Hadlock Field – Baseball Stadium Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Big picture: What’s the vibe of the place, what’s it like? Renovated in 1993, this 7,368-seat minor league baseball stadium is known for its terrific sight lines, friendly fans, and the classic vibe by way of the brick facade. What kinds of events can we see here? This is home to The Portland Sea Dogs, the city's minor league baseball team—an incubator for the Boston Red Sox . How are the seats? The sightlines are one of the standout elements of a game at Hadlock Field. Seating is comfortably spaced and meticulously maintained, and the stadium's dimensions get you a bird's eye view of all the action. Good for kids? My kids tagged along, and had a blast. Hadlock's intimate size and layout meant we could get close to the game and feel involved in its energy. The kids also loved being so close to the players, and unlike in some bigger venues, weren't overwhelmed by the crush of the crowd. Anything in particular that makes this place special? Like any good stadium, it's got its own campy ritual: Whenever a Sea Dogs player hits a home run or the team wins the game, a lighthouse rises from the centerfield fence. What—and who—do you think this is best for? Baseball fans, particular Red Sox fans since the Sea Dogs became a Sox affiliate in 2003, who relish really seeing the sport—and up-and-coming players—will adore this place." - Alexandra Hall
