"Not too far from Thorough isKantine, an airy, Scandinavian-inspired spot that’s leaning into hygge (in a good way) and seemed to be full of regulars. I would’ve loved to build my own brunch board (five to seven items from a list of bread, eggs, fish, meat, salads, porridge, and yogurt), but I had lots of pastries to get to. Ever attracted toseed-covered carbs(it makes it healthy-ish!), I decided on a grovbirkes (don’t ask me to say that aloud), an incredibly flakey multilayered Danish spackled with sesame, flax, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds. The best kind of pastries are the ones where you can taste (and smell!) high-quality butter and where it’s impossible not to make a huge mess as you tear it to pieces. This one met all the marks—and with flying colors too." - BySarah Jampel
