"A rare Caribbean bird—excessively stylish yet playfully frisky—this north-coast landmark, now managed by the Oetker Collection, emerged from an extensive rebuild more dazzling than ever. Designer Martin Brudnizki conjured a grown-up bar with idiosyncratic glassware shaped like animals and vegetables and a resident DJ Tito to make cocktail hour irresistible; elsewhere, multi-level rooms and a spa built into the rock join a beach bar shaded by lipstick-red parasols. Where three restaurants once stood, a single dining room now riffs on mid-century glamour with a ramped-up, sustainably minded menu by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and even breakfast excels—the yogurt with caramelized pistachios and grapefruit deserves a daily order. Many bedrooms look over Baie de St Jean, and the individual design and quirky art give the feel of a private villa—dizzyingly fun, utterly spoiling, and still the beating heart of the island’s social scene." - Angelina Villa-Clarke
