Hotel Bowmann

"What's the vibe here? There's something enchanting about the Bowmann, which combines the sumptuous greatest hits of Parisian design for a winning combo. The building's bones are markedly Belle Epoque and Hausmannian, but the interiors—in off-whites, pale blush pinks, and flashes of red and gold—are a blend of Deco and contemporary elements. It's a feast for the eyes that also provides a comfortable, sensuous space in which to unwind. Where will we find it? The Bowmann occupies a former office building on a quiet yet central street, minutes away from some of Paris' best attractions. Got it. So tell us about the rooms—what can we expect from our accommodations? The rooms are a plush blend of soft colors and textures, mostly blushes and off-whites. And although the building's bones have been well-preserved, the hotel does feature of-the-moment tech updates, including do-not-disturb buttons that can be activated from the bed. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? The Wi-Fi is free. The surrounding area might be cool, but if we want to stick closer to home, are there any good food and drink options on the hotel grounds? The Bowmann Bar is an elegant space that fills with Parisians after work. The restaurant 99 Haumann, meanwhile, reflects the hotel's design ethos, with a menu that's French at its core but decidedly contemporary. Make sure to try the suckling roast duck with orange and caramelized endives. And the service? With only 53 rooms, the hotel offers supremely personalized attention. Who else do you spot milling about the lobby and the bar? A chic, on-the-pulse, stylish and elegant crowd who love the discreet vibe here. Tell us a little more about the neighborhood—what's it like? The hotel sits on a quiet, tree-lined commercial street just minutes away from the Madeleine Church and the Jardins des Champs-Elysées. Oh, lovely. Dare we ask—is there anything you'd change? Absolutely nothing. Any other hotel features worth noting? If you're willing to splurge on the suite, you will be amply rewarded—it has gorgeous sunset views of the Paris skyline, as well as a private rooftop Jacuzzi. It sounds lovely. So what's the takeaway? Why is the Bowmann worth the price of admission? It's a splurge, sure, but this hotel offers a more intimate experience than its similarly priced brethren." - Todd Plummer
