Loessin and MT Gibbs. The business grew out of Freda's earlier vegan doughnut cooperative Red Rabbit and carries a punk-rock influence (its name riffs on Bikini Kill), and it has supplied baked goods to various cafes and restaurants across town. - Nadia Chaudhury

I absolutely love Zucchini Kill so much. Every time I get the chance to go, I do. I have a huge sweet tooth and they’re the best vegan bakery I’ve been to. I ordered my birthday cake from there too this year and it was perfect! I always feel so happy when I go there.

Everything is vegan and gluten free and great care is taken to avoid contamination. It is nice to be able to pick up treats with confidence that avoid some common allergens. This spot is located next to tweedys and there is a great patio to hang out, bring a dog and have a drink.

I went inside and asked about beverages/smoothies and the person behind the counter didn’t even look at me or lift their head up from their phone. I know this a bit Karen of me to leave a review about, but at the very least, the one person working should look up and greet folks. I felt very unwelcome. Bummer!

Bought a Zucchini Kill Bakery coffee cake at another coffee shop and it was SOOOO good I had to look this place up. I got it because the first ingredient is garbanzo bean flour (WIN), and IT WAS SOO GOOD!! I wonder if I could get a birthday cake here 🤔🤔🤔🎉🎉

Went here last night as I just started a gluten free diet and have been sad I can’t eat many of my favorite sweets anymore! This place felt like my own personal heaven. The employee was so sweet and answered all my questions and the shop had a super cool, cozy atmosphere. I tried 2 of their seasonal cupcakes and they were some of the best I’ve EVER had! They have plenty of classic flavors but I took a gamble on some of their more unique cupcakes and was not disappointed. Whoever is coming up with their seasonal flavors is a creative genius. 12/10 will visit again when my sweet tooth strikes!

I went by on 8/27 at 20:50 The worker was so nice and gave us many recommendations and was extremely professional and courteous. They also delivered extremely high-quality customer service and I had an enjoyable time shopping there. it’s great that they offer inclusive food options in a city with not many options.

Great vegan spot, really kind and cool staff! My friend got the Gemini cupcake special for this Gemini season with lavender and mocha!! I got the zucchini bread, classic and great tasting! Loved the vibe 🩷

We usually eat this zucchini bread at coffee shops but we wanted to try this place and unfortunately we were very disappointed. They gave us one zucchini bread with mold and the lady was nice enough to give me another one but it was super hard to bite like they were old!
