I had a wonderful meal here last night. The concept is a tasting menu. You choose either "vegan" or "not vegan" when you book. As a vegetarian it was great to be catered for and very clearly on the website. Just a small shame there was no dairy really, which probably made it less filling than equivalent dishes would normally be.
The real standouts are the flavours though. As I was told when presented with the amuse-bouche, when Lukas does sweet, it's properly sweet, when he does bitter, it's properly bitter etc etc.
For me, the white asparagus sorbet (palate cleanser) with Thai flavours was absolutely epic. I could mention 3 or 4 other dishes I loved too.
Service was attentive and friendly. Every dish was explained by the chef who had made it (you sit on stools around the open kitchen and watch them make everything). Lukas himself gave the background on a couple of them. He and all the others spoke excellent English. Drinks service was great, very knowledgeable about the products. I had a Belgian chardonnay and a fruity red that's served cold - paired perfectly with the pea dish, which was a perfect taste of spring!
It's not cheap but for a 1 star meal that actually offers superb service, great tasting and very clever food with nice range of textures and influences, I'd highly recommend. No doubt the michelin inspectors will be re-issuing the star again next year, perhaps even pushing 2.
It sounds from social media like Lukas has plans to build a bit of an empire and on this evidence I wouldn't be surprised to see him succeed.
