"The name says it all. As soon as you set foot in the small entrance hall you are greeted by a picture of various freshwater fish, and the kitchen specialises in fish dishes. However, the well-curated menu also includes steaks, regional classics such as braised ox cheek, and vegetarian options. The grappa and brandy selection is really impressive and might tempt you to stay for a nightcap. In fine weather, the best spot is the terrace with a view of the lake – small boats can also moor there. Good overnight accommodation available. Motorists will be pleased to know there is a large private car park." - Michelin Inspector

Great food and a nice selection of virgin cocktails. Service is very friendly. The view from the terrace is good, but you can’t see a lot of the lake.

We stopped by this restaurant with my mother on the way home from Munich and it was absolutely worth it. Fish dishes were excellent. The Hungarian bartender girl prepared barista quality coffees for us and she was very kind too.

We came here for my daughters 15th birthday. We cannot speak German very well. But we were made to feel very welcome. We had to use translate for the menus but in this part of Germany that seems the way for tourists. The lady who served us all night was great. She was very friendly and polite and made sure we were happy. A beautiful lady with a nice butterfly tattoo. If she serves you she is one of a kind. The food was delicious. We all said this is the best meal we have had since we have toured Europe (have been to France, Belgium, Luxembourg & other parts of Germany) and this meal topped them all. Beautiful settings. Friendly staff and great food we would like to visit again before we leave the area for Czechia. Thank you for your hospitality. We did look at staying in a room before we move on but they are full. Which to me tells you how beautiful it is there. Thank you

We were not guests at the hotel and only went for dinner at the restaurant on the 07.07.2024. Food was very good, however we felt that the service we were given by one of the waiting staff was not appropriate. We are not German speaking and when we asked for assistance to understand the menu, one of the waiters just told us to use google translate. Moments later we asked another (older) waiter who was more than helpful and explained everything to us. Thanks to this gentleman.

This was the perfect hotel and location during our one week stay in Bavaria. The room had a lot of space (Deluxe room), room service personnel and the rest of the hotel staff personnel were extremely helpful; especially when we needed assistance with a personal medical issue. The restaurant had an exceptional chef which caused us to want to have numerous meals in the evenings at the hotel. As far as location, it was central to where we were able to take day trips to numerous cities and sights; Berchtesgarten, Koenigsee, Hitlers Tea House, Garmisch-Partenkirche, Zugspitz, Oberramagau, Salzburg, Munich, and other smaller towns nearby. A fabulous vacation.

Service was excellent. The fish was super fresh from the lake and cooked to perfection. The side dish of potato salad was homemade and tasted very good. The portions are also quite generous. It is recommended to reserve a table as it's quite a popular restaurant attached to a hotel. Price range is on the upper range but well worth it. The surrounding is beautiful and calm. There is also ample parking for everyone. Definitely a place to recommend.

The chef walked past us on our way in looking very sharp well groomed and professional,,, and it showed with the dishes we received. My Carp was perfectly cooked and my wifes fish salad was fantastic,we will definitely be back.A well polished professional service too.

Firstly the email exchange over the reservation was very quick and professional even with my schoolboy German from 40 years ago. We arrived early very hot after a long morning's cycle ride and were greeted warmly, with everything explained and shown to our room - around midday. ||The hotel is not quite waterfront but sort of feels it, as there is only greenery (mostly swampy reeds) and a small sailing club in between. There's a huge terrace with comfy chairs and lots of space between tables. This is the perfect spot for relaxing over long meals, a beer or even a huge ice cream! One or two here have commented that this place is a restaurant with the rooms as an afterthought. But we didn't find that at all. We were given excellent tables and treated very well as house guests. One kind lady who did breakfasts seemed to be in charge of the accommodation and she asked us each day if there was anything she could help with. Very nice. ||The wifi here is strong and fast and it works on the terrace too. This is so important for non-European travellers. And Visa cards are accepted too!||It's about 3km to the ferries to the castle and there are two public beaches with full facilities within 500m.||Very good value for money in a peaceful location.

Yelp
I grew up in the area and have been here numerous times throughout my life, maybe I only recently learned to appreciate these things, but the dinner we had was truely remarkable! Having been here years before, I expected nothing special. But I was to be positively surprised. Plus, coming with a 8 month old baby its not always a given to be made feel welcome. Here it was absolutely the case. But about the food: The "Renke" is a local fish. I had it "blau" (pouched in a wine/vinegar/rooty vegetables stock. It should not boil. Very important not to overcook. Tonight, this was just perfect! And a special thank you to a very nice baby-savy waiter! Altogether a really nice evening, quite unexpected, probably unfairly so. Highly recommended!
