Paradise Point Resort & Spa

"How did it strike you on arrival?Paradise Point is a little slice of Hawaii right in San Diego. Located on an island in Mission Bay (known for its water sports), the resort’s 44 acres are decked with tropical gardens and lagoons. What’s the crowd like?Proximity to SeaWorld and Mission Bay, plus access to abundant surf classes and babysitting services, mean this resort draws primarily families. Tell us about your room. The 462 rooms are set up bungalow-style and range from basic (with little or no view) to premium (with beach or garden views). The suites have features like dining rooms, wet bars, and private outdoor patios. The vibe is “tropical beach cottage,” with bright colors and lots of light. Doubles start from $229. How were the rooms? The beds are on the firmer side, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for something a bit more plush. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? There's a mini-fridge in the room, but it's empty. How's the WiFi?The good news is it’s free, but the bad news is it’s a bit spotty. What about food and dining? There are two restaurants: Barefoot Bar & Grill (breakfast, sandwiches, and salads) and Tidal (upscale dinner and dessert). Anything stand out about other services and features? What the resort may lack in five-star rooms, it makes up for in well-manicured grounds and recreation options. There are five pools (one for adults only), a one-mile beach, five tennis courts, an NBA-regulation basketball court, mini-golf, croquet, bike rentals, and "dive-in" movies by the pool. What was most memorable about your stay? There are enough on-site activities to keep even the most hyper of kids occupied. Bottom line: worth it, and why?The rooms are a bit disappointing, but for a family vacation, you can't beat the resort’s beautiful 44 acres, nor its proximity to SeaWorld and other landmarks." - Archana Ram
