Kō Hana Distillers

Distillery · Honolulu

Specializing in rum, rum tours, barrel aged coffee, rum cakes and more. Kō Hana Distillers produces Kō Hana Rum, Hawaii's first Agricole Rum made entirely from native Hawaiian sugarcane. Agricole is a rum style started in Martinique whereby the rums are made like cognac using only fresh pressed juice fermented to wine and distilled to perfection. We grow all of our own sugar cane from canoe plants brought to Hawaii about 1,000 years ago. These plants had spiritual and medicinal value to the Hawaiian people, but they were nearly wiped out by commercial sugar plantations interested in growing hybrid sugarcane that grow for two years and are resistant to disease and drought. We only use authentic native cane, or "Kō" in the Hawaiian language, in everything we do. Each cane we grow has a unique look and taste. This difference carries over into the taste of the rum. Once a year, we harvest the entire collection and blend it into a unique and rare Agricole Rum like no other in the world. Our distillery and tasting room tour will provide an open look at the art of craft distillation. Our distillery has large windows allowing full viewing of our batch distillation process on a 1200 and 600 gallon hybrid potstills. Our tasting room gives samples of each rum we make and you can purchase bottles on site. Optional full farm tours allowing guests to tour the cane fields and see all of the native Kō we grow in our own fields.
