The Country House Restaurant - Gastro Obscura

"Built in 1710 as a farm house, this manor has allegedly hosted everyone from George Washington’s spies to spectral inhabitants. In the 18th century, a girl by the name of Annette Williamson was accused of being a spy and brutally murdered. According to the current proprietors, she is a “friendly and kind spirit” who haunts the premises to this day. In the 19th century, the building was home to English actor Thomas Hadaway, who took an interest in attempting to contact the dead during the early Spiritualism movement. Hadaway would use this home to regularly conduct seances with neighbors to communicate with the departed. The building is now a restaurant and is said to be haunted by the spirit of Williamson, as well as Hadaway’s friend, poet and seance attendee William Sidney Mount. Know Before You Go This is a fully operating restaurant that can be visited during the restaurants hours of operation. Parking is in the back of the building." - Krysten Schatzger
